On our road trip home back to Nola we stopped here for lunch. We both got the gyro sandwich and it was stuffed with meat. We got generous sides of tzatziki as well. The salad and hummus were also very good. I loved how the sandwich was more meat than pita. We ordered Togo but ate inside and the cashier took a moment to check on us during our meal which was very nice. I will definitely return here for the quality food. read more

Excellent, high quality food with generous portions and delicious flavors Friendly and kind service Totally worth the price Have been here five times in the past 6 weeks and have never been disappointed Music is a little unsettling if you aren't used to the style but probably authentic to the culture. Can always do pick up or take out but the atmosphere is sweet. read more

the food was amazing, service was spectacular, anthony was very well trained and gave good service, the music is great

Stopped by on a Monday afternoon for a quick lunch and Cafe Petra hit the spot! It was empty when we got there around 1:30pm. I ordered a gyro sandwich (it's a wrap), which comes with hummus, feta salad, pita bread and tzatziki as sides. The food was ready lightning fast. Everything tasted good. I do think they went a bit overboard with the raw purple onions in the wrap though. The to-go containers are plastic can be easily reused. There's also a drive-thru ordering option. PERK: They give you a 20% discount if you are student/healthcare worker/etc. :) My gyro wrap came out to $10.51 with the discount. read more

I visited Cafe Petra Express for the first time for takeout. It was late and near closing, but the two gentlemen who served me were friendly and knowledgeable. The restaurant is part of a chain with only 8 locations. The restaurant is small, clean and very convenient to doctor's offices and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and Baton Rouge General Hospital on Bluebonnet. There is ample outdoor seating when the weather permits. I got the chicken Shawarma and gyro salad and rice combination plate without the hummus. The gyro was equal to other Greek and Lebanese eateries, but I have had better seasoned chicken Shawarma locally, nonetheless both meats were hot and tender and along with the salad made great pita sandwiches. The rice was insipid. The menu featured other speciality items and desserts; which I look forward to trying in the future, especially for dining-in. If you are looking for a fast casual experience with friendly service in a pleasant atmosphere, Cafe Petra Express will meet your needs. read more

Our family had just arrived to Baton Rouge for thanksgiving and had no food at our hotel. We were desperate and about to pull into a gas station as almost everywhere was closed for the holiday. We stopped here seeing it was one of the few places open, but weren't expecting the food to be anything special. We were very pleasantly surprised. Most of us ordered the chicken shawarma on the recommendation of the cashier, which was solid. One person ordered the lamb gyro which was tasty as well. The spinach pie / spanakopita was perhaps our favorite: flaky, with creamy filling - very hearty and delicious. Had to order more to go! Service was kind and very attentive despite the to-go food environment. Staff made sure to check on us, bringing refills and sauce (the garlic spread was very yummy). We also ordered baclava on the way out, which the owner graciously gave to us on the house. Everyone in our group was very happy and full by the end of our meal and are even trying to plan another visit before we leave in a couple days. read more

Such a delight--more than your basic "Greek food" restaurant! Although they do have basic fare as well. We went on a non-busy Sunday night craving something filling but nutritious. The man who took our order was very nice and explained any items we asked about. We ordered the chicken Petra which I HIGHLY recommend. Cooked to order deliciously marinated chicken and a large amount of mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions sautéed in a mildly tomato, but mostly just very flavorful herbal sauce. Like a delicious Lebanese fajita? The side salad was topped with Tzatziki which was a refreshing favorite. They didn't overload everything with stinky feta which is usually my main complaint at Mediterranean restaurants. Our food came out quickly and the gentleman even came outside where we were sitting to ensure we liked the food. Totally delicious! read more

I will say if you are not happy with your food order , they will work with you. Manager contacted me after seeing my review on

Apparently I'm in the minority. It wasn't bad, but I wasn't wowed. I'm pretty sure the eggplant moussaka in my veggie plate was microwaved, meaning not cooked fresh, although in all fairness I suspect this happens at a lot of like places. The hummus was ok, as was the feta salad, falafel, and dolmas (grape leaves). It did not seem like a lot of food for the price. The service was pretty good, but it was not busy and the employees sort of seemed bored. The restaurant itself is really small and cute. Would I go back? Possibly, but not likely anytime soon given the competition. My daughter seemed pleased with her food, which is always a plus. Regardless of my opinion, it seems to be a well-liked place by the reviews and I hope the business continues to do well. read more

Cafe Petra Express - Vegetable plate with feta salad, hummus, dolmas, eggplant moussaka, and falafel. - Lebanese Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Noticed it was new and ordered via Waitr. 1) the baklava is SO good. I had to fight my husband to get the last bite. 2) Veggie platter: came with a good amount of food. I ordered the eggplant moussaka, okra moussaka, fattoush salad, falafel, and grape leaves. The okra moussaka could've been it's own meal, came in its own container. I do wish baba ghanoush was an option to choose from, you can add it separately but I didn't do that. Does not come with its own pita. 3) my husband tried both the lamb shank and the chicken schwarma sandwich. I agreed with him that both meats were a bit bland for us. Entrees come with salad, pita and hummus. I would be willing to try it again, but I think I'll stick with my veggie platter. Also let's you get a variety of options! read more

As an Albasha fan girl, this is really hard for me to say, but since I've been twice to Cafe Petra, I feel as though I can say it confidently. Their chicken shwarma MIGHT be as good if not better than Albasha. I can't believe I'm saying it, but the flavor of this shwarma is another level of good and I really enjoy it. Their gyro is good as well, still good flavor, but I think Albasha still has a slight edge there. I still love Albasha and go frequently, but when I'm in the area to run through the drive thru for Cafe Petra, it is always enjoyable! read more

I like Petra! I've been here twice--once for dine in and once for take out via door dash. The chicken schwarma is juicy and well seasoned. The gyro is fine, did not particularly stand out to me. Their hummus is really smooth and so yum. The customer service here is really nice and quick ish. The only reason I took off a star is because this place is pricey! I got an extra pita & they charge $1.50 for a single pita :( The combo gyro/chicken plate I got was like $16 without any extras. read more

Located in the Ichiban square on the corner of Perkins and Essen, Cafe Petra is a new Greek/Lebanese place offering fast casual. You order at the counter and your food is called when ready--no fuss. The young man who was at the register was really friendly and patient when we figured out what we wanted. The price was pretty average for Greek food around BR so no complaints then. Gyro and Chicken Combo Plate - typical fixings, pretty tasty albeit a little greasy Garlic Dip - really good, I'd get it again albeit a tad greasy Fried Halloumi - very solid I'd definitely come back for a fast, tasty meal. read more

Not sure how updating a review works since it doesn't show my original. First time I got two combo plates; one with fries instead of rice and the other with spanakopita instead of rice. The meats were the best we've had in the area. Updating to include my experience with the lamb shank. It came in a foil packet, like a mini pot roast. It was super tender and had good flavor. Night get it again, but will likely stick to the combo plate for most of my orders. I also purchased a 1/4lb of chicken for $5.44 after tax. I got it in case the lamb wasn't good and because my dog really likes it, too. Apparently a whole pound is around $15, so it's good that it's not $5.44*4. read more

It's all GREEK to me!!! This new Greek and Lebanese place that just opened is really good. It's not like the normal chain around town (not going to name names) Cafe Petra Express is a great place to get lunch on the go as they have a drive-thur & you can also order online. Service was great and the guy behind the register was very friendly and helped out with any questions we had. I ordered the gyro plate and it was enough to feed 2 people - The meat was tender not crispy or burnt. We also order the fried cheese sticks (no pic because we ate them too fast ) they were good with the garlic bits and the olive oil - Also the Lebanese tea was good only thing missing were the pine nuts which is a staple in my opinion. read more

I've been seeing advertisements on Facebook and at another eating establishment we frequent and we love Greek and Lebanese food. It's super clean. The decor is modern. The staff is super nice. But it's the food, that's what we came for. It was wonderful! I had Kafka and Julie had chicken Shawarma. They bring it to you in divided little trays, dishwasher and microwave safe it says. Portions are nice sized. The rice is cover with olive oil and has some peas and carrots in it. My Kafka was spot on. Down home. Spiced just right. They came out and talked with us, more than the usual how do you like it, it was kinda like eating at someone's home. We will be back and I'm sure you will too!! read more

My cousin and I tried here because we both skipped breakfast and close enough to Main Event. My cousin eats anything and everything but he still prefer Serops. We were greeted by a friendly staff. She answered all our questions before we placed our order. I had the vegetarian plate and it was kinda disappointing because I thought the portions would be bigger instead of samplers size. The presentation looked more like leftovers, something not fresh. My first time to have okra moussaka. I'm assuming everything was pre-made instead freshly made. The baba ghounash had a layer of water on top so I'm assuming it have been thawed in the fridge. Hummus was missing something... maybe lemon or tahini. Both the hummus and the baba ghounash was soupy than creamy. I finished everything, that's how small it was. Surprisingly with portion they gave, it was filling but for the price of $14.95 I should have something to bring home. After 2 hours, the food didn't sit well in my stomach. It's not worth coming back again. read more

The service was great. Especially the nice lady working the counter. The food on the other hand... I ordered Chicken Shawarma. The Petra Bites. The garlic was great but sadly the shawarma was way too salty. At first I thought it was because it was on top of a bed of fries but after brushing off the salt on the bottom of the shawarma it was still way too salty. I'm not sure what happened but it ruined the meal. I hope others don't encounter this problem and that the restaurant fixes this. Also the shawarma didn't really have pickle or anything inside. read more

Honestly not that good. Food is very plain and not much flavor. Tried to come here to have a better option than fast food. Been eating horrible during hurricane ida evacuation and just wanted something quick but better than fries. Ordered the kids chicken and rice and the rice looks like cheap fried rice and tastes like plain white rice. The chicken shawarma plate was lettuce with Parmesan, a sauce and chicken . The only perk was they have a drive thru option. Tried to use the rest room inside and it was covered in pee and I had to clean it with my two children in there. UPDATE ON THIS, my husband found a long hair in his chicken pasta after opening his food on the ride. Taking the review to a one star read more

Got the gyro and falafel plate to go for dinner. It was ready in 10 minutes which was great. The staff was very nice. The food however was okay and the portions are pretty small for the price compared to other places. The gyro, hummus, and salad was delicious. They packed the gyro, but there was barely any salad on the plate. The rice on the plates was legit bland, there was no flavor at all. The falafels were okay, nothing special. 2/5 sadly. read more

Nothing terrible. Nothing impressive. . Hummus, gyros, and shawarma were fine, but not very flavorful. Baba ganoush was so overpoweringly smoky and garlicky it was inedible for my taste. I ate the curry chicken and it was delicious!! I wasn't really crazy about the eggplant appetizer we got but it wasn't bad.

Absolutely my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge! Best food, best customer service, best atmosphere. Love love love it, always a go to!!!

Just like in their name, "Express", the food came out real fast despite ordering so much food. Service was great and the place was kept clean. Most of the food was delicious, but quite pricey. I'll definitely be ordering the spanakopita again, and I recommend trying this place's if you haven't already. The hummus could use some improvements though. Eggplant moussaka: 5/5 Spanakopita: 4.5/5 Hummus: 2/5 Tzatziki: 3/5 Pita bread: 3/5 Salad: 3/5 Gyro: 4/5 Chicken shawarma: 4/5 read more
