    Raw sunny side up egg
    Michael B.

Horrible horrible horrible experience. Burned toast, incorrectly prepared and overcooked eggs then raw and cold eggs, steak that was chewy and grisly, sub standard latkes, liquid apple sauce. Shakshuka was ok but half of what it used to be (shallow pan). Do you need to hear more? Moped to see more? Just look at the pix. also they now charge 18% automatically on bill. We will NEVER go back to this restaurant which was a destination for us before. We LOVED it and are now profoundly disappointed. So sad. New management is not co tinging the Josh's Deli high standards. Really, Josh should insist that his name be removed. Looks bad on him.

    Ruben corn Corned Beef Sandwich

Was invited by my friend Esther for my birthday lunch to Josh's deli what a great experience. The Ruben was corn beef all made here fresh. Last time I had such a delicious Ruben was in NYC. Our server is Juan such a pleasant professional young man. He helped us decide with the menu. What a beautiful day today and lunch. Come eat at this hidden gem in Surfside.

    Corned beef hash and eggs

After reading about this place and following the IG account for years, I finally made the pilgrimage to Josh's Deli. A quaint storefront in sunny Surfside, it had limited seating but tremendously innovative deli favorites. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and let me tell you, I'll never be able to eat the canned stuff at a diner again after this experience. My wife got latkes with smoked salmon on top, which was just delectable. Everything here is made carefully and with a creative eye, something those of us who cherish deli staples but seek more will find enticing. If you are feeling adventurous and want to eat Jewish deli food from another (some would say tastier) universe, come to Josh's Deli.

Skimpy slice of pickle along a salty pastrami sandwich (with extra meat)

$88 for a mediocre pastrami sandwich, fries, slaw & 1 can of beer...no tip. That's before mentioning I ordered Shakshuka but eggs were undercooked so I didn't eat it & they took it off the bill. Sadly this will be my final visit. What a distant memory of the delicious place this used to be.

    Cortado and cold brew

I want to know why there isn't a line out the door for this incredible pastrami sandwich! What an absolute gem. We ordered the Ginsberg, which had the most perfect thin pastrami with caramelized onion. An incredible bite!! We also enjoyed the veggie sandwich, with delicious caponata and the jewbanize, which combined pastrami and pork. So good! Also great pickles! We also ordered the granola Greek yogurt (loved the peanut butter chips!) and the chocolate pancake. And since we were there for brunch, we had to order coffee. The cold brew tasted like a chocolate shake somehow. Obsessed! Service was great. Josh himself is back there making orders! And the cafe is small but a cool vibe. I already can't wait to go back! So happy this place exists only 20 mins from my house.

The deli special, Reuben, and any sandwiches with brisket or corned beef and coleslaw are some of our favorites. I got pancakes here once and that's probably the only thing I wouldn't get again... super dry. Stick to the delicious French toast instead. We like the low salt Bagel Bar uses in dishes that other restaurants typically make way too salty. Just good food without needing to hide behind salt. On nice days, the patio gets filled up, but it's often too hot and we're more comfortable inside, either at one of the tables or bar seating. We've also stopped here a few times to grab a matzoh ball soup or baked goods like a fresh baked black & white cookie to go. You can generally expect to pay around $17 per meal, and you can definitely expect to leave completely stuffed, sometimes with leftovers to take home.

The interior looked old and worn out. The good news is they are moving to a new location, across the street in July. Our server was not the most attentive. The restaurant was slow and I had to flag him down or go get him when we needed something, like to-go boxes. Consider that one star a gift to my server Julie who provided nothing but excellent service with a smile on her face. First introductions are everything. My partner and I were dismissed completely by the manager who was too busy chatting it up with solicitors. Not even a simple "I'll be right with you." Julie caught wind of this and immediately swooped in. The menu is pricey but I assumed that the portions would make up for it. This assumption was correct, but my food's presentation was the equivalent to what you'd serve a dog. I ordered the egg salad club with a side of fries; if you're searching for an establishment that cooks with love just leave. The egg salad was unseasoned and I'm unsure that half-smashed boiled eggs constitutes as egg salad. The fries were piled on top as if a tired teenage McDonald's worker was cooking it up in the back. My partner also agreed that their tuna melt was unseasoned. As we were leaving we decided to take a peek at the baked goods. In a final attempt to give this place the benefit of the doubt, we eyed a delectable looking chocolate chip cookie. I called over the employee behind the bakery counter to which she begrudgingly trudged on over. I took another look at the display to solidify what I wanted, but I noticed something unappetizing. FLIES. Not one fly, multiple flies having their way with the baked goods. We told her never mind and left the establishment. Never again will I step foot in this atrocity.

Maybe While also reinforcing loud conversations or cell phone use isn't allowed? Perhaps there's something I'm missing here. Besides that, both meals I've had here were meh. The service was non existent and cold, dismissive. I don't believe the server, a woman, spoke a word to me. I walked in, she came over and gave me a menu. I flagged her over to place my order, still no words, and had to flag her over to ask for water. The meek portion of soup was bland with an over powerful taste of cilantro with an unbalanced taste of quinoa with a few shreds of chicken. Upon finishing the soup, she cleared table, without words, didn't ask if I wanted anything else nor provided the check and my water was empty. I stayed awhile, wondered if I'd get a check or there was something else I was expected to do which I figured out after the man at another table went to the desk to pay. Being a local, I'd love to enjoy this experience but I'm not sure how this place keeps its doors open if this is what the experience is like. The only extra star is for the true feel of a cafe and ambiance but that's all I can speak for.
