This place has really taken a turn in the past couple of months. My brother and I went there yesterday for lunch. We have been a few times before (it's been about 6 months since our last visit), and they were better than yesterday's experience.
6 months ago, you would walk in and see the bar totally full. They did (and still do) have a great beer selection. But yesterday, it was like a ghost town. There were 3 people in there besides us during our visit. The food was nothing to write home about. I got the round-up burger, which was recommended to me by our server, Kristin J, (who was ABSOLUTELY fantastic by the way) and my brother got a pepperoni pizza, which didn't taste all that bad, but it just had poor presentation. It was totally misshapen (I know hand tossed is tricky and I don't expect it to be a perfect circle, but I also don't expect it to look like a truck hit it.) 6 months ago, the pizzas we ordered were GORGEOUS, and the food was consistent. Now the food is just...different. And the round-up burger? It was good, but I don't understand what was so special about it? The onion ring was super small, and it's just cheddar cheese, ONE measly onion ring, and a dribble of BBQ sauce. The plate definitely lacked color. If it's supposed to be a specialty burger, stack that baby up! Add some veggies and bacon to it or something.
Food leaves much room for improvement. There is a fairly big window allowing you to see in to the kitchen where the cooking line is. A personal pet peeve of mine is seeing cooks with their AirPods in. It was a young man with glasses (he couldn't have been more than 18) cooking with his AirPods in. I HATE that. It's so unprofessional looking, and honestly, a health hazard too. What if it falls out of his ear somewhere in the prep line, or even on the food he's plating? I can only assume he was the one who made our food. In the back it appeared to be just one other person, guessing a manager. She was tall also with glasses, and wore a black 101 Crafthouse tank top. A tank top? Ew. Not in the kitchen. Exposed arm pits in a kitchen is a hard pass for me. I know it's hot, but give them some fans or something.
The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 3 is because of Kristin. This was the first time we have had her and she was by far the best server we have had since we have been coming here. She was so nice, so knowledgeable, very quick, and watched our drinks to make sure they were never empty. She said she works on Sundays so we will try to come back some time this month to give it one last shot. read more
