Food was mediocre at best. I had chicken & ribs platter. The sweet glaze covering everything was not what I would expect from a BBQ place. Baked potato was cool. Veggies looked like they had been cooking most of the day. Off-color and tasteless. My SO had filet mignon. It was a good cut but had to go back to the kitchen because it was barely rare. The food was pretty good, I didn't love the decor- I found it kind of unsettling. If you don't mind dead animals (real or fake) mounted all around you and staring into your soul as you eat their dead friends, it's probably a better place than I'm rating but I couldn't personally get past it. The service was decent, a little slow for what I expected of the time of day and amount of people but still not too mad at it. What can I say about this place? Cruising the upper PCH, up there called the Old Redwood Hwy, I was amazed at the beauty of the area and had to grab some local fare. After dodging a few dozen drug addled homeless ppl I safely got inside and was treated to some of the best service, hospitality, and food I've had in a while! The place is super cool, lot's of stuff to look at on the walls and fun random things throughout. The oysters are effing amazing (get the original broiled) the Shamus mule terrific and again the staff, a great crew!! Felt totally at ease! Unfortunately that changes when you walk out the door and sober up quickly seeing the aforementioned homelessness running the area. We were there about 4 p.m. on 12/31/23. It wasn't busy. The greeter was nice and gave us a decent table. The view was nice. The waiter was also nice but some of the food was terrible. I got the pasta with shrimp. The shrimp was good but the pasta had an odd taste. Then, I tasted the "garlic toast". WTF. It was nasty. It was soggy in the middle and tasted like they drug it across a dirty, burnt grill. I told the waiter and he responded "it is smoky". No, it tasted burnt without being burnt. My husband's steak was ok, not great, but edible. Then, the cheque arrives. At the bottom it suggests the tip amounts of $15%, 18% & 20%. I look at the 18% and when slip comes for signature I click on 18%. I get home and realize it is $1.50 more than what was indicated on the cheque. I doubt we will go back. Way too expensive for quality of food and I don't like being deceived. read more

My favorite restraunt just turned into the restraunt ill probably never go to again. The #1 steakhouse in Humboldt County only serves prime rib on Thurs, fri n Sat. What?. My birthday is today, Wednesday. I ordered prime rib, w/o knowing they don't serve it on Wednesday. So, starting with...not getting biscuits when we sat down, not getting prime rib, ordering the ribeye med n getting it so well done n charred I couldn't eat it, baked potato wasn't cooked all the way, croutons in salad were stale & the chicken (in ceasar salad ) was rubbery. No where on the menu did it say onions. I hate onions. We were out all day riding and just wanted something to eat. Then the bill comes. They tack on 18% gratuity. Doesn't matter if the service was good or not. Waitress would not have gotten that much. So we paid $7.79 and then they suggested another 15% at lowest. Then there is a surcharge of $1.68 if we used a card for payment. There are other place to eat close by. I would not suggest this place at all. Very over priced for guilty. read more

This is a great local American-style steakhouse. I ordered the ribeye and wasn't disappointed. The steak was very tasty and juicy. The vegetable sides, though, were not at the same level, so that's why I am not giving 5-stars. Our party of 5 had rib tip tacos, burgers, a steak and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. All the dishes were either luke warm or cold. My burger I asked to be prepared medium was burnt. We would have sent back our food, but it took 27 minutes for it to come out to our table and our waitress disappeared. Was REALLY disappointed about their lunch menu on a Sunday. They have a very limited menu which would be better during the week than a weekend. I came in for the strawberry and spinach salad which wasn't an option, and I ordered a mimosa that arrived in a dirty glass. This is normally one of my favorites but to come in at 1 pm on a Sunday and get an ok, tasteless sandwich and a house salad that consisted of greens and some goat cheese.....Very disappointing!!! First time coming here... It was okay.. I don't recommend getting a steak if you eat it with A1 sauce. They don't give you A1 sauce only this BBQ sauce of their own I believe. Went in to treat ourselves with steaks, which is a rare treat. They were all out of the dry aged steaks so we ordered regular rib eyes. Was very disappointed in the quality of the steaks. They were very fatty (1/3-1/2 fat) and not very flavorful. I have gotten better steaks from Safeway. The chowder wasn't very exciting either. The corn was n the cob was dried out. The food was decent, but a little pricey for the portions and quality - my cup of chili was only warm but a small quibble. I did like that they used actual blue cheese on my salad (when asked for blue cheese dressing) The environment was too loud - music was on too high, and we had to yell to converse. The filet mignon was good, but the rest of my food came out cold. It was a bit disappointing for the $50 price tag. The service was very slow and our waitress seemed very overwhelmed. I invited a friend to dinner to share a tomahawk steak. I must say, the establishment was nice, but very loud especially when they started up the Tesla coil as a side attraction. The person that waited on my table was polite, cheerful and prompt. My issue was the food. The Tomahawk steak was $125.00 and came with vegetables and baked potato. I was told the steak was 32 ounces, but they were obviously weighing the bone as well. In reality, the steak was probably only 12-14 ounces. It was not trimmed of excess grissle or tendons, leaving it somewhat stringy and impossible to chew when eating the end pieces. It had char all over the edges and the bone was burned black. It had an aftertaste of being cooked in a grease fire. In all reality, this was a $45.00-$50.00 bone in rib eye, badly done. The vegetables that arrived on the serving platter were steamed/boiled into a mushy mix of summer squash and broccoli. The grilled corn cobs had a strong taste of being burned on the grill in the same grease fire as the tomahawk steak. While we drowned the steak in A-1 sauce, nothing could salvage the corn cobs and we could not stomach the taste. I ordered coleslaw with the dinner and it was absolutely foul. It was dry cabbage, no dressing and tastes like it has soured. I was told the cook staff changed the recipe by adding celery salt. We were not charged for it. The baked potato and dessert were both fine and unfortunately the best part of the meal. The total for the evening came to $161.00. Shamus T Bones added a $4.99 surcharge to my bill for paying with a credit card, I tipped the waitress $40.00 because she was prompt, polite and respectful. It goes without saying, I will not be returning nor recommending Shamus T Bones in Eureka California to anyone. It is probably my worst dining experience ever. I am sure they could care less about ratings, but if you read this at least you will know what could be served to you if ordering a steak. If you want a steak go somewhere that you know and trust. If you are a frequent customer of Shamus T Bones and you like their food, great, good for you, I think food at this price point should be cooked by a competent chef and not cooked and presented like a backyard hamburger. read more
