This is our first time at Sergio's after having come to Miami for many decades. As others have noted, it's OK, it's not great and it's not terrible. Will elaborate why Two of us arrive first and the other two came about seven minutes later. The server brought us serving utensils and water and then didn't come back for at least 15 minutes. She took her order and my order was a bit of a fiasco as I wanted to substitute the moros with cauliflower rice (and pay the up charge), and a side salad instead of the yucca with Mojo. Of course it was a big hullabaloo, and the only reason I wanted to do this was because they don't offer the roast pork as an addition to salads. They offer shrimp, salmon and chicken, but not the roast pork, which is one of their standard proteins. Kind of ridiculous right? The croquetas came out and they were so so. Not crispy, not golden brown, not hot - maybe 105°F. Hope we don't get sick! The flavor was mediocre, they were not creamy at all. Lots of bread crumbs in there. The Cuban sandwich came out, and it had not been pressed at all. Although it was chock full of pork and ham, it was cold and not at all what a Cuban sandwich should be. Fortunately, the midnight sandwich aka Media Noche, appear to be somewhat pressed and warmer than the Cuban sandwich. The grilled chicken strips with peppers looks tasty and my plate of roast pork with griddle on onions was very good. I poured it over my side salad and ate it with the grated cauliflower rice. That was a really different texture than I'm used to and I liked it. Right before our food got served one of us ordered a side of Tostones. You should've seen the server's face thought she was gonna lose it. All in all it was OK, although I don't know that I would return and I certainly wouldn't order croquetas or a Cuban sandwich. read more

Nasty customer service. I sat down at Sergio's because I was looking for somewhere to eat my food while waiting for my flight. The girl at the counter told me the seats were only for customers, which was totally fair. I said no problem and was literally about to buy something, but then she said that because I had Chick-fil-A with me, I still couldn't sit there. So I politely asked if there was anywhere nearby with tables where I could eat since it was my first time at MIA and I had no idea where anything was. Instead of actually helping, she sarcastically told me to eat at the chairs by my gate, which don't even have tables. A few minutes later I found tables literally right in front of Sergio's that she could've easily pointed me to. I'm a minor traveling alone for the first time, so I was already pretty disoriented, and the way she talked to me made me feel stupid for asking a simple question. I completely understand not letting people eat outside food in the restaurant. That wasn't the issue. The issue was how rude and dismissive she was. Solid Cuban Food with Quick and Friendly Service. Wife had a hankerin for Sergio's Cuban Nachos which are instead of the traditional tortilla chips they use sweet plantain chips. They are ridiculously addictive. Along with the plantain chips you get your usual Nachos add ons like tomatoe, onion, guac, sour cream but instead of ground beef you get pulled pork which is marinated in a tamarind bbq sauce. It's so effing good. Once you start you can't stop. And portion size is enough to fill up two people. Definitely worth trying if you haven't already. But aside from this dish we specifically came for, we ended up grabbing an order of torejas for dessert. Which is Cuban bread soaked in simple syrup and is a very traditional Cuban dessert. Sergio's has the best parking off of Coral Way! It's massive and so convenient, but come here for the coffee and the croquetas! I love the coffee here. They give you a Cortadito that is double the size that most places give you, but also really great. You can get alternative milks and artificial sweetener if you prefer. Quality of this place has gone down immensely. This used to be a Miami staple. Moro is dry, plantains tastes like they're from a box, ropa vieja was mid as well. They remodeled it to make the place look nice but lost all of the quality when it comes to the food. Such a shame. Croquettes - not a fan, as they were mushy and soggy and not interesting at all for me. Main, pork with a side of potatoe salad and also a Caesar salad. All average for Cuban fayre. I have not been to Sergio's in over a year. We decided to go for a family dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We absolutely love the renovation. They have a large welcoming outside seating area that draws you in[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. They still have window service for coffee or a quick pickup. We were greeted then seated promptly. Our server, Eduardo was extremely helpful and friendly. He welcomed us and recommended some delicious options. We drink a lot of water and he ensured that our glasses were never empty. I ordered the flattened chicken (pollo a la plancha) which was delicious with mixed vegetables and riced cauliflower. My daughter had the churrasco steak medium with rice and beans and her father had the chicken milanesa with papas (mashed potatoes). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Waiting a long time sitting down too for waitresses to to say something, acknowledge, etc..passed by a few times. We came here a few days ago for a late lunch. Looks like now they have a club membership food that is on the same menu you order, so if you want for example Pan con Tomate is a NO unless you are a member. Either have a separate Menu for the members or at least offer the dish at a higher price, not just say NO. Several items we wanted were denied. By the way the croquetas were terrible. The lunch fried rice mediocre. Oh and the new rooftop area when it opens we were told only for members. Sergio's needs to rethink this change as the area people that have been going there for years like ourselves will be going some place else. Hasta la vista. read more

The last couple of times it feels like it's going down hill. Had an issue with a server stating that I ordered a pork chop when in fact I didn't. I ordered the deep fried pork. Also we all know how white rice is supposed to be cooked but, why is it that they don't. Rice is not supposed to be crunchy! I used to love going here for years. Sadly the last 3 experiences have not been great. We consistently get ignored by our waitress to even place an order. Then we also get ignored to get water refills (no ice in cups). People who arrive after us are asked if they are ready for the check before us. The bill is pulled up electronically, so you don't get to look at your bill ahead of paying. I hate the automated amounts for you to leave a tip while your waitress watches you (I only left 18% but wanted to leave less). Then when I requested the printout, which took forever, we found we were automatically charged a bogus $3.99 per each soda for a "souvenir cup" that nobody ordered or wanted...we aren't tourists.
