Walnut Shrimp

Just ordered from Shan China today the walnut shrimp was horrible, the batter inside was grayish in color and not crispy at all. I hope they give me my money back!

We were about the fourth table in the restaurant, which climbed to about seven tables while we were there on a Saturday evening. It was our first time, and we went for the soup dumplings and the combination dry pot, pictured. I'm into Szechuan food and this was terrific, they even cooked the dried red peppers better than I've had before. I intend to return regularly!

This place is close to where I'm staying right now. From previous reviews, it says it's Sichuan dishes. The place is easy to find, clean and welcoming owners I assumed. Good selection of foods and this time, I tries their salt and pepper short ribs and sweet and sour soup. The short ribs are savory but missed the flavor of salt and pepper. I will give it a try again and see other options in their menu. Update to follow....

I have not eaten at Shan before even though it is right across RR620 from my office. Great looking menu with a huge selection of item. Waiter was efficient and quickly took my drink and food order. Within 10 minutes I had my entree on the table. I ordered the Chongquig Style Spice Beef. The order was large and I took home 2/3rds of it. Great flavor and good spice level. I would definitely order it again. Shan is on 'My Keepers List'.

Just a short walk from my hotel and I found a gem, Shan China Bistro. Chinese food is usually not my go to, but dang glad it was tonight. I went early (6pm), there was no wait and was seated and served quickly. I had the sweet and sour soup, an egg roll and orange chicken. If I go again, not sure I would change anything. It was all good! The restaurant looked clean, and the service was excellent. When in Lakeway, go to Shan! Go get Full

Ambiance is very nice, feels homey and nostalgic for me. The owner is very sweet and friendly.

You have been warned I've been dinning here with family and friends for two years since moving to the are. I really noticed food and service was going down hill my last 3-4 visit. I the server to remove an item from the table that I found off the flavor of the item was possibly spoiled. Instead of the server asking me if I wanted another plate or if I wanted it removed from my he took the plate, set it down on the table and proceeded to eat The next words out of his mouth word this is fine what's wrong with it explain is it too hot is it too sweet? Is it too sour? I told him I have ordered the same item numerous times and it didn't taste like it did today and I don't want it. I don't like it. I'm not eating it! After this last visit, I've conclusion. I will no longer be dining here having off day is one thing or time is another thing but to be questioned repeatedly is unacceptable in my book.

Best Asian food in the Bee Cave/Lakeway area. Location is a bit inconvenient, but worth the drive.

Three of us had arrived earlier and ordered already and our server came by to greet us two and take our drink order right away if we were ready. We were not so she gave us some time and came back. Throughout the night, she checked on us. At the end of the night, she offered to split all our checks and remembered everyone's orders and how to to accurately split the drinks. Each lady paid for an appetizer. The appetizers were all very good though I would say there are limited gluten free options. The girls shared the Tempura Cauliflower. It looked really good and apparently was also delicious but unfortunately not gluten free. The Charcuterie Board with cheese, salami, pepperoni, and smoked salmon was yummy, as were the brussel sprouts and chicken kabobs. The server said the marinade was not gluten free but I decided to eat it anyways. The chicken was juicy and seasoned well. I really liked the brussel sprouts too. The Dirty Martinis and Paper Plane were great. My friend had the Cucumber cocktail but opted for soda water instead of Sprite and she said it was really good. It looked pretty. The restaurant offers a nice vibe for hanging out and has a great selection of cocktails, wines, and food. I didn't get a chance to try an entree but I'm sure they are good. We had the best server so I'd say this place is a winner.

My friend never been here as well and we both decided to come for my bday. Best decision ever. I had the short rib and it was tender and mash potatoes was delicious. I would recommend this place. My friend had the ribeye and salad. Both dish amazing. The service was fantastic. Our server did an amazing job. She was on point. The place got packed for a Thursday night. The music was chill. I will most definitely come back again to try something else. If you have a birthday come here. You will see why. Its a great experience.

This was the best birthday celebration I can recall having in years. It was over 100 degrees…read moreoutside so we were a bit worried about our reservations on the lake and the tavern being a hot day, but that was totally unnecessary. My group was given two boats for a very roomy experience with canopies for lots of shade if desired (but these were pulled back at night to enjoy the stars), there was even shaded areas on the lake (if you want to sip a cocktail with the boat shading you) on a lillypad to float if desired. The lake breeze and the wind as the boats cruised make it completely cool both on the lake and on the floating tavern. A rental of time at Floating Tavern is completely an experience that feels like you are out of the United States. It is so exotic! They cater your day totally to what you want to do. Want jet skis? Fine. Want to go cliff diving? Fine. Want to just cruise the lake or take a trip with music? That works too. Just chill out sipping a cocktail on a lillypad or floating? Go for it. Once your water time and cruise time is completed, the real fun begins. With expert captains having given us a great lake tour, we pulled up to the floating tavern and that was just incredible. I brought electric candles for the table to level up the experience a bit but they did it all so well with or without them and it was so roomy even for our large group! They had dimmed lights for ambiance, a mixologist squeezing fresh juices for us for amazing drinks she made with the alcohol we brought, (their alcohol package may be easier next time as it is very affordable) and we had two chefs creating small bites for us hot and cooked right there on the tavern as the sun set and we were surrounded only by lake and stars, docked right there in the middle of the lake. The service was exemplary and far beyond our expectations of fun and being catered to. You can bring some of your own food too to make a full party if desired. The communication leading up to the event was exceptional and I'll be honest, I would much rather book this experience with friends a few times a year then ever buy a boat. It is the best lake experience and lake dining you will ever have and the hosts are a huge part of the fun of the day. True experts at what they do and we are a group of well traveled, well dined foodies (including two professional chefs) and we were completely wowed at our evening. It's the vibe that gets you. You will completely shake off all stress spending an evening this way!

5 stars for vibes alone…read more We dropped by to enjoy the nice weather and some beers when we happened to be staying closeby for a wedding. It's in a scenic part of Austin, amongst the hills and close to Lake Travis. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and my favorite was the live music stage set up on top of the bed of a vintage truck outside. The lone person pouring the beers behind the counter was super nice as well. Can't wait to drop by next time I am back in the area!

For this brewery Steven and I tried one of their beers. We wanted a lighter beer and on the refreshing side since it was a warmer day we were encountering so we got the Dye-It Pils. As the name is a abbreviated in the beer it is a pilsner in beer type and hit the spot nicely. Flavors to enjoy with this beer are a hint of breadiness, crisp, a hint of sour and a clean finish. The beer is light bodied which is perfect for hot weather and bright in color. The taproom for Infamous is cool... it is located in a garage or shed. At least that's the impression I got with the taproom. It was a great place to kick back and relax.
