My wife and I both received the standard menu and the waitress after seeing the look of concern on my wife's face as she perused the menu provided her with the American version of their menu. I ordered the schezuan stir fried pork from the standard menu and my wife ordered the kung pao chicken from the American menu. Our meals came and my wife ate more of mine because she said it tasted better. The food was fantastic but if you come here eat off the standard Chinese menu and not the Americanized menu.!!! read more

I ordered Postmates from this place and I must say it was delicious !! -Biangbiang Noodles: AMAZING the texture of the noodles is great and the pork was a great touch -Spicy and Sour Lamb Dumplings: the sauce and cilantro makes the flavor so good I would definitely order these again ! -Shaanxi Noodle Nuggets Braised in Rich Vegetable Soup: the brother was phenomenal, the texture of the shell noodles was very pleasant, the broth was rich and flavorful -Chicken Fried Rice: Even the chicken fried rice didn't taste like one I've had anywhere else it was so flavorful I would order everything again and definitely hope to make it out there one day as I read other reviews stating they have live music.. This may have become my new favorite Chinese restaurant as it's unlike anything I've found in the Phoenix Area. Ordered take out BBQ lamb skewers and biangbiang noodles as those were the dishes featured on the show and they really looked good. I wonder where the food actually came from as what we got did not resemble the food on the show. Lamb was tough, dried out and full of gristle. Fantastic new edition to the authentic Chinese food scene in AZ. The entire menu is "unique", I found myself surprised at the options that I've actually never seen before. The dish I had I had never seen in LA or here. It was dipping noodles with a light water broth, with veggies. You dipped the hand made noodles into a mildly spicy chili sauce. BOMB AF. The best part was the Vegan friendly options. My dish needed no alterations to be vegan. The waitress offered me options to make other dishes vegan. Loved the cold bean jelly noodles in chili sauce. Prepandemic, I would visit once every other week. Specifically, for their Shaanxi Delighted Lamb Soup (because of its similarity in taste to my own culture's Diné lamb dumpling soup). Shaanxi's dish isn't served with very much rice noodles so I always add an extra side of Biang Biang Noodles. This gives it that homemade dumpling texture that I crave. Previously, the soup's broth was always richly flavored as a lamb broth and nothing else which was the reason I absolutely loved and craved this every week. Well, that was until these last couple times I had visited. Now, the densely-flavored lamb taste is no longer present. It's now a mushroom-based broth with a light lamb flavor. I believe it's wood-eared mushrooms that I saw. Yeah, so I don't mind mushrooms as a side snack or topping on dishes but would rather not taste it with every bite of my soup. Especially, when I'm paying $23+ for this lamb dish here. Not sure if they just hired a new cook or something but I'd like to think these last 2 orders were just a fluke. I've been trying all the other new restaurants in the area so I haven't been back to Shaanxi in a while but will update this when I do. Oh! Also, on one occasion, I ordered a Shaanxi Style Burger-Cumin Lamb on the side as to-go. It was marked as spicy so I asked if they could adjust to non-spicy. Unfortunately, they couldn't. Took one bite and completely regretted it. The tears that followed! I'm a weakass when it comes to spicy food so, yeah. Sad to say, I had to trash it when I got home. I'm sure spicy-eaters would've loved it, though. As for the atmosphere, they have live instrumentals in the evenings which was a treat. The place is also newer so it's one of the cleaner restaurants. Went there especially for "liangpi" since they advertised authentic Shaanxi cuisine. Was told it's not available until "2 hours later". What? Who is going to wait for a dine-in order for 2 hours? Tried lamb bbq, too salty. The noodle and cold dish tasted ok. But, an hour later both of my friend and I started to have abdominal cramping and diarrhea. Worst customer service. I have never felt so unwanted in a restaurant. My mother and i went to have lunch together there yesterday and it took them 30 minutes to take our order. We received our soups and they were cold, our drinks weren't served until after our meals. It took 20 minutes after our soup for our entrees. Mine was missing the spring roll, which they never brought. The food was cold once again. They only gave us one set of silverware and never brought another. We had to ask for the check multiple times and we finally decided to stand near the register until they gave it to us. We were ignored and honestly discriminated against the entire time we were there. Will never return. On top of all of this i felt sick last night and now ive been throwing up all morning. I'm so glad our family decided to stop here for a nice sit-down dinner before flying back to California because Shaanxi Garden was delightful! The food was so authentic and packed with flavor, the service was spectacular. Our waitress was knowledgable and quick to offer advice on dishes she thought we might like to try. We came to celebrate my mother's birthday and since we were on vacation, we weren't familiar with many restaurants in the vicinity. Luckily, Yelp had our back. My parents are fans of authentic Chinese food and they absolutely loved the food here as well. The spicy flavors of each dish were definitely representative of the cuisine over in ShanXi. Our waitress also passed along the message that we were celebrating a birthday and the restaurant sent over a HUGE bowl of "long life noodles" on the house. Needless to say, we had tons of leftovers and lots of food to eat at the airport later. If you're in Phoenix and you want authentic delicious Chinese food, definitely stop here! We came in tonight at 6pm. They told us there will be a 15-min wait until the waitress can take our order. We were fine with it. We placed our order of 4 items. Then after about half an hour we got our spicy pork burger and grilled oysters. Yeah, that was not a bad wait. THEN in the next 40 minutes after we got our two course, we witnessed other tables who came in later than us, getting all their food. We were still missing two of our main courses. I finally can not stand it anymore. I grabbed 3 different people trying to figure out what went wrong with our order. We grabbed The first waitress and asked if something was wrong with our order, she apologized and left. The next person we spoke with was probably the owner or the manager since she was the only one who wasn't wearing an uniform, also apologized for the delay and promised she will figure out what's going on with our order. But she did not!!! The third waitress we grabbed was actually our waitress. While she was explaining to us that somebody messed up our order. The manager interrupted our conversation and told our waitress to take other orders. That was bad bad service! The food part: We got spicy pork burger, grilled oysters, Beijing noodles and fish fillet soup. The spicy pork burger was decent. Sweet chili sauce for grilled oyster and Beijing noodles? Just not the flavor I had in China, what that means is they are not authentic. To be clear, all the staff who served us were super nice expect the one who didn't have a uniform on. read more

Shaanxi is apparently a desert region of China with different cuisine from the American standards (although that food is available on the menu). The restaurant screams authenticity with many patrons speaking Chinese and the dishes seem authentic as well! Spicy noodles with pork & vegetables are amazing. No gloppy sauce and a smaller portion of meat as is seen in real Asian cooking. I was transported. I will be back to work my way thru the entire menu! read more

Tried this a few weeks ago. Only tried the Dry Pot ribs and Cumin noodles. I wanted to compare this to another spot down the road we just fell in love with called Original Cuisine. Its in a very dumpy parking lot so we were hoping this place would be the same quality food but a much nicer place. Its a much nicer place but the food here left much to be desired. We likely won't be back. The dry pot had potatoes in it that weren't even cooked and were just large french fries and there was a lot in the pot that was not even edible. Spring roll was free but not very good, def a frozen spring roll. The Cumin noodles needed a lot of help to get tasting good. Pass on this place for the food but the ambiance is great and the live music is an excellent touch. read more

Really great, authentic western Chinese cuisine. We loved the cumin toothpick lamb. Made us feel at home. Good size servings as well. The chef specialties are a little pricey, but I'm sure they're worth it. We stuck with the more traditional dishes, but avoided the last page without Chinese characters that was obviously targeting a more Americanized palate. Highly recommended by very experienced Chinese diners that I have spent a lot of time in China. The clientele was 90% Chinese. That says a lot if you are looking for authentic. read more
