Originally went here due to its proximity to my hotel while in Doral for business, but ended up coming back 2 more times as food and service were outstanding. I have ordered so many different types of foods from this restaurant. I used to order, especially for a previous employer. We would do luncheon and holidays with them, amazing! They have such a big variety of food and what's incredible is that their prices are really good and the food is absolutely excellent. It's really authentic and taste really good. What's also really good about them is that they're really consistent in their quality of food. I haven't had a bad plate from them and that says a lot because I've ordered many times from them as well as a variety of foods from them. So I do highly recommend. read more

Food is fair I ordered the vaca frita white rice black beans and a side of plantains. I'm all was $25 including tip. I will give the food a 3.5 stars it was alright a little expensive for the type of restaurant. There are a lot of tables and a bar they also have a counter that you can sit and eat and a window. The tables are disorganized and some are broken and worn out seats as you see in the picture. I would come back and I've eaten here but they should do something about the chairs and table. read more

Tropical is located in a not so busy shopping center. I decided to give it a try since I'm always driving by while i go to Sams Club which is on the way. Staff was nice and inside was clean & really quite. My eggs were over cooked as you can see in the pic but the steak was pretty flavorful. Their "special potatoes was nothing special. Food was brought out cold also which was disappointing. The steak sandwich was ok, again nothing special about it. To end this first experience at El Tropico - there was a 10% discount off $20 or more on the Yelp app and they did not honor it. One of the waitresses who was very nice btw told me this offer was an old offer and was no longer available but it is clearly still on the app. I didn't make a big deal but restaurants should honor any specials that is on either their website on the Yelp App. read more

This place has the same menu and the same environment for over a decade. But l meant the same physical menu, so it looks like crap for the long miles! The food is ok, fast Latin food and they are friendly while don't expect anything other than a fast lunch during your work's break or if your doing something in the area... Unfortunately the service is slow which may be an inconvenience for those in a tied schedule. I like the option to switch the bread for "arepitas", and thanks to Yelp I got S free order of cheese sticks which I was expecting only one or two but there was like seven! I'm not one that likes to write a bad review, so I'm writing a suggestion to the Manager so that he can look into this. I stop by the window to get coffee once in a while and on several occasions the lady goes to the back to charge me and does not come back with the change. Because of the situation we are in I just leave but it's turn out to be everyone I go the same thing happens. The other day I gave her $5 and I waited, all of a sudden I see her les info and I said excuse me where is my change, to which she replied, ohh someone will be here with your change, I had to claim it in order to get it. Today I was there with a gentleman that was very upset with the service and commented on the same issue I was having. I love the food at this place. I probably go 2-3 times a week as it is next to my office. They have specials during the week. My fav: Monday: Lentils Tuesday: chicken medallions with mushrooms sauce Wednesday: lomo saltado ... They have a big menu and pretty much everything is delicious. I have also ordered catering for my office. It was just perfect and on time even was raining so hard. Also they have a buffet and all you can drink mimosas on Sundays. I've never been, but I will! The menu in line does not represent what is available and some price special like today' Rabo encendido, shown on the menu for $20.98 I was told I had to pay $28.98, in addition, there are differences on every item on price and ingredients...We DO NIT LIVE IN A THIRD WIRLD COUNTRY... You don't have the proper ingredients to what you do serve. I order a media noche and you come to tell me you don't even have the proper potato bread for the media noche and that you need to put it in Cuban bread. I came here on a whim with a localflavor coupon I bought. On my arrival they still had their Sunday breakfast buffet option available. Adults 10.00, kids 5.00. Adults receive one mimosa and one Cuban coffee with milk per person. What a great deal! The buffet includes breakfast and lunch options available until 2pm. They had croquetas, mini arepas, scrambled ham and eggs, pancakes, ropa vieja, white rice, pork steak, chicken soup, black bean soup, fruits, yogurt, pound cake, croissants, I am missing quite a few things but you get the idea. Food was good. They even did fresh fried eggs when we asked because the ones in the buffet bin were sitting there for a while. The eggs were not bad per say but just sitting in there looking a little stale. I actually ate one of the ones inside the buffet bin and a fresh one. The fresh one, obviously, tasted better. Service was great I have no complaints in that area. Although this particular Sunday that we came in it was not busy at all. We are not usually in this area, but for a deal like this and good food I will definitely be returning. Next time I am coming with the whole familia! read more

Ordered the Cordon Bleu Chicken with Boiled Yuca and Moro Rice as my 2 sides. Ugh - so delicious! The boiled yuca was the perfect consistency, it comes with a delicious mojo dressing - I am in heaven! The chicken had a crunchy outside layer, and it was topped with a delectable mushroom sauce. Solid place for walk up cheap Calle 8-style Cuban coffee (Bustelo, nothing fancy) in a relative coffee desert of Doral. Did not try the empanadas but had breakfast with a colleague, great huevos revueltos with cheese. Super inexpensive, fast service. What more do you want from a place like that? Update: This is a serviceable Cuban restaurant and a great place to get cafecitos in an otherwise desert of good places to eat and grab coffee. Coffee stand outside is fast, perfectly fine if all you want is the standard Cuban colada or Cortadito made with Bustelo, it's just like Little Havana. I've been here for breakfast and a quick business lunch and they do a good job with standards like picadillo, ropa vieja and arroz con pollo. Don't expect it to be Versailles or La Carreta but you can do much worse in this part of Doral. read more

This place is good for a quick lunch or maybe if you are lazy on a Sunday morning, come by and have an egg white omelet with a cafe con leche, this will definitely set you up. What a disrespectful action on the Cuban capital if the USA, my tropical sandwich had one single slide if the same ham and a shivered slice of chorizo...WE CAN NOT FORGET AND WILL NOT SUPPORT OR VISIT THEM AGAIN.... the dish of the day was "Rabo encendido", we ordered one to go, the price on the menu was $20, but, we were charged $28. I asked the waiter, she told me that all prices shown on the menu are supposed to changed without previous notice...she did not speak English at all, it did not affect me because I speak both languages , but, I did remind her that there are laws to protect the consumers and we are not in a third world nation. I have retired and have plenty of time in my hands, I will pursuit all necessary actions to make sure that other people do not face the mental cruelty that I went through today, please....DO NOT GO THERE...!!! The truth is that when I want to eat good home-style seasoning and as always here, most of the time for my work I have to eat in my ofc so I called and they bring no additional cost. What I like is their neegros beans or black beans .. truth are divine! red meats in general are very good, my husband is Uruguayan and says it's the best steak I've eaten at Doral, the fish is divine chicharron and have a salad called Killing the truth this rich ... We've been here about 3 times for breakfast and it is really good! The scrambled eggs are delicious and I found out that on Sunday's they have a decent brunch. It is low key style but it is affordable and the croquetas are better than the ones you order à la carte. Delicious cafe con leche, and tostada! Service is ok, I never had any major problem, other than sometimes when it is crowded, it is obvious he'll take a few more minutes to come see you, but it's fine. Breakfast was what we would usually eat here. It was just OK. The omelet was always pretty greasy although the coffee and toast was good. For lunches I was never too impressed. Anything fried tasted like it had been fried in the same oil over and over again, it has that 'old pig fat' taste. Amazing coffee, great service, and excellent food for a great price. We are English-speaking and they were so accommodating to work with us and sent us over a waitress that spoke English. My daughter ordered the skirt steak my wife ordered the Cuban and my daughter ordered a chicken sandwich. Everything was fantastic. I agree with Gus and J.L. this is definitely a good stop for a quick breakfast and a mid-day lunch as there is definitely a lack of suitable eateries in this area due to it being primarily of use to industry and office environments. I probably eat here on average a couple of times a month at least on business, so my meal is comped about half of the time (yup, I have great clients! Yay!). But when I really want to choose a more, how would I describe it, "dynamic" an establishment, I'll head over a bit further west and hit the primary spots in Doral or head out to Dolphin Mall for a few diggs that are there. Four of us stopped by for a quick lunch before a business meeting. Unlike the experience of others our service was fine. I'm not a Cuban food expert but my dining partners said the food was very good and authentic. Our lunch entrees were 2 shredded beef, beef tongue, and chicken. All three were very good and spiced very nicely. The beef tongue was fantastic, tender and almost melt in your mouth good. Finishing my meal with a Cuban coffee was a nice ending to a good meal. If there are better Cuban restaurants in the area I am open to suggestions for my next visit. read more

I was treated to lunch here once but it was not a treat at all. The Cuban sandwich was terrible. It was cold, the bread was a bit stale and very flaky, the side choices weren't good and the plantain chips I got were nothing but a pile of crumbs, finally, because my sandwich was so dry and about 70% bread I asked for mustard but the gave me old packets that were hard brown mush. We came in around 11:35 on a Friday, a little before what I thought would be the lunch rush. It took over 40 minutes to be served food & our order was incomplete. I asked the waitress to swap out my iced tea for a cafe con leche, turns out I didn't like either one and those are my two favorite drinks... the food was ok, but we never got our sides. Our waitress must've quit or gotten fired during our meal, because we never saw her after placing our order and getting our drinks. The takeout menu says "under new administration" ummm, the new administration isn't all that great. It is now 12:48 and I'm still waiting for someone to check on us so we can get the bill.
