Ordered the steak kabob medium. Got it very well done, dry and unseasoned. I opted not to get feta cheese on my salad and no humus but was charged an extra 1.50 for salad dressing! This has been the best Albasha restaurant between Lafayette,Baton Rouge,Gonzales,Covington, Metarie and New Orleans but they missed the mark today and then charging extra for salad dressing when I didn't get the humus was not a wise thing to do. Food was subpar and portions small and charged a fee for using my debit cart. Won't be back to this one! read more

My friends and I gathered for a pre-Christmas get together and a birthday, so this was the birthday girl's choice. The entrance to the shopping center is right off Airline, so be wary when trying to enter or exit the parking lot as most people treat Airline like the personal Autobahn. Lots of parking was available when we went, but i'm sure it could get dicey other times of the day. The ambiance is pretty basic. They have a touch of trying to make it not just an open air place with some divisions using bricks and fake plants, but it's not much. It's very casual. Our server was super friendly... a bit forgetful (she remembered when it mattered, i suppose, but she was super nice and made sure we were tended to but not overly pushed. Their online menu did not indicate they served alcohol, so we almost diverted completely from going here, but someone remember they do have it. They were out of the Lebanese wine we wanted which was disappointing, so we ordered other options that were not great. I mean, this is a fast food Greek place, so we didn't expect it to be, but I would suggest not wasting your money on the wine. The food was good - the fried cheese was good, just a light fried nature, and still pretty firm which was great. I ordered a vegetarian plate. The grape leaves didn't have as much flavor as you find elsewhere. The mousaka was great - both the squash and the eggplant. I can't remember the other items I got, but nothing was bad. Yeah, it's such a drag when a local dine jn dive in a crap shopping strip where you've eaten for about 15 years changes it's attitude towards upholding its service towards loyal local customers AND also slacks off on FOOD QUALITY. I knew that the ALBASHA in Prairieville, LA had changed hands a while back because frankly my Dad was SO friendly with the previous owner that he used to respoke his bent motorcycle wheels! It was actually my first time EVER calling to complain about anything at this place tonight (will absolutely be the last time too!) and I am absolutely SHOCKED at the extreme lack of proper attention AND unprofessional attitude towards a customer calling about the bad food quality of an order. The chicken shawarma combo that I usually get EVERY TIME that I eat at ANY Albasha location had chicken that was as dry as sand. It was so heavily salted and seasoned that I couldn't even swallow it. The usually delicious hummos tasted absolutely tasteless! Something was missing today from the recipe. Literally was like tasting water, it was kinda gross, and only the usual salad was ok. The spinach pie tasted BURNT -well and it clearly was microwaved because the pastry was hard. I don't know if they were getting ready to close early but GUESS WHAT for over $50 I DON'T CARE!!! BOTH the husband AND his quite nasty wife were there tonight. They must not think that people care enough to review them. BOY are they wrong. #1 a customer doesn't care what YOU think! 2. It WAS loaded with SO much salt and seasoning I gagged trying to swallow the first bite of CHICKEN SHWARMA! 3. The CHICKEN was SO dry that I couldn't even get the big chunks to shred up any smaller with my fingers because they were SO HARD. 4. HOW DARE you tell me HOW LONG I've had my food before I get around to calling YOU! 5. I can't EVEN- that you made us drive 20 minutes EACH WAY to bring it back to get a partial refund. Oh it was $14 out of $52! NEVER have I EVER had a restaurant professional ask me to do that NOR have I ever heard of anyone else who has had to do that. Ordered a Fattoush salad tonight with extra chicken $5 worth and a extra salad dressing oil and vinegar like it normally comes. I do this twice a week I might add, I normally get the $3 extra chicken I decided to increase it to $5 portion, when I got home to my surprise the chicken on the salad was the smallest portion I have ever got, there was ONE house dressing not 2 on top of it being not the correct dressing. When I questioned him he said lift the chicken the dressing is there. It isn't I promise you I have ordered this salad 100x and they never put the dressing on there!! And the portion of Extra chicken looked like the $3 I normally get. I called the restaurant back I only live 2-3 mins away the guy who I tipped generously on a Togo order say sorry nothing I can do you should have specified better. I can buy a $20 salad at so many more places, I promise you I can't specify how many times he reread my order to me. In this economy we can do better. The chicken was down right chewy in texture. I've never had bad meal here that I can remember. It' has nice but casual ambiance and usually I have great service. I love the fried cheese, the meat stuffed yellow squash and cabbage are super delicious and nutritious. The humus is always smooth and not grainy like some places and the gyro and the I love the chicken Shawarma it's seasoned perfectly. The pasta dish is good as well, my husband enjoys the okra and tomato dish and he adds grilled shrimp to it and he also loves the Soulvaki sandwich it's tender juicy pieces of beef kabobs with a tahini sesame seed sauce and dressed with pickled onions and lettuce, it is a true treat. The sautéed squash is also good. Well now I'm craving the food. Guess that's lunch again today, lol read more

The food here is amazing and will definitely keep me coming back for more. GET THE FRIED CHEESE APPETIZER! It was mouthwatering delicious, just looking at the picture of it again makes me want to go back there now. We got the gyro plate for dinner which is usually our go-to, and it did not disappoint either. The only thing I'd probably do differently is order the food To-Go next time, instead of dine in. We were seated on the right side of the restaurant, and apparently that's where the To-Go Orders get picked up, it being a busy Friday evening, the line for the To-Go orders was long (even just having 2 people pick up orders fills into the dinning area making it awkward) . I didn't like that part. Trying to have a nice some what of a intimate dinner with the husband and just people standing next to your table waiting for their food, it's awkward. For that reason I'll probably not dine-in again, OR I'll specifically ask for the other side of the restaurant. To-go seems to be where it's at though, there was a ton of people doing that ! We've been customers for years. But after tonight we will not be back to this location. This is the 3rd order on 2 different occasions of beef shish kabobs and they were full of gristle and so tough. Let me start off by saying they have an amazing staff here! Super kind and wonderful people who make you feel welcome, and this is at all the locations. This will always be my favorite Greek restaurant. The food is always phenomenal and you can be guaranteed to have a good experience here each and every time you come back. It is my go to for beef kabobs I also love the fried cheese. It's garlicky and just delicious! I recommend trying those two items, along with a Greek salad and chicken shawarma. The food is good. Impressed with tabouli as it has mostly parsley as opposed to bulgur. The spinach pie was a little tough. Falafel was very good as were rolled grape leaves & moussaka. But three stars is for the service. Is everyone quiet quitting!? I walk in & no one to greet/seat. I find an employee on the phone & ask if I can sit anywhere & she says sit in there & points. I go sit the waitress comes & says do you have a menu? I say no, she says what would you like? Me: to drink? Wait-person: yeah. I order a drink & she ask & to eat? I say a menu to look would be nice. Quick and affordable with great flavor and large portions you cannot do wrong if you are wanting Lebanese or are trying it for the first time. I have traveled a lot and was first introduced to Mediterranean food at Albasha in Baton Rouge. I have yet to have ever eaten anything as consistent and as good as Albasha. It's the perfect balance between sit down dining and fast casual. I will often stop in for a quick lunch or take the family for a nice dinner. The food is consistently good and always fresh. They have great basic dishes which I love, but I also like to mix it up with the lamb kabobs or the lamb shank. Their chicken shawarma is my favorite. I give this restaurant 5 stars because the food is great there. I normally do not eat salmon out at restaurants because it always has a strong fishy taste. But if you order the salmon at Alabasha it is cooked so good if I blindfolded you, you would never suspect it was salmon in a taste test. It doesn't have the strong fishy taste at all! I have tried many other G&L restaurants, but this one is my favorite. I always order the Gyro Plate, which comes with a generous amount of freshly cut Gyro meat straight off the rotisserie. Meat is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender. The dish comes with a side of their delicious Hummus and a wonderful feta cheese salad. Everything taste great. I have to be honest....we eat Albasha at least once a week. It's so quick and easy to get healthy options (almost always a chicken shawarma salad for me). Even our kids love it. They are quick with take out, we have ordered on Waitr and we ha eaten in at least 2 locations. The actual sit down restaurants aren't anything super fancy. Great for a causal lunch for sure. I imagine it might be hard to find a table at lunch time because it's so popular. I have never taken a picture of my food because it's just such a common occurrence I haven't considered it. read more

If you get to go order, check your order because they don't. We ordered one chicken shawarma plate and got one gyro plate. We had to bring it back (no delivery), so they could make sure we weren't lying and then got our correct order. Ticket showed chicken plate, so they made mistake. I love the Albasha's on Sherwood so I don't know why I thought this one would be any different. The food was amazing, the service was good and the restaurant was clean just as expected. Nothing bad to say. They always give you lots of food so I always have leftovers which is really nice and the staff is always really nice too. I had the Mediterranean Hummus for the first time and it was awesome! I'm definitely going to order that from now on instead of the regular Hummus I don't know why I never ordered it before but it's a must try for sure.
