This is our favorite Shakey's Pizza Parlor! The staff is so nice and the new owner Hector is amazing! He's always making sure the food is fresh and the parlor is always being cleaned. Good place to bring your family and have a good time. They also have some beer on tap too! They have a salad bar that's pretty good. read more

The buffet isn't very huge but it has many options for pizza toppings and you can request toppings for the staff too. The lunch buffet special is a great deal. It brings me back to my high school days going to our location Shakey's. The arcade area isn't very big but the kids will have fun regardless. Went on Saturday after kids little league baseball game. Hector, Lily and David were very accommodating. They quickly reserved ample seating and everyone enjoyed the food and games available. Customers beware. Tried calling and they didn't answer their phone. Clue number one that we should have chosen somewhere else to eat. But we were craving mojos. So we drove down there. 30 min later we had to go in and ask about order bc they didn't bother buzzing the pager they gave us. Employees also had a terrible attitude. And I ordered full order of mojos and got a little tiny box that wasn't even filled to the top. And a full order of garlic bread is 4 little pieces??? Ridiculous. When I was a kid growing up Shakey's had a presence in the midwest. The style at the time was 50s/60s "traditional" something like a German beer hall, with dark wood paneling and furnishings, and bench seating and a roaring fireplace in one into the room... That look is long gone, but the pizza hasn't changed a bit - delicious, thin crust with a hint of cornmeal with savory (and slightly sweet) sauce and a wide array of topping options. For those with a serious appetite, Shakey's has a solid classic hot and cold lunch buffet with pasta and sauce, fried or baked chicken, mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, pasta salads, and more, all at a reasonable lunch buffet price. If the kids get restless while your are feasting, bust out the quarters for a little arcade/carnival action. The experience was topped off by the courteous and helpful staff. Stopped in here to celebrate my friends daughters birthday. I have been to a few Shakeys in the IE and OC and this one by far is the smallest! Her party was setup in the front and was sectioned off from the rest of the restaurant which I thought was cool. The pizza, fried chicken & mojos were all set up when we got there. There is a section in the back with games for the kiddos. I did not personally go back to see how much the games were so I am not sure if there are various machines. My boyfriend and I got a pitcher of Mango Cart and the reason I am knocking down a few stars is 1. The beer glass the cashier was about to give us was not clean. 2. The bathroom was semi clean but out of paper towels. 3. The kitchen either kept burning something OR they were using the oven or stove that was burning something that had been there because several times during the night it would get super smokey and they would have to open the front doors to let the smoke out.. The parking lot isn't very busy so there are a good amount of spots to choose from. The pizza was good, the chicken was good & the mojos were fresh and bomb AF. If you are looking for a decent pizza place that doesn't seem to get busy on Saturday nights this might be the place for you. read more

I've been to other Shakey's in run down areas that are more quality than this. It's extremely depressing inside and the food is MASSIVELY overpriced. You could get seriously amazing pizza for the same price you pay here. Buffet is just a free place to catch some sickness, it's pretty disgusting. Kids reaching their hands in the buffet trays grabbing what they want, buffet area is just a 'fun' place to run around for children. Couldn't be any more obvious the management doesn't care a bit. I was told by the cashier that there IS no management! When it comes to business, you vote with your wallet. I vote: drive 2 minutes down the street to a real pizza place and have some respect for yourself. What a disgrace. Update: I waited 25 minutes, sitting at a table listening to kids cry and scream, all for a SINGLE pizza. Wondering why it was taking so long, I walked up and asked what was going on. I was told they 'made a mistake' and they never even STARTED it. I asked to talked to a manager, he said there was none. I asked to talk to who was in charge, he said "no one is really in charge around here." Jesus christ. I've never experienced so much incompetence first hand. Wow! This place is so clean. The staff was amazing! Hector, Laura and Miguel and were so attentive and very kind to my family of 4. Manager Hector was especially very professional and is one of the nicest managers I've met in such a very long time. Good people like him are hard to come by these days. We showed up an hour before closing and instead of giving bad vibes they welcomed us. The games were still open for the kids. Another very large party of 8 or more came in and again super kind. Horrible horrible horrible! If I could leave the starts blank I would. Omg the plates were dirty and hell super greasy and even after asking for a new one same issue. Tables were all dirty! We had to clean and wipe our own. The salad bar Omg the cucumbers were literally rotten!!!! Fuzz black marks all over them! And hardly any pizza it all looked super old and the quicken was under the lamp so long it was chewy! Never ever will we come back here everything was just filthy! I've been going to Shakey's for over four decades. I enjoyed every one until we sat down to eat here. First time at this location. We quickly noticed everyone of the televisions was on a Spanish channel. I understand Spanish, but I don't thing everyone of the guest did. We got one of the combinations that include pizza, 8 piece chicken and pizza. After our food was ready and we picked it up to bring it to our table, we noticed something odd about the chicken (at most restaurants 8 piece typically includes 2 beast, 2 thighs, 2 wings, 2 legs), we got 1 breast, 2 thighs, 4 legs and 1 wing! Bad! Food was okay (a bit dry though) but not like the good experiences we are accustomed to at Shakey's. When we asked for to-go containers to take some of the food home for the dogs. After opening the containers out crawled two small cockroaches! Disgusting! Surely they know about it. Upon leaving we looked at the health department sticker on the front window. There appears to be some sort of issue with the last inspection. Hopefully they can clean up what they are doing. What happened to Shakey's? Sure miss the good Shakey's Ye olde pizza parlor. read more

Came here purely for the nostalgia. Believe it or not, they still have their lunch buffet despite the current challenges. It's still a decent value and there's a nice variety of different items, including spaghetti, garlic bread, vegetables, roasted chicken, fried chicken, mojo potatoes, corn, assorted pizza, dessert, salad and toppings. The quality isn't the greatest, but you're paying for quantity and the childhood vibes. I'm pleased to see they still have arcade games! Glad there's still a Shakey's around for future generations, though there's definitely some room for modernization upgrades. read more

I had my bday bunch of lunch. There was no one at the register when we first arrived and there was a "cash only" sign. That makes me weary like they are hiding earnings. I know some people don't think it's wrong but it takes away from services that taxes go to. Anyway, the pizza was lousy. The fried chicken and mojo potatoes were the only things that I liked from the buffet. The pickled beets was fizzy in my mouth so I'm sure they were spoiled. Woooooow. First of all it was hot in there and smelled bad. Second when we asked the worker if he could switch the channel to the nba play off game he said they could not do that... I'm sorry but about 3 people asked and since when does shakey's not have a current game playing? Third their ice machine was not working we think because they made us scoop our ice from this bucket. The ice was all melted and they did mot provide a scoop for the ice... so we used a fork to scoop some water because all the ice was melted and they had no more. Fourth the stupid games were on and running and the worker was able to turn them on and off but couldn't turn the damn play off game on?! Food was good but this establishment sucks. Nothing spectacular at this local Shakey's. I got some mojos to go for the super bowl party. The mojos didn't have that magical tastes it used to have like when I was a kid. Wow...I'm really torn with this review. We usually come around 4:30 PM on a weekday and have the place to ourselves. It's clean, food comes out fast, and the mojos/chicken are perfectly fried. Today, we came around 6:00 PM and literally every single booth was filthy and filled with dirty plates. We were there an hour and no one came out to clean. People who arrived after us had to clear a table themselves just to have somewhere to sit. It was pretty gross. We decided to come here to get dinner. We got pizza ,wings and drinks. We poured the drinks and tasted weird so I asked the cashier if the fountain machine had been cleaned recently. He lied and said they're cleaned every day. I took off the nozzle and showed the guy there was a mildew smelling slime in the nozzle and he said they lost the key to clean it which doesn't make sense because you don't need a key to remove the nozzles and clean them well. Should have known it was bad when we walked in and it was a ghost town. We canceled our food order cause I can't imagine what food guidelines they are following if they can't even clean the most basic thing in the restaurant. Would never come back here. Stopped by Shakeys today since I saw the sign out front mentioning they had a buffet from 11am-2pm. For less than $14 dollars they have a wide variety of pizzas, fried & grilled chicken , salad bar and much more. Went in for lunch. There was no line when we arrived. The food looked good for sure. We went to the order area and asked for 2 lunch buffets. The gentleman there gave us plates and a fork. We also got our drink cups. the price was not bad for what was out to choose from. Just $7.99 plus a drink. We sat down at a table that was not really clean. Seemed like no one wiped it down for a while. Not sure why, there was not that many people inside. They had 2 TV's on with sports going!! Not bad. The floor was not the cleanest either. I think this place could use just a little cleaning. I went up and got a salad and some side things that were on the salad bar. after that I did get 1 fried chicken brest? , broccoli and corn, mashed potatoes and gravy. What a good meal. The pizza was sliced very thin. No worries, I took 2 slices. The Mojos were the same old thing. Very greasy fried chips. Wow could you over eat here. I tried to get the veggies. The food was surprisingly good. Everything was fresh. I only wish they had a few more items for the salad bar. The extra plates were at the order area. A little intimidating and if someone was there ordering you had to ask for a plate. I think they could do this a little bit better by having a place for plates away from the area where you order. The parking is good. the lot is big and seems like there is always room to park. there is a lot of other places in the same center but not real busy. Easy in and out. 4 stars for now. 5 Stars for employee Logan! This young man was absolutely kick @$! He was the ONLY employee fantastically running the entire front of house and with politeness and a smile! We observed him taking phone orders simultaneously while cleaning and bussing tables. He stayed calm when several people were pulling him in different directions ~ taking orders at register, checking on orders, delivering food to tables, changing the tv channel at the request of a customer, getting to go boxes and going to tables asking if he could do anything to help~ in addition to handling all take out orders! If this young man is working at least two jobs he should be reimbursed for two workers. I hope that this business owner/manager realizes what a valuable asset they have in Logan and compensate him both monetarily AND with recognition. Logan you are awesome! Very disappointed. First red flag should have been when I walked in and multiple employees were sitting at the tables on their phones. Ordered a small (9") classic Ultimate Meat, cost nearly $16. Was a bit concerned about the price but reassured that the small was listed as "8 slices". Apparently my idea of a slice is much different than theirs. Picture of a roughly 2" long slice attached for reference. Only redeeming factor was taste of the pizza itself, which is hard to mess up. This place has the worst service. We've been here when it's not busy at all and our order was never placed or perhaps it was given to another customer. On a separate occasion we placed an online order and upon arriving at the designated time for pickup, we were told it would be a few minutes. 20 minutes later, we approached the counter to ask about the status only to find out that our order was never fulfilled and left among the stack of receipts. The La Habra Shakey's is by far the best location. Spare yourself the frustration and avoid the Brea location. read more
