    $2 side!!

Been here a few times and as much as I like this place I can only think there are so many places, just better than this place! I don't know if I really have anything about this place...other than I don't like the fact all their sides are extra, they come in those tiny little plastic containers (for god sake, stop using so much plastic) and are expensive for what you get! The food is good, not great. the service is much the same and the place is always busy and a little dirty! Again, not saying it's bad but there are at least three other places I can think of within 10 minutes of that are just better! Will be back when I am in the area and in need of quick, a little pricy, just ok food! KT

02 Machete Costeo - A Mexican dish presented on a black tray with a red border, including a taco topped with lettuce, tomato, and cheese, accompanied by three small containers of sauces, a whole roasted jalapeño, and a large soda in a plastic cup with a lid and straw. The tray is placed on a wooden table in a casual dining setting.

This was a very unassuming place to eat. The reviews did not give it justice. I ordered the Machete Costeo and it was one of the best tacos I ever ate. I would have given it 5 stars, but they wouldn't give me more of the avocado sauce. No reason, just said they can't. I offered to pay for it but no dice. So sad.

As soon as I landed in Minnesota, I was taken to this spot.  It was an impromptu stop so I didn't have any expectations but there I was ready to lock in for another meal! The restaurant was big, it had plenty of seats inside.  You have the option of ordering from a kiosk or the cashier which makes me think it gets busy there. I loved the decor, the entire place was decked out with wall art and different pictures of a wrestler. I honestly had zero interaction with anyone, we ordered food from the kiosk and they called my name when it was ready.  I love when technology is implemented for fast and easy service, but it does suck when you don't have any human interaction. No knock on the restaurant though. The food was really good, and had an authentic Mexican taste.  I had the Cubana sandwich which was HUGE and extremely filling, I couldn't finish the whole thing because I was having dinner later but it was just as good the next day.

    The Machete!

Very rarely do I think of places as "must eat" or "must try", but Taco Libre kind of fits that mold. I came here with one thing in mind - The Machete. It is definitely a bit of a unique option and it looked good on the menu. I was NOT prepared. The thing is massive... And it pained me to not finish it! It was very good. I like the fact that you can get two different meats if you want to try multiple or split it with someone (which I should have thought of). The grilled onion mushroom combo was bomb - and I had the chicken tinga on the other half was also fantastic. I definitely thought they were going to mix the meats together - so FYI they are separated into two distinct halves. The place was packed when I walked in, but the service was fast. Note that you can only order via the kiosks and not at the counter - some people seemed to struggle and take forever choosing... I guess not everyone reviews the menu beforehand like me, ha! The salsa bar was a slick touch. They have several options. My favorite was the creamy light green salsa. It packed a punch of heat and tasted great. I ended up dipping my sandwich in it about 1/3 of the way through (I only made it about 2/3 to 3/4 anyway). Now if only I could take a post-lunch nap... Almost too full at this point!

The machete the size of the food tray and had to get a street taco as a chaser if you know what I mean. - A large taco with shredded lettuce and a smaller taco topped with cilantro, cheese, and a lime wedge are placed on a red plastic tray. The tray has a paper liner with printed graphics. A dark beverage is partially visible in the top left corner of the image. The setting appears to be a casual dining environment.

I'm up here from Houston, Texas on a business trip. This place is the bomb. The machete was out of this world. The flavor here is very close to what I get from Houston. The service was quick so you don't wait long for tour food. This place has done well and hope it continues so I can stop by again on my next trip up here.

Yum! The food here was delicious! Did we come to Minnesota expecting scrumptious Mexican food?! Nope, but we're glad we found it. The place is very casual and the menu is huge. The prices aren't too bad. The staff was efficient. The place was really busy. I had the quesabirria tacos and they were delicious! My mom and daughter had the carne asada tacos and they liked them. The Hubby had the GF bowl and it was good. We would definitely recommend this place. The horchata was also tasty.

Tacos Quesabirria - Three tacos filled with shredded beef and cheese, topped with crispy fried tortillas, are arranged on a white tray. The tacos are garnished with lime wedges, and a small cup of soda is placed behind them. The background includes a yellow drink and a wooden table, indicating a casual dining setting at a Mexican restaurant.

I first tried the Birria tacos at a food truck festival and was blown away. I decided to visit the restaurant a couple of weeks later and it was okay. Overall, the restaurant was clean and had great artwork. It did seem spacious and parking was pretty easy. The staff was also incredibly friendly and helpful. As for the food, the Birria tacos were alright but the meat seemed to be lacking flavor. We also ordered the nachos which were a little too dry for my liking. I wish there would have been some type dressing or cheese on top as there was a huge pile of chips. The machete seemed like a unique idea however it felt soggy as the wrap didn't seem crispy or warm. I will say, they did have a great variety of hot sauce which I definitely appreciated.

Good, but not great street tacos. Nothing that I had was bad by any means, but relatively speaking there was a lack of content (specifically meat) and the flavors were about par for what you'd expect. What did stand out and was above average was the queso dip - would make this a must if you're going to visit! I would like to come back to try the machete personally, although more so because of its unique largesse than maybe anything else... TL;DR tacos are good enough but won't wow!

The image shows a taco with a corn tortilla base topped with shredded meat, chopped cilantro, and diced onions. Two lime wedges and grilled pineapple slices are placed on top, garnishing the dish. The taco is served on a white plate with a piece of parchment paper underneath, placed on a wooden surface. The presentation highlights traditional Mexican ingredients and flavors.

Met a friend here for lunch. Loved it. I ordered one street carnitas taco. So good. Loaded with meat, cilantro, and onions. I also got chips and guacamole. Way too much for one person to eat for lunch but leftover chips are never left over for long. Not a ton of eating space inside but we found a nice booth. Expect longer lines over the lunch hour, both for ordering and picking up orders. The wait is worth it.
