Why write a review of a chain restaurant? Well perhaps to dispel some misconceptions I had of Panda Express at least for this location. Recently I dropped my iPhone off at the Southdale Apple Store for a battery replacement (if you are interested in my experience read my Yelp review). I had some me time to kill and it was noon so I went up to the nearby food court. I am always a sucker for American-Chinese food so I decided on Panda Express. The food was hot and fresh and tasted good. I know it isn't "authentic" but what is? I am not even sure about myself. Service was polite and quick and in these days in which you are almost required to tip, I offered but it was politely declined. In this case, two stars should not be construed as a serious indictment. It simply means that the food and overall experience rate as acceptable mall cuisine. I had an hour to kill while waiting for the Apple store to replace my iPhone battery. I strolled through the not yet fully populated "Dining Pavilion." I had a burger the previous night so ruled out Smashburger (and Great Steak). Wasn't in the mood for Tex/Mex so nix'd Qdoba. That left Healthy Express and Panda. I chose Panda. I ordered the 3 entree plate, opting for Kung Pao Chicken, Beef Broccoli & Orange Chicken w/ Fried Rice as the side. The Kung Pao had minimal chicken, mushy peppers and zucchini, no nuts and no heat. The Beef Broccoli was under seasoned but at least the broccoli was not wilted and overcooked. The Orange Chicken was too heavily breaded and bland. The rice was OK. I left filled but uninspired. Two days in a row now I have placed an order through their app, order went through, gave me an order number, took the money out of my account, and when I went in... no food. I show them my order. Give them my order number. Sorry, you need a receipt that shows the store number. Well they don't give you that. They give you an order number. I showed them the order. Showed them my bank account where the charge went through. I'm shit out of luck. Tried it again the next day. Same Goddamn thing. Coming here was a really good choice. Not only did I satisfy my orange chicken craving, but I didn't have to wait long either. I liked how I was able to choose which entrees I wanted. Of course my meal not only filled me up, but the cream cheese rangoon added a good dessert, as well. This place is always a good choice. read more

When placing a catering order I expect it to be ready. They didn't even have it started when I arrived at 11:25 (for an 11:30 pick up) Get it together... Nobody in line and had to wait ten minute while the girl behind the counter made a to go order. Never said anything to me, that it would be a minute, or acknowledged i was waiting. Eventually there was a line of about ten teenagers behind me. And she finally took my order then the pick up customer came and they made me wait to check out while they gave them their food and sauces they requested. Don't ever apply for PandaExpress their hiring process is absolutely ridiculous and their interview process is terrible too! It is not my fault that you are 45-50 minutes late to your own interview and then get there and ask me questions that have already been asked? And you get butt hurt when I tell you that I have already been asked those questions repeatedly and I shouldn't have to be in an interview for over an hour and half. That's just poor management right there. I'm glad I wasn't considered there because to be honest I would not want to work for a company that has poor management and poor hiring procedures. Who does a phone interview, in person interview, a second in person interview and then a 6 hour paid shift to see if you're fit for the job? Before officially offering you a position. Waiting to have my glasses readjusted by LensCrafters...so I'm at the food court at Southdale. Not too many choices here so I opted for Panda Express. I like the girl offering samples who shouts out 'Yummy Yummy!' Well..i think their food is kinda expensive and the quality is medeocre. Doesn't surprise me they dont have very good reviews. I recently visited Panda Express in the Southdale Mall and appreciated the excellent service I received from Feng and Jeffery. I stopped their for brunch and enjoyed the food which was very fresh and tasty. Not to be outdone, the service was excellent as well and served with smiles. I definitely won't. be back. staff doesn't. pay attention n obviously from low staff to manager they show a a severe la k of concern for their patron's safety. I asked that my meal be put in container not once but twice......it was put on tray.......while I attempted carry my meal with drink to tbe closest table my drink went directly to tbe floor and sat there as a slipping hazard to anyone using this main walkway in the restraunt. NOTE: reason I asked for container in first place is that I have a prosthetic leg and require a crutch to assist me in walking.......that leaves me one hand to carry items.....and trays are very difficult to balance. no one offered weather I wanted another drink or to replace money spent on my beverage.........no clear way from the hess of water n ice still on the floor from where I'm. sitting..... praying.
