I really enjoyed the food. More CAL influence than TX/MEX. I had the governors tacos which were delicious and priced decently for the Amt of food including the sides. My friend had "the bowl" with chicken. She said it was tasty. We also had the chorizo queso, also very good. I had the mission margarita which I enjoyed. Our servers were helpful and attentive. The ambiance was fine, very people watching hip casual vibe. The only problem I had with this "joint" is that there is a step in the back corridor to the restroom that is not at all well marked and I walked right off it and landed on my knee and elbow on a quarry tile floor. The staff helped me stand up, but I was headed out to a concert at the pageant and did not realize the cut on my elbow was deep and bled for another 3 hrs and then more when I got home that night. It was bandaged and sanitized when I got home, but 2 days later it all still hurts. Need more obvious markers at this location before somebody breaks something. So glad I did not! Probably would have given you 5 starts if I hadn't left injured. read more

Amazing food and great selection of craft beer on tap.Close to thr pageant if you happen to be attending a show give it a try.

Great taco place with lots of gluten free options. Love it. We were with a party of 7 and everyone loved it. The burrito bowl was especially good. read more

The food was fresh and the tasted excellent. We went a little early but there was a crowd beginning. It was a welcome relief from the tornado damaged neighborhood that I live in. What was especially nice was the service. Hands down one of the best waiters I have encountered in recent memory. She knew all about the food and especially impressive, she knew the rather expansive beer list. I will go again for sure. read more

I'm shocked I've never been here before tonight. I love tacos and I've heard about Mission from several people but had yet to visit. Let's start with the service, Emily was amazing! Probably the most personable server I've had, she joked with us, visited our table at the perfect times and overall just had great customer service. Next is the drinks, I highly recommend the Mezcal Margarita, this is literally the best margarita I have ever had, I could have drank them all night because it went down so easily so watch out, they can be dangerous! The food was delicious, a great mix of flavors with a kick of spice that wasn't overpowering. It may have been my first time here but it won't be my last! read more

I have been here many times. Everytime I come here the food is always flavorful and cooked properly! The drinks are made fresh and are never watered down. The atmosphere is a nice chill place with a bar right in the middle of it all. The music is a little loud, but I can never hear anyone anyway so it's all good. I am a big fan of the custom mexican wrestler heads on the wall that were done by an established St. Louis artist. If you are ever needing to pick between here and another mexican place, go here. You will not be disappointed. read more

First time having tacos and I would say, not bad at all. I really like how Mission Taco uses soft-shell tacos instead of the hard ones so it holds the food together more. Came at around 6pm on a Saturday night and was surprised to find that it wasn't super crowded. 1. Baja Fish - The better taco out of the two that I tried. I got the grilled version for the fish and it was super juicy. 2. BBQ Duck - Not sure if there is any duck in this but the star was definitely the pickled onions which is so weird because I usually like the meat much more. 3. Chile Crusted Potato Fries - My favorite sort of fries is the ones where it is crispy on the outside but still hold the mashed potato texture on the inside and this one definitely got it. Loved the slight chile flavor on the outside. Could do without the dipping sauce which had too much mayonnaise for my taste. Small portion though for $4. Overall a wonderful experience at Mission Taco and definitely will go back. Perhaps every taco try on their menu? read more

Despite some spots I consider to be superior tacos, not the point of this review, Mission Taco is a mission success not matter the occasion. It's not just the fantastic late night menu or the amazing top shelf margs, it's the creativity and consistent execution of very solid tacos coupled with a strong atmosphere that screams hip St Louis food. Whether it's the loop or my preferred CWE location (superior patio or inside window people watching), the quality is consistent and the whole experience on point. Only word to the wise, the tacos don't fair well for take out, I do not recommend at all (now that the pandemic has made me a take out connoisseur). read more

Stopped by mission taco after a long hiatus. Used to go all the time for happy hour, but it seems they no longer have the $2 taco promotion. Regardless I got my two favorite tacos here, the portobello mushroom and the carne asada. The mushroom one was the better of the two this time, has good flavor and a lot of mushrooms inside. The carne asada was a little dry this time, both in the taco and with the fries. The big difference I noticed this time was the tortilla just seemed a little stale and brittle, maybe will try flour next time. read more

Tacos.... yum...... Mission Taco Joint has a fun vibe, a decorative interior, but most importantly, they serve up delicious tacos! Our table ordered a variety.... grilled Baja fish taco (my favorite!!), Carne Asada, a portobello mushroom taco, a pork taco and a grilled chicken taco. Normally I take pics of the food, but..... we were starving!!! The tacos were promptly devoured upon delivery to our table! Excellent! As I mentioned, the Baja fish taco was my personal fave. The grilled chicken was great, too, and it had a bit more heat. The service was quick. We didn't have to wait long at all for our order to arrive. Meanwhile, we noshed on chips & guacamole. My daughter is the student-local here, so I won't have the chance to come often. But I look forward to coming again on a future visit! read more

Dinner at Mission on Delmar was, yet again, exquisite. I got my usual, the mango-hop-enero taco and chili crusted fries. I also got my favorite drink, the Slim Slam Jim Jam. This would be my pick for my last meal if I were on death row. Our server, Drew, truly went above and beyond. As I was leaving, the stroller holding my baby slipped from my grip and began rolling down the street and into oncoming traffic. Drew did not hesitate. They ran out of the restaurant, did about 3 back handsprings, a backflip, and a quadruple hammy whammer (and landed it, I might add). They saved my baby from the oncoming car. I shall be writing them into my will. Thank you, Drew, you are what this city needs. read more

Okay, I guess I will be that person. Mission Taco Joint hit a middle of the road review for me. I live in the mecca of taco joints, so I tend to be a bit picky on my soft shell goodness. With that out of the way, I am by no means saying Mission Taco is bad, it just really left me with more to be desired. Arrived on a semi busy day, but was seated and tended to right away, so two thumbs up to the attentive staff. Menu itself is very straightforward, so no worries about spending ample time trying to figure out what you want. I opted for three tacos of course, those being: Beef Birria, Mango-Hop Anero Shrimp, and a Spicy Chorizo. Quick service was another plus even with being how busy it was, we got our food right away it felt like. So out of the three, Beef Birria won by a landslide, moist and delicious flavors that molded together very nicely. The shrimp taco was a tad bland and mango really overpowered everything and the spicy chorizo was sadly just okay, not too spicy to be honest. They did provide a ample serving size, so I was all on board with that and their prices are very fair and comparative to what I would pay for back home. So while not the best food experience, I would not shy away from trying it again to focusing on other menu items next time. read more

What a great restaurant! But be warned: the delivery app prices are insane. Like, highway robbery level insane.

Updating this review due to owners response. Should have been clear. I would have given this restaurant a 3 at most before the price point. The cost subtracted only 1 star from my review. The food is ok . Not great, for the prices you charge it's not even good. I understand wanting to pay people well. I've worked in restaurants that have. But our quality to price ratio was not part of that equation of paying our employees. We didn't sacrifice on any front there. The point of the review was not to complain about the price it was to complain about the food quality not matching that price point. If the food was incredible price wouldn't be a factor but as it sits the food is mid tier at best. There are just better places in this city that pay their employees well and don't also overcharge their customers while using the well-being of their employees as a shield from criticism. read more

The service was slow on this Saturday late night. The tacos, burrito and the tortas were so tasty and filling. We got a mix of tacos- the best being the Baja fish. My drink- Painkiller was refreshing and sweet- just the way I like it. Hot churros with chocolate sauce was a perfect ending to this meal. read more

Duck tacos ftw!! mission Taco's is a tried-and-true consistent place to go for some decent taco offerings. The tortillas are made fresh on-site daily, and all of their flavors seem to go together really well. It is a mix between traditional and Americana taco style. My personal favorite dish to get since I eat low carb food, is a carne asada fries minus the potatoes. I then add a side of the mole a sauce, but they used to drench the burritos in. Top it off with some extra guacamole, and I am in low-carb high-fat heaven. In terms of the tacos, not only of the duck taco super delicious, so is the pork taco. The quacamole is okay but not their star. I would not recommend any of the mission Taco's for large groups, because not only is it a very popular place in the evening, they also just don't seem to welcome them. I showed up with a group of 10 people last week and was haggled over trying to combine two tables. I understand that they are trying to limit table size but I'm surprised they don't have a group area. read more

Met a friend here on a Monday at about 4 pm. Only us and 2 other people in the restaurant. Service was pretty good, food not so much. I ordered the mushroom taco, and the plant based taco BOTH was nasty. I don't know if it was grease or mushroom juice coming out of one taco, but it was a lot, and it wasn't favorable at all. The plant based just didn't look or taste done, and I eat plant based in particular Beyond and Impossible. I'm not sure which this was or if it was either one. Couldn't finish the tacos. My friend ordered some stuff chicken appetizer that she enjoyed, and both of our drinks were delish! read more

Was looking for dinner and we decided to go with some tacos at Mission. I haven't been in awhile since Covid but noticed they had a lot of new menu items available for non meat eaters so I was very happy! This street taco place is not my favorite... in fact, I don't go here after two visits. The tacos are just not very good- flavors a bit off, greasy. Both times I went it was pretty busy and took some time to get our food. Restaurant was also a bit loud. I don't recommend this place to visitors read more

Sitting at the bar can be a good thing (relatively faster service, possibly more conversation), or it can be a bad thing. On Saturday at about 4pm, sitting at the bar turned out to be a bad thing. My meal of three tacos, chips and salsa, and strawberry margarita were great and delivered quickly, but the service SUCKED! The bar wasn't busy but the bartender never asked how my meal was or checked on me. Instead he was busy laughing and loudly talking with his coworkers (and possibly managers) who were posted near me at the end of the bar. After being finished with everything for a short while, I sat there waiting to be acknowledged to get my bill. I had to ask for it finally. This was the third attempt that I had made to eat at this location of Mission Taco Joint since its inception. The first two times, the wait was so long (an hour) that I chose other options. I was excited to finally check out this location and I can COMFORTABLY say that I'll stick to the CWE location from here on out. The service seems better there. read more

I've been to mission taco quite often and I can say that you come here for the quality not the value. It is Delmar so high prices are obviously expected. I always get the Brahrito and south chicken burritos and they always hit the spot. I definitely recommend getting them smothered in sauce otherwise they tend to be dry. In the past the tacos seem to be overly dry for the large price per taco. I've had the duck and fish tacos which weren't star stoppers but the spicy chicken was very tasty. The chicken had a nice kick with an acidic salsa and sweet sauce to balance it out. My only issue is that the tortilla was a bit too soft and didn't have any slight browning The refrescas are nice but a little too sweet for me personally. The chips and salsa were bland. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Got the carne asada fries. The beef was inedible. So chewy and not a good cut. Server seemed swamped. Wouldn't get again.

I walked in at lunch; the restaurant was about half full. The host told me where to sit. Then nothing. I walked out after 10 minutes. What's the point? Good food if someone bothers to take your order. read more

I'm visiting St. Louis and ordered a few different tacos for delivery. We ordered the mushroom, steak, and fried fish tacos. For sides we ordered the corn and the refried black beans. The best thing was the fried fish taco, WITHOUT the tortillas. It was the only item that had any seasoning other than everything being just a little bit spicy. All the tortillas were slightly burned which was the over arching flavor of the meal. Even the corn was burnt, I did not taste any lime or crema in the street style corn. I was really looking forward to a great meal, but had to season all the tacos myself. It may have just been a delivery experience. I'm thinking so considering all the favorable reviews. read more

Heyy! Can't believe I haven't left a review of this location of Mission Taco Joint. I stopped in this past Friday afternoon for a quick lunch by myself. Per usual, I love sitting at the bar. I needed to get in and out and the staff was more than helpful with that. I ordered two of the seasonal tacos, which I'm definitely going to butcher the spelling, but they called them Chaparitos? All you need to know is that they are delicious. The base is short rib, they had olives on them and this feta- like cheese. So So good. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful from the host to the bartender and manager. The whole experience was just was I needed that day friendly, delicious, and efficient! read more

Another first time visit - our family loves tacos as most people do. The staff was really nice, the food was hot and came out quickly. We do NOT like corn tortillas and changed to flour with no problems. Duck taco - family loves this one! Grilled chicken taco - it was spicier than I expected but really good Baja fish taco - excellent Shrimp taco - my shrimp loving son didn't read the description and see guacamole was on it. He also didn't care for the pineapple salsa but loved the shrimp Steak taco - my hubby like this one a lot but liked the duck better Empanadas - my mom got this appetizer for her lunch and ended up not finishing it. She said it was too Spicy. chips and salsa - no one really likes the salsas. The mild was ok but the spicy looked and tasted like a spicy tomato soup. Queso dip - this was good read more

The food is good after you figure out what you like. I've been here several times for togo and dine in and the service is always great. I'm on the fence with Mission Taco. It's got a great atmosphere and a small indoor/outdoor seating and bar area. The spicy margarita was outstanding! The guacamole was good and the mango shrimp taco was really good. The Yucatán taco was good but a little light on filling. I think I'd need 3 tacos next time as they're pretty small. The lackluster review comes from the table order of several carne asada tacos which they were disappointed with - no flavor and the meat was overdone. Other than a bit of hit and miss depending on the tacos ordered, it was good and I'd give it another shot. read more

First time here and it was pretty decent for a taco joint. I asked for a strawberry agua Fresca and got soda water with strawberry syrup added. That is NOT agua Fresca. The guacamole was decent. Chips were crispy. Got the fish taco and the beef and the crispy chicken and they were all decent. Nothing to write home about. Got a side of the street corn and that was good too. All in all decent but I was expecting some higher level deliciousness. I was wrong. read more
