We went here today for their brunch and Christmas themes (Miracle at La Cañita) and had an incredible time. W were the first ones there when we arrived at 11:45 am. The place was decked out in the most gorgeous Christmas decor. There was a back room with a Christmas tree and garland adorned fireplace which I assume is for groups; (the doors were almost completely closed while we were there). The bar area was so classy, and there was live music on the stage. (My 3-year-old had a blast dancing to all the songs). Because of the special Christmas additions, they had festive cocktails that came in fun mugs. I had a Candy Cane Lane (in a unicorn cup) and it was peppermint perfection!! A must drink for peppermint fans. My husband had the Coconut Hot Chocolate which was also delicious with flavors that greatly complemented the amaretto. They even served my daughter's apple juice in a fun cup. Everything was already so great, but the food blew us away. We had the Croauetas Jamón Serrano which had a great, rich flavor. My daughter and I didn't care for the jamón as much, but that may have been personal preference. We ordered my daughter the Ricotta Pancakes. These were the least favorite of the table, but I thought they were really good. I liked the guava, and they were so creamy. My husband had the Stuffed French Toast which, despite having the same or similar ingredients as the pancakes, he thought was much better. But best of all I had the Huevos Benedictos. These were incredible. The presentation was on point, first of all. But the lechón practically melted in your mouth. The second eggs Benedict did have some fattier pieces of lechón that weren't as great, but overall it was good. (My child was obsessed and ate most of the lechón). But the eggs were cooked to perfection and not a bit over, and the mojo hollondaise sauce and Cuban bread all together just really made the perfect meal. I would definitely go back for that. Our server was also so friendly. She was attentive to us and my daughter, and also contributed to our great experience. read more

La Cañita in Kendall is exactly the kind of spot this area has been needing .. fun, lively, and full of energy. The vibe was amazing..the live music kept the place buzzing all night. The food was good but the apps were better and the drinks were strong. The only real downside was that some of the food came out cold, and we had to send it back, which was disappointing. I think my group honestly enjoyed the appetizers more than the actual entrées. I'd say this is the kind of place you go for drinks, small bites, and some dancing .. a fun night out without having to drive all the way to Brickell or Wynwood. read more

Honestly, we came in on a Friday night and the menu looked great online. We accidentally walked into a very high vibe which was awesome! There was live music and the band was great!! It does look like staff doesn't really know what they're doing, but maybe it's because I am in the hospitality industry myself. After asking the host how long the wait would be and standing there waiting for a response for maybe 10 minutes, she just walks us over to a table. I mean, very nice! But just not what I was expecting. We got one of the best seats in the house if you're looking to watch the live show! Now was for service, I get that it's a busy Friday night but it happened on not one, not two, but THREE times where the food runners went to the wrong table when dropping off the food. Our server was okay, not much can you do with such loud music, so I understand, but she was taking absolutely forever to bring us anything and even tried handing me a takeout box while holding three plates in her hand, and then look at me crazy when I don't know what she's trying to give me At some point the music was getting crazy feedback and I literally had to cover my ears. Overall? Not sure if I'll be coming back but the food was pretty good. read more

Took my parents here for dinner to celebrate their anniversary. I had been looking at other reviews and photos of this restaurant for weeks, and was so excited to try. I made reservations indicating we were celebrating an anniversary.  Flavia was GREAT! She helped answer menu questions, and made recommendations. There was an issue with my dish, and she was extremely apologetic and fixed the problem immediately. The ropa vieja was delicious and really flavorful. The maduros that came with it were perfection! We also had mojitos, tostones and the local snapper filet. The flan and bread pudding were also really good. What would have made this evening exceptional, was if there was some kind of acknowledgement on the dessert plates in celebration of my parents anniversary.   The music was lively but a bit loud. I can only imagine how loud it is when the live band starts playing. And the Christmas decor, which was very festive and sure to get you into the holiday spirit! read more

My family and I came to La Cañita to celebrate my grandmas birthday. I LOVE how beautiful the place is, how amazing the music is, and how gorgeous it's decorated. The food was good, but definitely pricey. The drinks were also good. I had a sangria that was pretty delicious. We ordered some appetizers like croquetas and cuban bread. The croquetas were good and the cuban bread was good it had a side of burrata with marinated tomatoes. My plate was the churrasco. I will say for $45 the steak was pretty small, and it was a bit lukewarm temperature. Foodwise, overall it was good but not great for the price we paid for the dishes. The service was unfortunately not the best. Our server kept getting lost and I had to track her down wayyy too much to ask for extra bread and ask for drinks and we waited for some plates that when they arrived were a bit cold for us to have waited so long for. The place is beautiful and the music was great but the service was not good and the service charge IS included. I'd expect if the service is included that my service should be great and wouldn't have to fish for my server to come simply for water or for a refill. We also had to pay about $4 for a bit more bread for the burrata dip (it originally came with 5 small pieces of bread). read more

Great addition to the Town and Country Mall. La Cañita is owned by the famous chef Michelle Bernstein and has a similar vibe like her other place Cafe La Trova. It is vibrant and lively with loud Cuban live music and a full bar. Perfect if you're looking for a boozy brunch and fun dinner with dancing. I went once for dinner and once for brunch. I tried the lamb chops and snapper. The snapper on top of yuca and a coconut broth was my favorite. Their flan de la Flaca with maracuya sauce is delish too. They have a wide variety of drinks that are all presented in a fun way. Great place for birthdays. read more

We were invited to a special event here and let me say we were very happy to have been invited! They had a buffet style dinner with arroz con pollo (yellow rice and chicken). Caesar salad , sweet plantains and tostones, ceviche and Ropa vieja to say a few. Everything was delicious! We didn't have any drinks but our group said they were very good! Although the waiter told us they were not spicy, they were. The tortillas used are not made fresh, and that wasn't great. I wish I got more photos of the decor of this place as there are so many details from the flooring to the ceiling. Every spot was taken into consideration there. The staff was extremely welcoming and usually for a place where the staff is great, the food sometimes lacks, but this restaurant was on point all around. This restaurant was honestly horrible. We went on Mother's Day and the experience started off bad immediately. The waitress stopped us because of a hat, saying there was a "dress code." Meanwhile, once inside, there were people wearing shorts and tops like they were headed to the pool. Mind you, we were actually dressed nicely for the type of place they claim to be. The cherry on top was the atmosphere. The place is beautifully decorated, but the music was blasting so loud you couldn't even have a conversation with the person sitting across from you. What's the point of going out to eat if you can't even talk? Blasting Lenier . Then I checked the reviews and saw multiple people complaining about the exact same issues, with the owner replying saying they'd "fix it," yet clearly nothing has changed. Now I understand why this place isn't really known. If I want good Cuban food, a good vibe, and an actual dress code that makes sense, I'd rather go to Marabú or even La Carreta lol. The ambiance here is incredible, the band and the music they play is so inviting and soothing. I would say this is a gem in Kendall. The place is chic, elevated, and all the staff/waiters wear suits. I would rate the food a 7/10. Either too salty or lacking depth and flavor. I ordered the lamb chops (not enough flavor) and my mom ordered the lechon asado ( yuka was too acidic and salty) The service is a hit or a miss. The hostess was not courteous and mind you it's the "first" impression we have of the business so she definitely needs more training on customer service. Every other staff was courteous but of course you don't forget the first interaction. They're also strict with the seating, you can't just sit anywhere and they won't accommodate your requests. We came just 2 of us with no reservation and it was mostly empty but they still did not want us to have certain seats. I wanted to share my thoughts on La Canita Kendall, which I believe is a nice addition to the neighborhood of Kendall. Overall, the food has been good on most occasions, though there were a couple of instances where some dishes were bland. Considering the cost of certain items, I feel they should be excellent consistently. The service is usually really good; however, there have been times when we struggled to find our server for additional drinks or to have our plates cleared. That said, the service at the bar is consistently great, making it my preferred spot to ensure prompt attention. The venue itself has a great vibe, and the live Spanish music is enjoyable and well received. I do have some concerns about how long this location will stay open. Kendall needs this establishment to thrive, and I sincerely hope the community continues to support it so it becomes a neighborhood staple. While there are a few areas to improve, I believe La Canita Kendall is overall a great place. Thanks! read more

Great spot for drinks, live music, and happy hour specials. Happy Hour is pretty packed and drinks depend on your bartender as always since the efficiency or expertise leads to inappropriately made drink to a good cocktail. Also, there was a lot of attention being given to the same people by the experiences bartenders to the same customers that were coming back for more drinks while people waiting at bar were being ignored. The live band was great! Our waiter was great as well! Food lacks that Cuban flavor. Entrees lacked flavor in my opinion of what a Cuban dish would taste like. The flan and the Tres leches were also dry and without flavor but the presentation was nice. I would recommend the place for drinks and music and if you want to sneak a dance in while there. read more

Cafe La Trova peeps have brought their flavors and live music to Kendall. It's about time we had a nice Cuban-style restaurant with entertainment that will not break the bank. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and I'm so glad we finally made it--everything about the experience was amazing! The atmosphere is beautiful, with live music that really adds to the ambiance. The staff was warm and attentive, and Eric took such great care of us throughout the night. For appetizers, I had the spinach empanada and my husband had the octopus--both were absolutely delicious. For dinner, I ordered the roast pork, and my husband had the seafood rice. Every dish was full of flavor and perfectly prepared. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, everything was just wonderful--great food, great music, and a fantastic vibe. Sat outside, it was a beautiful day to sit on the patio. It was busy but the service was mostly good. The food was fantastic. Delicious and came out fast. Inside, the place is really nice, too with a stage for a band and shows. My only critique is that it was hard to get a servers attention to order more drinks because it was happy hour. Other than that, it was great, but they do provide a very generous, happy hour menu and for a good amount of time, including weekends. Would definitely recommend. read more

What a fabulous new spot in Kendall! The service here was great as our server was always attentive and gave us good recommendations. The meat was tender and juicy. The calamari was crispy and well seasoned, paired with a nice aïoli sauce. We ordered the classic Mojito, which our server recommended, it was refreshing and minty. The best part about this place was the live music they played! The only con was that it was loud, so talking to your table might be a struggle, but other than that the vibes were great! I had been wanting to try this restaurant for about a month after walking by one Saturday night and catching a glimpse of the live music and vibrant atmosphere. We finally came to celebrate my sister's birthday with a group of 10, and it did not disappoint. The decor was absolutely stunning--modern with rich dark green accents and a speakeasy-inspired ambiance that immediately sets the mood for a special night out. We started with the pork belly, which was perfectly crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth tender on the inside. The ham and cheese croquetas were decadent and a crowd favorite. My fiancé and I had mojitos, which were boozy, refreshing, and well-balanced. The live band added to the inviting vibe, and they even sang happy birthday to my sister, which was a lovely touch. For our entrees, the portions were generous. Most of us ordered the ropa vieja, a classic Cuban dish--the shredded beef was tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with sweet plantains. We also tried the lechón, which was citrusy, juicy, and packed with flavor. My fiancé went for the oxtail lasagna, which he thoroughly enjoyed--though the portion was smaller compared to the others, the richness of the dish made up for it. A good friend brought me here after hearing good things -- this is apparently a celebrity chef's restaurant -- so we checked out the Town & Country location. Later I realized I had actually been to the Bayside location years earlier post-pandemic. That one is nicely designed but too touristy -- food and service were just OK when I visited with my coworkers. Town & Country has a more refined look -- clearly not a budget build. Materials and finishes are higher-end, though the design is simpler than Bayside's. The space isn't small but still lacked a cozy feel, maybe due to how it's laid out. That said, it's still nicer than 99% of restaurants out there and it's a cool place to bring someone on a date or to somewhere different. There's a small front stage with live music -- a nice touch if you like that. I personally don't love loud music while eating since it makes conversation tough. No cover charge (at least not on weekdays), but expect the entertainment to be baked into the menu prices. This is Cuban cuisine, but prices are 2-3x the norm. A $28 Ropa Vieja? Wild -- but to be fair, you're paying for ambiance, presentation, and live music. My $24 Lechón Asado with Yuca and Chicharrón looked great and was generously portioned. The chicharrón? Too-tier. But the lechón itself was a letdown -- soft, yes, but tasted boiled and flavorless, like it was drowned in store-bought sour orange mojo. No seasoning came through. I could only eat about 60% of it. A few maduros might've helped balance the overpowering sourness of the 99% sour orange based mojo. Chicharrón was otherworldly -- I'd give it 6/5. Yuca was half-decent, with the other half being undercooked with the fibrous core still inside -- 2/5. The mushroom croquettes were a big surprise -- cheesy with just enough mushroom flavor. Definitely order them -- 5/5. My vegetarian friend had the Watermelon Caprese and gave it a 5/5. It looked delicious - emphasis on 'looked' LOL. Dessert (flan) was reasonably priced and a solid 4/5. Came topped with pickled papaya, which neither of us really got it's point -- felt like they were trying too hard. Service was friendly but not very attentive -- I went without water for 20+ minutes. We had to flag our server down a couple of times. Overall: 4 out of 5 for design, ambiance, and quality ingredients. Not your typical Cuban spot -- expect some hits and misses. read more

Best happy hour in town! And it's 5 days a week! Wed-Sun 5-8pm! Not only do they have a happy Hour that last passed 5 or 6 but the food quality and price are unbeatable! Croquetas, Cuban bread and buratta spread, cuviche and the best ban con lechon we've ever had (I think the guys had 2 each from how good they were) all on happy hours. You can pair it with a margarita, mojito, or old fashion and you're not spending more than $50 a person to leave fulfilled! Not there for happy hour? Don't worry, they have a full menu that still more reasonably priced than any other place in Miami. And now they have Sunday brunch!! Sit at their massive bar or on the main floor and enjoy their live band that sounds like they came out of a Cuban record. I'm in love with this place. Definitely 10 stars for me! read more

Fun atmosphere and good crowd. More of the 60+ group but everyone was dancings, eating, listening to the band and just all around having a good time. Service was quick and the food was good. I would go back just for the atmosphere. My only complaint is that it was very very loud with the band playing so you couldn't really have a conversation without practically yelling your words. We did have a table very close to the stage so that may account for that negative. But like I said overall a solid place. I'd give it a B. read more

This place is happening, if you're looking for a taste of South Florida and you do not mind a loud venue then this place is for you. The service was great, the food was delicious. I also had my first ever black old-fashioned, which you should definitely try if you like chocolate, it is not over the top. It was just delicious. Came to check out this new place that recently opened in Kendall, a few minutes away from my house. It's located in the Palms town country mall and its an elevated twist on Cuban food. Came to try out for happy hour and I would have to say that it's definitely one of the highlights. The Mojitos were delicious refreshing, perfectly balance of flavors. The stars were the empanadas, spinach cheese was especially good, dangerously addictive. Couldn't resist ordering the beef one as well, wow the flavors. It had actual chunks of beef. We ordered the mushroom croquettes too oh Very tasty. Service initially was great, good recommendations, but there was a mistake with our entrée we had ordered the seafood rice (arroz mariscado) and he misunderstood the parrillada. Mind you the rice is $26 and the Parada is $82 but he realized his mistake as soon as they brought out the food and our faces couldn't hide the shock. We didn't want it to go to waste and it was delicious (oh the chimmichurri) luckily, they adjusted the price to what we would've paid for the rice. We didn't let this dampen our night. As for the music, we could hear how super lively and fun they played, but We had decided to sit outside to enjoy the happy hour; all in all really loved this restaurant and look forward to coming back. read more

Wow. I could end this review with that one word. This restaurant absolutely wowed me. The food alone would warrant five stars. The phenomenal service could bring it up to five stars even if the food were only half as good. The decor is conducive for anything from a family meal to romantic cocktails and date night. Bit then add in music...but not your usual restaurant live band. These guys are talented. They get folks out of their seats and dancing. Multitalented artists with a vaiety of traditional instruments. Just wow. We drop by for a late dinner after a movie so we really weren't that hungry. My wife ordered chicken empanadas and I ordered the Ropa Vieja As someone who frequents Cuban restaurants in the past, I have to say these were both among the best I have ever eaten. I would've left a clean plate if portion was not so huge. Absolutely delicious. We were not in the mood to drink this evening, but the drink menu is incredibly inviting and we will be back. We noticed they have a happy hour every day and we will be sure to drop by. I love love love this place. Happy hour in La Cañita is a fun way to start your weekend. Walking into a warm and inviting decor, you're greeted by a courteous and friendly hostess . The bar area comes alive and that's because people like Josuan and Ray -are not only top rate bartenders, but treat you as if you're friends. The bar food is not what you'd expect from HH bites, we're talking Michelle Bernstein level... need I say more. Pan con Lechon ( just try... ) another favorite , though all were amazing was the Queso Frito. To describe will not do it justice. It has to be experienced. We had a great mid-week (Wednesday) experience at La Canita/Kendall. First time there and we enjoyed the Happy Hour drinks/food...WOW everyday from 4-8PM. For dinner we had Lechon Asado, Ropa Vieja (trust me, it's not your mother Ropa Vieja) and Lamb Chops, all were delicious, good portions and very tasty. Service was good, it has the server as Erick on our receipt, and the three piece Cuban band was AWESOME. For dessert we shared a Bread Pudding...DELICIOUS !! It averaged out to $ 63 a person (we did have 9 well drinks), plus tax and tip. I am sure we will visit this restaurant again, FUN PLACE ! read more

When we arrived, we were told that there is a two hour max for service, it is stated on the website. The ambiance is rather nice, since there was live music. Once were all seated, our server, Ray, brought over water and gave us a few minutes to look at the menu. We ordered our drinks and they were brought over rather quickly, which is good! For our appetizers, we shared the croquetas, the conch fitters and the beef empanadas, all were really good. For my entree, I had the snapper filet and it was delicious. The rest of the entrees looked really good too. For dessert, we shared the churros and a tres leches, both were good. If you like live music, I recommend that you go early, so that you can really enjoy it. I'd recommend this place for dinner. read more

La Cañita offers a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere, great live music and perfect for casual dining or enjoying drinks with friends and family. The overall food quality is decent -- nothing overly impressive, but satisfying enough for a mid-range spot. The appetizers and meat dishes are well-seasoned and nicely presented, while the cocktails and drinks stand out as the highlight of the experience the Negroni I ordered was spot on. Their mixology team clearly knows what they're doing unlike the kitchen. However, the Yellowtail plate was a noticeable disappointment for me compared to the rest of the menu maybe I should have ordered something else. It lacked freshness and flavor, maybe they went for some kind of fusion with ginger and maybe rosemary couldn't tell left me feeling somewhat over-seasoned. While not inedible, it didn't live up to the restaurant's otherwise solid offerings. Still, if you're visiting for good drinks and a laid-back evening with friends, and family and enjoy good live music this place is worth a stop -- just maybe skip the yellowtail don't forget order the Negroni. read more
