This is a gem! Old Miami at its finest. In business in the same spot since 1972, it's a wonderful capsule of German cuisine. The owner is warm and friendly; and absolute pleasure! While I was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve pastrami, the corned beef on rye was delicious! My husband had the roast beef and loved it. We stopped by this place because my husband has a hankering for pastrami. Sadly, the owner Olga explained to us that currently they do not carry it, but we decided to try some of the sandwiches anyway. Olga is super nice and patiently answered our questions, explaining the different "wurst" and all the new and exciting (to me) grocery items they carry. She apologized that some stocks are low or out due to COVID, but there are still plenty of products that look interesting. I was excited to see boxes of De Ruijter chocolate sprinkles, which my Dutch friends have introduced to me. While most Americans only use them on ice cream sundaes, over there they are generously sprinkled over buttered toast as part of breakfast - for adults and kids alike! I got a can of Almdudler, a soda from Austria, to go with my knackswurst roll. The sausage is really tasty with a nice snappy casing. As for the sandwich, we ordered corned beef but not sure if that's what we got. There are also delicious looking salads in the case as well. The only down side is there is no sitting area at all, only a two-person table outside, so best to plan on take out. read more

Nice little market. I always walked by this place and wanted to try it until today.... I decided to come in an have a Brat. Bratwurst with sauertkraut and of course... mustard. Excellent served hot wrapped in foil just like in Germany. Add a beer and voila... lunch! Great German beer a premium pilsner. Perfect with my sandwich. This combo was $8.40 Excellent Service is friendly. The market has a few cold cuts and some cheese. Also crusty European style bread and lots of fruit preserves. They have been around for FIFTY YEARS! I know because my friend that I went with has been going there for 40 years and the owner said that the just celebrated year 50. It is a small store, but the shelves have a lot of variety of products from Germany and the surrounding areas. A nice display of sausages and things of the like. It was very good! Seemed very fresh too. I will be adding this to my list of go-to's. It's a small shop with a small menu and takes time for the food to be prepared, but none of this matters to me. A little patience goes a long way. Also, the lady (I believe she is the owner) is the sweetest person I've ever met. She was very helpful and made the experience a pleasure. Nice little family owned deli/store. They sell products such jelly/jam, mustard, candies, cold cuts and many more things from Europe...Germany. Everything seems to be imported and most of the labels are in German (assuming here). They make sandwiches and have different types of cold salads available. We came for the sandwiches. We ordered roast beef on rye which was fresh and delicious. We waited a bit (worth it) since there were a few people before us and just two people tending the store. It seems to be run by the husband and wife (at least that what it seemed) and they have a constant stream of people. They were nice and knew some of the customers by name. There is a table outside for two but the place is not really intended for you to eat there. I thought the prices were fair for all the items they sell. The sandwiches we ordered were $6.95. It is also the first place I've found to have sweet Bavarian mustard. They also have German chocolate and beer. From their deli section I tried the Sweden farmers cheese and it was super tasty! The quality of product is top tier and the prices are honestly a bargain for it being imported goods. The food from the menu is really good , very healthy and home feel type of cooking. Cheryl the owner is the best. She works it mostly by herself but gets the job more than done. Recommend the salads on Saturdays and trying a sandwich on some natural bread while you're there. Back in Colorado, we have our go-to German deli but after landing in South Florida, where oh where do I go? I made it a point to go to Mainzer's today for lunch, since I had time for once and usually am in a rush during the lunch hours. You can't eat inside- just order at the counter and take it with you. I actually work in the area and I wanted to try something different. I opened up the Yelp app and I found this little deli. I completely forgot it was there but I'm glad I didn't this time so I had to go. Let me tell you the reviews are correct. This little place has some of the best deli sandwiches I haven't seen in a long long time. I actually had the corn beef on pumpernickel, lettuce, tomato, onion and mustard. The portions were fantastic and the food is so fresh. The lettuce literally snapped when I took a bite. I had the opportunity of actually talking to the owner and she is such a beautiful lady. Sweet, down to earth, with excellent customer service, and totally friendly. I'm not lying when I say I'm going back here again because it was phenomenal. The portion was fantastic for only $8.99. Unbelievable especially in today's day to have such a fantastic value. The actual deli and grocery has a whole bunch of merchandise that when I'm walking around looking at it it looked great. Large selection of imported German chocolates, sauces, all kinds of wursts, red cabbage, and deli meats. Had the German sub which was pretty good and fresh, but not enough meat in my opinion. The Reuben was also good and fresh, but also lacking in the meat and cheese. However, the various wursts look nice, so I'll probably get a pack at some point. Great place to be and shop for sausages breezes and sandwiches. The place is run by wonderful and great people, the Mainzers and they are so ever friendly and helpful. I go there since many years and was never disappointed with what I bought. As they say: try it you like it Free parking is available. I can only recommend this place! Update: Last year February I went to my favorite store Mainzers where I went shopping for sausages and German chocolates every so often. Then one week end I came and was caughing and I said maybe have the flue which turned out I did not have, landed in the hospital for heart surgery. But the owner asked me to leave and said why are you coming anyway? What a question when I supported this business Simse so many years. I left and never returned. And now a friend of mine German too told me he was treated the same way. Maybe it is time for the owner to say sorry I was too stressed out but when anyone like me or else want to buy something German at a store who advertises German food and get virtually thrown it if the store, long story short, not a good advertisement! They even make yummy deli meat sandwiches, macaroni salad (sells out quick!) they sell all kinds of sausages too! Convenient location on S. Dixie Hwy. is easy to find parking. I recently discovered this gem, and now I visit often. It's a small mom and pop store that sells treats, specialty items from Europe, deli meats and sandwiches. The Bratwurst on a hoagie with sauerkraut is really good, but the Reuben with corned beef, cheese and sauerkraut is my favorite! The potato salad is home made and is delicious and not too creamy at all (which is like I like it). Saturday's is pretzel days and it worth stopping to get a couple. I have not had the chance to try their Strudel, but looking forward to it. When visiting keep in mind that the couple who own the shop do everything themselves, so be patient. They are very nice and don't rush anybody. They have many regulars for a reason. People in Miami are always in a hurry to get nowhere and expect things done fast food style. read more

The more local and slightly smaller German Deli is this great place down on US-1 and 122 at Suniland. The family owned store will make fresh sandwiches and has a good selection of German sausages and other delicacies. They also have some of the staples from home that cannot be found in the local grocery store. Try the Quark (with Nutella on a toast) or just get some deli cut sausages. Germans are know for good bread and this is another item to get while you are here... This store is small but has heart and an amazing selection of German nick nacks...as well as some good Bier! Mainzer's German Deli is the epitome of my sheltered childhood forced by my mother because she doesn't like German food. I, however, love all food, and got to experience many cuisines from around the world once I got to college. Unfortunately, I've been back in Miami 3 years now and didn't know about Mainzer's until goofing around on Yelp. For the record, this isn't a full restaurant; for that you have to go to Fritz and Franz or even further north. Its a small German grocer with a counter and sandwiches are made in the back. They have a variety of sandwiches made to order including bratwurst and knackwurst. You can also get a side of various potato and macaroni salads, or order some meat to go. The lady behind the counter was very nice and helpful, and while I stood around like a deer caught in headlights trying to figure out what waffle cookies I should try, there were a steady stream of other consumers entering the store. I'm planning on going back with some friends to get some more wurst sandwiches, probably some macaroni salad, and reach a consensus on which of the many German chocolates, cookies or gummies we should try. read more
