We love fort Jesse! If you have a group I recommend planning ahead and making reservations, even sometimes reservations are needed for 2 people. We stopped in this past weekend without reservations and got one of the last tables. The food is always fabulous with friendly staff. My husband knows if we're within a 500 mile radius of Fort Jesse Cafe then we must stop. I'm only half joking. The dining experience - from food to finish - is amazing! I tried something different on my second visit. This time I went with waffles with sides of eggs, bacon and fruit. The light sprinkle of powdered sugar atop the waffle was delicious. I ate so much of the waffle I barely had any room for the sides. It's fully worth the indulgence! This place is pretty packed even on weekdays. We did not have a reservation, so we had a 10 minute wait. No problem - just level setting expectations for my future, fellow diners! The staff has such cool, laidback vibe. The only downside is if there is a table of loud people it gets noisy in here and I don't think everyone else in the place wants to only hear what you are talking about. What a wonderful way to start your day. My wife daughter and I stopped in here for breakfast. We started by sharing a large pumpkin pancake which was topped with mascarpone and crushed pistachios. Though it had had a side of syrup, it really wasn't needed. The pancake was heaven. For our main dish, I ordered the Cajun Skillet. A wonderful dish of hash browns, shrimp, andouille sausage, peppers tomatoes onions covered lightly with white cheddar and topped with two fried eggs. My wife savored the Eggs Benedict she ordered. It is her favorite breakfast and not readily available where we live. She raved about the freshness of the ingredients. My daughter's vegan breakfast was very well received. I thought the cheeseburger benedict would taste too much like lunch. Hats off to the creator of this dish because it had all the elements of a cheeseburger while still maintaining that breakfast taste of an eggs benedict. The beef patty, tomato, and cheese were good, but it was the poached egg, arugula, toasted english muffin, and house-made thousand island that made this a phenomenal breakfast. They do not have a huge menu but there are things for everyone + seasonal specials. I got the fort buster bc I was craving some biscuits and gravy! My dining partner got grandpas breakfast which is your typical breakfast fare with the addition of homemade blackberry jam (which is amazing by the way)! I love Ft Jesse Cafe. This is one of our favorite places for breakfast when my son visits from out of town. He often gets chicken and waffles and I get the bruschetta skillet. They are so good! The service is always really great too. The food comes out hot with a great presentation. They are always busy so if you know you are going make a reservation at least a day ahead or prepare to wait. The size of the building is not to FJC's advantage and the tables are a little bit too close together for my liking but the great food and service make up for that.
