Poor Customer Service; Scam - they list prices, start work , add additional items without saying anything and then claim that they don't discuss prices upfront because they are a Salon. End Result: one upset crying wife, 1 upset crying - month old baby, a call to the police non-emergency line by me to find out what is going on and out $200 for ruined hair (she is now a light brown with the older section looking like what happens when you wash green or purple dye out of someones hair) because it wasn't worth arguing/going to court when its 12:30 am, and I have to be at work the next morning. At the end my wife/I would have paid happily for hair coloring job done properly or if they had offered to fix their mistake, which didn't happen. Details below
My wife just had our first child, she had nothing done to her hair in 10 months because she was worried about chemicals during our first pregnancy and was looking forward to getting it colored. She wanted it all the same color with some highlights (natural brunette and about 1/2 her hair was an ashy blond from 10 months ago). She was very happy she found someplace that was open late, had great reviews and made an appointment for 6:30 pm. She went in prices were posted on a board and hair coloring was $60.00, they started the process and didn't tell my wife that they weren't just doing a color. 3 hours later, they said they were doing/had to do a color addition; this is what the past 3 hours were for. I called my wife at 10:00 (3.5 hours after her appointment, when they were supposed to close) and she was in tears because they had ruined her hair. They then told her it would be 5 more minutes, I called my wife back at 11:15 pm and she was crying even harder because the owner (Abel) told her he had written down her license plate was calling the cops and she would be arrested because she was refusing to pay for the ruined hair. My wife came home, still crying, saying they tried to charge her $210 for color addition and she refused to pay. I called the police non-emergency to find out if he had filed a police report, he had, spoke with the officers on call and went over to settle and he started lying from the start. He claimed it should have been $500 ($100 an hour, $290 dollars more than he told my wife when she tried to leave only said this because the police officers were there), when I pointed out there was no prices for "Color addition", that his stylist didn't tell my wife until well into the process that they had to do a color addition, and nothing had been discussed about more/additional work and she had come in for a coloring $60 (listed price, again no price for color addition!!! posted), he said the famous line "We're a salon we don't discuss prices because our clients don't want to". Then said my wife just left, when I asked how could he write down her license plate and threaten her with arrest while she was crying if she just left, to this he had no response. He then claimed that my wife had used chemicals on her hair recently and that's why the problems occur. Again she had been pregnant and had used chemical type body products (hair or otherwise) for 10 months because she was worried about the baby. She even waited a month after birth to get her hair colored. I ended up paying $200.00 because it wasn't worth having a police report out there for my wife for "Theft of Services", which would be what would happen if I didn't settle. Had the two police officers as witnesses that he received the money and got a receipt paid in full. I'm filing complaints with everyone to warn of this scam setup. Please make sure you know exactly what you are getting before you go to this salon for anything or avoid them completely. read more
