We needed a quick lunch on campus and were happy that there was a McAlister's near the building where we were meeting. I love the pick two option here and had a cup of tortilla soup and 1/2 pecan berry salad. The food was fresh and tasty as always; this chain is one of my go to spots for a quick, tasty and reasonably healthy lunch. I've had a wide range of their menu offerings over the years and have liked everything reasonably well. The line was long at lunchtime on a summer day; I think staffing was low given we were between terms, but staff were friendly and seemed to be working hard. I ordered a salad which included chicken for pick up. There was not one piece of chicken in my salad. This happened to me previously while I was in the restaurant so it was not a problem but I'm not going back there just to get a new salad with chicken. Do better.! read more

My co worker and I went through the drive thru 7/18/23 at about 11:05am. We waited almost 30 minutes and they weren't busy inside or in drive thru. My sandwich was cold like it had been sitting and my co workers bacon was raw. We called 7/19/23 at about 10:45 am and the person we spoke with, management he said, he went into a conversation about how corporate doesn't want them scheduling extra employees till noon to save on labor. This movie was fucking horrible. Beauty is obviously 10x more attractive than the Beast. The beast is undoubtedly an animal, which represents (depending on how you look at it) the type of men women go for in this society, or beastiality. The whole thing made my stomach turn. Anything in the Bone Student Center is basically garbage. The only good thing is flex dollars. Head into uptown, (Garlic Press, the Rock, coffeehouse for my veg friends). Food is very good. However, lines are long and service is slow. Their website is organized well but extremely slow. If you have multiple items to order, you should figure 10-15 minutes just to get the website to cooperate. The alternative is to use their drive through but I've waited as long as 40 minutes for my food. So frustrating just to order lunch. read more

I've only been once but I liked what I saw on the menu. For my first visit I chose the New Yorker (pastrami & corned beef, swiss, on rye. I chose the fruit cup in lieu of fries and was pleased. However, next time I'll try the slaw it looked good. The sandwich was very good and it was tough picking one. Between McAlister's and the Burger King upstairs, I always blew through my dining dollars when I was still going to school here. So when I came back to ISU for the career fair, I couldn't pass it up - although this was my first time as a newbie vegetarian. I had the Veggie pita sandwich, which comes with some sort of sauce on it, and it was very good. The cucumbers were crisp - almost unexpectedly so. I probably should have gone with a different side, but I got the mashed potatoes & gravy, and it was still fine. And you can't forget the sweet tea, though now that more and more restaurants offer it, it isn't such a big deal anymore. Tried McAlisters on a recommendation from friend and have to agree it is good quality food for around a $10 lunch, mine came to $9.98. I tried the roast beef and cheddar with Horseradish sauce. Another salad w/ ROTTEN LETTUCE. The monitor advertised fresh salads as I was waiting in line. So I ask the girl that took my order, Is your lettuce fresh today? Her reply-"it's always fresh." For food on a college campus, it's pretty good. Better than what I have found at WIU. I got a toasted turkey sandwich that was pretty good. There were a lot of other things on the menu that sounded really awesome including soups, salads, and sandwiches. They have seasonal items as well. Yum! This would probably be more of the ideal place to eat for lunch. The times that I have been here, I came during dinner time and quite honestly in my opinion, the portion sizes are not even big at all ( but I am a person that has a pretty big appetite than most people I know). With that being said, I definitely think Mcalisters is too overpriced for the amount of food you get. For the sandwiches, I feel that I could make a sandwich just as good as theirs and possibly better. I also ordered one of their pasta bowls and I was surprised at how small it was for the amount of money that I had to pay. My friend and I decided to stop here to grab some dinner, it took a while for the workers to realize we were standing there and had not be served so that kind of irritated me a little and it took really long time for the food to come out. Although the food was really good. I got a grilled chicken sandwich, a Arnold palmer(half lemonade, half ice tea), and a brownie and it was all delicious. I have to say, the food is quite tasty. The iced tea, especially, is delicious. I've gone to the one in Champaign, which is a well run establishment. While this one is just as yummy, make sure you double check your order before you leave if you get carry out. read more
