Pho so good it will make you slurp the noodle, sip the broth, then run home and smack your mom. Because why the hell didn't you make me this when I was growing up. Clean broth, thicker flatter wider noodle than the typical rice noodle, and a generous amount of protein. The Pho French dip is the perfect balance of a few of my favorite things rolled into the most tasty morsel of delectable crunchiness. The flavored iced coffees, tonics teas and shrubs are the perfect pairing to these incredible dishes. No item on the menu will disappoint. This is a family run establishment, the owners mom and dad are in the kitchen and make some incredible food. The space is in an unbeknownst strip mall parking is limited and there is no public restroom. Aside from that the interior is super cute, bright, and artsy. A somewhat similar vibe to the DTLA loc The fact that I can walk here from my house dangerous, but at least I will burn some of the calories getting to and from. read more

What a gem of a restaurant. The food is extremely satisfying and sesame dinette adds something unique and different to traditional dishes. For example the pho dip sandwich is really good. Who doesn't love a good beef dip sandwich? Combine that concept with pho and you get this extremely satisfying sandwich. Hard to describe and it could have gone in many different directions but the way that sesame dinette took it was novel and tasty. The pho dip had a deeper and beefier soup base than the pho broth. The meet in the sandwich was thinly sliced but satisfying and the bread was mildly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. The proportion of beef to bread was pretty good and it made for a great mouthful with each bite. I do think that there is some room to add an acid element or something like horseradish sauce possible? Sriracha mayo? Something to accompany or a quick way to add flavor to each bite. The pho was great. The noodles were thin and flat. The soup base was slightly sweeter than the typical broth. The cuts of meat were excellent and every ingredient used was clean and fresh. The temperature of the soup was excellent as well. Overall I thought that they did an excellent job and the food was worth every penny. read more

Like other reviewers mentioned this is a hidden gem. We had errands in Long Beach and had bookmarked this restaurant a while back based on a Los Angeles Times article. I'm glad we drove a little out of our way to visit. Parking can be tough as it's lot is shared with a laundromat but had found street parking in front. I'm still thinking about how good it was! It was the happiest I've been with a meal in a long while. I got the tofu spring rolls and the vermicelli salad with fish and it was incredible. The delicate flavors of fennel and Thai basil complimented the fish so well. Portions are so big that my leftovers were enough for two more meals and it was still delicious. I've had banh mi's all over the world. Some of the best I've had were in NYC. Some were in Asia. But this place had the best so far. Just the perfect ratio of bread, meat and spice. Came all the way here from the 626 area to try the pho French dip and it did not disappoint. Absolutely fantastic sandwich that mixed two cultures beautifully. The bread is not your typical baguette they use for bánh mì and they use what I believe is a Persian bread called barbari. I crave this daily and I'm sad that it's not open on my days off. Always hard to find good Vietnamese food in Long Beach! Traditional dishes with a hipster twist we got the banh mi with pork and the lemon grass beef vermicelli. What a great find! Everything was so delicious and fresh. The service was lovely and the space was bright and casual. Ironically, my Lyft driver on the way over was Vietnamese and was happy to hear I was going to a Vietnamese restaurant, but said this place was "for foreigners." However, I think the restaurant owners are Vietnamese, they just created a place with authentic French Vietnamese food that also appeals to white people coming down from LA or whatever. INCREDIBLE! Decided to have a day out in LB yesterday and was looking where to eat lunch. I had Sesame Dinette bookmarked from a few months back, so husband, baby and I decided to go check it out. SO happy we did, holy wow, this place is excellent. We ordered the chicken banh mi, pork noodles and vegan tofu fresh rolls. Everything was superb. The bread on the chicken banh mi was exceptional, so crispy and delicious. We love a traditional banh mi on French bread, so when we saw that Sesame did it on something different, we were a bit skeptical, but wow, this sandwich is special. The pork noodles had so much flavor bursting through the entirety of the dish. Took me back to traveling through Vietnam. They also have non alcoholic beverages - a great accompaniment to an excellent lunch. The overall vibe is minimal, designed and chill, a very nice setting to enjoy food. It actually reminded us a lot of Woon in LA (the vibe and food) which is a great thing because Woon is a whole other league. The service was great, the lady helping us was nice as can be. Supppper bomb. We stopped at Beachwood over the weekend and tried a Crispy pork sandwich from their pop up stand. Luckily we were in the area of the restaurant at just the right time as they were closing in 30 and we like to go orders. So we ordered a bunch of food and wow!!!! It did not disappoint. New to the neighborhood and looking for yummy vegan food. Although there aren't a ton of vegan options the ones they have are super delicious! Our go-to dish is the Vegetarian "Duck" Noodle Soup with vegan noodles, Vegan Summer Rolls, and Viet Latte with Oat Milk. Just one note: they do not have a public restroom for you to use so just make sure you don't have to go when you come to eat! read more

Sesame Dinette is amazing. They have a menu with both authentic dishes and more modern styles of Vietnamese food. My favorite is the turmeric grilled fish, but all the sandwiches are great too. There's not a whole lot of Vietnamese places in LB, so this spot is a gem! Clean, friendly, and some of the most delicious food around town. A must try if you're in the area for lunch! My only complaint is I wish they were open more often (it's only open until 5pm and closed on sundays, so sometimes it's hard to make it) read more

What a hidden gem! So glad my friend Philip introduced me to this family-owned Vietnamese restaurant. Ingredients/food/drink are incredibly fresh, thoughtfully made, and simply delicious. The Pot of Tea was carefully brewed by hand. We decided to get the Herbal blend (Lemongrass, Ginger, Cinnamon, Orange peel) and the flavors were perfectly balance, smooth, & probably one of the best teas I've had in awhile. My friend got the Vegetarian "Duck" noodles and he just loves & appreciates their Vegan options. And though he's tried almost every dish here, This particular dish is his favorite. I tried their Noodle Salad Bowl (Bún) with Turmeric fish as MY first time and I have to say that their Bún is the most healthy & variety of ingredients I've had in regards to Bún. Usually the sauce can be too sweet, but their sauce was perfectly balanced. I got the Hojicha Latte w/ Oatmilk as my dessert drink and that was on point with flavor as well. Not too sweet, perfectly creamy, and I could actually taste the hojicha. And my friend recommended we also get the Sago Sundae and that wasn't too sweet either. Perfectly balanced flavors too! We went here recently and the food was amazing! I tried the pork banh mi and it was one of the top 2 Vietnamese sandwiches I have ever had. The bread was perfect (thin and crunchy). The meat to the bread ratio was definitely on point. I can eat it every day, it was that good. I also tried the pork vermicelli and it was also very light and delicious. My husband had the oxtail pho. He said it was also one of the best that he's had. We cannot wait to come back and try more dishes. The person who works at the counter is very friendly and welcoming. She was knowledgeable about the menu and was very helpful. I wish we live closer because I would come here every day. Be sure to try the grilled beef in lolot leaves - they are delicious flavor bombs and conveniently low carb. The banh mi sandwiches are also tasty and perfectly balanced. I had the noodle salad with tofu and it was amazing! I have never had braised tofu before and it was incredible. I will definitely come back again when I am in Long Beach. The location is lost in between two big stores (don't think your GPS took you to the wrong place), and there is free parking. Price is good for what you get. read more
