Updated Review: I have since spoken with the owner to discuss my past experience and have shopped again at the store. I am pleased with how my prior situation was handled. The owner was friendly and open to hear about what had happened and what needed to be improved. He gave me the impression that customer relations are important to having a successful business and I appreciate it. Since speaking to him I have shopped at the store again. My experience this last time was wonderful. The staff was friendly and seemed to know the store layout well. I was searching for something to repair my closet and they were able to direct my quickly and efficiently. As always the store was clean and well stocked. Lost a customer today. I brought in a specialty, RFID-chipped key for a truck and asked them to cut it. The guy refused. He said, "Nope. If you didn't order it from us, we can't cut if for you." I don't know if I've ever had a bad experience at any Ace Hardware. This one is no different. It's large enough to have just about everything you need except lumber. Honestly that's my only complaint. I don't expect them to have enough lumber to build a house but a pallet of 2x4s and 2x6s wouldn't be hard to keep in stock along with some drywall, just for repairs. They greet you as you walk in, which, in and of itself a big deal, but when you're in a hurry you just ask them what aisle something is on and they'll immediately answer. "Aisle 8, middle row on the left." I've been in and out in under 3 minutes. Good place. read more

I was in this morning at 7:15am 2 return a toilet seat I bought yesterday. I got the wrong one go figure ? I requested some help and as I was the ONLY customer in the store at the time I thought this would be no problem . Boy was I wrong !!!!! I was "HELPED" by the "MANAGER" ED ..... As a disabled person every step saved helps my day ..... Ed was unable locate the product and I had 2 go back and show him what I was talking about. I explained my dilemma but 2no avail !!!! For ease of installation I wanted a certain attachment system that was on the current seat bought from this store late last year. This would ease my installation process greatly !!!! He was clearly uninterested in assisting me get the right product and excused himself to leave me 2my own accord ..... After searching thru the seats I managed 2find the appropriate one that would clip in2 the current attachment points with out further work required on my part. I attempted 2speak with ED but he was clearly uninterested and just 2busy 2help this customer !!!!! The check out clerk was very nice and treated me with respect even thou I was now clearly disheveled !!!! I told ED as I was leaving I had been a 17 year customer of this ACE store location as I try 2do my business LOCAL not at the Big Box Stores !!!! He didn't even have the good sense to listen much less acknowledge me or even my look my way from his manager location in the front of the store only 20 feet away !!!! If I could give a negative star I would. I dropped my chainsaw off, waited over three weeks, never heard from them so I called only to be told they still had not worked on it. They called me the following week only to be told (after waiting 3 weeks) that they do not and will not get the parts for my saw. I picked it up today only to be handed a bag of parts to my once intact chainsaw. "If you want to wait around even longer, we will put it back together for you. have never experienced such crappy service and would advise going else where for any small engine repair. A complete and utter joke. Thanks for absolutely nothing except a frigging headache. I will follow up on this review that the next day I was contacted by the store manager and he addressed the situation in a very professional manner. He offered to make it right no matter what. Drive to CDA or spend 2-3x the cash on most items. They know what you need and usually have it... they seem to know they have you over the barrel with a 45 min round trip to CDA or Spokane as well. $14 for 50 9in cable ties really? The tool section was full of great tools but they must have been made of silver and copper way more than I am willing to spend. Up shot chainsaw shop and great soda selection. Bottom line just make the drive unless you are desperate. read more

I try always to use ace hardware first ! So I have been to quite a few in the last 20 years mostly Wasington and Idaho and for good reason they are normally very polite and helpful. Today's visit to Post Falls Store will definitely be my last time ,they have never really been well organized I don't know what it is they seem to have lots of folks smiling and looking lost ? last time we had a elderly woman training a young man and together they over charged me for the length of chain ? Ok,back in.and they are upset with me ? bringing it to another employee to have fixed ? who did so with no apology? Ok what ever ?today drop off my propane tank ask to have filled while I shop .stand in line ... no propane ? There sits my tank empty while their new manger who needs training as well worsened the situation seem the young man who fills tanks listen to anyone ? $3 dollars later and 25 minutes of sorry he's a good worker ? My experience with other stores is different ? maybe take the propane it's on us? Sorry we are so lame? but no this is post falls ? Two attempts at calling the store proved futile. The Stihl clerk was not answering the transfer. Giving him the benefit of doubt, I drove to the store and found it unusually unbusy. The clerk at the hardware area was idle. When asked about pressure washers he stated they only have the big ones. I asked about the RE 90 model he said "oh, the small one" and was told none of the stores had any. I mentioned that the web page indicated ordering online could be picked up at the store. He responded with "not if we don't have any, you can't " . Previous trips to this counter have been positive but this individual has caused my business to be taken elsewhere. read more

I've been shopping at Ace Hardware since it was established. Mainly because of convenience. To be quite honest their customer service has rarely been great. A lot of the employees seem to be in inconvenienced by the customer, almost if they've been trained this attitude, as it has been this way for years (or maybe it's just trickle down). I.E. If an employee is irritated because they have to type in someone's rewards number they ought not allow that to come a cross in their voice, actions or mannerisms. And as a customer i would prefer to be asked "Is there anything i can help you with or find?" What they do ask is "WHAT can i help you find?" The latter is awkward when you know what you need and where it's at. The former is an easy "no thank you" if you don't need their help. Do you really want to make your customers feel awkward? But that's just my opinion and how i feel every time i walk through the door. The lines are always long especially relative to the amount of employees around every corner asking me "What can i help you find"! read more

Superior service and an example for others. The staff is great with problem solving, and they even laugh at your jokes. I love the ability to buy one bolt, or a cotter pin, or three screws, instead of having to buy a dozen. Some things are noticeably higher-priced than other places, but usually not enough to bother with trekking out to the big-box store and getting treated like cattle, if you get treated at all! I bought a couple hoses there over the summer which were priced roughly the same as the bloat-mart, I got help from people who really know their stuff, and I don't have to walk a half-mile to get what I need. I've been shopping here on and off for about 6 months. They are a pretty standard Ace Hardware, but with a better than average customer survive. Most hardware stores will help if you ask but these guys actually greet you at the door and ask if they can help. Top notch in my book. read more

I took my snow blower to the Ace small engine repair shop. They said it would be ready in 5 days. After 5 days they said they were waiting for a part. I asked for them to follow up to see if the part had been sent. They would not follow up. I called two part places within 15 minutes of the store and both places had the part! When they finally did "repair" the snow blower it had an engine problem that it did not go into the repair shop with. They were very rude and said my repair would have to be scheduled at the "end of the line." They said they noticed the engine problem but did not call me because I did not say there was an engine problem when I brought the machine in. The employee was very rude and the manager was right there listening to the rudeness and did not fire him on the spot which is what should have occurred. Never take a repair to Ace in Post Falls!! It is a really bad, frustrating experience. After this experience I will never shop there again. read more
