If I could give zero stars I would. I went in for a color correction and an all over dye. I had a single round of light brown box dye on my hair and prior to that I had not had anything done to my hair for over a year and a half. I wanted copper brown, honey brown, or medium brown on my hair. During the consult the stylist Rachel did not express that more than one appointment would be needed nor did she express that she was incapable of achieving the desired results. By the time I left the salon it was dark out so I was not able to see what the result was. I woke the next morning to several different colors of red in my hair and a very dark band left which the stylist claimed she had blended out. I expressed at the initial appointment that I did not want dark hair. The whole underneath of my hair is a completely different color than my hot roots and dark band. They made me an appointment for the following day to correct the situation. Upon arrival the stylist did not have a good attitude and said she could do "low lights" to blend the color however she claimed the day prior that the exact method was used however it had no effect on the end result. I asked why a base color was not applied to the blonde of my hair before depositing the color in order to try to balance the hair out with the rest of it. The owner and the stylist recommended dark all over which I stated before any processing was done that I absolutely did not want that. The stylist should have known her scope of practice and remained inside of it. The owner then only gave me a partial refund because the stylist "spent all that time on my hair" even though all she did was damage and ruin my hair. He stated that I am too particular about my hair, which any woman would be if they grew their hair for 13 years. The owner also stated that even though it looks bad in the sunlight that people don't spend most of their time outside, everything seemed to be poor excuses for poor execution and blame being shifted read more

This is the 2nd time I visited this salon. Josie was my hair stylist and was fantastic the first time. She gave me some great blond highlights and the cut was great. The salon isn't much to look at, as it is very basic. They offer water in a cup and coffee (horrible instant coffee) while you are there. If the stylist is good, I can tolerate dive spots to get my hair done correctly. This time Josie failed terribly. I had a touch up base color to cover my graying hair and a trim. Josie disappeared after she put the color on my hair. I sat in the chair for an hour waiting on her to return. I had to interrupt a conversation that two of the sylists were having to ask somebody to track down Josie to see if she was going to return to finish my hair. They called her but she didn't answer. I sat a little longer and another stylist had to wash my hair but didn't know what to do after that and relied on me to answer his questions. Josie finally showed back up in the middle of the hair wash. Not concerned at all that she was gone for an hour and 15 minutes. My color was to process for 45 minutes. She cut my hair in a hurry. One side of my hair has a piece that was chopped so short. It doesn't blend at all! It was a horrible cut and the color is horrible! My hair is all brown (ugly brown) all highlights are gone. I thought I could work with the color and the cut so didn't say much while I was there. As I got ready today for a very important event, I noticed that the cut was horrible and choppy. I was charged $210 for this horrible service. Never again! read more

Hello...I am a 50+ lady who moved to Phoenix 3 years ago and have spent time doing my research re: all the hair salons in Phoenix. For the last 2 weeks, I have called every salon in downtown & phoenix, arcadia, glen-dale that was a 4.7 or higher trying to get an appointment to cut my hair. Some wanted to book me for September or in the middle of the work week. Yesterday, I spent all morning driving around trying to find anyone who would take a walk in. Still nothing. I did get 5 biz cards if I wanted to book in the future. Then, I got to Salon Jo-EL I walked in and they said it would not be a problem and I met Conan. While he is young and green I could not have had a better appointment as my hair was a hot mess and I have far too much. Conan listens and is respectful. Don't recommend seeing Conan, When I booked the service she said I was gonna be with Conan as my stillest, people that do hair should love what they do not just be doing it ,I just wanted to go back to red/violet red I was trying to do color remover to my hair since I did previously die it black. then possibly going dark red velvet, looking color again I asked what was going to be the best way to do it he said he wasn't quite sure we could do it this way he said color remover usually don't work when he does it ! so I asked 5 times if I allow you to bleach my hair since that's the only way you know how to do it is it gonna come out the color I want he said no posible idk like wow Very unprofessional. I booked with this salon online as a last minute decision to get an all over color. I didn't review pricing because All hair is different and I thought this would be discussed in shop. The appointment was for 5:15 but they were running behind. I didn't mind waiting, initially. Then we discussed colors and had settled on a chestnut color with undertones of red in the violet spectrum. I explained how my hair takes to color really fast. It wouldn't need to sit very long. The color came out very vibrant. It came out very red. I Still didn't complain. I was charged 65$ and even left a tip for the stylist. Later I get a call saying they undercharged me. That's now 3 strikes. They didn't even offer to fix the color. They didn't offer to give a discount. Rather they made it about them. He talked to me about how the pricing was online and that holding them hostage by mentioning i would give them a bad review over an honest mistake, was unfair. I'm not a person who leaves reviews of any kind. And I even left a tip as a courtesy. And to be honest, I didn't even have to call back to settle the difference. But I did. But the fact that they wouldn't hold themselves accountable on any front is unprofessional. They didn't apologize, even though they were late, gave me the wrong color, and charged the wrong amount on my card. And didn't offer any sort of restitution. Then spoke to me like I was being unreasonable. I wouldn't recommend this salon. The stylist was friendly. And the color is pretty. My hair is cut in like 3 layer evenly all round my head, big chops throughout my hair and so thick halfway up my hair and thin halfway down my hair! Worst experience EVER. Do not give this place your business. The OWNER (Joel) recommended Conan to do my cut and color. This kid HAS NO CLUE what he is doing. I was appalled the owner would let him even touch anyone's hair. He cannot even make a part or clip your hair up, dropped the comb several times and did not clean it and was SO SLOW. I had to get up and ask for someone to help him. I had to have someone else cut my hair. I am still trying to process how anyone would allow this to happen in their salon.
