We went to Sergio's on a trip we took to Miami for a cruise. We wanted to try some Cuban food for lunch and found this place on Yelp and it was near out hotel. We were disappointed to learn they did not have Mojitos, but they did have several kinds of Sangria. I got the traditional red. It came in a mason jar and was not overly sweet. Just the way I like it. We ordered the Cuban appetizer plate and a Cuban Sandwich. Service was a bit slow and I was not able to get a second drink after I finished my first one half way through our meal. The croquetas and empanadas were good and so was the Cuban sandwich. The bread was fresh, lots of pickles and a nice amount of mustard on the sandwich. The empanadas were stuffed full of meat and had a flaky crust. The Croquetas were a bit over garlic-ed for our taste. Nothing really knocked out socks off. Maybe our expectations were too high after reading all the great reviews for this place or maybe we didn't order the right items. If we found ourselves staying near this place again, we would give it another shot. read more

After my horrible experience the first time, I was completely turned off by this restaurant. Then the owner reached out to me & sincerely apologized for our experience. He said that the management will make appropriate adjustments. He invited me to return & sent me a $50 gift card to make it up to me. I returned unannounced last month. We were back in Miami from NYC and I wanted to give this another try. We were greeted & seated promptly. This time around we were seated in the english speaking section. Glad to see this improvement from the management & staff. Our waitress this time spoke english well & was very friendly. She even gave her favorites & recommendations when we asked her. I think her name was Haytti, fantastic service & deserves 5 stars! We got complimentary cuban bread which was toasty on the outside & butter soft on the inside with cheese toppings, heavenly! We did not get this on our first visit. So if you don't get this, you're missing out. Ask for it, its complimentary. We ordered the "Trio" for appetizer: 3 tostones with avocado & tomatoes. One with shreded pork, one with ground beef & one with shrimp. This was highly recommended by our waitress and they did not disappoint. Delicious! Must try! There were 4 of us. We had Lechon Asado, Steaks, Chicken & Grilled tilapia. I had the grilled tilapia which was fantastic, super fresh & cooked perfectly! Everyone was very happy with their dish. We each ordered 2 side dishes, I had plantains (Must try! perfectly ripe & fried!) & vegetables (very fresh). We also ordered Guanabana brownie with vanilla ice cream, again highly recommended by our waitress and it was DELISH! I'm glad I gave this a second chance and I kept an open mind. Happy to see major improvements from the quality of their service & staffs. Everyone deserves a second chance. We spent over $100 + tip for the 4 of us, well worth it for the amount & quality of the food. Plus the service this time is 100X better! Way to go... read more

We were looking for a good Cuban sandwich, and a friend recommended this place. The sandwich was dry, the bread was hard, it barely had pork and they forgot to put it on the press so it felt like they rushed it and was half way done. I hope they can work with their cooks to make sure the improve the quality of the food that comes out. read more

Came here first thing after a overnight flight into Miami and it was spectacular. Visiting from California and wanted some "Miami style" breakfast. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Lots of food and fairly inexpensive for the quantity and quality. Food was delicious with my favorite being the "Bistec Al Caballo" and the Cuban style toast. Tiny bit of a language barrier but overall a great experience. read more

Service was extremely slow. Once you get helped they're very nice though, but did have ask twice for our waiter. Food was ok. Tried the French toast crunch pancakes and was disappointed-- literally two small regular pancakes with French toast cereal sprinkled on top. Watermelon juice wasn't all that good either. Overall ok/avg food, slow service... prices aren't bad though. Also tried the steak with eggs and it was ok. read more

Food was pretty good, I liked the feel of the place more than anything. Will definitely be going back when I'm in town.

We order from Sergio's quite often. But the last few times they always seem to "forget" part of my order. Today they brought me the white rice with no beans. When I called to complain, I was told that I would be given credit. This famous credit is never there when one calls to make another order. This was the last straw. I had them bring me the beans 25 minutes later. On another note, the mariquitas I ordered where burnt and the mojo (sauce) that came with it was pure oil. It was gross. I am super upset. It ruined our dinner. I'll never order from them again. Of ordering delivery...buyer beware. You will not get ur full order. read more

Great place if you're in the mood for some Cuban food! I got una milanesa de carne with arroz moro and fries! My girlfriend really enjoyed the picadillo flatbread, it came with Rice, beans, maduros, picadillo, and a fried egg on top! The food was great and their service too. Be aware that the milanesa can be shared between two people, unless you are a big eater like me. I forgot to mention, their ham croquetas are LIFE read more

Our capoeira school hosted a dinner for our out of town guests last Friday and it was a success!!! I reserved a table in advance for a group of 25 (close to 30 showed up), we had two waitresses taking care of us (Made and Katia) and I must say that for such a large group they did very well -- attentive and nice! A big thank you to Sergio's and the staff for your service that evening. It was impeccable and the food was very good! read more

Great service, food came fast and it was delicious, love it. We ordered dejnks and they were on point.

Well, free parking is great. Especially in Miami. Food is very good but you are at a real disadvantage if you don't speak Spanish. We arrived just after lunch time on a Saturday. I needed the restroom when we were seated and asked the hostess where the men's restroom was located, I got the "deer in the headlight look" as she didn't speak my language. Service was slow for our table of two. I know a little Spanish and picked up that the wait staff knew we were gringos. I also noticed Latino customers were served before us. Server never came by to check on us until all the plates were removed by the kitchen staff. read more

Very disappointed. Once this was a good restaurant, now I know I'm not coming back. I craved for a Pan con Bistec and it resulted lame, no flavors at all, dry meat, burned pieces and a gift... please tell me what this blacken, burned piece is!? read more

Sit in services is horrible. Ordered a salad, with no option on salad dressing... they have a whole salad section on the menu and offer no dressing. Food is almost average at best. All dishes arrived to the table barely warm. Had to remind waitress of missing items, and had to ask for silverware after staring at my dry salad for at least 10minutes. As I write this article I'm begging for the bill to get the f*** out of here. read more

While a Sergios today we ordered a Cuban Crockett Sandwich when it arrived at our table the ham was as thick as a ham steak. Our waitress Medisley notice and immediately asked what was wrong and she ordered an other sandwich done perfectly. What a great waitress who has excellent customer service skills. 4 stars to her excellent service. read more

I went for "dinner" at 3pm. I got the frita sliders and the pollo a la plancha. The sliders were good but they just brought 2 very small ones. The chicken came with 2 sides so I ordered a salad and vegetables. The salad was very big but the vegetables didn't come. I had to get them after my meal because they were forgotten. My server did not check up on me once. Didn't even ask if my boyfriend wanted to order. I wouldn't come back again and pay $25 plus tip to get chicken and 2 small sliders. The parking is horrible, everything around the restaurant looks sketchy. read more

Good spot for some Cuban food! Nice lunch special menu and on top of that the empanadas are extremely delicious. Service is on and off but pretty good. Recommend lunch specials over the other expensive dishes because it's the same quality same amount of sides just $10-$12 cheaper.. read more

Cuban food you say? Anyone who knows true Cuban food may know that this is one of its worst versions, although I must say that it was not always like this. About 6 or 7 years ago Sergio's offered really good dishes, what happened? Yesterday I ordered with my daughter a delivery from Sergio's that is in the Brickell area, Oh my God! The malanga cream that used to be one of their best dishes was a thick thing without any flavor, was it flour? We also ordered a table that contains fried pork masses, tamale, banana chips, croquettes and fried yucca, whose cost is $13 if I remember correctly and, in addition to arriving without the tamale and the chips, the appearance it had already left much to be desired. The ham croquettes were terrible, a hard crust of pure flour, please, those are not the Cuban croquettes. These comments, more than a simple criticism, it is a call to the administration of this well-known Cuban restaurant to return to its good taste of years ago and the good cuisine that the population of Miami deserves and the tourists who come here eager to taste the truly good and variated Cuban food. read more

No stars! But I had to put a star in order to put the review. Orders lunch at 1 pm! Called at 2:30 pm as my food was not here yet. Called and after being hung up 5 times finally got a manager on hold. They had no idea where the food was or even where the driver was. They comped our meal and say we would have it in 30 Min. After 45 min again no food. Called again and manager said she didn't know where food was and did not know which driver had been assigned to order. She stated she couldn't re do and send again because she could not keep wasting food. Even though it was all the restaurant and delivery fault. We have had the delay in the past but this was absolutely unacceptable!! And the manager did nothing to make it correct as expected. So if you order delivery, be warned!! read more

Multiple delivery failures! But this has been the worse including Their rude staff including Mauricio the manager. I hate to do this, but here it goes... Placed a delivery order today by phone for a total of three orders pan con bistec, sandwich de pollo, and two crema de malanga. 45 minutes later food arrived incomplete (pan con bistec missing). We ask the driver and his response is call the restaurant I have nothing to do with the orders (at no point showed any apologetic signs, after a $6 tip was just given to him). To make the long story short, when we called the restaurant the manager hung up after we told him we wanted a complete new order re shipped and that it would take up to an hour for another driver to come to us. He said the best I can do for you is stay with the food you received and give you a credit of $10 for next order. ARE YOU KIDDING ME ! great customer service Mauricio your managerial skills are out of this world Note: the chicken sandwich was missing half of the chicken breast!!! read more

I am forced to give this dump a 1 star because otherwise Yelp won't accept my review. This Sergio's location deserves a Zero. Zero stars for this place. I made the HUGE mistake of giving this place another shot. I arrived at 11:45 am, it's currently 1:26 pm and everyone at my table has gotten their food except me. I ordered an omelette. How does an omelette take almost 2 HOURS to make??? The manager came out and said that they are missing a cook today. The fact that they are missing ONE person should not result in this much chaos!!! The manager comped our meal. However, I will NEVER EVER EVER step foot in this place. read more

VISIT #1 - I came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with a friend. Once we were seated, we were forgotten about and not even given menus for about 10 minutes, so our experience here didn't start off well. I had the Pan Con Bistec, my friend had the Masas de Puerco platter. I had a Coke, he had a Café con Leche. Luckily the service seemed to be OK once our orders were taken; I enjoyed my sandwich and also tried a few things from his plate which were tasty as well. Total for our meals before gratuity came to $23.66. VISIT #2 - We returned here about 2 months after our initial visit, this time on a Friday night for dinner at around 8:45. I ordered one of their specials - they were out. My friend ordered a steak from their regular menu - a few moments later the manager returned to say they were out. My friend ordered a café con leche - when he stirred it, his cup was full of coffee grounds and it had to be sent back. Once we both reordered and got our meals everything was fine and once we'd finished, the manager did stop by our table and offered to comp us desserts for the earlier mishaps. That was great - but when we got the bill, both desserts were charged to us! My friend explained to our server what the manager had told us, and in the end, they only agreed to comp us 1 of our desserts, not both. Naturally, they credited mine which was only $2, vs. removing my friends' brownie with ice cream, as it was $7. If they were just having an off night, then it was a REALLY off night! Maybe 3 stars for my first experience, 2 stars or less for the second visit. Balances out to 2 stars on average. read more

Sergio's has won my heart back. First of all, Sergio's catered my New Years party and delivered on every promise! The food was delicious and the portions were ginormous. I ordered food for 70 people, and there was enough food served to feed 100. Price? Hundreds of dollars less than anyone else I could find and almost no one would deliver on New Year's eve except Sergio's. Second, feeling good about Sergio's, I had breakfast there on Saturday and it brought back memories of the days when Sergio's served great greasy portions and cost almost nothing. I gave Sergio's a second chance and it showed me who my comfort food daddy is. I think the bad times were a phase or maybe a figment of my imagination or a little of both. Who cares. Sergio's is back! read more

Came back hoping the service had changed or that I had previously come during a bad day. To not sound redundant I left once again very disappointed in the service as well as the surrounding atmosphere created by the staff that was receiving a meeting outside. I came to grab a bite and a cafecito by the outside window. It was just me and another gentleman. The waitress was rude and her coworkers definitely mattered more than the customers. The whole time she was making jokes with them and laughing. I had to call her in order to make my order. It took another five minutes to give me two Croquetas and an empanada. This place has become ridiculous. In the meantime the manager was delivering a "meeting" outside. Very unprofessional overall. I could hear everything he was discussing, including the business and daily goal. Think about it, anyone with the wrong intentions can use this info for the worst. The body odor from some of these employees is also a bit disturbing, considering that it's a restaurant. How appetizing will the food be when they deliver it to your table? Overall I left disappointed again and I doubt I'll return here or even recommend this place to anyone. The name it's been destroyed by the service offered and the staff that's hired to do a very simple job, help the customer. read more

FIRST of all - SERGIO's please update your specials menu, you NEVER have Arroz on Pollo on Sundays - why you always tease me.... We order from Sergio's because it's the only cuban place that delivers in the Gables neighborhood. The food is standards and reasonabily prices BUT the delivery is also a hassel... Once the cafe con leche was made was SALT and not SUGAR - how the F--- can you mess up an order of cafe con leche at a Cuban place... We ordered delievery the other night b/c the BF's parents were visiting, again, the order was messed up. 2 orders of Pollo a la Plancha turned into 1 and a side order of platanos was missing... SERIOUSLY - put someone competent on the phone to take orders check the delivery bags before they leave your restaurant!!!! read more

Let me start by saying that the croquettes Sergio's serves is what keeps me coming back to this place ! The goodness is addicting . This particular restaurant is hectic at times to find parking. Once inside I am usually seated right away since they have an inside and outside area . The service here is not 5* , the employees don't seem to receive much training on customer service which can be detrimental to a business . But since the food is great , there is no stopping me from getting my cafe con leche , tostada y juevos ! I am ecstatic they decided to partner with panther coffee . It is freshly brewed and the capuccino is number 1 for me . It has a hint of cinnamon which you don't expect . Basically takes you to cloud 9 .. But what coffee doesn't ? I also recommend the chicken empanadas and pastelitos .. I'm drooling while writing this . Sergio's is my go to breakfast spot ! read more

I keep giving Sergio's a try because it used to be so great! I've come for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Here's my biggest issue with Sergio's: it is a Cuban restaurant so I expect Cuban food not Cuban-style, not Spanish, not anything but Cuban. I think they're having an identity crisis or are feeling the need to compete with all the other restaurants popping up around them with the word "fusion" and "gastro-pub" to describe themselves . Sergio's, if you're reading this, stop it. We have always loved you for being Cuban. What am I talking about? They now have "tablas". OK, I get it. You want to be fancy and throw some croquetas and ham, cheese, and olives on a wood board because everyone else is doing it. OK, fine. But do you need to change the sandwich portion to "handhelds"?? What does that even mean? And in your sandwich aka handheld section, you don't even list the sandwiches we all love (I'm an adopted Miamian so, yes, I love Cuban food and have come to know it for 20 years now). Where's the Elena Ruz, Sergio's? Why did you leave it off the menu? That's what my friend wanted and she had to ask if you still make it. What's up with your smaller portions of beans in your fancy aluminum cups? When people go for Cuban food, they're expecting big portions so they can share. That's the point of going to family style restaurants. Moving on... when we went for breakfast, we ordered the french toast. We know what the Cuban french toast is... what we got was not it. We ordered tostadas, they weren't toasted. If i wanted Cuban bread with butter on it, we would have ordered that. We wanted the bread pressed and buttered. Nope. Not what we got. The service is always hit or miss. We just went for coffee and take out the other day and the service was spot-on. The other day for breakfast, not so much. The waitress kept disappearing on us. The ambiance: always a good place and there's always people watching. What i don't like is the way some of the waiters are rushing you to eat, pay, and get out... especially on weekends. Hey, we know you have to get your money's worth but we like to linger, talk, enjoy the weather... let us do that. Maybe we'll order another coffee or more food. The best thing I've found about Sergio's: the coffee: the one redeeming aspect of all my visits. The coffee is delicious. I want to keep coming back for more, Sergio's. I really do. And, I want to continue telling my friends from out of town about you but you have to stop trying to Americanize yourself or try to be all things to all people. We want to go back for the Cuban food and we want to share it. read more

Service was terrible. The quality off the food isn't the same. It's sad because this restaurant uses or be the best by far but I have no idea what happened. I ordered pollo a la milanesa and the chicken had no flavor. It's was bland hardly no sauce and cheese was burnt. Also pan con bistec with 2 day old bread. Hell no. Spend over 40 and for food I wasn't happy with. Never again read more

I'm pretty sure every Cuban in Miami knows about Sergio's, my Cuban self included. The one thing I cannot leave Sergio's without ordering is the tostones trio. No matter how full I may be or how much food I ordered I eat every morsel... SO it's three perfectly crispy, delicious, and fresh fried tostones. Each is topped with either, pork, shrimp, or ground beef. Then some sauce that is a mystery to me and a pico de gallo type topping. Definitely recommend that everyone try this! Everything else on the Sergio's menu is great. Sandwiches, desserts, coffee... But nothing that truly stands out among the plethora of local Cuban places in Miami. Important to consider: Sergio's does offer a great ambiance especially with the outdoor seating and good service. read more

This place has been on Coral Way as long as I can remember. Back in the days I would come here for chicken a la plancha and beans /rice. Today I can come back because they serve a "Flaca" Menu. A little insulting at first I thought but then reconsidering they are one of the only restaurants out there that serve their chicken (about 4 oz) just the way I would make it at home. No salt added with some picco de gallo and steamed mixed vegetables. The veggies did also seem fresh. This also was served with a side salad. I call this a smart move on their part! And btw: their price is right as well. $8.99 for the meal I just described to you. Great marketing! read more
