We placed our names on the waitlist and were promptly seated as soon as the doors opened. The meat was absolutely delicious, and I thoroughly enjoyed the self-serve side dishes and salad. By 6:00 pm, only half of the restaurant was filled with patrons, which was a pleasant surprise. We decided to order more meat, and it arrived promptly at our table. The price is good and I like that they have an option where you can do the kbbq and the shabu shabu. We came here Sunday afternoon and it was not very busy. We were seated quickly. The restaurant is fairly big. There is a buffet section near the front of the restaurant. All the Korean side dishes are at the buffet. They had a fairly decent selection. They also had some hot items like egg rolls which were pretty good. They had radish paper at the buffet but it was oddly thick and crunchy. Only time I had radish paper that actually tasted like biting into a raw red radish. I did not like that for the shabu shabu they give you a prepared selection of veggies/soup toppings. They had the thick noodles which were not very good. I wish that they could have these items in the buffet so that you could grab what you want instead of getting this prepared tray. I also wish they had different noodle options. I did the beef broth and shrimp broth. The broths tasted watered down and were not very savory. The only upside was that the meat cuts were tasty. The shabu-shabu pot was divided so we were able to get 2 soup bases which was great. We went with the house special shrimp and seafood and beef soup bases. For shabu-shabu we got the veggies cooking and then added beef, fish,and chicken. My girlfriend tended the shabu-shabu pot. I worked the Korean barbecue and started with ribeye, pork belly, and beef ribs. I turned and moved the meats around the cooking surface to cook them evenly and thoroughly. Serving items up as they were ready. Meanwhile my girlfriend was doing the same with the shabu-shabu pot. After 1 round of shabu-shabu and Korean barbecue my girlfriend and son were full. I ordered another order of pork belly for the barbecue and had the grill switched out for a clean one. Next time I think we'll go with one or the other for Korean barbecue or shabu-shabu. It's just too much to get AYCE of both. That being said the prices were reasonable at BWON so even though we didn't do multiple rounds, I feel like it was a good value nonetheless. This was one of the worst kbbq experiences I've ever had. I was looking up places to eat in the area, and BWON Shabu had high ratings. A group of friends and I got there around 7:15 pm and were told it would be a 15 minute wait. We then proceeded to wait almost 30 min to be seated, which was fine since it was Friday night. However, once the hostess sat my group (all 4 of us), she left without a word and no one came to take our order for another 20 minutes. We flagged down our hostess and another waiter, but they ignored us. This would've been okay if it was super busy, but it wasn't. We were starving and decided to just go up to the buffet and flag someone down there. Once we finally put in our order, the server turned on the grill and hotpot flame. We sat there for another 20 minutes waiting for the food to come out. I also thought it was weird to have an open flame on with no soup pot for that long. The meat portions are VERY generous. The quality was okay, a bit more on the fatty side for most meats. If you do get the shabu, I would recommend the spicy seafood broth. The lighting is super dim inside. We had to use our phone flashlights to see if our meat was cooked. The smoke also got really bad because the vent isn't very strong and we were ignored AGAIN when asking for a grill change. Once I arrived the parking lot is pretty big and it's in a lot with other stores located in the left in the corner. Once inside, they had A LOT of tables to seat over 100 people. We were seated towards the back and walked passed all the buffet food. They had fruits, rice, noodles and SUSHI! We then sat down and chose the kbbq and the shabu shabu menu. We ordered meat for both and then went to the buffet to load up. I tried all the sushi and it was okay... Wasn't the greatest but it's sushi.. we also cooked the meat we ordered for kbbq while our soup was heating up. We then cooked the soup with the veggies and meat. The kbbq meat was very good, flavorful and they had many options. The shabu shabu was okay, the broth wasn't phenomenal but you would need to cook the veggies and meat in it to flavor it. All in all I felt like I was overwhelmed with all the food options. I got full fairly quickly. If you're starving this will be the place for you.
