I finally made it back to Serop's after years. I suppose it's just not in the most convenient location in proximity to where I live. Nevertheless, I'd been seeing someone post delicious-looking dishes on social media and so I went back. The interior of the restaurant has not changed, possibly ever. This is not a bad thing, in fact, it's quite comfortable. The service was attentive and the food came out quickly. Now, for the food. I liked the salad. It's a great tangy dressing. I like good salad that isn't overly complicated. As someone who isn't a fan of tomatoes, I liked that it only had a tomato wedge and not chopped up tomatoes that I had to pick out. It was also a really good size salad. The chicken shawarma had good flavor, but it was a bit dry. The rice pilaf was standard fare. I LOVED the flavor and texture of the hummus. He suggested we meet here since it was centrally located between our offices. Located in a strip mall on Corporate, this location has ample parking and a large, well-lit dining area. Service was prompt and friendly and there was no wait to be seated at 11:00 a.m. So far this seems like a pretty standard review, right? It was a pretty standard experience until the food came. Jumping Jehosefat! This was the best chicken schwarma and gyro I had ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy which is a hard feat when making schwarma. The gyro was tender, well seasoned, and paired perfectly with the hummus. It came with a salad which was better than Albasha which is a very hard feat to accomplish. The food is always amazing. My favorite is the chicken shawarma plate with extra hummus. Its seasoned to perfection and the hummus is amazing and creamy. I always get no rice, extra hummus, but i guess yesterday was an off day for the kitchen, but thats ok. Nisrin is usually at the front counter while working the floor and has always had an amazing attitude towards the customers. I always look for her when i come in because she just makes the whole visit memorable and pleasant. Portion sizes are great as well! A year ago, I went to this Serop's for my brother's graduation lunch and it was just so good that I had to go for my own graduation lunch! I ordered the combination lunch plate with chicken shawarma and gyro and I noticed that the size of the portions were noticeably a lot bigger than my last visit. It was still as delicious as I remember it and this time we ordered a few appetizers for the table. One I highly recommend is the fried halloumi cheese!! I can't even describe how good it is. Their falafel were also pretty good as well especially dipped in their tahini. The service was just absolutely wonderful. We had a huge party of about 15 and they made sure to check on us a good bit and we're very patient with us. They also even refrigerated our cake for us in the back until we were ready to eat it. High quality European street food. Before I published this review I actually went back and got the same thing and brought friends so I could show them how much better and cost effective it was than a certain other popular greek place that starts with an A Try the lebanese iced tea! You can ONLY GET IT here or in New Orleans! Apparently it is a Baton Rouge original. There's not much to say about the place itself, which is maybe what threw me off, though it is more than fine; however, our time at Serops was much more than fine. The menu is pretty extensive, even with some Louisiana flair included, and while I stuck with a traditional Mediterranean dish (gyro), it was spot on. Nicely seasoned tender meat that was delicious. The one star down was because the sides (rice and salad) were not particularly great, and the quality of the meat seemed a bit understated. But on the whole, nothing short of solid, including the service. To top it off, the manager (I think) brought a dish of complimentary baklava for the table ... and it was delicious. Very nice atmosphere! Service was great, plentiful lunch items to choose from, and it was spacious enough to have intimate conversations (but also accommodating large groups). Our server was very nice (I should really start catching names so I can mention them) and told me that my lamb meat would be dry if I ordered it "well" so he recommended otherwise, which I very much appreciated because I like it tender!!!! Nice decor and an open kitchen so you can actually see the chefs work and prepping meals a little bit. This place is good for dining in. I was able to sit down and enjoy my meal in an hour. When I compare this place to their other store in downtown, which is complete awesomeness, it makes me sad and mad at the same time! This place smells horrible when you walk in - dated and gross, mostly always empty. The food is sad too. My chicken shawrma salad was bland, with a watery dressing , huge chunks of lettuce that I had a hard time eating and the chicken itself did not taste fresh what so ever., totally disappointed! Albasha Greek just a few minutes away is a much better option if you are feeling greek. What's more, I did not like my spinach pie either - it was hard like it had been sitting out for too long! We dined there on a Sunday afternoon so it was rather busy, but our food came out in a timely manner, plated and heated to perfection! We have been patrons of Serops on Corporate Blvd and I'm unsure why they are listed as a Greek , not Lebanese, restaurant . It's primarily a Lebanese restaurant , and most menu items feature traditional Lebanese cuisine . I've read several reviews that mentioned Greek fare, but primarily the cuisine is not what I think of as Greek. My husband orders the beef and lamb combo plate. Their chicken alamonde is always a fav with the light creamy sauce, rice pilaf and green beans. Our waiter , a guy who has been working at the Corporate location , Karen( pronounced Ki ran) always serves us promptly, and has some good suggestions when they have specials. I've enjoyed everything served here ( falafel , mousaka, stuffed cabbage etc) with the exception of their gumbo. I ordered it one time and found that it was not flavored well and was more like chicken soup. Our favorites include shrimp with dill sauce , fried shrimp, stuffed cabbage , meat mousaka and the specials . Eventhough they are not a seafood place , they have freshly breaded fried shrimp that rivals any seafood in Baton Rouge. Also, their fried eggplant is delicious. This is our go to place in Baton Rouge for good and yummy food and fast service . Their hummus deluxe is also noteworthy and is served with your choice of warm wheat or white pita bread( I've never had stale pita here... as another writer suggested) I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner... and they do have salads on the menu for weight watchers. read more

I've been eating at this restaurant and this specific location for YEARS now, over 10 yrs. They are the best Mediterranean and Greek restaurant in Baton Rouge. This specific location has a GREAT staff who will accommodate any variation you want on any of their entrees. Sammy, the owner, is SO super sweet, and a great manager/owner. He monitors his other managers very well and heavily encourages his patrons to contact him if something bad happens, so he can correct it immediately. Can't ask for a better restaurant manager than that! He even gave me his personal cell phone number. The food is top notch! The hummus, regular or deluxe or Mediterranean style, are all the best in Baton Rouge. It's buttery, slightly tangy, and super creamy, no lumps. Garnished with tasty minced parsley, with a great quality olive oil, dashes of paprika, and a couple of chickpeas. So so good! Their pita is always fresh. They must go through a ton of it so it's never stale, always soft and fresh. The Chicken Shawarma is really tasty. I recommend (my fav) the Broiled fish fillet with Creamy Dill Sauce (ooooh the dill sauce, SO SO YUMMY!), or the Flounder Terrebonne. The dishes come with sides of tender green beans sautéed in Mediterranean spices that includes fresh garlic. They also include either rice pilaf or hummus. The rice pilaf is so delicious! It looks like regular white rice with green peas in it, but it's not! It has a distinct flavor to it that's yummy. Another fav of mine is the Combo Shrimp and Fish Kabobs. The way he grills the fish fillets comes out amazing and SO tasty, and the grilled shrimp are seasoned with some sort of marinade that makes them so yummy. Excellent all around. I've tried just about every appetizer they make and they're all amazing. If you ask for just sauteed eggplant for a different side, they'll accommodate that for you. No I don't mean the Baba Ganouj. I mean just regular sauteed eggplant, sauteed in olive oil with garlic, salt, and lemon juice. It's so delicious! Chicken Scaloppini, Florentine, Marsala, Allamand, or in Creamy Dill Sauce ....are all excellent! Lobster Ravioli, excellent! Chicken Shawarma Pita Wrap...EXCELLENT! Kind of messy, but sooo yummy! Their Feta Salad that comes with each meal or you can order it by itself as an entree, is out of this world. No other restaurant I've been to (even same type of food), has a better Feta Salad than Serop's! It's their dressing, mixed with the finely crumbled feta cheese. It's creamy, tangy, salty, lip smacky, cheesy, just so good. I believe it's probably a greek yogurt based dressing with lemon juice in it, and salt and feta cheese blended smooth. Whatever ingredients he uses, it's so delicious. The Meat Mousaka Plate and the Cabbage Rolls are both super tasty as well. It really just depends on your mood as to what you choose on the menu. If you're craving great Greek food, this is your go-to spot, trust me. Between service, price, and quality of food, along with the taste (most important part!), you can't go wrong with this restaurant. Yay Mediterranean food! I love me a good gyro wrap, especially for lunch. We went for lunch on a regular weekday, and it was moderately busy. Not too too crowded but not empty either. The service was impeccably slow. There were a lot of bussers walking around but only one server? I thought that was really weird. It took a while to get our drinks, and even longer for our order to be taken, and even longer to get the check when we were ready to go. The food, however, did not take long to come out! It was good. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was good. What threw me off was that the gyro wrap wasn't in pita wrap, it was in a tortilla wrap!!! Very unusual for a gyro wrap in tortilla. I wasn't a fan. The gyro itself was delicious though. The hummus was super basic. Would I come back again on my own? Probably not. But if I was invited to eat here, I wouldn't say no. The restaurant had a big lunch crowd too. I ordered the Gyro Wrap with Hummus. The gyro was well flavored and not dry like other Greek places. The amount of hummus was kinda small but the sandwich was a pretty good size. My coworker had the Chicken Schwarma plate. No complaints there either. There was a ton of food for the price you pay. I Love Serop's! I eat there about 6 times a month! I thrive on the Mediterranian Salad With chicken. I get the chicken crunchy. It's cut from the edge. But like all Lebanese/Middle East type restaurants I ordered the same thing---schwerma and/or gyros. This visit the food was a little dry and the hummus a little thin, which is atypical from the times I have been here in the past so I assume this was an off day. Another thing to mention about this location was its menu--they provided each of us a sheet of paper which I guess is considered "off menu" items however this sheet of paper was well-used----this suggests to me that they have been offering these items for some time. Anyways, got home and started eating. Chicken shawarma was delicious as always seasoned to perfection. However i take a bite of the salad and immediately could tell something was off about it.
