Unfortunately, the experience went downhill once the food arrived. We ordered the Lik Yuh Fingas Oxtail, which came served in a small Dutch pot. The presentation was really nice, but unfortunately, that was probably the best part of the dish. The oxtail was mostly bones and fat, with very little actual meat. The rice and peas were cold and undercooked, which was especially disappointing. We also ordered the Yard Style Fried Chicken. I was expecting crispy, flavorful fried chicken, but it was the complete opposite. The chicken was soggy, not crispy at all, and basically tasteless. I ate one piece and did not even bother with the rest. The gravy was honestly the highlight of the entire meal. For appetizers, we ordered the Crispy Ackee Rolls and Pressed Plantain Bites. They were okay, but once again, both tasted like they had been reheated rather than freshly prepared. The service was another major issue. Our waitress took our order and then disappeared. She never came back to check on us, never asked if we needed anything, and did not even ask if we wanted water. At these prices, basic attentive service should be expected. And that is the biggest problem. The prices are outrageous for the quality of food being served. You are paying premium prices for what is ultimately pretty standard Jamaican food, and the execution just was not there. Dukunoo has a lot going for it. The music, atmosphere, decor, and overall vibe are great. But the food quality, freshness, service, and pricing need significant improvement. Right now, you are paying more for the atmosphere than the actual dining experience.
