In another review post many years ago, I mentioned Shake Shack making one of my favorite "fast food" chicken sandwiches. This is still true but even better eating it for take out on the couch. This location is really nice with easy parking at the whole foods in the beautiful 2nd and PCH open-air mall. The kiosks are easy to navigate for ordering and you can wander the shops while you wait for your order. Our most recent visit we decided to try the parmesan garlic fries with black truffle sauce. The sauce was the star with a really nice flavor and made a good dip for the sandwich as well. The downside were the fries - they didn't have any parmesan! And for the cost of the black truffle special fries I would have just ordered regular and gotten a sauce on the side. Oh well, I think the Black Truffle promotion ends soon but hope a similar sauce makes it onto the menu for good! read more

Next time we'll order just one fry as one order is enough for two. Hot and crispy fries can't be beat. The burgers were flavorful and MEATY. I wish I added lettuce and tomato to the ShackMeister, then I could have died and went to heaven. The Double ShackBurger was just as good ( so I was told). The shake was really good but again a little expensive. But top ingredients are expensive. You can't go wrong with lemonade, it will be super refreshing in a summer day!!! The finale... Staff!!! From the front counters un-rushed manner made ordering less stressful as some drive thru places. Finding a table is a challenge on a cold evening. First time customer at shake shack here. Pricey but definitely getting some quality ingredients here. I did find the meat too dense (possibly from over mashing the patty while cooking) but I do love the edges of the beef patty. The bacon was a little hard and needed a little more crispiness. The bread bun was great especially with the toasted edges. (It's all about the edges!). We also had the fries plane, with cheese and shake shack style I suppose. All good stuff but a bit on the salty side. Strawberry shake was good stuff. Not mind blowing but a quality shake. Burger, fries and a shake will set you back around $20. read more

They're "sit down" restaurant expensive and one doesn't fill me up. From a value perspective In-N-Out beats them by miles. I don't know what was up but I think this was the worst shake shack experience I've ever had, and I'm shake shacks biggest fan. The location itself is really nice but the people working seemed like they were on quaaludes and had no idea what was going on at 7pm on a Wednesday evening. The food came out cold, they had no beers on draft.. the side of cheese sauce for the fries was cold and hard. I don't know, it was just overall lacking everything. Burger was fine, but still not that shake shack quality. We even got the new milk bar shake and I did not like it at all and I LOVE milk bar. OK, let me preface this by saying I grew up in So Cal and am a part of it's varied and wonderful beachy kind of culture. That being said, I am truly a fan of Shake Shack, and would choose their food over that other iconic So Cal burger place. The burgers here are just short of heavenly and come as close to comfort food as I could find anywhere. In Long Beach the Shake Shack is found at the 2nd St. & PCH shopping area with plenty of parking available. I'm a pretty basic kinda gal, so I just got the cheeseburger, fries (asked for a little crunchy, and that's what I got), and a 50-50 (lemonade/tea). There are plenty of menu options to keep me coming back for more. Employees are super chill and the restaurant is clean and welcoming. I took my lunch to go, so didn't stick around to enjoy the ambiance. I ordered there, but noticed that there are options for pick up and curb service (Nice! I can keep my sloppy clothes on and go grab a bite!!). If you haven't tried Shake Shack, you have got to go!!! I mean now! Grab your keys and drive over there... you won't regret it! read more

I love that Shake Shack opened a location closer to Orange County in Long Beach. I have been here a few times since opened and the food is always great. My only complaint would be that they can definitely improve on the experience of picking up orders. I ordered twice via online order recently and it's always a hot mess. The orders were 20+ mins late than the pick up time. And there's no designated lines or clear instructions at the restaurant on how to pick up the food. read more

I've been to this spot a couple times and know what to expect from ShakeShack but this most recent visit missed the mark! Very busy crowd with a Friday dinner on St. Patrick's Day so kudos to the staff for doing their best, but the burgers were not up to their usual standard quality. It was my friend's first time having Shake Shack, and we both got the double Smoke shack burger. The patties were way too burnt/crispy, almost like the kitchen staff were experimenting with some smash patties?? Not the worst experiment but it was much drier and 'crispier' than what I've had in the past. Definitely chalking this up to a one-off incident but just look at the appearance of the burger on the tray. Should not have passed a quality check. Truffle parmesan fries were interesting! I would likely stick to the cheese fries next time. Tiramisu shake was awesome. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night to avoid the long lines during the weekends. Parking was easy and free for the first 90 minutes. Service was friendly and very helpful. The food was priced well and worth the visit. I do recommend sharing fries because you'd be surprised at how fast you can get full. Their burgers are delicious and I like how you are able to add certain items into it. They have an outdoor patio so if you're feeling like being outside for some fresh air to enjoy your meal they offer that as well. I will be returning. read more

Food here is pretty good! I would say a little on the pricey side but well worth it. My favorite burger/item is the Shake Stack- the burger with the cheese & mushroom! If you love mushrooms and burgers, you would love this! I have tried the Korean Chicken Sandwich- I liked it and would buy it again, however it was very small in size and at the cost of a regular burger. I can't wait to try the legit sandwich when I travel to Korea. My husband likes the double shack smoker burger- the very meaty burger with bacon. Its good to me, but too meaty for my liking. We have also tried the Chick'n Stack- when we tried it, it was very plain and the chicken was dry and everything was flavorless. I would not even bother giving it a second shot. The fries, any version, fries alone, cheese, or bacon and cheese is very good. Yes, it is pricey, but it does actually tastes like it is worth it. It has portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, ShackSauce. On Saturday, my bestie and I came here since she recently moved back to LBC we wanted burgers!! We both ordered the Shack burgers w/ fries and pink lemonade. It hit the spot tasted a little salty on the burgers but not too overwhelming. Meat was very juicy flavorful but again not to overwhelming. Location is in the Shoreline Wholes Foods plaza w ample of parking. Because of COVID, no dine in, only orders to go. Service was fast, easy and friendly. There are plenty of seating areas in the plaza you can eat at and people watch. The only downfall was they said they gave us ketchup but they did NOT. So make sure to check your orders. They were busy but still if you say you did make sure you did. We didn't check and my friend really loves ketchup on her fries was disappointed. Overall, I would come back since it's the closest to me vs going to the LA locations. I prefer Shake Shack over In-N-Out any day!!! Located at 2nd & PCH, the Mrs and I have visited Shake Shack 3 times in the last month. Though smaller than your average fast food burger and more expensive, we didn't hesitate when my daughter was craving it.
