We were looking for a healthy lunch option downtown and saw this Greek and Lebanese fast food place. The owner/manager (?} was friendly and greeted so many of the locals by name as they came in for lunch. You order from a board over the counter. We ordered a #8 and #12 a lite chicken shawarma plate and a lite gyro lamb and beef plate. We also ordered 2 falafel. The highlights of our meals were the hummus and the salad. The chicken and gyro meat were tasty but dry. Also, the falafels were really dry but if you dipped them in the sauce they were ok. I'm sure if you had the meat freshly sliced it would have been better than the meat sitting in the warming pan. I would try it again and would definitely go back for the hummus and salad. Express indeed! This is quite possibly the most efficient to-go experience I have ever had. This tiny building packs a punch. The staff members are all friendly and helpful. They are so efficient with their work. I went in for a to go lunch and I couldn't decide what to get so I ordered a chicken box. It was super tasty and filling. The price was on point as well! These are really the stars at Serop's Express! You can combine several to make a plate, or have one or two with your classic entree. They include everything from salads, soups, to stuffed vegetables. The vegetables themselves are surprisingly tender-crisp. Especially things like steamed broccoli and cabbage which are often over-cooked at other establishments. You can have a very healthy lunch by making good choices from their serving line. That's another reason Serop's Express is popular with the lunch crowd, the speed with which you can be served. Everything is ready and all you have to do is tell them what you would like. Go there often enough and the servers will begin greeting you by name. The food is pretty good overall for a fast lunch. The problem is the workers. There is this one guy that is super nice and he knows everyone that walks through the door. But, he is really loud and can be obnoxious. But, I decided to eat inside at the place the other day and they were all trying to pull the hot bar and clean up. Music was playing in the place and all of a sudden, it switches to rap music. The rap music is not edited at all and is dropping F bombs and other profanity. To top it off, one of the workers starts singing along with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg and dropping the F bombs to the song as well. I was just stunned that a business of any sort would be blasting unedited rap music and the workers would sing along to it. For this very reason, I cannot recommend this place at all. 3.5 stars This is a staple lunch haunt for me. I usually get the chick gyro salad. While the chicken is flavorful, and all the other toppings are yummy too, I dislike the fact that they mix their lettuce with the dressing and keep it ready to go, which means the greens are all soggy and messy even before they make their way to my desk :( The Tzatiki is just delish, and the spinach pie is super yum too (usually that is, it sometimes tends to be too carboard-y, when it has been sitting out for too long). The pita bread comes complimentary with a little tub of tzatziki The lady who mans the cash counter is usually sullen and get-on-with-you kinds, which I just mostly ignore. This is a pretty good spot for a quick lunch downtown. It is not the best Greek and Lebanese food I've ever eaten. The salad, for example, is pretty paltry and wilted usually with just iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken shawarma could use a little more blackening. Yum! I come here for lunch quite a bit and it's super good. The service is excellent and extremely fast and the workers are always very friendly and nice. I've never waited more than about 1 minute for my food so it's perfect for those who don't want a long lunch. They also validate parking, so hard to beat it! Serop's is great for a fast lunch. The staff are all friendly and fun. I always get the Chicken plate, which is chicken shawarma, rice, hummus and feta salad. The salad was fresh, humus had a good garlic flavor, and the chicken was seasoned lighter than I personally prefer. The last time I remember eating less than half the food on my plate, being hungry yet unable to swallow another bite was at my college cafeteria. That's how I felt. I had the lamb gyro with sides of moussaka and potatoes. The potatoes were edible, but dry. The lamb gyro had obviously been sitting in the hot line tray and was very dry and much too salty. The moussaka made me just want to cry -- in a bad way, what a horrible botch job of a Greek dish. The eggplant was terribly bitter (obviously never salted) and mushy. There was no meat or béchamel sauce I could see in the dish, which is key for moussaka. I would never recommend this place. read more

I go there all of the time for lunch. The prices are really good, and the food is delicious. I would say it is likely one of the best places for lunch downtown. While the food is delightful, the greatest thing about Serops Express is the fact that their name is completely apt. I have left my office a little further down Main, driven to Serops, ordered my food, paid, and then returned to the office in just 15 minutes. I typically get the Combination Shwarma Bowl. It has rice pilaf, lettuce, tomato, feta cheese, chicken shwarma and gyro. It is wonderful, and most of the time I can't finish it in one meal. Serops Express can always be counted on for a delicious lunch for less than $10. Overall, do yourself a favor when you are downtown for lunch and go eat something delicious at Serops Express. read more

I will never return to this place. The guy managing the food line was excessively rude to me and to the young man standing/working next to him. The food was the average, at best, and the customer service was so poor that I would have told him to keep his food if I had not been with my co-workers, who were waiting on me. Horrible! Just...yes. My partner and I were down there for a test getting ready to move to New Orleans from Michigan and I am currently back in Michigan and miss this place. I have been saying daily how much I miss that place. I hope they end up in New Orleans. Until then, I can't wait to hopefully visit again. We walked in and the options at the bar are overwhelming, even as a vegetarian, as it all looks delicious. It was so hard to pick, in fact, that I had them make up a plate for me without picking myself. The guy who was working was fantastic...he was so bright and welcoming to every single person that walked in. My turn came and he looked at me, thinking I may know what I want. I told him I'm browsing the vegetarian options. Without further questions, he pointed out and told me everything I would need to know. I said, "I'm not picky as long as there is no meat...do you think you could just throw together a vegetarian plate of your favorites?" He happily said, "Absolutely." Getting right to it, he asked why I had never been there. Clearly he knows well who had been there and who had not, which I'll get to in a bit. He grabbed a cup and filled it with lentil soup. I asked if it was made from stock. He, despite the fact I later found there was a sign making this clear, kindly explained that all stock and animal fats are replaced with water. This is such an awesome find for vegetarians for those reasons - sometimes that is hard to find. Beyond that, it was absolutely delicious. Very flavorful...and healthy to boot. I was happy to find my partner chose to go without meat. We sat there near the window sampling off each other's plates and raving about how good everything was. And the same guy didn't break the flow of the line or his concentration on anything he was doing or who he was serving, all the while greeting everyone who walked in, often by name. His service was super impressive; the degree of what he puts into is also, I feel, often hard to find. I was bummed to have accidentally forgotten the leftovers in the hotel before we left. I don't usually get bummed about forgetting leftovers. But I definitely hope I can get back there. Highly recommended. read more

Really good place to eat downtown. I got the chicken schawarma salad. The small was plenty of food. The prices are reasonable.

The food is usually passable, but there is no quality control on the items that require more than minimal preparation. The last time I got lentil soup it was spiced chicken broth with onions and maybe 10 lentils, like they had run out of soup and decided to add more broth instead of taking it off the menu for the day. The hummus is good. It's nice to have a steamed broccoli option. Don't bother with the falafels, they're dry. The moussaka and mujadara are usually good, but the quality and flavor vary widely. The chicken and gyro are probably from the same supplier used by all the other places in town, but I like Sadaf's chicken preparation better. read more
