This is such a good Convenience Store. Not only do they have a great assortment of wine and beer - but they have the most delish subs. I love boar's head meats, and that is what they have here at Downstairs. I am a sucker for an italian sub, but reading other reviews I think I'm going to have to try other options soon. You can get your subs on a wrap or croissant, and those options sound amazing too. They have coffee and grab and go pastries because, Miami. Service is friendly, and quick. The parking is limited, so I'm sure during lunch time it may get a little hectic to get in and out. Will return for sandwich fixes soon! read more

Downstairs is like a convenience store on steroids lol! They have a tiny breakfast/lunch spot you can grab a salad or a sandwich in for lunch. They also have plenty of breakfast items or snacks including empagnadas, croquetta, pastries, and eggs. They sell hard to get craft beers and wine as well so if you need alcohol then pick some up here. There's plenty of parking spots outside for easy access. Once you step inside it's clean, friendly, and hospitable. They are always stocked up on everything and have a variety of flavors which makes them stand out for energy drinks, sparkling water, nut mixes, and pretty much anything you'd find at a convenience store. The staff is friendly, attentive, and gives fast service even when extremely busy. Don't think about it.....just come here and see for yourself! Great job Downstairs! My old after-work stomping ground for a quick sandwich. Just came here for the first time after a few years and it feels like I never left. Staff recognized me immediately and even asked me if I wanted my usual lechón (roast pork) sandwich. Most of the sandwiches use Boar's Head brand cold cuts, so the taste is amazing. Good combinations, especially the beef pastrami and the roast beef sandwiches. But I've always been partial to the lechón sandwich. Make a custom one - get it with Muenster cheese, spicy mango jelly, Chipotle sauce, spinach, onions and mayo, and I guarantee you won't regret it. Y'all remember the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears right? You know, the too hot, too cold, just right deal? A lot of places here serve soup to a temperature that requires having the Miami Fire Department on speed dial. Just because it's 60 degrees and I need soup to warm up doesn't mean I want to get third degree burns. Here's where Stop and Shop picks up it's 5th star. These days of freezing temperatures in Miami I have actually had to partake in soups. Today, for example, I had the chicken noodle soup. (Their soup selections vary daily, and they usually have two choices). The soup container is generous both in terms of volume, and the contents itself as the soup is hearty, has plenty of actual chicken pieces, and veggies in addition to noodles. And the soup was at the JUST RIGHT temperature! Of course, they're also known for their sandwiches and in addition to the honey ham one I've had prior, I've also gotten to enjoy the honey turkey and buffalo chicken ones. As usual, the pieces of ham are plentiful and they have my craved-for red peppers! Since I had to get back to my 9-to-7 I couldn't sample the beers just yet but did stroll around the store and saw the selection is plentiful. BINGO! This is what Yelp! is about. How many times have i driven past this place and never even thought to glance in that direction. Even with the GPS/map I was still unsure. Really? This place? Seriously? YUP!!!!!! The reviews are right on target. There was a bit of a line as the one lady behind the counter methodically put together each sandwich. A factory line, it is not. The line grew behind me as I scanned the menu board. Hmmmm, Boar's Head has BBQ Brisket, now that sounds interesting. Brisket, with coleslaw, gouda and French bread, I'm in! What I liked: a diverse but not ridiculous or pretentious menu. (someone here likes to eat, I suspect) Boar's Head, sliced when you order, customized sandwich (ok, that is not remarkable but nice) and best of all ...........Ohhhh, very very tasty! What might be a turn off for some.....don't look like it would be a sandwich shop even as you walk up to the door (but hey, that's why we are Yelpers), One lady behind the counter moving at a modest pace. Extra credit points (and what puts it in a bonafide Yelp 5 star) an awesome selection of beer and wine, a sandwich of the month at a very reasonable price and ......wait for it....... FIVE STAR DELI AND MORE!!!! These guys make the best subs in South Florida. This is NOT your typical convenience store which just happens to sell sandwiches. This is a legitimate full size Deli & Bakery, which just happens to be located inside of a (incredible) convenience store. I believe a great sub starts with the bread. Some places bake all of their bread very early in the morning. At Downstairs I always see them pulling out small batches of banquettes, fresh from their oven throughout the entire day. Besides the banquette and Italian Hoagie which are my personal favorites, they also have whole wheat, Cuban and a few more which I haven't tried. Then comes the quality of their cold cuts, meats and cheeses. They only use BOARS HEAD and everything is sliced right there in front of you. Besides having all the traditional deli staples such as Pastrami, Corned Beef, Roast Beef, Honey Glazed Ham, Oven Roasted Turkey etc, you will also find some Boars Head specialties like Cajun Turkey Breast and Jerk Turkey. They have a large selection of fresh vegetables and toppings to choose from if you want to make your own "custom" sub. I recommend choosing one of their 15 or so "signature" subs which are listed on the board right above the counter. My top 5 subs, in no particular order, is the Brisket with cole slaw & BBQ sauce on a baguette; the Reuben; the Prosciutto di Parma with mozzarella & olive oil; the Spanish Chorizo; and the Pastrami (either hot or cold). I always see 2 or 3 people working the deli, I guess that's what keeps the short line constantly moving. I highly recommend you check them out next time your in the mood for a true deli style sandwich. I've also been to some of their other Downstairs locations and the deli quality is consistent. I believe they are all family owned & operated. They also have a VERY impressive selection of craft beer. TIP: Next time your having friends over the house for a get together or to watch a game, buy a few different 12" subs and tell them to cut each sub into 5 or 6 pieces. Toothpicks, five dollar wine and a Boar's head sub are just some of the many things I've brought to the checkout counter here. Located within walking distance of my house, I didn't immediately realize how much I would come to rely and love on this place. Open at all hours of the day, it is my go-to spot whenever I need to pick up some alcohol (they have a shopping cart with 50% off wines!), a quick lunch or anything completely random. Sometimes I get lost perusing the aisles whilst deciding what kind of new wine or beer to try. The people working here are always very helpful and friendly. I unfortunately am moving in May but you can bet that this place will be a major selling point to the future homeowners! read more

The food is good and the beer selection is bomb, but I rate this place two stars due to the service. There have been numerous times where my order was prepared wrong and nothing was done to fix it. When they put in the electronic order kiosk, I thought this would make things more clear, but during low flow times it creates confusion. My recent experience left me paying for an extra sandwich because they made a 12" instead of a 6" and looked at me like I was the one who made the mistake. This means I paid $20 for a sandwich when the difference in price is only a few bucks. Make sure you watch when they make your sandwich and speak up when it's not done correctly. read more

I think I've passed by this convenience store like a million times but I always thought it was just that until I saw it on yelp. The sandwiches looked delicious so I decided to give it a try. The store itself is like an upscale gas station with a wider selection of food and beverages. The staff was very friendly especially the Cuban lady behind the deli counter. I ordered an Italian wrap and it was amazing. Same as a publix wrap, very fresh. The wrap and a drink cost me about $8 which was very reasonable. I'd definitely come back again for a quick bite when I'm in the area. It's also a great idea to pick up a few sandwiches here before going out on the boat! read more

Another Beer Heaven---obviously, there IS a God! Upon drinking all of the beer from the other Stop-N-Shop BEFORE getting it to where it had to go, my friend's house in the Grove, I made a quick stop at this location in hopes that they too would have a great selection of brews.....and they did! Although not as vast of a selection as the store by UM, this location has plenty of craft beers to choose from. They also have a large wine and bubbly section as well as a Boar's Head deli. Thanks to this Stop-N-Shop I was able to show up to my friends' house with my hands full of delicious beer and they never even found out about the original ones I had imbibed prior to my arrival....unless of course they are reading this review now (Hi, guys.)..... read more

Sleeper sandwich hit right here. This place and El Carajo over on SW 17th have the local market cornered on the secret upscale convenience store thing. It's like if 7-11 was owned by Whole Foods in an alternate-reality Miami timeline that may or may not be rapidly converging with our own. Fantastic sandwiches in multiple sizes (you can get a 10" instead of 12" if you possess the self-control to regulate your diet to that level of specificity), extensive selection of craft beer, a bunch of chocolates I can't pronounce, like three kinds of pre-bottled cold brew coffee...but also cafe con leche and empanadas, because hey remember we're still in that alternate universe. Sometimes a long line for the lunch rush and not a ton of parking. Also I did not see any stairs but that should not be a dealbreaker. read more

To start, the convenience store itself is nice, clean and has a ton of options of everything, chips, sodas, waters, beers, snacks etc. I'm specifically impressed by their craft beer selection, it's huge! The employees are all very nice and well mannered which is a nice surprise for a convenience store of this size. Now let's get to real reason I decided to review this place... the sandwich. I ordered the prosciutto sandwich which comes with Boarshead prosciutto, real mozzarella cheese (not like the sliced store bought deli cheese), balsamic vinegar, oil and basil. I added spinach and spicy mustard to it and holy moly. I seriously can't process how I bought this from a convenience store! The meats and cheese, even the bread is super fresh. I overestimated my appetite and got the medium 9inch (also offer 6inch or 12inch) and you definitely get your bang for your buck here! They don't skimp on the meat or toppings and again, very very fresh! I'm seriously impressed! The pricing is great too, they have a monthly sandwich special at a discounted rate and even the prosciutto sandwich (being that's it's prosciutto and real mozzarella) was a great price at 8.99. Being a coral gables local, this place is a gem and I am so glad I found it. This will definitely be a staple lunch spot for quick sandwiches or soups. Like the Ponce location, there's more to this convenience store than meets the eye. It has convenience store-standards, sure, but the main attractions here are the deli, and the beer & wine. It doesn't have quite the beer selection of the Ponce location in that you don't get the more rare, special-release bottles, but there's still enough of a selection of craft beer as to make it worthy of a beer run. I had to buy beer this morning before the Dolphins game - I know Whole Foods refuses to sell me beer on Sunday morning, but I stopped by this store, and it delivered the goods. I've been a long time resident to the area and this was my go to place. I used to love about 8 blocks away from this place and haven't been back for a couple months. I used go brag to people that this was the best convenience store. Great sandwiches, beer selection, wine, friendly staff. It has gone down hill. The loud and incompetent staff must be new. I've never seen them before. It took all 3 of them to figure out how to ring me up and make me a sandwich. I'm actually still waiting for it....the guy that's still ringing me up looks like he's never seen a register before...he has ringed me up 3 times and each one him and his team of geniuses scream to each other to try and figure it out. Great sandwiches that are made-to-order with all the greatness that comes along with a Boar's Head sub alongside an extremely varied beer and wine selection for your liking. Most of the bubbly in the cooler is pricey but you'll find the Ruffino to be a great tasting prosecco that doesn't take forever to pick up. Located on the southeastern corner of LeJeune & US1, these folks bank from me always picking up craft beer & bubbly before getting to my cousins house in the corner. The beer is sold by the bottle or in your traditional 6 or 12 packs. I've come here multiple times and while it a bit overpriced, the convenience of being in and out of the store in two minutes is worth the extra bucks. It's basically the only way of getting a Sub that can stand up to par with the ones we get at publix. If you call ahead of time, they might be able to facilitate your order. Everyone is really friendly and the amount of selection and quality I find here makes me choose this spot for good when I'm in the area. read more

First review on Yelp, and I'm happy to report that it's going to be a positive one. Hungry getting out class yesterday, did a quick search for any sandwich places in the area, and decided to give Stop N' Shop a try after reading some of the reviews on here. It's fairly unassuming convenience store located right off US-1, and it can be a hassle to fight traffic to get there if you go during lunch rush hour like I did. However, the parking lot has a fair number of parking spaces, and it's a nice enough building from the outside, although I wouldn't normally look at it and think to myself, "Now there's a place I would go for a meal!" And here is where the experience totally changes from the minute walking in the doors. First thing to greet you is the smell. Freshly baked bread, toasted cheese, and a generally welcoming aura hit you as you waltz in, experiencing what borders on shell-shock as the outside appearance belays the treats inside. The second thing to notice is the general cleanliness of the place. Convenience stores are not the cleanest places in the world, and especially ones that have the layout of a traditional gas station (minus the pumps). Here though, the floor is clean, the counters spotless, the lighting bright, and the counters and chairs inviting. A close third is the smiling faces and greetings you receive when you come in. The cashier, owner, and sandwich ladies are pleasant, if not downright friendly. As a first-time customer there and of Hog's Head sandwiches in general, the lady behind the counter smiled and gave advice when I asked about the different sandwiches they offered. Attentive to detail and eager to please, she assembled my traditional Cuban exactly to specifications. The cashier was quick to apply the discount for Yelp users, and very efficient in ringing up the meal with my beer selection. The beer selection they have is one of the best I've seen outside a specialty liquor store, and I love the concept of creating your own six-pack. The wine racks are nothing to sneeze at as well, and everything was well-stocked and organized. As far as the sandwich itself, well to say the least I won't be going to Subway anymore, even though it means a ten minute drive from campus when there's a Subway located right in the law school. Delicious, fresh, and filling; I've found my place for lunch food for the next couple weeks. This place has everything you can ask for and more. By more I mean you can come here late night and they will be open. The have a great selection of wines and beers. It's hard to find a place that had my favorite which is Albariño and it was stunning to find it here at a convenience store. This location also has a sub station which is also very convenient. I found everything I needed in here .... In a short period of time. Which made me realize that it's nearly positioned where you would normally shop for things in sections. Come here if you need to get your craft beer party on or are picky about your wine. You don't want yellow tail? Well, they have selection of other wines here. I don't know why people are so crazy about publix subs, the subs at Downstairs blow them away. They have a full selection of boars head meats, better bread, a better selection of veggies and way more condiments. Publix should have all that, since it is a grocery store, but they don't. Downstairs also has an amazing wine and beer selection. Their craft beers rival yard house and world of beer in quality. I would've given 5 stars but as it is a convenient store it's other basic things like milk and juice are hugely marked up. read more

This place has a sign that says "food store" and looks sketchy - but the reviews are great. I had a turkey sandwich and my husband had a Serrano ham sandwich that had so much ham on it I could not believe that he was able to eat it. It also had fig jam on it and arugula- 2 things you would not expect to find in a place that looks like this. I highly recommend this place and it is halfway between the Fairchild gardens and Key Biscyane so it was perfect to grab a quick sando on our way to the beach. If you are nearby- the sandwiches are really good and very reasonable for the level of sophistication. This does not look like a good sandwich place at all- but they did a good job. read more

The owners really brought this place up from Circle K a few years back. This is a clean convenience store with delicious sandwiches and salads in their deli and fresh foods area. Their breakfast sandwiches are to die for and their subs are amazing as well. You can add a wide variety of toppings and dressings to your food to customize it. They also have a great selection of beer here, but it is a bit overpriced. It's probably because it's right next to a college campus ;P read more

I stop in here from time to time to pick up a sub sandwich. Their deli offers Boars' Head and the subs are pretty good. The deli also makes good bfast subs and offer pastelitos and cuban coffee in the mornings. I used to work late nights in the Miracle Mile area and Stop N' Shop was always on my way home. After a long day of work I would always stop in for a Gatorade or water for my drive home. I always marveled at the huge selection of craft beers and wines in this unassuming convenience store. Unfortunately, I always looked longingly at their Boar's Head sandwich counter, which was always closed during my late hour visits. However, I am glad to report that on Wednesday through Saturday the Boars Head deli is now open 24 hours! On my trip home from South Beach this past Wednesday I was finally able to order a sandwich and man was it good! I opted to go with one of their new sandwiches, the chipotle mango chicken on wheat (they bake all of the bread for their subs in store by the way!). Sliced Boars Head chipotle chicken breast was liberally laid down on top of chipotle Gouda cheese, mango butter (more like a mango chutney), tomatoes, FRESH whole cilantro, roasted red peppers and mayo. The sandwich was topped with a drizzle of lime juice, and a magical sandwich had been born! I have been thinking about this sandwich all week, and cannot wait to order more from their menu.
