I've had three sessions with Shannon and just as other people have stated ... she is a miracle worker. I booked the consult/treatment session first. I came here initially because I get scars, which turn into dark spots very easily and wanted to see what can be done to get rid of them. I have tried everything out there, every product out there that claims will do the job, but have never seen as much improvement as I see now. I never thought I had a breakout problem, but after coming here for the past four months, I realized my skin needed these treatment sessions! I didn't have really bad acne, but I do now see a significant difference in the clarity and smoothness of my skin (even my boyfriend notices the difference ... and he never notices these types of things without me telling him). The dark spots I had are drastically lighter and my complexion is much clearer. Granted the prices for each session may seem high to some, its well worth it. If I had never started coming here, I would still be doing everything wrong ... from skin care products to makeup to what I eat. There is a list of things she recommends staying away from during the duration of treatment, but its not forced (its obvioulsy completely up to you). Shannon talks to you about the do's/don'ts of skincare products and everyday routines. Also about makeup products to use and which to avoid (basically I've been blowing money on high end brands, which make your skin worse regardless of what they claim). She also recommends purchasing skincare products at the first session (which work better than any high end skin care product I've ever purchased) and its all reasonably priced for the amount of product you get. I haven't even used 1/4 of anything I've purchased and I use everything at least once, if not twice a day (also, I don't think it's mandatory to buy the products she recommends, but I'm sure glad I did). I'm the girl who needs makeup on at all times ... I can now say that I'm able to leave my house without makeup on and feel comfortable in my skin ... literally. All I know is that I'm 100% glad that I started to come here because the results I see after this short period of time, are definitely worth it. My brothers girlfriend even went to see Shannon and so far she seems happy with the regime as well. All I know is that at first you may be skeptical about everything, but I truly believe in everything from the treatment sessions, products, change in diet and makeup changes. Shannon and her team of professionals are absolutely amazing. They literally changed my life forever and I will always be grateful for the compassion, professionalism, and knowledge they have graciously bestowed upon me. If you want clear skin, Studio Abasi is worth the money a thousand times over. Yes, you have to follow their program. Yes, you must use the products they prescribe. If you do, you will achieve clear & glowing skin, period. My story: My acne kicked in after high school. I had mild but consistent acne. I always had at least a few zits and discoloration, so I was never clear. Sometimes it would flare up to pizza face. Oh joy. I tried everything from medications to Proactiv. At 29 years of age I was put on a horrible steroid medication by a Dermatologist. Instead of improving my skin - it did the reverse. I ended up with small hard bumbs covering my entire face. I'm pretty shocked that anyone could think this place is expensive! Considering the value of what you get, it's a great deal. Shannon and Kia rock! If you've ever popped one of your own pimples, you now they bleed! Well, mine bleed a lot and these ladies popped too many to count on my pimple filled face You couldn't pay me enough to work with someone else's blood and they do it all day long. My last series of facials at a spa on Maiden Lane is SF, cost me $200 a pop with minimal results. My ineffective laser treatments...$600 a piece and i had 3 of them. You name it, I've tried it! Everyone who works here made me feel very comfortable and you get the sense that they genuinely care. I never felt likeI was being "sold". The products are excellent and very affordable for the value of what you get. The best part of this program, is the all of the coaching. They're very knowledgeable about acne and skin in general. I work long hours and would send them an e-mail with questions at 11:00 p.m. and actually receive a quick reply! I've received responses to my questions on Sundays and Mondays when their closed. I found that this was an integral part of the program and is included in the cost of the $75 treatment and products. The value of what you receive for the $75 treatment and products is well worth it. i moved to the Bay area from Vermont a few weeks ago & decided to stop shaving everyday - no more boyfriend, no more need... it took a lot of patience to let those damn leg hairs get long enough for waxing, and as soon as they did i called Studio Abasi. Shannon got amazing reviews & the prices were totally reasonable - plus, it's right around the corner from my house and you can't beat convenience. i had an appointment the same afternoon that i called! i can't say the experience was painless (i guess i went at a 'painful' week in my cycle) but i was so pleased with the end result. Shannon was so informative and told me that going from shaving to waxing is a process; it can take some of the hair more than four weeks to come back and therefore she would only be able to remove 90% the first time. so when i had to go in for a 'touch-up' for my underarms, she did it free-of-charge (after responding to my emails immediately and getting me in the next afternoon)! I started using Studio Abasi's products and services roughly 3 years ago. At first, I thought the products and services were expensive and indefinitely a scam and I didn't see any improvements. After only 3-4 months of using their skincare line as well as getting regular check-ups, I saw a permanent improvement in acne and scarring. Eventually, I stopped going for my check-ups but continued to use their products for 8-9 months. This first year after going to Studio Abasi, I saw leaps and bounds of improvements. After this first year I switched off of Studio Abasi's Skincare Line (still believing that the products and services were a scam) and back to store-bought products. Although my skin wasn't bad, my skin began reverting back to it's old ways slowly. I came in last Friday for my first consultation and acne treatment with Shannon. I have read so many good reviews about her to the point I felt that I could trust her and book 2 more appointments ahead before I came to see her. Lol. The experience was nice and pleasant as she seems to be very knowledge about what she does. The acne extractions could be painful to some people as i saw how hard she were trying to get all those gunk out of my pores; but I think that was satisfying . In the end , I did purchase bunch of things per her recommendation to start this acne treatment program. I don't think it was hard selling, like some other reviews said. She basically is telling you that in order for her methods to work, you need to use certain products; and they happen to be products sold by her studio . I really appreciate the fact that, before I left, she told me to not worry about my skin anymore, it's no longer my problem, but hers. I keep remembering that whenenver i see my terrible skin in the mirror and wanted to something about it, I left it alone, assuring my self Shannon's products should take care of it. I started going to shannon at Studio Abasi after I noticed a significant improvement in my roommates acne prone skin. I had already been to several skin care places in my home town and a Berkeley dermatologist. My roommate finally convinced me to go and I'm so happy with my results! At the initial appt. Shannon had me bring in all of my current skin care products which was a mish mash of different things all for acne. We went over the ingredient list together and crossed referenced then against a list of safe and pore clogging ingredients. It doesn't get any better than Shannon and her team! I suffered from acne for over 8 years. Nothing helped. I tried several dermatologists, got help from one of Norways best hospitals, not even Roaccutane worked for me. In 2012 I studied at UCB. My friend visited Studio Abasi for a Brazilian wax, and she told me they got acne treatment there aswell. I thought I should give it a try, and I do not regret that! Sun damage and acne, lovely. Came here hoping for even the slightest improvement. I have spent so much money on my skin visiting expensive medi-spas, dermatologists, and pricey skin care products. First, the staff made me feel so comfortable about a condition that I am incredibly self-conscience about. I always wore heavy makeup to cover up the discoloration and acne. I'm sure the makeup was not helping with my acne. They encouraged me to reach out via e-mail if I had any questions or concerns about my skin, the regimen, their products, etc. Well, I'm a worrier so I reached out a lot! They were all so gracious and patient with me. On one occasion, I stopped by to pick up a product and asked a question about my skin. I have been seeing Shannon for a few months now and my skin is completely clear of acne...just working on fading a few scars at this point. Initially, my face had heavy, inflamed acne that I just knew I would never be able to get ride of after having been to several dermatologists and trying countless products over the years that didn't do the trick. However, since I've been going to Shannon for treatment, breakouts aren't as consistent and my face is so much clearer and smoother. I even take a medication that is known to induce acne, and I am having fewer and fewer breakouts the longer I stay committed to using the products which, in comparison to prescription products and the amount of money you spend on over-the-counter products over the course of time, are pretty inexpensive (not to mention, they actually work). Alright, I'm gonna break down the real "The good, the bad, & the ugly". The Good: My inflamed unsightly acne is no more. After years of antibiotics, topical creams, and most recently, several very expensive laser treatments, Shannon helped clear my acne. Listen up people, this is an acne program. It's a process and you can't expect to become clear by getting a "purifying facial". She doesn't have one on her menu anyway so don't ask for one. What I did get was a lot of education, treatments, and an incredibly effective home care regimen. The level of support that I received from her was like no other. I saw Shannon each and every time. I love Studio Abasi! I had some pretty unsightly hormonal acne after going off the birth control pill and tried everything under the sun to control it! Everything my dermatologist prescribed me just seemed to inflame my face more. It was so horrible for my self esteem. I woke up every morning obsessing about it. After going to Studio Abasi once and using the products for a month, my face was almost completely clear! It was a miracle! I go now every couple of months for extractions and have been very satisfied. I still get a few pimples around my period but it's much less severe than it was. I have really sensitive acne prone skin and I've tried so many products from the most expensive to very affordable, prescriptions, and social media recommendations. Some would work for a time, but the acne would come right back. The staff here truly care! They worked with me switching up my home care regimen until we found just the right combination of products that cleared my sensitive skin and pigmentation. My advice is to be patient, which was the hardest for me, but well worth it. I wasted so much money in the past trying different products. I had my wedding makeup done here by Shannon and it was fantastic! I also recommend her face moisturizing gel if you have dry skin - that stuff is amazing. Valerie does a great leg/brow wax and individual eyelashes. She'll also give you skin advice for whatever your condition may or may not be. Plus she's fun to hang out/chat with while you're there.
