I was there yesterday searching for a product and I asked if hair perfume would be in the hair section or near perfume. The sephora employee told me hair and rolled her eyes like I should just know where everything is. I browsed the hair area and felt very discombobulated. They've rearranged some since I was in there last. I go up to her one more time and tell her I wasn't able to find it and she tells me: "Well we don't have it then." - Her tone was the eyeroll this time. Some of the other employees were free and within hearing distance but they didn't offer to assist me. They were standing around waiting for the store to close in the next 20 minutes. Screw that! Been here twice. The Ventura one is waaaay bigger and waaaay better. The staff wasn't accommodating vs Ventura.the place is so tiny and they don't really have everything I need. Although one of the ladies I noticed was watching me like I was going to steal something. Which gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Pissed me off. So she tried to as me questions that she didn't think I would answer on "fresh" products. After I told her I have a couple of the products and what I loved about them she didn't have much to say and just gave me a snobby look. So I smiled and said "thanks anyway." Never going back. I scheduled the last two appointments they had available for Aug 9, Saturday on the phone with Hayley about a month ago. I was told on the phone that 12:15pm and 12:30pm slots were booked for us. When we showed up at the mall at 11am on Saturday, we were told that our appointments were at 12:30pm and 3:15pm. I immediately said that we had 2 back to back slots booked because we needed to be out of there a certain time. We just showed up early because other family members were getting their makeup done at MAC inside Nordstrom. The employees I was talking to, a tall male with pierced ears and a female who seemed to be the manager on duty, they both rudely insisted that our appointments were at 12:30pm and 3:15pm. They even said that it is impossible to book time slots like that on their system. I don't care how their system works, I care about the fact that I was given the wrong information by their employee and they should rectify it (w/o giving me an attitude). After being firm and adamant that we cannot make the 3:15pm slot and had to get done at an earlier time, the manager on duty budged and asked Lauren to start on one of us. Lauren was the only saving grace for this experience She was very sweet and apologetic about the mix-up. She was also very talented and knowledgeable. She was able to replicate the look on the picture that was shown. My mom loved her work so much, she ended up buying almost all of the products she used. Sadly, I was given Talia to do my makeup. She was sweet and nice, but did not want to listen to my specific needs. I am very particular with the products I use for a reason...They work on me best! I sensed that she really wanted to try other products, so I indulged her a little bit. Towards the end when the lipstick brand and shade she pulled for me did not look good. I specifically said that I want to change it because it clashes with what I am wearing. She got annoyed and impatient with me and started to get really sloppy. I had to clean up the lip liner and lipstick she applied because she decided to make my mouth bigger. Overall, internal mistakes should not be blamed on clients and artists should listen to their customers instead of insisting on products they personally love. I asked an associate who appeared to look like a team lead/manager if they had and I mentioned the app said it was in stock. She said oh maybe we have it, but we're not allowed to bring it out. I was assisted by Kevin, who made my experience so delightful and made my day better. I was looking for a makeover for an anniversary date and I was pretty much ignored by other staff. But this lady with mid red hair, had the most sweetest personality and tried to make my day better, so she schedule me an appointment with their best make up artist in the store! who is Kevin. He is a genius and over qualified for Sephora. He is such as asset to the team. He just didn't give a make-up look for one night, he taught me tricks and recommend products that would match my skin tone. I would definitely recommend him to every one of my friends and family! read more

This review is for Chelsea!! I met Chelsea a couple days after Christmas when my dad decided to take me to Sephora to buy some new makeup. The first Sephora employee that tried to help us seemed unsure and not very confident. Therefore, making me feel unconfident regarding the makeup. My dad and I still decided to buy something and as we were checking out we asked the manager about making an appointment. We figured they were busy and maybe that is why the first associate couldn't offer her full attention. The manager, set everything aside and called Chelsea. Chelsea helped me from face, to brows, to lips, everything!!! I told her I wanted to come back again just to understand how to really apply everything. Again, I made the appointment with Chelsea, and I learned so much. She spent way over the 45 minute time but she was amazing!! And a total sweetheart! GO SEE CHELSEA! read more

I went in earlier today with my best friend to check out the Clinique foundations. I also wanted a lip stain. This girl Chelsea approached us and we ended up chatting about lipsticks and beauty gurus. She was such a delight! She color matched me for the Clinique foundation and I felt so bad asking for a sample cuz the packaging makes it difficult. But she told me not to worry and got me the sample. During the whole color matching, it was like two girlfriends just hanging out. She didn't try to push products on me and even recognized me from my previous visits. I used to work in the mall so I was always in there during breaks. Definitely going to look for Chelsea next time because she was awesome, very attentive and gave me a great experience read more

I always get my makeup done here, and have never been unimpressed with the work. Lately, when I've been going in to buy products, I've encountered some rude ladies. Most recently, I asked if they had a grey shade of lipstick. She looks at me and says, "Well did you look around the store?" I said "I browsed..." and before I could finish she tells me, "Then that means we don't have anything in that shade". I walked out right after she said that. read more

This is the main Sephora that I normally come to but lately their customer service is lacking. I came to exchange a foundation for the second time because I got the wrong shade again (I suck at color matching myself) and the cashier got frustrated at me for not knowing which receipt to scan. Isn't that her job to look at the receipts from when I originally bought it and and then came in and exchanged it the first time? Then she asked me to pay the difference since when I originally bought it I got it during the VIB sale. I was very confused since the first time I came to exchange it, the cashier didn't mention that at all and I wasn't buying anything else. I just needed to get a different shade. The only reason I'm giving them two stars is because a manager said she would honor it and not make me pay the difference. read more

This is a response to Olga's complaint. I am the woman in an orange shirt, however I do not own and orange shirt, so my assumption is the Botox has affected her eyesight as well. The truth about this situation is as follows. Olga was trying to have her boyfriend's account transferred to hers and was told they were unable to do so, she wrote down a number nut the 9 looked like an S and the associate was trying desperately to assist her. Olga continued to be extremely rude to the associate. There were several of us in line watching the entire thing and making comments about how extremely rude she was. She was treating the associate as though she was a pheasant and Olga was too good for her. It was unacceptable treatment by anyone. As she walked away she made a comment that was unnecessary. She immediately went to the manager and complained and would not stop complaining, but of course did not tell the truth. I was consoling the associate that it was not her fault and not to worry about it. As I went to leave 10-15 minutes later, Olga was still yelling and still complaining. As I approached she made reference to me needing Botox (ok I probably do, but don't care). I explained to the manager was really happened and Olga refused to leave. They asked her on several occasions to leave, she would not. She then tried to get her MUCH OLDER boyfriend to defend her as he arrived, and he wanted no part of it, but again, she STILL would not leave. Security was actually called to assist the manager ban have her removed. Security could not remove her but were so nice to escort us out and as we walked by she started yelling again. She was crying playing the victim. She was extremely rude and I am glad she will not be returning to that store. The manager and associates do not need to deal with anybody that treats the staff like that. YES, all of this in Sephora!! This is a fabulous store, we are regulars an always have the best help and the nicest associates and I will continue to spend all of my money in there, hoping they never have to see Olga again! read more

Let me start out by saying I am not a big make up girl and feel clueless/intimidated when it comes to the stuff. This was my first appointment at Sephora and wow Kevin made my experience amazing. I wanted to get some new foundation and I wanted to get my make up done for a wedding hoping to practice and do it myself. He was so great. Made me feel totally comfortable and showed me every step along the way. He even reviewed with me and wrote it down. I forgot to get the BB cream and I went back two days later and he even remembered my shade and went a got it for me. He was super friendly, easy going, and made me feel so comfortable. I have never been so disappointed as I was today. I walked in and no one greeted me as I browsed a few new displays no one cared to ask if I needed help even tho the store was pretty much empty except for maybe 4 other customers. I truly just went to get the tatcha primer so at first it didn't bother me that no one asked me for help that was until I was unable to find the primer and was trying to get someone if they had the primer in under stock or in the back. No one came I quickly asked one of the employees as she rushed past me to get to the customer that was a few feet away from she informed me she'd ask someone to check and never came back. I waited for about 5 minutes browsing skin care hoping someone would come back with an answer or willing to help me but no one ever did so I left. I'm not sure if it was cause I literally walked in with a sweatshirt, my hair in a messy bun and no makeup on that made them feel I wasn't important to help or even acknowledge but that is the last time I visit this store. read more

I went here to get my makeup done before a formal and they were so sweet! One of the workers helped me find some cute false lashes, and gave genuine suggestions instead of just pointing me towards the most expensive ones. I forgot her name, but the manager was super sweet and helpful. Chelsea did my makeup and she was so kind and patient the entire time. She also did a great job!! A lot of the sephora's that I have been to aren't super friendly so I was hesitant to come in here to get my makeup done, but I'm so glad I did! I definitely recommend coming to this sephora location for anything! I live in Ventura, but will definitely be making the drive to Thousand Oaks from now. Thank you Chelsea!!! read more

I've been to this Sephora a few times. I'm not going to judge too much on the store because its like any other Sephora, maybe slightly smaller. The reason I give it such a low rating is because the employees there have been horrible, every single experience. I'll list 3 experiences. The first time I went in to try a new foundation. It took me 5 minutes to find someone there who could help me match a foundation. Well when she finally sat me down and DID do the application, the match was a TOTAL FAIL. I wouldn't mind TOO much but shes the one who suggested MUFE as if she was really familiar with the brand. Fail. Second time I went in cause I had a voucher for a free Bare Minerals sample. I just walked up to the counter and said like "Hi I have this voucher, I'm pretty sure I'm like a medium-beige." The women goes "No I'm pretty sure you're fairly light" I looked at her with a grimace, but trusted her. When I saw her turn around to grab the sample, I saw that there were almost none left and that there was only like 3 boxes of different shade samples and she just gave me that cause it didn't match. Ugh. 3rd experience was the clipper. I went in because I wanted to try a Nars foundation and was set on buying one. I sampled them out myself but decided i needed help before applying 10 different shades of foundation on my face. I stood around for LITERALLY 10 minutes waiting to see an employee. All there was was the 2 counter workers, and ONE floor worker that would avoid me at all costs. SO I just walked up to the counter and politely asked "Is it possible if someone can help me match a foundation?" The woman brutely told me "yeah" then talked into her walkie talkie that "theres a woman here who needs help" then she too walked away. Then I never saw her again. I asked the woman who was on the floor if she could help. She said "yeah one sec" then walked away too. I've never had such a bad experience in a Sephora. It's possible that they ALL were having a bad day, but I am just tired of that store and how snoody they are. I'm just going to the Nordstroms makeup counters, or a different mall. read more

I'm usually a huge fan of Sephora. I was with my mom at the mall and decided to run in really quick to return a rollerball perfume. I had it in the original sephora bag. We walked in, and we were instantly bombarded by dark haired woman with horrible makeup. She didn't even greet us and say hello, she just barks "are you going to be exchanging something?" And I said no, just a return. She gives me a look, walks away, and I hear her say something along the lines of "camera, stay near front isle" on her walkie. (loudly, I might add.) Wtf? First of all, I shop here all the time. Second, yes I was wearing work-out attire and no makeup, but I was there with my mother, who is holding her $20,000 handbag and an arm full of Cartier bracelets. Come on. We are not shoplifters for fuck sake. Get a grip. Sure enough we decided to walk around a little, maybe make a purchase/exchange after all, and every 2minutes like CLOCKWORK an associate comes by and asks if we need help. We politely declined every time and noticed the associate kept walking back to the darker haired woman and whispering. Soooo off putting. I'm sure we're not the only people who go to sephora in workout clothes and no makeup and like to play around and have fun with makeup samples. It ended up getting so annoying that we couldn't be left alone for five minutes (because we were carrying a sephora bag with a return in it)- we ended up just doing our return and leaving, disappointed. So, we went to the Sephora in westlake and it was SUCH a better experience. The girls there are so sweet, helpful, but also let you look around and enjoy yourself. My advice, go to the westlake one instead!! read more

I cant believe this crazy lady I was in line when all this happened she was not treated as she is stating she was rude and called the poor cashier dumb for not doing what she wanted I am a witness the cashier was nothing but polite to her these people make me sick claiming she was picked on due to race really can't they come up with anything better than the race card. The staff of this location always make me feel entirely unwelcome. Each time I venture in here to pick something up I end up wishing I had just ordered online instead. You're likely to meet one in four employees that actually don't hold a great amount of disdain for their job. No matter the day of your visit, they will be out of a considerable portion of their products. Tons and tons of teenagers pushing and shoving you. The service at this Sephora is terrible. The salespeople are more interested in socializing among themselves than assisting customers. This has happened to me twice at that location. Normally other locations have sales people at the entrance to greet and assist customers - not at this location. Here they gather in groups talking among themselves. (Being I'm 8months pregnant I know I won't have the same free time to run errands once the baby is born) Clearly the store was being visited by district and regional managers. However due to the visit the customer service failed to be present. After waiting more than half an hour for someone to help me match a concealer, I ended up leaving and purchased nothing. If you are going to shop there be prepared to wait around because clearly customer service is not a priority to them. read more

The ladies who work there are all very attentive and always help me find what ever I am looking for .. Yesterday, I had scheduled an appointment with Heather in the Thousand Oaks location. She was one of the best makeup artists I have had the pleasure of getting my makeup done by. She was extremely courteous and made sure I loved everything that she did with my makeup. Me being the question type, I threw at least a thousand questions at her and she answered each one in depth without seeming annoyed. (I probably would of gone crazy if somebody did the same to me ). As far as how my makeup turned out, I give it a 11/10. I explained to her how I was just getting into doing my brows and wearing lipstick, and she showed me how to do everything for the look that I desired. I cannot explain enough how great her service was, and I definitely will come back for her services! :) Definitely recommend her for any makeup occasion! I love Sephora and usually spend too much time and money every time I step into the store. Beauty products are addicting. The customer service at this location needs help. Its hard to find someone to help you out and to make things worse the employees are constantly socializing with each other instead of helping customers. I have taken classes here which are held before the store opens and received amazing service but this is probably because you spend two hours there before getting the chance to shop and there are far fewer people in the store. I would suggest this store if you know exactly what you are looking for, if not, you might not get the help you need. read more

Most of the assistants in this location are very snobbish. Since this location is very close to my house, I usually go there in very plain clothes after grabbing a bite in the food court. Almost every time I was there, nobody bothered to even check on me while greeting to other newly entered customers. Because of their attitude, even if I decided to buy something, I just didn't feel comfortable with making the purchase there. This is not a high-end store like HR, so they really don't need to be that snobbish. Besides, if they want to be that way, they really need be smarter. Apparently, 300 dollar MK bags is more catchy to them than keys to 60k car and 2 million house on hands. read more
