Thanks Kelly Kay at Shampoo Ink for my perfectly colored warm & golden dark brunette hair with medium brown highlights. Her artist's eye knows the intricacies of color. 1) great with highlights on brown hair; 2) great with spreading out services over several visits 3) great with cuts & keeping hair healthy. 4) the salon works together to get the best results. I like her ability to keep highlights brown (not bleach blonde), 'natural' looking (just a few shades lighter than my main color), & blended. She knows how to change her color process when my hair needs change or when I want it a little lighter or darker this time. Her long or short cuts are also good. When my long hair was looking ragged, & unhealthy, followed her suggestion that I cut it short so it can grow back really thick. But I thought about it, clearly told her why I was chicken and what I wanted, and she told me what my hair could & could not do, I cut it, grew it back. Wow, its thicker. I even got compliments on the awesome shorter du, which I did have to get used to having different hair & learning to style that different hair (I think most people have problems with that change.) I have seen the salon like an office of skilled professionals working together for the best results, (kinda like the doctors on House). I like that. Over the years, I have also noticed the salon growing, changing, improving, But, this review is long enough. To get good advice on hair I don't think going to just any other stylist or salon would result in the great hair I have. I recommend Kelly! and the people at Shampoo Ink. read more

Nutshell: I get compliments on my cut and color literally every day and I tell everyone I get it done at Shampoo Ink. All the stylists are wonderful, but I recommend Able for short cuts and Theo for coloring. They really know their stuff. When I moved to Phoenix a little over a year ago I was looking for a new stylist and struggling to find one I really liked. My last stylist, who I loved and trusted exclusively, suggested I find my next stylist by looking around for other people who had really good hair and asking them where they get it done. Then...I saw him. The man with the best hair cut I'd seen in Phoenix, and probably ever of all time. It was perfect. I asked him where he had it done, and he told me to ask for Able at Shampoo Ink on 7th street. He said he was also recommended by a friend and he had been 100% happy with Shampoo Ink ever since. Now I am too! The stylists at Shampoo Ink helped me gracefully transition through some major hair changes. I've gone from long to short, and short to pixie. Recently, after a home-highlighting mishap, Able and Theo helped me go from brunette to ashy blonde. It's awesome! It looks totally runway/rockstar. I get compliments literally every day. Strangers stop me in public to tell me my hair looks great. I tell everyone to go here! I don't trust anyone else with my hair now. Thanks guys! read more

My daughter worked for this "salon" under the management of a guy named Abel. I found out that he pays his help only $20 per day and she worked 12 or more hours each day!! He strung her along for months promising a promotion and more money but it never materialized. When my daughter found another job and put in her notice, Abel was so upset that he wouldn't be able to take advantage of her anymore that he gathered up her salon tools which are valued at over $2000 and took her tools to his house; refusing to release them to her! He also refused to pay for the last week of work she did there. I called the police tonight and tomorrow we are going to the salon with a police escort to get her tools back or else we will charge the owner with the crime of theft. I tried to avoid using the police but Abel refused to talk to me over the phone about this situation and seemed not to care when I told him I would bring in the police if necessary to get my daughter's tools back. Please think twice before using this business to get your hair done. Abel seems to take advantage of young girls who don't have experience or knowledge about Arizona's labor laws and makes empty promises of big money in the future if they work long hours for little pay. read more

I haven't trusted a professional with my hair since a young teenager due to a horrific cut and colour! I decided enough was enough and I needed to get my hair done. Considering my style is more on the alternative style, I wanted to go to a place that reflected that and would have no problem doing what I was asking for even if it's not 'traditional'. After scouring the internet to find a salon that matched my needs, I stumbled across Shampoo Ink. Thank goodness for it too. I walked right in this morning and was immediately greeted by Victoria! I asked if I could get in that moment and she happily took on the challenge. I was in and out within an hour and I loved every minute of it. We laughed, joked and had a great time! She listened to what I wanted and gave me a cut that I'm super happy with! I will definitely be going back to her and since she understands my love for changing my hair colour often, I'd love for her to colour my hair as well! You're definitely in great hands at this salon! All of the stylists are friendly, the atmosphere is gorgeous and the quality is fantastic! Thank you so much for changing my view! I'll be back! read more

Hi, I just got a refund for haircut at Shampoo Ink in Phoenix,AZ. via living social This was my first time using this, and I have no doubt that it is great, but my husband went in for a haircut and was rudely turned away by someone at the desk who was doing nothing. He just came from a soccer game at BCP. She looked at him up and down and said uh..we are busy. They were just talking he said. I told him to go there after I purchased this because I saw this deal on tv and we wanted to support a minority owned business. I am disgusted I will not patron people who are busy or too cool and who do not live up to the 10-10p advertised hours. Yes, he drove back and it was 9 and they were closed. I managed 2 valley salons and would've fired anyone who was that blatantly rude. Too bad, because my husband had a job interview for a VP position at a major utility company and was willing to give a generous tip. We patron local businesses but not this one. The owner Abel seemed like a good guy on TV . He might want to rethink his coworkers and how they treat the public, you never know who might walk in and need a cut or a service. read more

Read reviews on Yelp and decided to try this place out. The salon is tucked away on 7th Street in Phoenix. Yes parking is sparse, but a drive down Colter and you can park in the neighborhoods (not a far walk). Inside, the salon is pretty typical, but there is good music and, in general, great ambiance. It seems pretty busy, which is good. I was set up with Alli for a cut and an ombre dye. She had to delay my appointment 45 minutes, but upon getting to know her I understood why: she does a great, thorough job with hair. I didn't really mind the wait, and after seeing the hair dye job she did with the client before me, I knew I was in good hands. She's very vibrant and was very enthusiastic about the ideas I had for my hair. She is very, very knowledgeable about color, hair geometry and the likes and I assume it is because she loves what she does. She knew the ins-and-outs of the ombre procedure and my hair turned out exactly how I had imagined it. Sort of eery really! Anyways! Alli is great and so is Shampoo Ink... give it a try! read more

I went to Shampoo Ink yesterday, on a friends recommendation, and got my hair cut by Alli Bee. I went from shoulder length hair to something more modern and manageable (aka less hobo like). The whole idea of getting my long lustrous Fabio locks cut was a bit daunting so I wanted to make sure I got someone good; hence why I went with a friends recommendation. Alli Bee did an amazing job. I don't think I have had the back and sides of my hair does so well. The meticulous care she took shaping the edge of my hair showed she really is a perfectionist and wants her customers to look good. The front and top were great, done better than most and at par with the best I have had. I will continue to go to Alli Bee to get my mop cropped, she is fun, bubbly and easy to talk with; which makes the whole experience of being trapped in a chair while someone zooms around your dome with sharp objects seem like a total treat. read more

Once again, Megan gave me an awesome cut! Other than me trimming my bangs, I won't let anyone else touch my hair! She has great skill with classic styles, but can do anything contemporary you want! And her coloring skills and creativity mean you get stunning results! I also appreciate that she is always honing her craft to give her clients the best experience. I also like that she adapts to what works best. Last time she cut me wet, this time it was dry because of a correction we were doing. Both times the results sent me out the door smiling! I'm glad she found Shampoo Ink, because they really seem to appreciate her skills, artistry and class and they really seem to support their staff! Good for Shampoo Ink, and good for anyone who books a cut or color with Megan! Well worth the drive! read more

Love this salon and most of all, my stylist Alli! She's incredible! I've been coming here for the past year now, always super happy with how she cuts and styles my hair. Recently, I decided to get highlights for the first time and when I explained to Alli how I wanted a really natural look, she knew exactly what to do. She used this awesome technique called balayage where she essentially hand painted the highlights from the ends up. It produced a beautiful, sun-kissed, very natural coloring. I'm so happy with it!!! read more

Abby has been my go-to stylist for about 4 years. She knows my hair, understands my style, and has the expertise to bring my vision to life!! I have very thick, course hair but Abby always finds a way to help me work with what I have and makes me feel good about it too! Establishing this kind of relationship with a stylist is ideal for loving the hair you're in. Even if Idk what I'm going to try next, I look forward to all of my appointments cause I know my girl's gonna take good care of me. read more

I was recommended to see Abel at Shampoo Ink by a friend. I have been going to the same salon for a few years, so I was a little nervous, but I am making the switch! Abel is a hair whisperer for sure! My hair is fine and curly so it's not the easiest to work with, but with little guidance from me, Abel worked wonders with my hair. He's also a great conversationalist and super knowledgeable. The salon overall has a great vibe - as long as I am in the valley, I will be going to see Abel! read more

I have had my hair done by Yuri twice now and I have walked out so happy every time! She is so knowledgeable and does amazing Bayalage (I'm probably spelling that wrong). She took me from absolutely bright green hair from chlorine bleach in the swimming pool to a beautiful light brown. Then I went back to go lighter and I love it just as much as I did the brown. She is a genius and so sweet to talk to. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SALON! read more

If you need incredible color Kelly Kay is the one! She pays attention to detail and takes her time to make sure it;s just right. I don't have extentions but I've seen her work and it's flawless. Very natural looking. If you don't know exactly what you want she is very creative and helpful. Her cuts are always great. I've been going to her for years and it's always worth every penny. The shop is also very cool! read more

NEVER AGAIN !!! Just saw the owner treating the workers like dogs . I like the hair cut but you can't disrespect your employees and belittle them just because you own the place . How disrespectful and unprofessional specially in front of the client . Don't go here there's plenty of other places that respect there employees and give amazing hair cuts . One hint respect all people read more
