I am in the process of a kitchen remodel and have been looking for cabinet hardware. I went to Home Depot, Lowes, etc. They just didn't have the quality nor the selection that I needed. Kim at Northwest Hardware Supply was fantastic, working with us on our hardware selection and budget. It is my understanding that they are now under new management for the last year or so. Allyson has taken over the business, and she has been fantastic to work with! Seriously, if the prior reviews have kept you out of the store, it's time to give it another look. Yesterday I went into Northwest Hardware for the second time. I previously visited a month earlier to look for some knobs and pulls for a home in the process of being built by a local builder. I had ordered the majority of items through a Spokane store that works with my builder, but I wanted to purchase some items from NW. I was going to pay direct, and pick them up myself. When the owner found out who my builder is, he turned rude and didn't seem to want to sell to me. After explaining to him that this was between him and I, and my builder was not involved, he agreed to get me pricing on 4 items. A month later, I had never received a response from him, but I went in to order several knobs and pulls from him. I showed the owner a picture on my phone of a knob I wanted him to order for me. He immediately became angry because the picture was on a online knob store website. I explained to him that I Googled the knob, and that was simply the picture that came up. He then reverted back to how he's had issues with clients of my builder, and how he works with all the local builders but mine. I than explained that I came in to purchase some items from him, but if he didn't want my business I would be happy to go elsewhere. He said he wasn't comfortable selling to me, and he turned around and walked away. I walked out the door with a loud "wow! That was bizarre". I guess if you don't purchase EVERYTHING from this guy, he just doesn't want to waste time on you. And don't EVER bring up looking online to him! This was truly the worst customer treatment I have ever received! I believe in shopping local, but you will be much better off if you go somewhere else for your hardware needs. read more

I am new in the area, having just finished building a home in Hayden late last year. I always like to shop at locally owned businesses. I spotted this hardware store while driving down Government and thought I'd check it out. I need a variety of different things to finish my home, especially my kitchen. I won't go into great detail but I have never felt so unwelcome in a place of business as I did as soon as I walked into this place. The guy roaming around the store--who I assumed was the owner--seethed hostility. I was greeted with a "Whaddya want?" to which I responded, "I'm just browsing right now but a lot of things," as pleasantly as I could. He sneered. Anyway, not worth going into all the little things that continued after that. This guy has a big chip on his shoulder apparently. I decided not to stick around long. I'll tell you, I will never go back. The big-box stores are starting to look better and better. How does this guy stay in business? Maybe he really doesn't want to? read more

We wanted to buy hardware for 3 bathrooms but they were closed , due to COVID, which is understandable. When I called to ask him if we could make an appointment, like the sign says to do, we were told us there is a charge to look. I told him we were 100 percent sure we were going to buy high quality hardware that day. I reminded him we ordered all our hardware for our kitchen and all our doors through him. He told me to go Lowe's. When I told him I was looking for quality and interested in giving a local my money. He said other people were paying the fee. I told him I wasn't interested in paying a fee for spending money. Time to retire Dave. Sell it to someone who is interested in serving the community. read more

Well, I don't where to start. So, if you go to this store he won't let you in. You must pass an interview prior of entering. Then, you must be rich in order to buy his hardware and you better have a contractor otherwise you won't see anything. I don't know what happens after you enter the store. I did not get that far. So, my money and my time is too valuable to spend it and give it to a man with all these requirements. I am very curious to know how in the world he is still in business..... Apparently the owner is some kind of weirdo tyrant. I walked in there upon recommendation from Home Depot for kitchen hardware. When I went in, I was approached in the strangest way...basically interrogating me as to why I'm there. I said I wanted kitchen hardware. I was questioned as to who my home builder is. I already have a completed home. Can't someone just buy hardware to put on cabinets? What difference does that make? Then I was told you have to have an appointment, but since I was there I could look around. So I did. Then I asked to make an appointment, and he basically said "nah, I'm not going to do that". How does this nut job stay in business? People, do not waste your time or money on this place. I've never had such a unprofessional store experience in my life. I'm just glad my husband wasn't with me, if you know what I mean. read more

Worst, worst, worst customer service. If you don't know much about hinges, don't expect any help from "the tall guy" (NOT Mark). The only thing he is good at is making you realize you don't know anything about hinges - and that you are basically wasting his time. I might not be a builder or a general who needs hundreds of different items from this place, but I have several friends who are. I'd sooner send my worst enemy to this place than send a friend. Go to the box stores. Better customer service there by far. read more

My husband and I stopped by this business today to try to select cup handles and knobs for our new kitchen cabinets which are in the process of being built by a local cabinet builder. The open sign was on but the doors were locked. As we stood by the front door trying to figure out why the sign was on but the doors were locked, a man came around from the side and asked what we wanted. We said we are in the process of selecting hardware for our cabinets. He asked who was building them, we told him and he had a weird look on his face. Then he asked if the cabinets were installed already. We said no but want to pick out the hardware. Then he said, "you don't know what you want or how many you need." We said we did know how many we need but he again hesitated too long without a reply so I said to my husband, "Let's go, obviously he does not want to sell to us." I am disappointed because through the window it looked like he has an amazing selection, however I have to agree with the other comments that the customer service is the worst we've ever experienced in our 60+ and 70+ years. This man had told us he was the owner. Wow, unbelievable! We have selected and purchased nearly every item needed for our kitchen remodel except for our cup handles and knobs which will cost several hundred dollars. No doubt the cost at this store would have been higher then at a box store but we like supporting small local businesses and are willing to pay the extra. Unfortunately this business apparently has a select clientele, and for whatever reason, we are not one of them. read more

I stopped by Northwest Hardware in Dalton Gardens to see if I could buy some floor guides for my barn doors that I installed in my house. When I asked Dave the owner about them, he said "I have them but I usually don't sell them by themselves". Then he asked if I purchased my installed hardware from him and I explained I found them online. I then tried to explain that the door guide that was included in the kit required me to rabbit the bottom of the doors and since the doors were 1908 vintage from a local hotel, I preferred not to do that. Dave then became agitated, asking why I didn't come to him for the hardware in the first place. I then said "Dave, I'm not here to cause an argument about this". He then said "I'm not going to sell them to you" and then he walked away and into one of his offices! I exclaimed "Wow"!!! And walked out of his store I was willing to spend upwards of $50 each for the guides because u was impressed with what he had in his showroom but now will never return and will spread the word as far as I can. I believe in quality and in customer service. No, the customer is not always right but no one deserves to be basically ran out because they didn't buy everything from the establishment. read more
