Truly the worst steak experience we've ever had. We were sold on the 32oz. "special" tomahawk steak and ordered it medium rare. It came to us raw and kicking. We then asked them to re-fire for a few more minutes and it came back to us burnt beyond taste or recognition. They charged us $125 for this burnt hunk of meat and offered a free beer rather than fixing with a new steak. They also left the original baked potato and veggies on the board while they "recooked" our steak so the final delivery of the sides were ice cold. Yikes. The food is not consistent. Our table ordered two filets. One was raw and one was correctly done. They were absolutely tiny and not worth it at all. The filet was $33 and very over priced considering it was tiny tiny tiny. The broccoli was very sad. The broccoli was either steamed too long or it was boiled, either way the broccoli was plain and sad. And now the mashed potatoes ooh boy stay away from them. Me and my sister orders mashed potatoes at the same time. Her potatoes tasted like they were on the brink of being rotten, they were absolutely bottom of the barrel. The steak tasted good but overate would give the chef an F on overall consistency and quality. My filet was also quite tough and chewy. This place is very disappointing. We went on a Friday evening to celebrate grandsons 8th grade graduation. Made reservations on line just to be told on line reservations don't work. We didn't have to wait long though. It's a fun restaurant with animal heads all over and a Tesla machine they put on once in a great while. The food was WAY too expensive for what we got. Prime rib was overcooked, and no au jus with it. The Rib eyes were over cooked. And no salads offered with the dinners. The bread was a strange muffin like thing that was ok, but nothing beats good sourdough with garlic butter. Service was good, but with the prices if the dishes, the tip has to be fairly large and it was just too much money for what we got. read more

I just had my third experience and probably last dinner at Shamus. The service was slow. The food was so salty and too smokey (is it liquid smoke?)... either way... way too much. First visit, I ordered a blue cheese bacon burger, and it was good. Second visit, i had ribs that were chewy and Buffalo wings that were cooked too quickly and clung to the bone. (Overly smokey that time also... a fake smoke flavor, I think. This visit, I tried to do the burger again but man.... the salt. It was salty and overly smoked yet again. My son liked the bbq chicken. He thought it was amazing. He is 13. We ended up waiting for super long for all parts of the meal. It isn't bad, but when the isn't that great and the prices are high, it just sours the whole experience. read more

Cool place, but when we went there it was sooo hot inside the restaurant, it had to be above 90 degrees plus the fire place was burning. Had to ask for someone to open the windows, and when they finally did it took a long time to cool down, so we were really uncomfortable the whole dinner. The food was good, we both ordered the 16oz ribeye with salad and mashed potatoes. Steaks were good, but for $45 way too expensive. The potatoes were bland but good, had to add lots of salt and pepper, the salad was good. But for $45 probably not a second trip back. Omg this place is awful! My husband and I ate there once. I ordered pork ribs what I got was pork Jerry dried onto the bone. It was so dry I actually got a sliver of the meat in my lip. It hurt like hell and the side dish of chili made me want to give them my recipe. It tasted like they put vinegar in it. Went a second time with a girlfriend for her birthday. Neither of us were happy with our meals. I won't try a 3rd time. I can tell you if you want a good cut of meat cooked to order go to the AA bar. I understand that restaurants are struggling with Covid, but come on! I was staying at the hotel just up the street, saw the sign for the restaurant, and called to order pickup. The phone rang for 5 mins, no answer. I tried again, no answer - third time, no answer. So, I ventured out to over at the desk. There was a line outside of people waiting to be seated, no one maintaining safe distance. Inside, the host greeted me. When I asked if I could order to go, he rolled his eyes, begrudgingly offered a menu and said the order would take 40-50 minutes. Ok, they are busy. He took my order, two meals, two appetizers = $79. The host took my number and said he would call when it was ready. I left and went for a walk. 20 mins later I return. Without going in, I see an order in a bad sitting on the counter, so I check my phone - no message. Not wanting to step back into a crowded restaurant any sooner than necessary, I waited. 10 mins later, still no call, but I decide to ask. Sure enough, the order sitting on the counter getting cold was my order. When I asked for utensils, the host said they were out. It was Friday night, and they were out? I asked if he could check in the back. 5 mins later he comes back to confirm they were out. The food? Well, other than being pretty cold by the time I got back to my hotel (a 2 min walk), it had decent flavor, but for the price the services were super small. No way I'm going back. read more

I ordered the brisket plate ($22.99), cheesy mashed potatoes for a side. The veggies and brisket were inedible. The brisket was literally ALL fat and the little meat that I could pick apart was tough. My plate was full of fat and grease. I took a picture, finally spoke to the server who offered to get me brisket in a To Go box. He brought 3 decent strips of non fatty brisket. (I wondered why I couldn't have been served that in the 1st place.) Not a good use of my time or money. I do not recommend, unfortunately. read more

Went here on a whim, hadn't been for several years Our steaks were nicely, properly cooked. Smallest filet ever. The "sauce" that came with the filet was not pleasant. Ordered an extra addition of cheesy mashed potatoes. Not good, greasy. Regular mashed potatoes, in a cup with a piece of melted, dried out cheese on top. Potatoes were cold on the bottom of the cup. The veg that came with was either over or under cooked. The broccoli did not look fresh. We have both been not feeling well since the meal, didn't eat much of it. Service was good. My wife took me to Shamus for my birthday last week. I've only been there one time and it was not bad! So we go in and order our drinks. It takes about 10 minutes to get our drinks and then the waitress takes our order. I order pasta and my wife orders chicken and we both had chowder. Here is my experience 1) we never got refills for our drinks. (Not one refill) 2) we got our soup AFTER the meal was served. 3) when we got our soup it was colder than lukewarm AND it had a sour taste to it (like it had spoiled). 4) entrees were not bad but chicken was cold. My pasta had good flavor 5) last but not least, our server never checked up on us despite there only being 3-4 people and 3 waiters available. This is not the kind of quality or service I expected from this kind of establishment. read more

My wife and I have been frequenting Shamus for our date nights over the last 4 years. However, it seems this place has taken a bit of a dive for take-out customers due to COVID. We ordered take-out, as per usual, for our date night and the food was barely warm, the ribs were dry, and the wings were undercooked. We thought it was probably just a fluke due to COVID. We recently gave them another shot last week, but the same thing happened. Ribs were cold and dry, wings were undercooked, cold, and weren't even coated in the sauce. They forgot my side, they forgot the dipping sauces for the artichoke, fries, and wings, and the garlic fries were swimming in oil. The portions were way off as well, tons of fries in one box, and the other box was half full. The last bit, I ordered a full rack of ribs, paid for a full rack of ribs, and got a half-rack. I don't know if they did it on purpose because we refuse to "dine-in" during COVID, or if they just neglected the order. Either way, it was not good. I understand orders are going to be off once in a while, and people are human, but this last time was ridiculous. My wife and I will be taking our weekly date nights elsewhere from now on. We had an excellent experience here from beginning to end. We initially went because it was walking distance from the hotel we were staying in and because you get a 10% discount here (which we forgot to ask for :( When we arrived there was a 35-40 minute wait so we sat in the bar. We ordered a mojito and a beer. The mojito was exceptional. Our table was ready in only about 15-20 minutes or so. We were initially sat in a busy walkway but asked for a more quiet table and were granted one with no problem. My salmon, veggies and strawberry salad were fantastic. My husband wanted ribs but they were out. They were actually out of a lot of things and it was only 7:10pm, so that was a little disappointing. He ordered a BBQ plate that was good, but the chicken breast was really hard and dry. Our son's pesto pasta was WAY too rich- too much cheese/pesto. He actually got sick later from it. The lemon berry desert was very good and the churros were warm and crispy. Our waitress, Jocelyn, was very sweet and attentive. Even under stress from other tables who were unhappy about the number of items that they were out of, she remained calm and professional. She was happy and friendly. In all, I think the staff was the star of the show- from the hostess, bartendress, and waitress- everyone was great. read more

Not to fatty and tender. The shrimp was tasty too. The salad bar was okay. Not the most choices of toppings. The wife had the filet. She enjoyed it. The service was ok. Less then what I expected for 30 a plate meals. The server, KC, put our drinks in the middle of the table instead of giving each if us our drinks. When he brought the main course it was the same thing. He put the plates down without saying here is your filet or ribeye. He didn't check if they were cooked to order. I don't remember him checking on us until we were done. KC did ask if we wanted dessert as he cleared our plates. No ice tea refill until I asked for the check. I would go back because the goid was good but maybe the manager will read this and talk to severs. Although this is a nice and spacious dining area food left a bad impression. Clam chowder more full of potatoes and had like 2 tiniest pieces of clams. My ribeye was nicely cooked and flavorful but the sides not so much. Jasmine rice cold and the broccoli and red bell peppers very over cooked. Our other dish was the 12 oz prime rib. Which had au jus sauce that was basically the oil dripping. It's was tasteless and oily. And don't think the buss boy or waiter knew what au jus sauce was to be and that I might say falls on the part of the chef's. The augratin potatoes not sure if I'd call them that. Just big chunks of potatoes in a heavy cream with American cheese melted on top. And maybe it's a local eatery for y'all but definitely not worth the quality. You will be disappointed. Went in an hour before close and the place was pretty emptily. A few tables if that were seated. Just two of us and we were given probably the worst table imaginable. Food came out in a timely manner but the pork sliders had almost no pulled pork and were cold and my medium rare 16oz ribeye was cooked well. The 2 girls waiting on us were rushing us to finish and brought my a to go box and the check not even halfway through finishing my steak. I have eaten at this restraunt many times. The service was beyond slow ,and they were not busy. The food was cold. The prime rib was ordered med rare, it came out cold with solid fat. When asked for aujus , it took 15 min to get it and it was grease. When that was sent back , the server never came back. Our bills were wrong.
