My nephew wanted wings and our first choice was WAY too busy, so I went to yelp looking for a new option and came across 101 Crafthouse. I appreciated the seat yourself option. it was about 6pm ish on Thursday, they weren't very busy. The restaurant is clean and wasn't too loud. Service wasn't bad. Our server was friendly, though I think we lost her interest when we didn't order beer. I did ultimately order a hard cider that she then forgot about. I finally got her attention to remind her about it and she apologized and went about bringing it. Food overview: 1. Pickle chips - I LOVE pickle chips. These were just ok. The sliced pickles were so thin you could barely tell they were there. The breading would've been great if there were big enough pickles to feel and taste them. 2. Wings - these met expectations for my nephew. They weren't bad. Cooked well. The BBQ sauce was ok. Nephew liked the honey mustard and old bay wings. 3. Salad - good size salad with good amount of toppings. The dressing wasn't bad (balsamic vinaigrette). 4. Buffalo Chicken Wrap - hubs said it was fine. It didn't knock his socks off and he said he would try the fish and chips if we go back. We saw someone else's order and it looked pretty good. They do sidewinder fries. Not my favorite but they were fine. Overall, this is a place I might go if I was with friends and they are beer drinkers, or I'm looking for a place to chill for a bit with them. Let me start off by saying... I'm giving 4 stars because service was good. The food is about 2 stars. This was our first time visiting and I asked the waitress what was good? She basically said everything. All the apps. Said she liked the chicken sandwich. Well, it's national pizza day so why not try the pizza. First - we started with mozzarella sticks. This is a mistake that some restaurants make... sonic is famous for it... they fry things together that don't need to be fried. The mozzarella sticks were sweet. Like a funnel cake. You could smell it immediately. Now I don't know if they used some weird batter or they fry their funnel cake fries with the same grease but... pass on those. (Or anything fried really) Also got the loaded sidewinder fries. Guess what? Those had a sweet taste too. The pizza is very average. Not bad, not great. Just average. I really wanted to go back for a trivia night but based on my experience with the food, I may have to skip. Decided to grab lunch here. Typical bar ambiance, clean, indoor and outdoor seating, high tables near the bar and lots of tv's if you're interested in a game of some sorts. They offer a wide variety of craft beers and I decided on a strawberry cider by Downeast Cider House. It was so good, I actually prefer this over a Bold Rock any day. I ordered wings, old bay and buffalo (both were delicious), but the blue cheese isn't 'blueing' (didn't really taste blue cheese), mozzarella sticks (just ok) and an order of fries (OMG...loved them; well seasoned). This is our go to stop before heading down the street to AMC. We've been coming since it was Growler USA, and I have to say it's been so much better since the change. I'm a cider drinker and I love the many options they have. Top fav so far is the strawberry Downeast Cider. My friend liked the Fireside which has a cinnamon kick to it. Virtually anyone could find a drink here. The service is wonderful. The servers are all very nice and friendly. They give great recommendations. For food, most everything we've had has been great! From burgers to pizza. Everything seems freshly prepared! My friend and I have become partial to grabbing side salads and splitting a calzone. Perfect dinner, and the garlic butter on the calzone is *chefs kiss* They also have great desserts. I was so excited to see funnel cake fries, and they were tasty! Also loved the beignets. The atmosphere is casual. Plenty of screens to entertain ya and not too loud that you can still have a convo. I also appreciate there's plenty of seating and you don't feel cramped. Stopped by here awhile back with a buddy of mine to catch up over some beer and good food. Unfortunately, it was only the beer part that was good. The amount of beers they have on tap is incredible and tastes amazing but the food on the other hand is severely lacking. We ordered nachos with chicken and the chicken that was put on top was similar to canned chicken and then ordered a pizza which was okay but nothing special. If this place improved on their food wood and iron would have some serious competition. Overall not a bad experience but the food needs some work. I've been wanting to come here for a while and finally had a mom night with a friend. We split the Mozzerella sticks and loaded fries which were hitting the spot. Shared the margarita pizza too. The food was great and so was our server. I enjoyed a Triple Jame and the Squared Pants pineapple guava sour. My friend said her husband usually gets a growler of the Squared Pants and I see why! Fantastic prices and a great variety of foods on the menu, not to mention a huge selection of beers of all types, from ales and IPAs to sours and ciders, as well as wine and cocktails. However, I do not think it is alright for a customer to come in and set at the bar, with people all around, and watch a basketball game on their phone with the speaker phone turned up. There are many basketball games on In the bar, but none with volume. When asked to please turn down the volume, he refused and was aided by one of the bar tenders who told my daughter that it is what their regular customers do. How rude can one get. Stopped by 101 Crafthouse today on a whim and was immediately mad at myself for not having stopped in before. They have at least 50+ craft beers/ciders on tap and a few taps with wine. I had the BLT, not crazy complicated but delicious. Whatever garlic aioli they put on it rocked. I like that they fill up both sizes of to-go growlers, 32 ounces and 64 ounces. The employees rocked as well. With all those options I obviously had to try a few and I'm not sure whether he was the owner or the manager but the guy behind the bar could explain and detail each brewery and beer that I asked about. WOW! My only regret is that I didn't write this review sooner, because you all NEED to hear about this. I went to 101's Drag Bingo night last Saturday night. I had such a fantastic time. I didn't even know drag bingo was a thing, much less in southside!! I have been to 101 before on a Saturday night (it's been a few months) and the service was lackluster. But last Saturday....WHEW! Obviously all hands on deck. We had Harrison, who was STELLAR! I am assuming they were short staffed, as I only saw 3 servers on the floor, but you'd never be able to tell! Harrison was kind, attentive, knowledgeable, and FAST! I am a big drinker and my beer was never empty. The food was amazing. Pretzels and beer cheese are an absolute win. I saw another table get some wings, which looked amazing and I will absolutely try next time. And the entertainment?! HOLY COW. These entertainers are top notch. Michelle was HILARIOUS. Very witty, beautiful attention to detail, and super friendly. This was my first drag bingo and I didn't know what to expect, but she NAILED IT! Her sense of humor was great. Javon Love was the other entertainer with her, and was equally as brilliant. Not only did they play several rounds of bingo, but we also got several performances!! SO AMAZING! I let the waitress know that I only had less than an hour to spare. I got the buffalo wings and a tall IPA. It came out quick so my waitress was on it! Really nice too. So the service wasn't bad (definitely wasn't great by any means) i had to grab our own high chair for our son. They were training someone who was all kinds of awkward, was kind but no server etiquette whatsoever (serve customers from the right and don't cross over someones face while serving someone else at the table. So we ordered the bruschetta, pizza and wings as well as the tenders and totts for the kids. Bread from bruschetta was burnt to all ends and they served what's supposed to go on top of the bread in a bowl without a spoon. We struggled to be able to get it on the bread. The tenders were overcooked and chicken was rough, tater tots were probably left in fryer for 3 minutes too long. The wings were spicy buffalo, it tasted like sweet peppers and a very bland buffalo sauce. The pizza was probably the worst of all. It honestly felt like i was eating old toppings heated up on cardboard. Oh and its like an lgbtq bar of which i don't care about but im sure some people would probably like to know before going.
