I did not think it was very spicy, but my daughter said it was too spicy for her. Good thing she ordered the mild version of garlic chicken; see below. Decent portions. Garlic Chicken - A more mild version of the above. But with rice and mac rather than fries. A slightly healthier version. Ahi Poke Bowl - My wife's choice. Generous portions, especially the tuna; thank you. Because this is raw, we "forced" ourselves to finish this dish first. So good. And to wash it down, supporting local, Sticky Finger IPA. Ambiance - Small local business. The food truck was parked in the rear of the building. Due to the rain, I did not take pictures. Plenty of mall parking. Open 5 days a week, 11:30am to 7pm; closed on Monday and Tuesday. Service - Counter service. Overall okay. Price - $62 + tip. Reasonably priced as we pretty much took an entree to-go. First timer here! I was surprised with the spicy chicken garlic fries. I wish I could have ordered a side of sauce since the fries felt somewhat dry but delicious. The chicken was a generous portion. I enjoyed how patient the cashiers were. I used a VISA gift card and they didn't try to rush me, despite having clients in line. Thanks!! We had the best experience with Pineapple Express for our wedding catering!!! The pork sliders and spam masubi were a huge hit with our guests. For the main dishes we went with pulled pork, chicken katsu, and seared ahi. I'm not a fan of fish, but this ahi was amazing. We ordered lunch from here for an event and it was delicious! They were great to work with and even delivered which made everything so much easier on us. The macaroni salad is amazing and I am still drooling over the Teri bbq chicken. I haven't been inside the restaurant yet, but the food is GOOD. I have been to the food truck and it's good there too, the only downside is the food wasn't heated up evenly and I got cold spots in the chicken, luckily it wasn't icy! If the line wasn't so crazy I would have asked for more heat up. Can't wait to eat in person soon! read more

I've never been to the food truck, but have wanted to eat here since they opened their brick and mortar in the old "Humboldt Soup Company" building. I came in on a Thursday at about 6:30, , and the place was packed. even after waiting in line, there was a 30 minute wait to get food. I left. The next day, I did the smart thing and called ahead I ordered the loco moco. They said, "Sandwich, or plate"? I've never heard of a loco moco sandwich. I ordered the plate. I drove down. You can pick up your food inside, or you can go to the drive up window. I picked up my food, and headed home. Overall, it was good! The mac salad was creamy and delicious. The rice was a big portion, and perfectly done. The burger was a good size, tender and delicious, and also had mushrooms and onions. 2 minor misses for me. The eggs were good, but were just slightly overdone. When I popped them, I didn't get the amount of runny yolk that I love. Part of the yolk was solid. Also, while the gravy was good, I wish there had been more of it. The price was a tiny bit on the high end, but very worth it. I want to come back and try other things. Thanks!!! read more

Delectable! I had the shoyu chicken and wish I knew the best words to use to encourage everyone to try this plate. This chicken is really great, very tender with a hint of sweetness. Brown rice and macaroni salad accompanied the chicken, which was served in a bed of tasty cabbage. I will get the green salad next time since I'm not a huge fan of Mac salad (had to try it once though) but gonna have to go for the shoyu chicken again because when I find something that I find absolutely delightful, it's difficult to not order it. The last time we came up to Eureka, we didn't have a chance to visit this restaurant. However we made the time a couple of weekends ago and I'm so happy we did. The food was fantastic!! I got the island fish fry and it was fantastic. The fish was crispy and light, it didn't feel greasy at all. The sauce was a chili garlic aoli which complimented the fish well. The fries were perfectly fried, and they were topped with katsu sauce and the same aoli that was used with the fish, and topped with furikake. I really wanted to finish the plate, but I ended up taking half of it home and it was still delicious after being air fried. My fiancé got the Northern Island style shrimp and it was good! He said it was more of a soy garlic sauce which was delicious. The shrimp was huge, and the sauce was sticking to the shell perfectly, and the rice was a great pairing for it. The slaw was kind of okay, we think it needed some more acid to balance out the richness of the shrimp. It didn't really have too much flavor to it in our opinion. The mac salad was good, always have to order it whenever we get any Hawaiian food. The noodles were just beyond al dente which gave them a nice texture. It was creamy and had a bit of herbiness to them which was really nice. My fiance said it tasted like home cooked Hawaiian food, and we enjoyed everything there. The restaurant was cute and it was easy to find since the building was painted a teal-ish color. It was starting to get pretty busy when we came in, a lot of tickets were being printed and it seemed like a good amount of orders were phone orders. They had two gaming machines and sold stickers too, and I wish I bought the musubi and shrimp sticker! I would love to come back here the next time I head up to Eureka. read more

this place and the beach are the highlight of Eureka. it's classified as a food truck on Yelp and Google, but it's like a cafe/restaurant (there are chairs and tables inside you can eat at) with a drive through for pick up orders only. it's affordable and the portion sizes are HUGE ! pictures don't do it justice. i ordered the combo plate with popcorn chicken, spicy garlic chicken, white rice, and the mac salad. this is some of the best food i've ever had. the chicken is deep fried but so soft, juicy, and tender. definitely eat at this spot :) read more

I am still thinking about the food here. We drove through Eureka and I was a little concerned because not that many places were looking good on Yelp. My husband has pretty specific dietary needs so we tend to stick with asian food. The pictures of the food for pineapple express are what got me, it looked really good on yelp and once we read reviews saying there was an eat-in location we decided to head here for lunch. It was pretty busy, there were a few people in line and not many available tables, but once we ordered there were a couple tables available so that was not an issue. My husband ordered the shoyu chicken with double rice and I ordered the Island Style fish and chips. The food came out so much faster than I thought and looked soooo good, I was practically drooling. One bite of the furikake fries and I was in love. The sauce... omg... the sauce. It was so freaking good that I went through probably half the fries before even touching the fish. When I did take a bite of the fish... heaven. So tender, perfectly cooked, crispy breading and not super fatty or greasy. I ate the entire thing which was a terrible idea because it was way too much food for me. I was painfully full afterwards, but it was a really healthy (or not) portion size. My husband said his chicken was cooked perfectly and really enjoyed his food. I didn't try any because the portion of chicken was a bit small and he couldn't eat mine due to previous mentioned dietary restrictions plus I was already struggling with my own meal. The very nice and helpful woman in front of me in line told me she is obsessed with the coconut shrimp so I would probably try that next time, but unfortunately we don't live anywhere near here *sob*. Quick friendly service, the menu is to the point, lunch plates and sandos with some cool apps with a daily special board. Solid flavors and a cool menu as well as daily specials. I went with a special of that day the pulled pork mango tacos and they were very good, full flavored and just enough spicy, served with fried chips and a mango chutney/salsa. Pulled pork mango tacos off the board, delicious three fat tacos with white corn shells stuffed full with tender pulled pork with jalepenos, bbq sauce, a little shredded lettuce and mango chutney. Three is a lot, and you could easily share this with someone. I ate two and saved the third for the next day, and it was still tasty as leftovers. This food truck has just started coming to north humboldt, if you see them well worth a stop and try. We visited their new restaurant location and ordered the coconut shrimp (perfectly crispy and with toppings and amazing furikake fries), the shoyu chicken (so flavorful and with ono mac salad), and kalua pig nachos (wonton chips with smoky, perfectly cooked kalua pork, jack cheese, and house pineapple-mango chutney). Who knew there was such a great Hawaiian experience on the Avenue of the Giants?! I surprised my hubby, who only knew we were going to a food truck, which he was excited about. Imagine his happy reaction when he saw the menu! We both got Spam musubi and shared Kalua pork nachos and the shoyu chicken plate with mac salad. I also got a POG (papaya, orange, guava) to really round out my island reminiscing. The meats were all cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY. The mac salad had a little too much mayo (the noodles were limp and almost falling apart in my chopsticks) and not quite enough seasoning. The musubi could have also used a little furikake and thicker Spam slice, but it was delicious and a little sweet. Truly a perfect meal before an epic trek to Needle Rock and Bear Harbor! My family and I had been wanting to try this place but it was always so busy that the line was out the door and we didn't. Today we decided to go. I wanted to love it, I really did. I couldn't even like it, honestly. First impression- cute inside, but dirty seating, floor, and lots of employees standing around. We really had one seating option that wasn't absolutely filthy, and the door was open so there were flies inside. I get it, we get flies here, but it was bad and they were landing on our face and body, cups, table, etc. definitely should have a screen door! The sun was in our face so we wanted to move, but again, the tables were dirty and we saw some sort of sauce on the floor underneath, so we stayed in our seat. Food- decent, but not great. Not one of us finished our food, and I have two teenaged boys that play sports and eat pretty much anything. I got Kalua pig and it was ok, the sauce was awful and tasted like plain ketchup with sugar in it. The mac salad was bland and definitely needed salt, and my rice was gooped together into one big clump. My husband got some teriyaki chicken or something. He liked the chicken but hated the sauce and the sauce was on the rice, so he basically ate chicken that he wiped clean of the sauce. Staff and service was great! Waited less than 15 minutes for our food during lunch rush. Being vegan with a gluten allergy, my options in Humboldt county are extremely limited. There were at least two options on their menu that catered to my dietary choices/allergy which is a lot more than other restaurants in the area. My only complaint was that my tofu poke bowl was so salty, it was inedible. :( My son's chicken katsu and fries were also covered in salt. Good news, is that they take food allergens seriously and I did not get sick from any cross contamination I am so appreciative that they have options for me and I will be back in the future. The service is fantastic as long as you are aware it's a new restaurant and they have large amounts of demand so you will wait a bit. They dressed up the ambiance and have cute swing area and chairs outside to wait for orders. They give you a pager for to go orders so you can wander which was nice. read more
