Called to place an order over the phone, they asked me to hold. Waited for over 15 minutes until I finally hung up and called the next closest Shakey's. They took my order immediately and told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. Spent over $60 on pizza, chicken and mojo's. Pizza was inedible, chicken was over cooked and mojos were way too crispy, like potato chips. I remember back in my day the mojos being the best thing about shakeys. The mojos were not crispy but tender with way more flavor. We threw everything out. Had to buy our kids dinner elsewhere. Still flabbergasted at how we were treated. Went in today at about 1:15pm with our 9 year old daughter and her three friends for the lunch buffet. No large tables to be had in the front area, so we tell the kids to sit in the back area table while we order. Mind you, it was open for seating. Waited about 10 minutes for someone to start taking the order of the two customers before us. As he starts, he asked who were those kids sitting at the table area towards the back. My husband says they are with us. He rudely says they need to get out because that area is closed. We tell him that is fine, but there are no other empty tables for a group of six. He shrugs his shoulders and tells us they are busy and full. I must admit, in my sarcastic tone I tell him he must be kidding. He says he's not and it's not his problem. There is a large party coming and the back area is reserved. I then ask if that means we can't eat and he answers yes. Nice. Very nice. We gather up the kids and I walk out while my husband stays behind. He asks the employee for his name, which he not only refused to give, but says he doesn't have to provide his name to him or anyone. My husband then asks for the manager and the employee writes the manager's name on a to-go menu. He then raises his voice at my husband and becomes confrontational and tells my husband that he should be able to see it is busy. My husband had to tell him that he was handling this like a gentleman without raising his voice and he would appreciate the same respect. The employee then offered to clean an area in the front, which could not seat six of us. When my husband brought that to his attention, he just shrugged his shoulders again.We left and went to Round Table because now the kids want pizza and they are starving. Shame on me for taking the kids to Shakey's expecting we would have the same service from back in the day when we were kids and would frequent the Glendale location. Nostalgia got the best of me. At first glance, the Bunch of Lunch Special at Shakey's Pizza seems like a steal. Cost - $7.99 to $9.99 (prices, days, and times vary by location) Unlimited Food - pizza, chicken, salad, pasta, mojo's, and side dishes I've been meaning to dine in after picking up pizza to go at this location as well as being attracted by the freeway billboard advertisements. Their pizza and chicken are not bad, just nothing spectacular. It reminds you of grub that you can purchase at any frozen food section in your local supermarket. Which is the main reason why I gave 2 stars. Otherwise, all I would give them is 1 star. Don't even bother with the Bunch of Lunch. After about 3 bites, I really wanted to eat more, but simply couldn't. Trying to think about something nice to say for the food, but I shouldn't. As much as I love taking pictures for Yelp, I couldn't muster any energy to do so. I guess the food was just making me lethargic and sick. The pizza tasted like cardboard, with minimal amount of cheese and ingredients. You could consider yourself lucky if you get a piece of a fresh pizza brought out from the kitchen, but even that to me didn't seem appealing. Good luck trying to find a piece of white meat from the chicken cause they all looked like dark parts to me. The pasta and side dishes (mac n' cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy), all reminded me of microwave food. The mojo's were dry and salty. The salad was vaguely OK, probably the one thing you could eat, but not in mass quantity. The freshness of the food is not there since it's left out there until it's all finished. If not, it just stays there with no mint reinforcements in sight. The dining area. DISMAL. Makes you not want to sit. The service? What service? There wasn't anyone that checked on us, which was fine by me cause I wasn't planning on leaving a tip. I carried my dirty dishes to a side cart, refilled my own drink. Maybe, it's because it's slow during lunch time, but not having a waitress there to take care of customers, kinda embodies what you're dealing with here. We even got charged for the drinks. Total bill came out to about $35 for three of us. UNREAL. Maybe, you're the type that eats what's convenient and you grew up with the taste of Shakey's as a kid. But for me, I just can't get myself to eat here again. I would despise myself knowing that i'm working hard at the gym and then putting this crap into my body. This is the jam! i mean seriously this is by far the best spot for lunch because of the Bunch-A-Lunch! Shakeys is getting more rare in Socal as there was a buyout a while back where most of these were turning into Big's Pizza and More. It brings a smile to my face when i see an actual Shakey's Pizza. This spot is awesome because its right by everything! there is a wells fargo across the way, a tanning salon, a nail salon, a veterinarian, a dental office, a skate shop and finally a liquar store all in the same plaza. Mad cougars prowling the area if you know what i mean. Anyway Bunch-A-Lunch is where its at, all you can eat Pizza, Fried Chicken, Mojos, Pasta, Mac n cheese, salad etc.... for $8.99. This location just was rennovated as well so its got new booths and walls and big screen tvs they even got New Castle on tap!! The arcade area is very lacking but its all good, little kids dont know a good game from a bad one. Whats funny is right by the bathroom they have (2) other arcade games which they keep separate from the kiddies area; not sure why. highly recommended for lunch as the food is piping hot waiting for you and the cost is super cheap. 1 star because it won't let me leave a negative zero. I went on Thursday 11/16/18 at 1130am to the buffet. I got terribly sick that night from their fried chicken. This was all I had eaten all day. I spent over 8 hours in the ER. I was vomiting & had the runs. It was the worst stomach pains I've ever felt in my life, not even the Morphine helped, not 1 bit. Now I have an infection in my Intestines & I'm on 2 different antibiotics & nausea medicine for the next week. I'm definitely reporting this location. Food was awesome but the place is so dirty. First walked in and seen a man just chatting with some people at a table. There were only 2 tables of people there out of 40, you'd think with such slow business they'd have time to clean off the tables. I kept moving around to try to find a decent table but there was food everywhere, ranch drippings and crumbs on EVERY table. It's so disgusting and the number he gave us was gross too. I would give it a zero if I could , I have been here for more than an hour waiting for my pizza and I still haven't gotten it . They accidentally gave my order to someone else and tried to give me my order with 3 pieces missing . I wanted to take a minute to give the kid at the cashier this evening praise.... He kept his kool and was getting the job done... He was the only cashier and he was trying to do it all... and the kitchen staff also had his back... We really should've checked yelp before we went there... A college club I'm involved decided to use this place for fundraising. We contacted them ahead, made an arrangement, we even advertised them on Facebook for weeks about it to our club members. The day of the event we all go there--- an employee said that she didn't hear anything about our fundraiser. They totally dropped the ball by not communicating AT ALL. So I didn't even get to eat the sad pizza one person describing on yelp. We had about 35 people-- if they are motivated in business they would've served us-- but employees wanted to go home. We decided to take our business to "THE HAT". Shakey's ruined our fundraiser but the food at "The Hat" was amazing!!! We've been coming here for a while for the cheap lunch buffet. The pizza is usually ok; the salad bar is weak. My friend's like their mojos and friend chicken but it's not my thing. We asked if it is possible to get a veggie pizza since my husband does not eat red meat and the manager Maribel stated they would not and cited the time. Went in today for Bunch-A-Lunch. It's been a few years and decided what the heck, I had the afternoon off. Why not. My visit was "eh" at best. Positives: Pizza was fresh and hot, with a good selection. I prefer their thin crust and it was always available, although limited in toppings ( pepperoni, sausage). Mojo potatoes were better than I remember. Middle: Rest of the food was okay, nothing to write home about. The salad bar has a basic selection. Negatives: The chicken was dark meat, legs and thighs, only. Personally I'm a fan of white meat, specifically the wings, and remember Shakey's fried chicken was awesome. So not having white meat as part of the choice was disappointing. This was true for both types of chicken. Also, the price has gone up a lot. With drink the cost is now over $12. It doesn't seem that long ago that they were advertising it for $8.99. drink included. Now the drinks are an extra charge. Overall, it was okay for one visit. I don't see me going back for a long time. There are better lunches out there for less. read more

Well... I haven't been to this Shakey's for a cool minute but decided to stop by since I'm doing a Shakey's bunch o lunch conquest and shit. Disappointing! The pan pizza here has been the most limp I have experienced at a Shakey's bunch o lunch thus far. The roasted chicken was a disappointment as well...99% skin/fat without flavor. I will say I did like this establishment for two things: First, The gentleman who runs this place and was also the cashier had the best personality I have come across from a restaurant worker. He was very cheery and was able to handle the monstrous line at a fast pace. Secondly, they offered a pan pizza during bunch o lunch with just plain veggies...awesome! I will admit I probably will come back here after hitting up other bunch o lunch locations one time because it is local to where my mom stays. read more

This is the worst Shakey's I've ever been to. I've been to other locations and enjoyed the all the food very much. Salad bar was weak, The pizza wasn't of good quality, no servers to clean up (came for a party), no parmesan cheese out, there are only 6 games in a small unventilated room with a sticky floor and the prizes are crap worthy. Excellent service here by the young man who's the cashier! He made sure my food was well taken care of and was out fast. It seemed as if he was working alone but taking care of everything as it came. Food was definitely delicious and it's hard to understand why they have so little stars. All in all I have to say well done Mr. Edwardo for taking care of everything and making sure we got everything and a great experience at this location. It's been easily over 20 years since I've stepped foot into a Shakeys. So you can imagine my surprise when my sister suggested dinner there with the kids one night. We walked into this location on a Sunday night and found the place was pretty empty. Booths, tvs, arcade games....just the right amount of things to entertain the kiddies without the craziness that Chuck E. Cheese has :) Pizza turned out to be "meh", chicken was well seasoned and crispy....but like the old days it's ALL about the MOJO potatoes! YUM! Throw some hot sauce on everything and wash it all down with a pint of beer....and you'll be a happy camper! Sure, it may be another 20 years until I stop by again but I'm optimistic that it will be just as tasty! read more

Wow!!! Haven't had Shakey's buffet in a while but let me tell you guys it was very delicious! I enjoyed the different variety of pizzas they kept bringing out during the lunch buffet. The morning shift sure are great at what they do and satisfied most of their customers. The cashier, Eduardo, definitely did great at explaining how the lunch works and had a positive attitude towards everyone in the restaurant along with his team. This place is awful. Let me detail my lunch buffet experience: Atmosphere is lacking - you walk in and it is dimly lit. You are immediately greeted on your left by a sparse looking 'arcade' that has a handful of ticket games. In front of you is a very unappealing looking buffet bar and a small cashier stand past the food (which I thought was sorta awkward). The one good thing was that there were two fairly large TV's mounted up displaying ESPN. Pizza - Sauce is bland. Cheese and other toppings appeared unfresh and cheap and were stale upon tasting. Compared to other pizza lunch buffets, there is a huge lack of speciality pizzas offered... I think the 'specials' provided were a combination pizza, a ham and pineapple, and something resembling sausage + jalapenos. Ugh. Mac n Cheese - Runny and flavorless. Boxes of Kraft are better. Garlic Cheese Bread - Sandpaper with butter is probably a good description. Salad Bar - Veggies looks SUUUPER dry and definitely out of a bag. Fresh veggies would be a good idea for improvement. Mojo potatoes - Not bad. Had a good crisp outside, potatoes weren't particularly mushy on the inside. Better when paired with ranch or hot sauce. Smore slices - These were good. Melted marshmallows + chocolate sauce on top of a soft crust. Definitely wait for them to put these out before you give up on the buffet. Fried chicken - This was also good. Juicy tender insides, with a nicely fried crispy outside. Surprising how good this was given how awful the pizza and other sides were. Lunch buffet is $8.99 and includes a soft drink. If you are coming here for fried chicken and smore slices alone, that might make it barely worth it. However, that is not a great lunch value for the typical pizza buffet... checkout Round Table's typically excellent pizza buffet option as an alternative. You're welcome =) read more
