Visited BWON today and the food was amazing. I would absolutely recommend it. This would have easily been a 5-star experience if the service had gone more smoothly. Our original server never offered us drinks and left us with lukewarm water while every other table had ice water. He also forgot to bring the five ramen bowls that were included with the package we ordered. We reminded him three separate times, and after that he completely disappeared and never came back to our table. Thankfully, Fabian came to our rescue. He fixed our grill, brought us Pepsi, made sure we had everything we needed, and completely turned our experience around. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making things right. We constantly had to try to track down the server to order, they forgot things we ordered, brought the wrong drink, kept telling us things "were coming", after a VERY long wait. The restaurant is fairly big. There is a buffet section near the front of the restaurant. All the Korean side dishes are at the buffet. They had a fairly decent selection. They also had some hot items like egg rolls which were pretty good. They had radish paper at the buffet but it was oddly thick and crunchy. Only time I had radish paper that actually tasted like biting into a raw red radish. I did not like that for the shabu shabu they give you a prepared selection of veggies/soup toppings. They had the thick noodles which were not very good. I wish that they could have these items in the buffet so that you could grab what you want instead of getting this prepared tray. I also wish they had different noodle options. I did the beef broth and shrimp broth. The broths tasted watered down and were not very savory. The only upside was that the meat cuts were tasty. So glad we finally came back and gave BWON another visit. Over 4 years ago, it was still Covid times and dining out was still weird. Now, the buffet is open and sushi is fresh, the panchan is so much better, the bbq and shabu meat options are still great. The shabu broth options are still flavorful. Not sure if the happy hour deal is daily, but on a Friday from 5-6pm they give a 10% discount for HH! Staff is still super friendly. Service has also sped up as well. First of all, the atmosphere is very dark and feels more like a bar than a restaurant. The meat was extremely tough and chewy, almost like plastic or rubber, and was basically impossible to eat. We ordered brisket, but about 30% of it was pure fat, so we had to cut it with scissors while eating. We chose the all-you-can-eat option that included both Korean BBQ and shabu-shabu, but the shabu-shabu meat was just as tough and rubbery. We ended up ordering it only once and left most of it uneaten without getting a refill. This was honestly the first time I had ever eaten at an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant without getting a refill. However, the biggest problem was that the restaurant's air conditioning was not working. With the weather being this hot, it was unbearable to sit at a table with a hot grill in front of us and eat while sweating. And since the meat was so tough that we could barely eat it anyway, my family decided to ask for the check and leave. Even that turned into a frustrating experience. It took 25 minutes just to get the check. We asked the same employee more than four times, but eventually they brought us the check for the table next to us, which was a huge amount because it was for a birthday party. After explaining that they had given us the wrong check, we waited another 10 minutes before finally paying and leaving. I don't think we will ever come back. No matter how good the food might be, I honestly can't imagine anyone wanting to sit in front of a hot grill and eat while sweating in this kind of heat. When I complained about the air conditioning while paying, the employee actually looked like they were struggling to work without AC as well and told me to complain to the manager standing right next to them. But my wife said we should have just ordered the BBQ ones and not with the Hot Pot because my wife and I are the only ones who ended up eating the Hot Pot, my Son and his Friends concentrated more on Grilling BBQs instead of their Hot Pot soup. Meat quality and taste were just okay not so wow about it but as I said it's just okay. Meat Potion arrives at our table always in good sizes, barchan or other side dishes you get up and get in your own. I chose the B+ Menu, and was very disappointed with my experience at BWON shabu & bbq. I've been to many buffet and Korean bbq places, but the food quality here was not great. The buffet selection was disappointing--the fried rice was sticky and tasted like leftover, the meat selection was limited, and the soup was extremely salty. On the top of that, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm with no AC. The service also needs major improvement. Most of the staff were not attentive, and we had to wait for several times whenever we needed assistance. I do want to give credit to our server, Fabian, who was attentive and provided good service. Was planning on going to another restaurant with my girlfriend for AYCE shabu-shabu and Korean barbecue but time got away from us and I didn't want to drive that far for dinner. My girlfriend suggested BWON as a closer option. So we invited my son to join us and headed to the restaurant. We were able to join the waiting list through yelp and only waited a few minutes once we arrived. Parking lot was full but we lucked into a spot after a couple of laps. Once seated our server offered us drinks and explained the menu. We opted for the AYCE B+ menu which includes both shabu-shabu and Korean barbecue. We received our first round and started cooking. The shabu-shabu pot was divided so we were able to get 2 soup bases which was great. We went with the house special shrimp and seafood and beef soup bases. For shabu-shabu we got the veggies cooking and then added beef, fish,and chicken. My girlfriend tended the shabu-shabu pot. I worked the Korean barbecue and started with ribeye, pork belly, and beef ribs. I turned and moved the meats around the cooking surface to cook them evenly and thoroughly. Serving items up as they were ready. Meanwhile my girlfriend was doing the same with the shabu-shabu pot. After 1 round of shabu-shabu and Korean barbecue my girlfriend and son were full. I ordered another order of pork belly for the barbecue and had the grill switched out for a clean one. Next time I think we'll go with one or the other for Korean barbecue or shabu-shabu. It's just too much to get AYCE of both. That being said the prices were reasonable at BWON so even though we didn't do multiple rounds, I feel like it was a good value nonetheless. Haven't been here in a while and was greatly disappointed. Most of the meat were fatty without much flavor. Just wasn't worth the price. And the worst thing about it was the service. Guy hardly came to check. After the second round, when he did come back I told him we are good for now, thinking he check back later. 25-30 minutes go by without anyone checking on us. I wanted to order something else but by the time we had anyone speak to us, I was tired and just over it. Explained how no one came to check on us and just got a sorry and the check. Then notice they were charging for a beer that wasn't even ordered so had to wait for them to correct that.
