I needed to get in and out and the staff was more than helpful with that. I ordered two of the seasonal tacos, which I'm definitely going to butcher the spelling, but they called them Chaparitos? All you need to know is that they are delicious. The base is short rib, they had olives on them and this feta- like cheese. So So good. Love the food here although personally I feel the tacos are overpriced. I really like the food here especially the street corn. I will say my boyfriend and I had an awful experience one time. This review is long overdue, but Mission Taco on the loop has been the lifeline for my friends and I over the past two years. We live in the loft apartments right next door and we've been here for almost every Thursday Night Happy Hour since we moved in. The tacos are very delicious. Arguably they are pretty pricy with each taco ranging from $3.50-4, however happy hour cuts every taco to $2 which is pretty nice. Typically my friends and I will eat about 3-4 tacos per visit depending on how hungry we are. Our group favorites (in order) are the Hot Fried Chicken Taco, Shrimp Taco, Carne Asada Taco, and the Baja Grilled Fish Taco. Beyond tacos, the street corn is pretty stellar as well as the chips and guacamole. In terms of drinks, Pandora's Lunch Box is a sweet and tasty Pineapple Beer based drink, additionally the DTO is tart and sweet. I'd recommend any of these items. The seating inside is pretty comfortable and on nice days they do seating outside--especially in the summer. The service there has always been great and the waiters and waitresses are very attentive. Overall this place has been a nice spot for my friends and I to make memories over the years while we were at WashU and I would recommend it to anyone who's by the loop and wants to go somewhere with great food and chill vibes. read more

#SMDH Never again. First of all, one of the forks we were given had dried up food on it and the other one was dirty. Hello #covidtimes?!? I almost threw up seeing that. PLEASE, I pray to God they actually wash their dishes instead of making everyone recycle each other's spit. Second, $7!!! for packaged guacamole?!?! The tiny bowl of "squeezed straight out of a plastic bag" watery guacamole was definitely NOT worth $7. If I wanted that, I could've bought the 4-pack guacamole packs from Trader Joe's, which are probably better quality than the watery gunk they served us. Third, the tomato sauce smothered on top of our burritos for an extra $1 each was ridiculously salty that we ended up asking for queso sauce to try and neutralize the flavor, but even the queso sauce tasted off--like it was expired. The ONLY reason I didn't give this place a 1-star rating is because our waiter, Bryan, was nice and apologetic re: the dirty forks. He brought us clean ones and he didn't charge us extra for the queso sauce. I know that none of the above mentioned disappointments were his fault since he's not the one in charge of the menu or the quality of the food. We were the only customers when we got in there around 11;40 am on a Monday, and it took a while for us to be served. and at that point it was fine. but then it took him forever to take our order- other customers were now coming in and were being served before us. We got there a half and hour before the next customers did and we got our food at the same time because of our waiter. Then when I ordered my brah-rito, I noticed it was very dry and bland. But since I was with a 4 year old and baby I just wanted to eat my food and get out of there as it was taking longer than we were expecting any way. After I finished eating I peeked at the menu and realized my food was missing two ingredients- the cheese and the guacamole- and there were only like 6 ingredients total. We sent it back and ordered the queso instead and as our waiter brought our queso out he mentioned we probably wouldn't like it. It was extremely watery and had a visible layer of oil on top of it. For our entrees, my partner ordered the grilled tacos which had a pineapple pico and fried onion strings. The pico was extremely watery leaving a mess as he bit into it and the fried onion were soggy and cold. Even the chicken on the taco was cold. I ordered the southwest burrito and the chicken was not all the way cooked. I didn't think to take pictures until the end but I managed to capture one. The atmosphere was nice. A STL classic that I was very excited to try! This Mission Taco location was prime and bustling even on a Wednesday. I was able to put my name down in advance on the No Wait App, and we were seated as soon as we arrived at the restaurant. We did not come for the late night happy hour deal for tacos, but the price of the tacos was still extremely reasonable. The three tacos I tried were the chicken al pastor, portobello, and the tofu. My favorite were the chicken and portobello as both were flavorful and unique. I was not as much of a fan of the tofu since tofu itself can be bland, and the taco was not as enjoyable.
