We went in on a Saturday night. They had a small wait, even before 6pm. The place was recently redone and it's pretty big now. A pleasant surprise, they have happy hour every day from 3-7. Beer and wine specials along with half price apps. Needless to say we ate way too much after ordering a couple of apps before dinner. Two couples, two appetizers (mozzarella sticks are HUGE) and two medium pizzas along with soup and an order of pasta and a couple of beers. Everything was fresh. Speaking of fresh, order the bread!!! Huge delicious garlic rolls. We took half a pizza home along with some pasta, a mozzarella stick (huge) and a garlic roll. Can you say breakfast??? We'll be back....soon and often! Went on recommendation of grandson who has lived in Midlothian most of his life. Went here years ago while he was student at VT. This time was with daughter and her boyfriend. Such diverse orders from four folks; burger, eggplant parmigiana, white pizza, and Buffalo wings (spicy). Everyone praised their meal. Tasty, adequate serving size and good service. We ordered a burger and some pizzas. The pizzas were fine. The burger was the "Farmhouse Burger." I had to send it back. It was severely overcooked, flavorless, missing the bacon, and very sloppily thrown together. The waiter (who seemed to hide in the kitchen 90% of the time, making it so I had to get my own napkins, menus, utensils, ketchup, bill, etc.) did not remove the hamburger from my bill, even though I had only taken two small bites out of it. Where have you been all my south side life? My husband and I have been fighting for years of the best place to get pizza. Finally! We found a place we both agree on is DELICIOUS! We've only had take out, but it's been amazing. The crust is thin and crispy, but not so thing you feel like you're eating a cracker. The sauce and cheese ratio is just spot on and there's such a good authentic flavor. It put some of my Jersey haunts to the test! If it weren't for a friend's recommendation, I'd have never thought to try it, but I'm so glad I did! While I haven't dined in, it's ALWAYS busy no matter what day of the week I've picked up the pizza. And it's usually around 6pm when I'm picking up too! So glad we found Sergio's and we can put our pizza war to an end. read more

Alright, first off this place is really not easy to find. I lived here for years before I even realized there was a shopping center there. If you're coming on 360 (Hull) West, after you go under 288, take a right at the next light and then an immediate right into the shopping center. Now about the place, nothing special inside at all. Fairly generic Italian restaurant decor. Staff has always been really friendly for us and never had any issues with speed or wait staff at all. Pizza is decent, nothing that blew me away but reasonable and the both the kids and I are happy to eat it. Pastas are decent as well, garlic rolls are pretty good and never had any complaints. Cheesesteaks, fries, onion rings, etc... all pretty good as well. I'm originally from around the philly area, so this is an OK cheesesteak for this area. :) So now you are sitting there wondering why the hell I'm giving it 4 stars when I just told you that everything was decent and reasonable. Normally that would rank it as 3 stars in my book and some place that I would occasionally go to if I was in the area and hungry. Their mozzarella cheese sticks. They are ridiculously good. This place is one of the few places around that makes these in-house. Making mozzarella sticks is basically zero effort, but for some reason everyone buys them pre-made and fries them up. Why? I have no clue. Sergios makes these, and they are about 10x better than pre-made frozen mozzarella sticks. They are huge, and they are delicious. Wow, Great Italian food can not be beat! Sergio's was recommended to me by a co-worker. I work on the west end and always comment that the west end vs. the Southside always seems to have better "mom & pop" type restaurants. You know family owned places with family secret recipes that you can't get anywhere else. I live on the Southside and my husband and I were desperate for a really good, low key Italian place near our home. Sergio's you are wonderful. Bruschetta to die for, chicken piccatta with artichokes- "YUM" and one of the best wedge salads on the planet. They have a linguini with clam sauce that is chocked full of more clams than you can possibly imagine and a spicy touch that leaves you craving more. (For those who want to try - for reference I am talking about the one in a red sauce) My next visit I plan to sample their muscles appetizer. A table near us ordered them last time and the looked very good. I had no idea they existed. Hidden away in an older shopping center it was like finding a $20 bill in an old pair of jeans. Way to go Sergio's! I've been trying to find some good pizza for the past few years after moving to the RIC area. As crazy as it sounds there are multiple places back home in Little Rock, Arkansas that no pizza in RIC could touch (Oh how we miss Shotgun Dan's and US Pizza). I know, right? LR-AR the Pizza Mecca... But I digress and will grieve somewhere else. Anyway, Sergios may not be as good as back home, but it's the best I've found here. This review pertains to the beer bar at Sergio's. I've never eaten here, but I have enjoyed many tasty beers at the bar. It's a comfortable space with multiple TV's for game watching, but the highlight is the sheer selection of brews available: there are 25 beers on tap, and about half of them are local (Virginia breweries). A couple of those taps are always dedicated to ciders/meads for patrons who don't like beer or just want something different. Every beer I've been served at Sergio's has been poured correctly at the proper temperature. They rotate the kegs pretty frequently so the beer is fresh and there are always plenty of new options to try. If you're indecisive or just want to try something before buying a whole glass, the bartenders are happy to provide complimentary tastes. This is a great spot for beer lovers. One day I'll get around to eating here too -- maybe. The Italian food leaving the kitchen always looks and smells fantastic. Given the choice though, I'll usually opt for another beer instead. read more

Have been wanting to try for a while. Decided to stop in on a Friday night at around 7. Had guests from out of town with me, so we wanted to be seated quickly. Now the place was packed so we expected to wait and at the door they said 1/2 hr minimum wait. We almost left but then 5 min later we were seated. The rest of the service that followed was similar, although they were very busy we hardly had to wait for anything. The service was great. Came for the beer. Won't be back. Place was packed when we went, 30 minute wait. We had mussels for an appetizer, they were nothing special and not a big portion. I had the "Rigatoni Joey C". It was supposed to be rigatoni cooked al dente, sautéed with chicken, sausage, and mushrooms in a Marsala wine sauce. It tasted way more like buttered noodles with cheap sausage. My brother got a white pizza, which was the biggest disappointment of all. Toppings were not bad but the crust was absolutely horrible. Says it is supposed to be NY style hand tossed. More like microwaveable $1 special at Kroger. Would have given it one star but service was good and had a good beer list but that will not be enough to bring me back. read more

After calling 6 times to order pizza to go, I drove to the restaurant to order and wait where I was notified that you only have one working phone line. We wanted a pizza to go & app while we waited. The server we could not do this without separate orders, so ordered all to go-cheese sticks were cold & we still had to wait on the pizza. Had a rare pizza craving today and thought I'd check out this local joint. Its very clean and much prettier inside than I had anticipated--the shopping center it's located in is a little old and rundown. The pizza I had was very good ( though I like a little zestier sauce, but that's because I'm a bit of a salt-addict). I'll definitely come here again when I crave a beer with my pie! read more

So we heard from a waiter at another restaurant (funny, right?) about this place and their awesome happy hour and decent on tap selection. We aren't huge beer fans but have been trying some more frequently in the past few months so we figured we would grab dinner and check this spot out. It was a Friday night and the bar was packed!! 40s crowd but chill vibes and the bartender was rockin it. I had a Gose I fell in love with! We waited for about 15-20 minutes for our table and hung by the bar during this time. First impression when we sat-its a totally different vibe, but as one could expect, going from a lively bar with tvs to a casual family dining room. We had the mussels to start and they were great (but shouldve come served w bread!). The entrees come with salad and a side, pretty good deal. The salad was fresh. For my entree I had the Stuffed Shells Florentine. In hindsight I would have ordered something else.... It wasn't bad, it was good, but its stuffed shells... It's cheese inside some shells. Next time I'd like to try the Seafood Alfredo or Greek Spaghetti. Service was good for how busy they were... We will be back! read more

Best place to go for a beer by me. They have a long draft list of both local and national brews that rotates as the kegs come and go. I'm able to bring my pregnant wife along because she can munch on some of their delicious home made mozerella sticks while I'm tasting whats new on the draft list, before our pizza comes out. (Did I mention they have amazing pizza?) Something for everyone. Great beers for the craft beer lover. Great pizza for the family dining experience. They also have a full Italian menu and a specials menu of some contemporary non-Italian food that I have yet to try - its just hard to turn down the pizza once I'm there. We went here for the first time today. The space is very nice and updated and all of the staff was extremely friendly. We went pretty early just because I heard the do getting a pretty big crowd in the evenings. We ordered a traditional NY pizza as well as a Grandma's deep dish both were delicious. We also got the steak and cheese hoagie, lobster and crab ravioli, with the chicken tenders, bruschetta, and Mediterranean mussels from the appetizer menu. The steak and cheese was pretty much your basic sandwich, the chicken tenders were fresh and delicious and were served in the cutest little mini deep fryer basket. The bruschetta was refreshing and surprisingly sweet but the star was definitely the mussels. They were truly a stand out and came with garlic bread to soak up the buttery soup they were in. Some of the beers they had on the menu weren't available, but that may have just been an isolated situation. Overall, I would definitely come back! read more

I found this particular restaurant to be a 2 for 1. Two, meaning the nice atmosphere and overtly nice staff and one meaning the sub par food. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and the moment it touched the table it looked like a piece of wood shrouded in sauce served on a pristine white plate. The positives: MOZZ STICKS! Seriously, despite my abysmal rating I'd come back for the mozzarella sticks alone. They're huge, delicious, and priced the same as any other restaurant, if not less. However, they're exponentially better than anywhere else you'd get mozz sticks from. Seriously, you could make a meal out of them alone. The pizza. Fresh vegetables, and otherwise great pizza. Looking forward to my leftover lunch tomorrow. Beer. Lots of decent local stuff on tap. They even had some of the best beer in Virginia - Champion out of Charlottesville - available. The negatives: The bartender is a dick. Maybe he was having a bad night, but he was cranky with the servers, cranky with the customers, and just generally cranky. He looked at me several times (and even rolled his head in disgust once) before he finally - after about 20 minutes - took my drink order. This seems to be pretty well known at Sergio's. I told the cashier this, who responded by smiling at her co-workers. The on-draft beer menu doesn't have a complete pricing list. What I gathered was that they neglect to put the price of the higher priced items on the menu. I tried something new, and it cost me a lot more than I was expecting. I should have just stuck to what I knew - especially because the menu disclosed the price of that beer. The bill. Like IHOP and Waffle House, you take your ticket up to the counter to pay. Not a big deal, unless the server doesn't tell you this and you're sitting around wondering why no one is taking your card. Also strange is that some servers do take it and others don't. read more

Our group has been coming to this restaurant for the past three years when in town. Tonight they wouldn't serve our group. We even called three days ahead of time to let them know when we would be coming. We even offered to split up and they still wouldn't serve us!
