We had our holiday Xmas party here yesterday. They have a lovely outdoor seating area. Luckily the rain stopped as the inside space would not have accommodated us. It's pretty small. The waitstaff was super friendly! They kept bringing out apps, queso, and flautas. There was more food than we could eat! I also must let everyone know that I won the ugly sweater contest AGAIN. I'm back on top. I won in 2017 and now again in 2023! Happy Holidays Everyone. Give Los Pinos Jaliscos a try. You'll like it!!

Maria and her sister, Mariaela, i've created a wonderful authentic Mexican restaurant. The chips are amazing. The green jalapeño salsa is to die for. My fajitas were so hot. I had to have them pull off. They were well marinated and seasoned. My wife had the chicken today and it was delicious. If you haven't eaten here yet, you need to come! It will be your new favorite place like it is ours!

Amazing experience! I saw a post on instagram that a new location of Los Pinos Jalisco was opening, and I knew I had to go try it. They did not disappoint. The location is out west, perfect if you are coming back from a long day at Travis lake. They have a patio with nice coverage too. We ordered a beef fajita torta, a machacado and nopales breakfast taco on corn (homemade and delicious), the mini tacos with pastor and beef, and some birria tacos that the owner recommended. The breakfast and birria tacos were to die for. Amazing taste, the birria was better than the one they serve in Guadalajara. Very impressed, definitely coming back for more. So happy we chose this restaurant to try out today!

Food was authentic and delicious! I had the al pastor taco and the birria with cheese. It was delightful.

The most authentic sit down restaurant in Westlake...my humble opinion of course. If you're nearby check em out.

    Yum! Shrimp tacos!

We were in the area and just had to stop by for some lunch. This time I remembered to take pictures! I wish we could hang out for the Grand Opening tonight and stay for the band. The staff here are the friendliest and we wish them much success!

There's not a ton of other restaurants in the area, but appreciate the family friendly place for sure! As far as food goes, pretty standard American fare, nothing particularly special, but not terrible either. Got a fish and chips and the batter on the fish is crisp and light, not too greasy either. The french fries could use more crisp, but were fine and salted well. Tartar sauce is excellent. Mushroom chicken is also not bad - could have been a bit saucier I think, but some light summer veg makes for a healthier selection. Corn dog basket for the kids was standard kid fare. You come here to hang with family. There's also a large screen inside for sports games if you rather be inside. All in all, serves its purpose fine.

I don't often factor service into my reviews, I usually focus on food quality, taste, and value,…read morebut this visit deserves a mention. Let's start with the positive. The gentleman in the green shirt and glasses, who I assume was the manager, was outstanding. We arrived as a party of nine, and he immediately went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He even suggested combining two tables so our group could sit together. When a server later informed us that we couldn't have two tables joined, I explained that the manager had offered it himself. Her response quickly changed to, "Oh, okay, no problem then." The manager didn't stop there. He found us an even larger space near the game area that worked much better for our group. His friendliness and willingness to accommodate us was easily the highlight of the evening. Thank you, sir. Unfortunately, the food was a completely different story. Our meals arrived together, and I ordered the fish and chips. In fact, this meal is the reason I'm writing this review at 2:00 a.m. After spending the night violently sick, including multiple trips to the restroom, I felt compelled to share my experience. The moment the plate arrived, something seemed off. The fries tasted like they had been cooked in old, overused oil. They were greasy, stale-tasting, and lacked any flavor beyond salt. I suspect the fish may have been fried in the same oil because it carried that same unpleasant quality. Fresh was the last word I would use to describe it. I noticed the fries on my children's plates looked exactly the same. Considering the restaurant wasn't particularly busy around 7:00 p.m., it felt like food that had been sitting around far too long. The tartar sauce didn't help matters. It had an odd spicy flavor that simply didn't belong and tasted nothing like a quality tartar sauce should. My daughter ordered a burger, and when she handed me her pickles, I immediately commented, "Don't eat those, they taste old." I've eaten a lot of pickles in my life and never thought I'd describe one as bad, but these somehow managed to be. The flavor was unpleasant, stale, and unlike anything I've experienced before. The only positive comment I heard regarding the food was about the pancakes. I didn't try them myself, but a few people in our group mentioned they smelled and tasted decent. Even so, most plates at our table were left unfinished. By the next morning, I was paying a very unpleasant price for that fish and chips order. My overall rating is 4/10, and that's largely because of the excellent manager in the green shirt and glasses. Without him, the score would be significantly lower. As for the food itself, I'd rate it somewhere between 3 and 4 out of 10. Based on what I experienced, I have serious concerns about the kitchen and food quality standards. The entire meal felt like something straight out of a Kitchen Nightmares episode. I won't be returning.

Can't even imagine how great it must be to own a boat and step right off to eat at a place as beautiful as this. Just went on a busy Sunday night for a birthday party, and after a miscommunication within our party after having been sat a table, we thought it was a free-for-all table situation and we could move to another table, scanning the QR code to order. Not so. The other patron came up within 20 seconds of us trying to grab the other table, saying he had been waiting on it. We went back to our original table, apologizing profusely to him, in a situation that took all of about 3 minutes or less from start to finish. Not only did I quickly realize the host staff had clocked the entire thing and didn't say anything to us (leaving the other patron to do so instead) and as if we weren't embarrassed enough by making the mistake ourselves, the grimacing passive aggressive looks that the hostesses proceeded to give us for the rest of the two hours we were there started to veer into a seriously absurd level of pettiness. One of my family members even mentioned they walked by and heard the hostesses actively talking bad about us. That was VERY clear to me after being able to see them sending horrible vibes our way the rest of the time! You would think we had stood up on the tables and screamed bloody murder for an hour, or made their jobs impossible for hours on end. We are kind, respectful people and spent good money - which for a family of very humble means, was a very special occasion celebrating our grandmothers 78th birthday. We went out of our way to apologize to the hosts specifically for any inconvenience and confusion we may have caused, and all I can say is.... as native Austinites, this is not the kind of hospitality I would ever expect at a MML restaurant, or a longtime local institution, but ESPECIALLY a place where people are shirtless, kids are running around - a place that seemingly aims to be laid back or unpretentious. My dad used to come here in the 80s and I just left feeling so icky on his behalf, as he was the one who heard the hosts talking bad about our family, and it is a big deal for him to go out and spend $15 on a beer. When we apologized on our way out, all we got from the hostesses was an air of thinly veiled contempt and snobbiness that made me understand the criticisms of this place now catering to a certain level of elites. We were told that sometimes it's seat-yourself, sometimes it's not, depending on how busy they are. Seems like a pretty reasonable, (maybe even common) mistake then......?! I get that we screwed up, and as a former hostess I know you're just trying to do your job (and it's a hard job in a sprawling place like this on a busy night) but honestly, was this THAT serious? All that said, the food runners absolutely killed it and were anticipating our needs left and right. They were working so hard and were really helpful. The food was so flavorful and fresh. The waitstaff also helped us intercept a sundae we ordered also that we could add candles to it, and they sang happy birthday, which somehow felt especially generous after the hostile vibes I was picking up on up to that point. I'll be back because natural places like this are so hard to come by, but seriously wish the maturity of the (hostess') service could reflect Austin culture and values. A little more humility might go a long way - especially to justify those high-class prices.
