Went here New Year's. Ordered Shan Diced Chicken w spicy chillies. More hot peppers than pieces of chicken in the dish. Additionally, it has peanuts in it and we have peanut allergies-wish the menu stated that or shown peanuts in the picture. Our server asked us how the food was at the end of our visit, and we told her that it was spicy and didn't know it had peanuts, and her response was that's what you ordered. Would love to meet someone who can actually eat this dish- started sweating after my first bite. Ordered Mongolian chicken and the pic showed greens in it. The only thing we had was onion, and more onion than chicken for that matter. Lastly, combo vermicelli was okay. Overall, they need to perhaps list ingredients under pictures to get a better sense of what's in it. Will never go back. Bathroom signs were hilarious as they are in Spanish from the previous Mexican restaurant too. read more

Best fried pork dumplings ever. They just opened but they seem to have it down food was fresh and yummy.

We have found this bistro as the best Asian/Chinese restaurants in the Austin area. Go to Lakeway! Incredible variety, great flavors, huge egg rolls, generous servings and fine and attentive service. An undiscovered treasure! read more

A charming restaurant in Lakeway, Texas offering typical Chinese selections. A good place to visit.

Food is amazing. Super authentic Sichuan food. Their service is slow but the servers are super nice. They're short staffed so I feel for them. The food is super tasty though and the portions are huge. One of the top sichuan restaurants in Austin read more

Good lunch specials! Really enjoyed the chicken and broccoli today with egg roll and hot and sour soup.

We finally stopped in this evening. It wasn't quite 7PM and there were only 3 or 4 tables sat at that point. Right after we were seated a ton of folks came in and suddenly the restaurant was a bit more than half full and it felt lively with conversation. It was a little chilly outside so we decided on hot jasmine tea to drink and it was good tea, not bitter and had great jasmine flavor. There was only one server so we were a little worried it would take a long time to order and get our food but we didn't wait long, just a few minutes. Once we ordered the food it delivered to the table in fewer than 10 minutes by a runner. I'm glad they had someone to help the one server who was working really hard to take care of all the guests that came in around the same time. I had the Ma Po Tofu. I recommend it. It's a traditional Chinese dish, the kind that screams of home cooking. It is one of my favorite Chinese foods and I don't know a lot of restaurants that offer it here on the West side of Austin. It consists of cubes of soft tofu and ground meat in a savory, salty, and just barely spicy sauce and is topped with fresh scallions. It came with a side of steamed rice. They don't have their liquor license yet but Ma Po Tofu is the perfect dish to go with a cold beer and I'll be sure to enjoy it that way once they get their license. I ate half and was pretty full so I planned to take the rest home. My husband had the Sizzling Hot Plate Beef which didn't look like the deep red color in the photo but smelled delicious and had all the right ingredients. It consisted of thinly sliced, very tender beef with onion and red and green bell pepper stir fried in a lightly sweet-savory sauce. He upgraded to fried rice for $2 extra. He ate all the meat and about half of the veggies and most of the rice. He was very satisfied. We packed up the rest of my meal and paid. In total it was about $50 for the tea and the 2 entrees. Technically we got 3 full meals out of it since the Ma Po Tofu entree was a very generous portion. Not bad for a dine-in meal these days. We'll definitely be back! read more

Amazing service & even better food! This is a woman owned business & it's one of my favorite go to places in Lakeway.

I have ordered food from this business several times since they came to the neighborhood. However, last night, I submitted a very large order to go, and was most disappointed. The order was incomplete, the portions were smaller than usual, and when I attempted to contact them about the missing item, I could not get through to the business by phone, even after several attempts. To top it off, I woke during the night with a significant stomach issue, which I can only attribute to the meal. It's unlikely that I will order from this business again. read more

Great food, but the service is mediocre at best. The Cilantro Chicken is fantastic and I would eat there more often if the service was better. read more

Honestly if I could give zero stars I will , the service is horrible , the food was good but they freaking forgot my order . They added their own tip to the bill which was fucking dumb . I would never recommend this place . read more

DELICIOUS!!! We have gotten food delivered from here at least 4 times. They are quick and the food is still hot. Portion sizes are shareable. read more

Best Chinese food in Lakeway hands down! We will be back! They just opened a couple of weeks ago, place was pretty empty, hoping they will fill those seats and be around for a long while! read more

Good food. Probably the best Chinese food up in the area. Nothing to write home about, but good enough.

Good, authentic Chinese food. The food was fresh and the service was great. Highly recommend!

I realize this restaurant has been open for just a week or so however I have an opinion already. After one visit I am fairly certain I will not be returning. I asked the young man who was taking carry out orders to add veggies to my Mongolian chicken and beef. I asked for specific items to be added. Instead I got a bowl full of jalapeno peppers (is this texmex or Chinese?) and so many pieces of cut up hot peppers - far too many to count. So... after asking for carrots and green beans I got a ton of jalapenos and hot peppers. A few paper thin slices of carrots and no green beans. The beef was grayish in color as well. I feel that this establishment opened before it was quite ready to open. They didn't have to-go menus ready as they had "only been open for eight days" and the kid at the front had no idea what was in anything. Also... why no description of each item on the menu? read more

We ate at Shan China Bistro and Bar last night, in the Old Don Mario's location. Food, service and ambience were all fantastic. We specifically tried items that we could compare to other restaurants we like and they rocked it. Since they haven't yet received their liquor license they said we could bring in beverages from the adjacent liquor store, which we did. The service there was also great. This will become a regular favorite for us! read more

Food and service is excellent been back many times and every time it's been good! Especially the shan beef noodle.

This could be the best Austin-area Chinese restaurant I've been to, even though they have yet to get their beer/wine license. I had the hot-and-sour soup (needs a bit more vinegar) and the shredded pork with garlic sauce, which was very good. Service was very friendly. Worth a return visit. read more

Soooo good lots to choose from very good service lovely people.Food is excellent.Menu has pictures very helpful.

we just had lunch here and enjoyed wonderful food and service! the hot and sour soup can't be beat. I had braised eggplant with garlic and my friend had Mongolian beef. we were both delighted with our meals. read more

We went last night at 7:00 pm. They were slammed & extremely understaffed. Every table was filled. I can't complain about the service because so many places are understaffed & service is poor. However, the food was not as we had hoped. I didn't intend to write a review because how new this restaurant is. But am compelled to warn people that you need to ask about spice level. Our main entree was Mongolian Beef. The menu didn't state it was a spicy dish & the picture didn't show any peppers. When it was served it had large slices of Jalapeños. I couldn't eat it. If you can't tolerate spicy food be sure to ask about spice level when you order. We will go back to give them another chance but not for a while. read more

Great food and was very accommodating for a large group. Really enjoyed the duck and green beans

Great food and great service! Best Chinese food in the area by far. Definitely looking forward to coming back soon!

Food is great and they are nice people. When you order takeout though, check your bill as they automatically add gratuity... I disagree with this and will call them out next time I place a to go order. I'm very happy to tip, but only when I'm served, not for takeout read more

I don't understand how this has 4.4 stars. Has no one ever had good Chinese food in lakeway before? The chongqing chicken is awful. McDonalds provides better quality chicken in their pink goo nuggets. The crab Rangoon had 0 crab and was just basically cream cheese mixed with sugar stuffed in a wonton wrapper. The egg rolls were the only semi passable item and the sweet and sour sauce that came with the egg rolls and crab rangoon was only sweet and no sour. Do yourself a favor and go to your closest Panda Express and head back to the dumpster and eat the food in said dumpster. That will be better than anything Shan will serve you. read more

Amazing and authentic Chinese food!! So delicious!! Happy to have this restaurant in Lakeway.

Food was great and the portion sizes are very big. There was only one lady to handle all the crowd that day. But still got our food served pretty well. We got a fried rice and a kung pao chicken. I loved the fried rice, it was great. I'd definitely go again read more

Got charged $16.99 for and item that is listed for $12.99 on menu. They said sorry, menu hasn't been updated yet. Same price on website and to-go menu. Might want to confirm price before ordering. read more

We stumbled on to Shan's when we first relocated to Lakeway last November 2022... and they were just a few weeks into having just opened. And so far everything on the menu has been simply delicious, and spot on... we especially love their pork egg rolls and wonton soup, both of which are very authentic... it's become our go to for authentic American Chinese cuisine and is very much in keeping with the food, ambiance, and service, you'd find in both San Francisco's and Los Angeles' China Town areas read more

Very busy on Saturday evening with several large groups and all tables full. Servers hustled and food came fast and hot. Green beans are stellar and huge portion--enough for 4. looks like all dishes are meant to share. Spicy chicken had very crispy tiny bits of chicken, peanuts, scallions, lots of garlic and 4 cups of red chilies. We like spicy, but this was a crazy amount! Very crispy and light egg rolls. Menu shows photos of dishes, and we're planning to return to try other things. Be aware this is not bland food like many Austin Asian places. Like all restaurants these days, could use more servers but kitchen is fast. No liquor license but several tables brought their own wine; they don't open or pour but will bring glasses. read more

Cute place inside, but several issues that will cause me to NEVER GO BACK THERE. If you are going to serve lunch, you really need a lunch menu. I got there early right as they opened around 11:00 a.m. The menu is fairly large, but there are no lunch specials, or combination plates at all. I ordered the beef with broccoli and asked if it came with rice, since rice was not in the picture of this item on the menu. Server was pleasant and explained that they do not have any lunch specials or combinations and yes the dish came with rice. The jasmine tea I ordered was cloudy and tasted like it had been made sometime over the weekend. It was not fresh. My order came out very quickly and the main course of beef with broccoli was OK. At least it was hot and the sauce was good. Portion size was good for $15.99. The steamed rice was for sure left over from the weekend and was dry, almost crunchy and not warm in the middle of the small bowl. My total bill was just under $20.00 and I tipped another 15% on top of that. Nothing worth going back for. I hope they can make some improvements and at least make a fresh batch of rice daily for their customers. read more

I thought the food would be awesome since the service was rude and shitty frankly. Particularly with the petite lady taking over the phone orders. I figured this was because they had an ego about the amazing food. But No that wasn't the case the food was meh 3/5 service 1/5 so this is a 2 overall. Maybe get something quick if you can't find anything in the area and don't go back like myself. Don't be shocked when the food is meh and youre ignored and treated like shit. I warned you. read more
