Ordered the Shrimp taco which had a good amount of food on it. Just wish the tortilla was bigger to catch all it upon folding. Been here a few times and as much as I like this place I can only think there are so many places, just better than this place! I don't know if I really have anything about this place...other than I don't like the fact all their sides are extra, they come in those tiny little plastic containers (for god sake, stop using so much plastic) and are expensive for what you get! The food is good, not great. the service is much the same and the place is always busy and a little dirty! Again, not saying it's bad but there are at least three other places I can think of within 10 minutes of that are just better! As soon as I landed in Minnesota, I was taken to this spot.  It was an impromptu stop so I didn't have any expectations but there I was ready to lock in for another meal! The restaurant was big, it had plenty of seats inside.  You have the option of ordering from a kiosk or the cashier which makes me think it gets busy there. I loved the decor, the entire place was decked out with wall art and different pictures of a wrestler. I honestly had zero interaction with anyone, we ordered food from the kiosk and they called my name when it was ready.  I love when technology is implemented for fast and easy service, but it does suck when you don't have any human interaction. No knock on the restaurant though. The food was really good, and had an authentic Mexican taste.  I had the Cubana sandwich which was HUGE and extremely filling, I couldn't finish the whole thing because I was having dinner later but it was just as good the next day. read more

I was very disappointed. The huarache nearly had any meat. This place used to be so good with great portions. The huarache itself was made and warm up so it was not fresh like they used to be. Very rarely do I think of places as "must eat" or "must try", but Taco Libre kind of fits that mold. I came here with one thing in mind - The Machete. It is definitely a bit of a unique option and it looked good on the menu. I was NOT prepared. The thing is massive... And it pained me to not finish it! It was very good. I like the fact that you can get two different meats if you want to try multiple or split it with someone (which I should have thought of). The grilled onion mushroom combo was bomb - and I had the chicken tinga on the other half was also fantastic. I definitely thought they were going to mix the meats together - so FYI they are separated into two distinct halves. The place was packed when I walked in, but the service was fast. Note that you can only order via the kiosks and not at the counter - some people seemed to struggle and take forever choosing... I guess not everyone reviews the menu beforehand like me, ha! The salsa bar was a slick touch. They have several options. My favorite was the creamy light green salsa. It packed a punch of heat and tasted great. I ended up dipping my sandwich in it about 1/3 of the way through (I only made it about 2/3 to 3/4 anyway). Now if only I could take a post-lunch nap... Almost too full at this point! read more

I have fallen in love with the birria tacos here! They are so delicious! I ordered the alambre via door dash and was left disappointed, but I believe that is because the delivery service isn't always totally reliable. I have been to this location a few times and all the times I have left with a full belly. They are continually busy which is a testament to the quality they have with their food. I first tried the Birria tacos at a food truck festival and was blown away. I decided to visit the restaurant a couple of weeks later and it was okay. Overall, the restaurant was clean and had great artwork. It did seem spacious and parking was pretty easy. The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful. As for the food, the Birria tacos were alright but the meat seemed to be lacking flavor. We also ordered the nachos which were a little too dry for my liking. I wish there would have been some type dressing or cheese on top as there was a huge pile of chips. The machete seemed like a unique idea however it felt soggy as the wrap didn't seem crispy or warm. Nothing that I had was bad by any means, but relatively speaking there was a lack of content (specifically meat) and the flavors were about par for what you'd expect. What did stand out and was above average was the queso dip - would make this a must if you're going to visit! Met a friend here for lunch. Loved it. I ordered one street carnitas taco. So good. Loaded with meat, cilantro, and onions. I also got chips and guacamole. Way too much for one person to eat for lunch but leftover chips are never left over for long. Not a ton of eating space inside but we found a nice booth. I came here for dinner. It's very easy to order food using their screens. My food came out quickly. I ordered a veggie bowl. The veggies included potatoes and mushrooms. The mushrooms were good but the potatoes tasted pretty raw and didn't have much flavor. The rice was the best part of the bowl. I'll add that the salsa was pretty medium spicy which was a nice touch but fair warning! The pinto beans could've used some more flavor. My wife and I were out for our Saturday new restaurant for lunch experience. She mentioned Taco Libre and it sounded good for a quick lunch. We entered the strip mall adjunct and I ordered the barbocoa, tongue and beef cheek tacos. My wife got the side of black beans and because they had no beer (Minus one star), we got a Diet Coke to share. They have a really nice salsa bar. The red - Pretty hot! Lot pretty spicy hot. They had a creamy green one, which I am guessing is avocado based, but it was pretty mild, and then they had a green verde sauce, which was medium. The tacos came out in about 5 minutes and they were all really good, but not too flavorful. Sure the meat was all there and the accouterments, but the actual meat was pretty bland. The sauces added some heat. It wasn't bad at all, it is just that I have been at a few taco places in the last month or so, and the flavors just oozed through. Wow! Super glad I found this place. We loved everything - each taco I had, I didn't want it to end! I had steak, chicken and pork and all were delicious. I especially loved the pineapple with the chicken. The steak was super tender and the pork was flavorful and spicy! Yum! My fiancé had the steak burrito and loved it as well! His burrito even came with a side of guacamole. My only complaint are the foam trays and plastic silverware. Also included a "special treat" of applesauce, my little bro loved it! *Mexican Street Corn- I have had better. Good flavor combo but not enough mayo in my opinion. Hola my fellow taco lovers! Taco Libre has been our go to place for tacos lately. We used to go to Rusty Taco but they've gone down hill. The comida is very consistent, their carnitas and their steak is muy bueno as well. What I like about their tacos is they serve them with tortillas that are slightly fried, I hate places that just give you raw corn tortillas. One of my favorite items to get is the "Machete". It's a long taco literally the length of a machete and unless you are pretty hungry it would be a good idea to split it with someone. One thing I'm a little disappointed with is their horchata, it's just too milky tasting, not enough cinnamon or something, if I wanted leche I would order leche! Anyways hasta luego! read more

Given it's location and large free parking space, Taco Libre is expectedly packed during the week day lunch hours. Incredibly enough I've managed to snag a seat in almost every visit. From my experience, I'd highly recommend ordering through their website ahead of schedule as you could be waiting up to 30-40 minutes for a single taco. The employees have been good to me and easy to talk to. Show up at non-rush hours and your order will show up at the pick up counter (to the right of the cashier) in an instant. As the name suggests, this is a solid choice for tacos based on my multiple visits. I do think street tacos are more flavorful than the "American" taco. A friend tried their fish tacos and came away impressed. All three "torta" orders so far have been rather plain with the Milanesa as slightly better than Subway and we'll leave it at that. Note that the taco prices you see on their menu are for a single taco. So it's a bit on the pricier side but if you're a quality over quantity kind of person, Taco Libre is worth the visit. read more

This place is amazing! I've eaten here twice (so far) and have yet to be disappointed. The first time, I ordered three street tacos - BBQ, carnitas and steak. The carnitas is excellent! Each taco had a slightly different flavor. They come with a lot of cilantro. So, if you're not a fan, make sure you tell them. The second time, I had the hueracha. It's a long corn tortilla with a refried bean spread topped with your choice of meat, cilantro, peppers, onions and sauce. Wow! It was terrific. If you go during lunch, it's likely to be packed. I'm between 3 and 4 stars on this one. The tacos here are great -- some of the better fast casual tacos you'll find in the twin cities region. But the dining room is a bit small and depressing.
