The staff is very friendly and courteous. However the menu was a little difficult for me to order from. The corn fritters were very delicious however there was definitely some sort of cheese or cream in the fritters. I cannot eat dairy so I was bummed to see this. Mission Taco is a staple for me in St Louis. They have by far the best margaritas I've had at a restaurant (I make my own and I'm often disappointed when I go out and order them). They may be a bit expensive, but it's worth it. As for food, their tacos are diverse and delicious, and I love their street corn. If you're not a fan of corn tortillas for taco shells, they just added a flour tortilla option, and use flour tortillas for their burritos as well. They also have a late night happy hour where you can get $1 tequila shots and $2 tacos. I keep trying other taco places and I just keep coming back. Give it a try! My boyfriend and I stopped in during a trip to St. Louis after hearing numerous raving reviews about Mission Taco. It was crowded and seemed to be a favorite amongst locals. The service was fine and the food was fine; nothing bad but also nothing to write home about. The tacos were a little on the small side and the corn tortilla didn't appear to be fully cooked, which made for a slightly underwhelming experience. I will say that the portobello taco had the most flavor out of the selection we ordered. Overall, everything was fine and I have no complaints; I was just a little underwhelmed. *Parking - This location is at The Loop and I hear parking can be a little tricky during special events or peak hours. Crispy tortillas stuffed with Blue Crab Meat, Roasted Corn and Spicy Avocado Sauce. Don't worry about dipping or smearing them in the garnishes on the plate, they are perfect just the way they are served. I was starving and was trying to find a decent place for dinner, mission taco joint popped up on my trusty yelp app. Since we were there so late at night they had a taco happy hour so only $2 for tacos. We ordered the fried cheese curd appetizer, 4 tacos (beef, duck, pork, and steak) I also ordered a veggie torta that came with fries. We chose to sit outside because there were many people drinking inside and it was way too loud. The cheese curds came out in about 15 minutes, they were deliciously chewy and cheesey. The veggie torta came with huge chunks of portobello mushrooms and had a great sauce on it. It was really filling and I was only able to eat half of it. We hung out at the nifty little side bar and had some drinks and snacks and my appetite grew just hanging out in this room. Our crew started with the flautas and the cheese fries. These were good, although each were very heavy before tacos and I didn't do the best pacing job I've ever done, filling up before the tacos made their appearance. For dinner, I had a carne asada taco, a grilled fish taco, and a pork taco. Carne asada was the definite winner, I could roll with three of those and be happy. Very well flavored, simple and well cooked. Based on all the food I've rattled off, this should come as no surprise: You will be full after eating here. Found a new place to go when I visit STL! I loved everything I ordered here. Well, I didn't love the crab taquitos, but they were "good." The carne asada fries alone would make me come back. I got the sweet potato & chorizo and the beef brisket birria tacos. Loved the contents of the taco and sauces. The street corn "off the cob" was delicious too! We ended with churros and those simply tasted like churros, nothing out of the ordinary. I'd probably skip them next time and have another app or taco! Our service was excellent. The shining star of the apps seemed to be the chicken flautas though. For dinner we all did tacos and there was some serious sharing going on. I had the fried fish, duck, and beef brisket. They were all excellent, but that duck taco was just over the top. I also sampled the cactus one. I was warned that it was really spicy, but I thought it was very manageable. We all left completely stuffed. The drinks were great and the staff really took care of us after our initial wait. I'm on the fence with Mission Taco. It's got a great atmosphere and a small indoor/outdoor seating and bar area. The spicy margarita was outstanding! The guacamole was good and the mango shrimp taco was really good. The Yucatán taco was good but a little light on filling. I think I'd need 3 tacos next time as they're pretty small. The lackluster review comes from the table order of several carne asada tacos which they were disappointed with - no flavor and the meat was overdone. I have waited way too long to come down to MTJ. I see it on bumper stickers, I hear about it from friends, but living in West STL County we didn't want to come down to the bustle of the Loop.. well I am so glad we did. The host was kind and apologetic for the wait. We noticed a sign that said after 10PM they offer $2 tacos and tequila (awesome! But you can imagine it gets busy on weekends). Once we sat down, we got waters and ordered our queso. Chips don't come complimentary which is kind of a bummer, but the queso was delish! $7 for a large portion with unlimited chips. We sat outside, which was dog friendly, big and small. We loved that, they even give your pup a bowl of water. We ordered 3 tacos each for a total of - 2 shrimp 2 Duck 1 fish 1 steak They were all delish but our favorites were the shrimp and the duck. The steak was a good taco, just like any other steak street taco. The fish were really good, light and well executed. The shrimp had a great texture, light and spicy whole the mango salsa cooled. The BBQ Duck was the opposite, heavy and not spicy but more savory and what I felt like would have been the perfect taco for representing STL. Our server was attentive and she kept our waters cold and filled even though the temp was getting up to 80 degrees (40 degrees two days before.. good old STL weather) Fast forward to desert, the CHURROS - O. To Paulie G., I was so excited to go to this fine restaurant and have heard great things. Unfortunately, that was not the experience I received. Our server, Diamond, was very short and rude to us. It made me and my friends feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. There were certain menu items offered to us in a friendly free way. This place has really gone downhill as they have expanded. The quality of the food is so so, the presentation is sloppy, and the pace of the meal is way too fast. Plus, my last server was really sub-par. They are cranking people in and out, and it doesn't feel like a nice dining experience, more like a fast-casual one. My server even admitted on this last visit everything is pre-prepared, and they just assemble tacos as ordered, which explains why they can get tacos to your table in 5-10 min.
