Got there an hour before closing time!
Maybelin A.

We made it to this restaurant at 7:05pm today (January 24th) and the sign on the door was flashing "Open" but the door was locked and when I got the attention of the lady inside she made a hand signal that they were ! That's ridiculous since on the door it states Sunday's they open until 8PM and when you check Yelp and Google it shows the same information so I suggest that if their hours of operation changed they should update their info. I wasted my time and gas driving here all the way from Homestead!!!

So disappointed in the serving of my food. I asked for carne asada with white rice and plaintains. I asked her to place an extra strip of meat and was charged. That is fine with me. I did ask her to give me just a little more rice and she said she would have to charge me extra for it. Wow all I wanted was maybe half a scoop more for the meat I was purchasing. Then to add to my disappointment she gave me 3 1/2 pieces of plaintains. One the size of the coin. See picture. White rice is so cheap she could of made me a happy returning customer. What a letdown. Now I will have to find another fritanga place near the falls!

Queso Frito, Carne Asada, Plátano Herbido and a mountain of Gallo Pinto! Make sure to ask for Crema on the side and Ensalada de Repollo!

I'm not from Nicaragua, but being that my beau is, I find myself eating fritanga more often times than not. Thank the heavens for such great food, let me tell you! This little spot is less than three miles from my home, making it both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because I can get great food in less than 15 minutes. A curse, because I need to lose 20lbs and won't manage to do that eating here! Their carne asada is tender and full of flavor. Their gallo pinto is perfectly cooked and always fresh. The queso frito leaves you begging for more and their maduros are super sweet and tasty. Also, the $3 cacao, don't tell my his grandmother, is the best I've ever tasted! I highly recommend this place for heaping mounds of food at a great price. You'll love it.

Amazing yummy food. Totally recommend.

Super rude. I was told that they don't speak English and when I tried to speak in Spanish, they told me they were sold out of everything.

Pretty bad. Only good thing was the low cost and portions. My chicken was very bland.

We had a very good lunch at Madrono restaurant. It's a very nice looking space with table clothes…read moreand well-dressed servers who were eager to please and serve. We started with melon and dragonfruit drinks which were like aguas frescas. For starters we tried the Taquitos and Chancho con Yucca and they were excellent. The pork tenderloin chunks in the Chancho were done well and had a tasty coating of spices. We loved the chopped cabbage. We also liked the pulled beef in the Taquitos. The fried beans were creamy and delicious. In fact, everything on our plates was delicious! For mains, we had the Fajitas de Carne and Lengua en Salsa. Both were very good. I haven't had a tamale in a while so I decided to try the Indio Maiz; the sweet corn was good as was the sour cream and soft cheese. Yum. I really enjoyed Maranos. I may have been the only gringo in the place :).

The portions were good in comparison to Los Ranchos and the steak was extremely flavorful and soft. They also have a selection of sauces for the steak or your meal. The service was great. Our only complaint was that they served canned beverages. If you are somebody that drinks a lot of soda, the bill can quickly get expensive. We love Nicaraguan food and frequently dine at other places but this restaurant by far is the best. The wait can be long on the weekends with larger parties so just be aware of that.

Our server Martha was great and got our orders in quickly during the lunch rush. We all ordered the Churrasco and they got them all fairly quickly. They were all cooked perfectly and plated well. My husband and I both ordered the Presidente steak, and unfortunately, neither of us was pleased. The steaks lacked flavor, and mine was overcooked. I ended up taking it home instead. We also ordered the tostones nica, which we enjoyed, but the experience was affected by the wait time. It took about 20 minutes to receive them, and we felt they would've been much better if served fresh and promptly. I do want to highlight that the kitchen did a great job packing our food to go--everything was organized as if it were a full takeout order, including all the sides, which I really appreciated. I also liked that there was no wait time to be seated. Overall, not the experience I remember, but I hope it was just an off day.
