I used to go to the Army armory Across the street in the mid-90's. I always remembered these being great sandwiches, but sometimes your memories fail you and you have a fondness of a time and place that can't be revisited. This was not one of those times. I haven't been here in about 25 years. I'm not sure if the owners have remained the same. According to my memory it was almost exactly as I remembered. Only nicer. They used to have Formica countertops, now granite! Nice new tables. With more seating than I remembered. I took my Godmother and when she saw the wrap around line she was disappointed! I said "Mom, just wait, if I remember correctly this place is a well oiled machine!" When we walked in there were about 30 people in line ahead of us. We weaved through that line in 10 mins tops! They have a HUGE variety of sandwich options. The prices are very fair. It's in a bit of a dicey neighborhood. But we struck up conversation with several people in line in front and behind us and everyone we met were cooler than the other side of the pillow. Most of them were regulars, and made some interesting suggestions. I bet you could eat there a hundred times and never have the same sandwich twice. I got a large steak, mushrooms, onions and cheese with tomatoes and papitas. Mom got a small chicken fajita sub. I got a bag of Zapps Voodoo chips. And we got two fountain sodas. $24 total. It's worth the trip if you're at Jackson Memorial or find yourself over that way and looking for an adventure. read more

Small place. Went around 1 pm during the weekend and line was long, was very hectic and unorganized. The employees just yell down the line at you and ask you want you want - be prepared to likely scream back and forth as they ask you multiple questions about your order from relatively far away. The whole process for ordering is sort of terrible. Saw tons of orders getting confused and customers/employees getting frustrated. A lot of tables in the small space so you're able to eat there if you want, or take it to go. We ate in restaurant which was fine and probably a little more fresh/hot. Sandwiches are relatively plain in flavor, even if you add a bunch of toppings. Flavor is good - just doesn't knock your socks off, per se. The large is plenty enough to split between two people, unless you have a huge appetite. Place has been there for years. I hadn't gone in a bit, but was close by so decided to go. The staff / owners are very friendly. Place looked the same but was very clean. The bathroom was out of order when I went, but I did hear them talking about the plumber was going by soon. I was very disappointed with the bread. There was a lot of bread compared to the meat. Several Miami locals have named this spot the "best subs in the city." I quickly stopped by to grab a buffalo chicken sub. There is a huge menu to choose from! You can watch them cook your protein and build your sub in front of you. However, their toppings are limited and you occasionally have to raise your voice to be heard over all the cooking commotion. My sub was so saucy that the bread was wet by the time I got home. The sub was pretty salty, so I wish there were more vegetables to balance it out. I've been going to Subs on the Run since they were in Dominion Towers on 14th St. The steak and cheese has always been my favorite and it's a must try. They get SUPER busy around lunchtime so try to avoid going between 12pm-2pm or you'll run into a line of 15-25 people waiting for a sub. Unfortunately, when it's busy like this, they also don't answer the phone for pick-up orders. The good news is the food is delicious, inexpensive, and somewhat quick if you don't run into one of those lines I just mentioned. They don't have a to-go menu which is strange for any restaurant offering takeout, and the menu they have online does not have updated prices. It's a local place that any and everyone in the area has heard about, and it's worth trying.
