Came in while in Humboldt, and I'd list the experience as OK. Yelp says that's 3 stars, so I'll give it that. If a really big craving for sushi hits you, and you're in Fortuna, this might be the only sit down restaurant option you have. Portions are big, and felt like an OK value for thenprice they're seeking. The people working there were all cool and good. We came in lunch and took advantage of the lunch specials they had. As a result, we got to try 4 of their rolls. The quality of the fish: I wouldn't expect top grade or the feeling that it came straight from the nearby ocean. Any rolls that had tempura, or the rolls themselves were fried, were interesting. The batter of the tempura was uneven, making some pieces absolutely humongous. The sauces they used, they were solid. I had eaten at Kome a few years ago and had really poor service and the food was subpar. After giving it another chance I can truthfully say I will probably never hear again. With the understanding that we arrived within the hour of closing (no acknowledgment or warning from staff), the staff took approximately 25 minutes to get our order placed and would avoid coming to the table to check on us. I would have assumed it was their priority to have our services be done quickly but that was not the case. To add once we did get glasses of water, glasses smelled of dirty sponge and old water. When our food was being brought out the waitress would cut across the table almost hitting my husband in the face and dropping the dishes. As we ate, no one came to check on us, refill our waters, or finish bringing us our beverages. No level of communication was expressed when the kitchen had closed or that they needed us to be out by a certain time. I closed out the bill and I was not given an itemized receipt was charged for a drink we never got at the very least. The staff left to the kitchen and avoided waiting our table or giving us to go boxes. After finally flagging someone down we got a box then promptly left alone at the in the front of house. And for still being a decent human being I left a decent tip as a thank you at the end of our so called "dining experience". Rough estimate for our meal came out to approximately $69; charged $75.88, left a $20 cash tip on the table. Overall, this experience was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had and will not be dining here again. My sweetheart and I just went here again after years of avoiding it because of portions and price... we were SO HAPPY with the difference. The food was AMAZING. Prices were totally reasonable and they have a lunch special every single day (excluding Mother's Day) for $22-26 for two special rolls. Absolutely worth the price! Service was a tiny bit slow but that's because it's a small town.. our rural community moves slower haha Definitely recommend! Go visit! read more

Super quiet sushi spot in Fortuna. We thought they were closed at first but when we walked in with our daughter, they told sit anywhere, we let our daughter pick, so we sat in the middle of the restaurant. The service was good. This might be the best sushi I've ever had... Not only are the rolls gigantic, but the rice is warm and fluffy, the ingredients are fresh and they definitely give you tons of filling! The staff is incredibly friendly and so fast! I had quite a big to-go order and it was ready in 20 minutes! The prices are so so good, especially for what you're getting. Any place else would charge twice as much for your sushi that was half as good. This is definitely our new go-to spot. I would give this place a 3.5 star rating. As previous reviews state, this is an average sushi restaurant but probably one of the better establishments in the area, the price is a big plus. The specialty sushi rolls we're $10 - $13 each while the plain rolled were all around $6.50. it's a pretty standard/basic menu as far as the specialty rolls go. Our server Briana was kind, quick and attentive. She really deserves 5 stars! I saw her helping a elder handicapped man to his car, now that's service. The food itself is just meh but like I said, good for the area. We ordered 5 rolls, philly, Klamath, dragon, rainbow and redbull. Each roll was good, the tempura shrimp did not taste so fresh on the dragon. The rainbow roll was made with baby shrimp (probably frozen) which really threw me off. The Klamath roll, made of tempura salmon, tasted like it was frozen salmon. I could be wrong but the salmon just didn't taste fresh. Taste wise the rolls were'nt very impressive. Oh and side note: the Dr. Pepper tastes like Root beer. The building is attractive and spacious, it would be a good place for a large group or dining with kids. Very authentic Japanese cuisine. I had the salmon in miso sauce, it was very good! It came with either a California roll or a veggie roll, steamed veggies, miso or salad and rice. As stated in previous posts the ginger beef was terrible. Serving the beef with pickled ginger on the side qualifies for ginger beef???? The beef was tough and chewy. The miso soup was good and served hot. The California roll [sic] was 99 percent rice and no signs of California to be found. Very disappointing meal. read more

Got the Klamath Roll that said it came with tempura crispies on top but it was SMOTHERED in what tasted/looked like panko breadcrumbs straight from the box. Was not impressed and didn't taste grest. The restaurant was pretty empty and very quiet, and the food was just ehhh. Probably won't go back since I like other local sushi restaurants much more. Their rolls are very big though, so if you find one you love it could be great! read more
