Shake shack is a okay in my book. The dining room was clean and the service was great. My only complaint is that the burger seemed a bit small for the price. If I am going to be spending 5 plus dollars on a burger from a fast casual spot I expect it to be a little bigger. The cheese fries were delicious with the signature crinkle cut fries that shake shack has become known for. Finally, the cookies in cream tasted as if someone had crushed up Oreos and blended them. Two works "super delicious!" Just be prepared because it is very think so maybe a spoon is necessary. Overall, give shake shack a try if you are in the area and see what those on the east coast rave about! read more

Hey guys... I work across the street at the medical building and I also live less than a mile away. I have eat in, eat on the patio, had it delivered, picked it up and I am never really thrilled. Whats with your buns? I'd call them super Whimpey...they basically fall apart and moosh in my hand as I eat my burger or chicken sandwich. I read the previous reviews on this location. I was weary of my visit, I had many of the same issues a lot of people did. 1st off , so confusing getting into the restaurant parking lot. Also confusing the roped off line, to close to door, people didn't know where to go. Maybe its not always that way. The lady taking our order, not sure if she was just having a bad day, normally pissy or off in another dimension. Not good service from her. Once into the restaurant it was very nice, when it gets warm plenty more seating outside. The girl I picked up the food from was very sweet and knew how to smile and say thank you! The manager was friendly, asked how everything was and offered to take our tray. I had the cheeseburger, husband had bacon cheeseburger. We shared fries. Food was real good. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Shake Shack, so I was super excited to try out this brand-new location that's in a "pad" in the parking lot of the Southdale Mall. There's a lot to love about this SS location, and while they have not yet gotten their license to serve beer and wine (a manager assured me that it's coming soon), they embody all of the great things that I've come to know and love about Shake Shack. Here's some more detail: The food: A somewhat simple menu with burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, and lots of different drinks, all of which are really, really yummy. In fact, I would say that SS has the BEST burger of any chain quick/fast service restaurant in the nation...you can't beat the combination of meat quality and taste! They also rotate through different seasonal burgers/sandwiches (the one right now is Nashville-style "hot chicken"), which are usually pretty phenomenal. They are very allergy-friendly (just ask). The lines can get long, so be sure to order ahead and skip the wait! The restaurant itself: unlike the location in the MOA, and many other Shake Shack locations, this one is completely stand-alone. It's fairly large, and has a huge patio with heaters (the patio was o.k. temperature-wise when outside temps were in the 40's, but too cold when temps dropped into the 20's). There are also some cool games outside (such as foosball and ping-pong), as well as those trendy string lights that all the hip restaurants have now. The inside is fairly large too, with LOTS of tvs showing sports (+ one showing Disney movies). The bathrooms are really clean. The staff was very, very friendly and accommodating, even serving us with a smile when we walked in 2 minutes before closing one night (we got our food to-go, of course). Parking is ample. All in all, a solid add to the Edina food scene, and a Shake Shack location that has all of the amazing service, food, and ambiance weall have come to know and love about the chain! read more

What a cool location with awesome patio space. The space stands out from the road and looks even more appealing the closer you get. Tons of seating and TVs to watch while you chow down on burgers and fries. The tricky part is you have to enter the parking lot from the mall entrance which can be confusing. Since you order first and then sit down the line can get long and was actually out the door when we went. In the cold winter months or hot summer days this can put a damper on the experience while you're waiting. Once we ordered it was about 15-20 minutes until we got our food. It gave us time to find a table and get situated with our utensils and soda refills. I went with the classic single Shack burger. Although the patties are thin they have a ton of flavor and the shack sauce is delish. We also got the Cheese fries because why not. A bit of an indulgence but totally worth it. I so badly wanted to order ice cream but that would have really been over-doing it. I'll definitely have to come back this summer for a treat! read more

Before I begin, I am not somebody who often gives bad reviews on Yelp as I understand that it can hurt the business. This may actually be my first bad 1-star review. That being said, here's what I thought. Way way wayyyyy overpriced for what you get. The burgers are small and the bacon is super thin. Less than mediocre quality on both the burger and bacon. The fries are the cheapest crinkle cut fries you can get. Terrible quality. The cookies N cream shake was good but for a 12oz shake priced at $5.29 you can keep it! Very nice establishment and very clean. Extremely disappointed and unsatisfied. I will never visit another Shake Shack! P.S. - I don't think it's specifically this franchise, but more so the whole chain. read more

First visit to this location, and it was a solid medium! Husband and I both ordered the standard ShackBurgers, which were perfectly nice but not life changing. Although I do think I've stumbled upon something great - ordering one side of cheese fries and one side of regular fries. Is it probably too many fries? Yes! But you can use the regular fries to mop up all the extra cheese in the bottom of your cheese fries. Genius level tip right there. Low points of the visit were navigating the parking lot (coming from the east, it was super confusing to figure out how to actually enter that section of Southdale's parking lot!) and the vanilla shake. Maybe I just haven't had enough Shake Shack shakes to know what they're supposed to be like, and this was totally normal. But it had a really odd texture and didn't really taste like anything... Anyway, glad to have this nearby! I still prefer it over Smashburger, so it's a nice addition to the area. read more

I grew up on the East Coast, so I am used to going to Shake Shack out there. The new locations that have popped up locally are really nice and definitely are a good representation of what the food is like. But I do feel like it feels like a really shiny, glossy version. Anyway, the food is still very very good and totally craveable. So if you've never been, the menu isn't huge. But it is absolutely great. I usually get the double Shack burger - basically the Shake Shack version of a really good cheeseburger. The fries are crinkle cut, golden brown and can be ordered with liquid cheese and/or bacon. And then of course there are the shakes. Obviously their trademark offering and namesake, these are decadent shakes. They are actually not that large but I almost always have trouble finishing mine because it is so thick and luxurious. Also, they make black and white shakes, which are an old-school East Coast thing that you just don't find around here (till now). So I am always craving a black and white. You can also pay 50 cents extra to "make it malty," which I highly recommend. Another good option is a concrete, which is basically the Shake Shack version of Culvers concretes. I don't eat burgers often but I recently dropped into Shake Shack for a Shake Burger and fries. The Shake Burger is essentially a California Cheeseburger - a cut above a Quarter Pounder with cheese. The fries are crinkle style are fine but nothing out of the ordinary. They have a bit more variety that McD's on the menu and this location sells beer. Two features I liked was that they had free fizzy water and they listed the calorie count for each item. My order of a Shake Burger and fries was about 1100 Calories which is about half the daily intake I aim for so I decided not to order a shake although they looked good. You probably won't be disappointed by Shake Shack but you won't be overwhelmed either. But if you want a quick burger you will probably be happy. read more

They have a very strong burger. Honestly I think freddy's does better. The price point on the shake is high. Don't get me wrong. It is a good burger but three doubles and two fries ran 30+ bones. I thought I was going for a dip and dive but really it is a sit and squawk. I guess they sell booze but. I wasn't feeling it. The place is strong. Just 40% over market. Also they didn't include any of the fixings. But that is a back of house problem and I don't like including that in ratings. Mistakes happen. Pull the price point down and you may pull more business. We tried this location today and found the restaurant itself clean spacious and comfortable but at $28 for two sandwiches and two drinks will probably never return. Our burger and chicken sandwich were very good but we counted over17 staff members working mostly young people standing around talking to each other and in the way of the beverage and pickup area. For self service it's wayyy overpriced and no drive thru. Our order taker couldn't understand our simple name and still managed to spell it wrong. read more

Mistakenly threw my receipt out where I could take survey. Went with a friend. I wanted a vegetarian option so I thought I would try the shroom burger. My friend ordered it too but she thought it was a burger with mushrooms on top. I had some thought that I would be getting a fried portobello mushroom with melted cheese on top. It was a breaded deep fried something with nasty cheese oozing out of it. I was told it was gluten free and I ordered it with a gluten free bun. The woman that took my order was wonderful! The manager got my friend a new burger with the icky mushroom thing on top to make her happy. He apologized to me that I and we had misunderstood what we were ordering. I would hv been happier with a BEYOND BURGER. French fries were good. Staff amazing but I will eat elsewhere as I move into a PLANT BASED LIFESTYLE. read more

Let me start off by saying that I was taught to respect everyone in life and work including and especially the people who take out the trash and the janitors. Let me also say that I like the crinkle cut fries and the burgers are good, which is why I keep going back. I've been to several Shake Shack's from New York Times Square, Midtown, to Dallas, MOA and the Edina location. The service I received this afternoon left a lot to be desired from the time I ordered to when I received my food. I ordered a hamburger, which is on the menu but when I asked for it, the person behind the counter looked at me like I was an alien and then said "you want the ShackBurger"? I said, no, just the hamburger, which is on your menu, and I want lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles, which the menu says you have to request. She entered "extra" of all of those items, or so I thought ... plus I said "it's to go" and she repeated that. As I waited for my food, I noticed there were more workers in the kitchen standing around than there are extra TSA people at MSP at 2 pm. Pretty surprising for the slow service. Granted, it's the last weekend before Christmas and the malls are packed so I'm sure they decided to beef up (pun intended) on extra workers and I was there around 2:30 in the afternoon which was probably a lull. Needless to say, it took a little longer than I expected to get my food for how few people had ordered ahead of me and for how many people were in the back preparing the food (or standing around). Finally, my buzzer went off and I noticed my food was on a tray - no big deal (seriously), I just kindly told them it was "to go" and the nice lady put everything in a bag for me to take out. Once I got outside and took my food out, I noticed my burger had tons of onions (the extra), plenty of tomatoes, but no lettuce. I was a little disappointed but very hungry so I decided to just head home and eat. Moral of the story, good help is hard to find sometime and if Shake Shack keeps providing this level of service and over-staffing, it will be no more than a glorified Mickey D's (not a knock on McDonalds). Again, I like the food, it's a good burger for "semi-fast food" and I would say the quality is better than other fast food restaurants. Maybe next time I'll try some local places. read more

Food was tasty. The burger had deliciously crispy edges with a soft, buttery bun. The shake shack sauce on the burger is a must. The crinkle fries are perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The shakes are fantastic (as they should be with a name like shake shack)! They are creamy, sweet and cold-everything a shake should be. I also tried a hot dog on this visit to mix it up at little (crazy, right?!) and it was average-nothing noteworthy about it. My other issue with this restaurant is that there's no kids menu. It's in a suburb and they serve burgers. Seems like a miss, but otherwise the food is good and the atmosphere is clean, modern and comfortable. The service was great. All the employees were very friendly. I have been in a committed relationship with In-N-Out for quite some time but... Shake Shack just gets me, man... New favorite burger. I frequent the MOA location and was thrilled that one opened so close to my office in Edina! I've been here twice and the place is great. The layout is cool - I imagine in the spring/summer months the patio will be a nice spot to eat or play games with friends (I spotted a foosball table). Inside modern, lots of TVs, and very clean. The staff is friendly but I think they're a bit overworked with the hype bringing in such large crowds... this is why I took off 1 star, both of the times we came here our orders were wrong. The first time we ordered 2 burgers and a chicken sandwich but we got 1 burger and 2 chicken sandwiches. Second time we asked for no lettuce and tomato, + raw onion, but we got no onion and they had lettuce and tomato on there still... Still great though, patties are cooked medium and the potato buns really make the burger - check it out! read more

It's at a convenient location right off France in Edina where many other food places are. I'd consider this to be in the same block as the mall, but in its own building away from the parking lot. When you enter, it takes you to a big menu on the wall and two cashiers at the front ready to take your order. The kitchen is right behind them. I ordered a Double shak burger with a side of fries and large drink. Everything is ala carte which I didn't know so my meal came to about $15. The burger: fn delicious! I mean, I could do without the shack sauce since the meat are already salty, but nevertheless, it was amazing! Hence, I give it a 4/5. The fries: I can't finish the fries. They were light and slightly crispy. I prefer crispy and not so light. However, this was a large portion where I couldn't finish in one sitting. Drink: they have Coke Zero and sprite! There are other options but this is the go to! If you get a burger, you MUST get a drink. I'm just saying! It'll wash down amazingly! All in all, lunch was filling and delicious! read more

So impressed by everything about this place - the atmosphere, the architecture, the business model (incorporating local features) all really cool touches. Private parking lot for the win. It was so easy to get a spot even on opening day so I'm really happy with this. There are three order lines so you won't have to wait too long in the line. The food took a little longer but it was opening day so I can understand why. I got the double shack burger and the pie oh my! The pie oh my included pumpkin pie from the ever-amazing Cafe Latte. Have never been to a shake shack before and was quite excited to try it. My experience was quickly brought down after trying to order my food inside. The person behind the counter with the many piercing and neck tattoos could have cared less to be there. She was very hard to understand as she spoke very quietly, didn't use eye contact, and was too busy counting cups for no reason. I go to Shake Shack for the burgers and Shakes but my goodness those shakes are good the sea salt caramel is the one to get. Love that this Shake Shack location opened up in its own building outside the Southdale mall with a huge patio! Got the double smoke shack, hot chicken (new), fries, and pumpkin strudel (from cafe latte!) concrete. They were all fantastic even if I'm not a crinkle cut fries fan. The burger was exactly how you would dream a bacon and pepper covered double cheeseburger would taste. The hot chicken had actually decent heat, perfect sweet pickles and slaw, and tenderness on par with Chick fil A. Both buttered potato buns were pillowy soft. Fries were very crispy and crinkly. The frozen custard was so very rich and creamy, and I really love how Shake Shack teamed up with local Cafe Latte to create a special and seasonal Pie Oh My concrete just for MN locations.
