    Pan con Bistec

Cuban comfort food goes a long way... With daily specials priced so attractively and served so generously, this little spot in SoMi has become my refuge for my Cuban yearnings quite often. Personally, I'm not really into beans so they've offered to replace that side with the soup of the day which I find quite fulfilling honestly. I've had their picadillo, tostada, palomilla, pan con bistec, and their medianoche and have had a great experience each time. While I do wish they made their own shoestring potatoes for the pan con bistec and also served fresh mariquitas, I'm okay with it because the prices are unbeatable. Everything I order is ready within minutes which is great for people on the go like myself. They offer delivery during certain hours of the day but I've picked up all my orders in person because I find it faster. There's outdoor seating available which is great during the cooler months. It's reliable, affordable, and centrally located so I'd give them a shot when in the area.

Please stop littering and putting trash on people's cars in the nearby area. Several times when I come here, I get trash put on my car, including advertisements from this restaurant. It is waste

In town on business and co-worker recommended this place. I had the Cuban Steak Sandwich. It was so good! The Cuban bread was awesome. I also had a Cuban pastry with cheese and guava. So good. The wait staff was very friendly. My food came out quickly. There was tables outside that I ate at. Really nice place to try the sandwiches.

As a vegetarian it can sometimes be hard to find veg-friendly bites, but Mojito Grill came through! This is the perfect spot to grab a quick meal and the food is super filling and so tasty!

Eek. Not great. We came in at a very slow time, so I can't blame the food quality on them being rushed. I ordered a pan con bistec, which was very tasty and quick, but I tried my friend's 'cheeseburger' and was very confused. First off, the burger was put on the same long cuban bread as my sandwich.... this meant that there was a hamburger patty in the middle surrounded by a ton of plain rectangular-shaped bread. Another friend ordered their Cuban Bowl, which consists of rice, beans, grilles steak, and plantains. We were all surprised when he opened the container to see one tiny shriveled up plantain. Luckily, they gave him another plantain when he asked about it, but it was very odd considering he had made a point to ask and make sure the dish came with plantains. The bigger issue to me is the condition of the restaurant. We're talking dirty, falling-off ceiling tiles, filthy AC vents (which didn't seem to be working very well- it was sweltering inside!), and an overall dingy interior. This is basic stuff that has just been left to get dirty and stayed that way- doesn't build confidence in the food.... This place is in need of a serious cleaning and some TLC and though their signature pan con bistec was very flavorful, this does not make up for the rest of the food/cleanliness/heat of the location.

I enjoyed my chicken bowl which consisted of fresh grilled chicken and onions, beans and rice, and sweet plantains. The black beans were delicious and the chicken had just the right amount of seasoning. The service was pleasant. The young lady took my order, relayed to the cook to grill chicken and the rest was already prepared. It took less than 10 minutes. It was an generous amount of food for under $10. I will definitely go back I would say this is a take-out more than sit down restaurant. There are a few barstools and a counter and several tables and chairs outside on the sidewalk. Some refer to it as a "hole in the wall", mama, papa, no frills type place with descent food. They are right, and that's a good and positive generality. There is parking in front if you get lucky, or street parking.

I regret this so much and that's unusual, I'm a fatty when it comes to food

Terrible service and attitude. Also 20 minutes late on the order for a prepared soup and prepared rice. Nothing that needed to be cooked.

We got a sampler platter that included some croquetas, plantain chips, tamal, fried pork chunks, and fried shrimp. Zero complaints about anything! So so good. My main was the Sopa de Res, which was a hearty soup. The serving size was gigantic. I actually took most of it back with me and it made two more meals. There were lots of root vegetables, slow cooked beef still on the bone, a side of rice and corn. My dad got a huge Cuban sandwich that he also ate on for days and my mom had empanadas, which I finished off for a third meal. We also went back for pie. That was ok - it was extremely rich and kind of pricy at $13 a slice. I also tried their Cortadito and took it to go. Great coffee as well. Highly, highly recommend eating here. The decor is fun and the wait staff super nice and patient with all our questions. They also have a separate ice cream shop across the parking lot.

My husband ordered a Cuban sandwich with French fries cooked to perfection in clean oil, and I had grilled chicken (pechuga à la Blanche) with beans, rice, and sweet plantain, along with cilantro sauce. The portion sizes are very generous and we each had leftovers for another whole meal. We will definitely be back! I also appreciated that the suggested tip amount started at 15%. We left more, but too many restaurants have the suggested tip amounts much too high. Do look at the menu item pricing, as some dishes were $75+. It may have been due to portion size as well as ingredients.

Honestly, my past experiences there have always been pretty good, as the place was clean, the staff friendly, and the food consistently solid. That's why when dinnertime came around today, I didn't think twice about ordering from them. I had some friends over to watch the USMNT Gold Cup Final soccer match and I was really craving Cuban food. I placed an order through Uber Eats expecting the same quality I've come to know. The food actually arrived pretty quickly, in about 35 minutes, which was great. But as soon as I opened the container with my Cuban sandwich, I knew something was off. It wasn't pressed properly as you could tell right away someone had rushed making it. But the real disappointment? There were no condiments at all. No mustard, no pickles, no mayo... nothing. It just seemed like someone lightly buttered the bread, barely warmed it up, and sent it out. When I opened the sandwich, it was even worse there was hardly any ham or pork inside. Honestly, it looked sad. I was so disappointed, I ended up tossing it in the trash. I mean, it's one thing to mess up a random order, but this was a Cuban sandwich from a Cuban restaurant. That's the signature item. How do you get that wrong? The rest of the food was okay, not great, but edible, so at least my guests had something to eat. Still, I'm the one who chose the place and really wanted to enjoy my meal, and they completely missed the mark. I'm giving El Rinconcito Cubano of Kendall a one-star review based on tonight's experience. To be fair, I've had good meals here in the past, so I'd be open to giving them another shot down the road. If they step it back up, I'll happily update this review. But tonight? They really dropped the ball.
