This is my fourth time coming and the staff is horrible. Twice that I have come it has been on my birthday and I ask if they give me gifts and they say yes and I tell them that if they could give mine and they only tell me that nothing appears to them and I told them that I gave them my email and they did not want to accept it, and they already had it and they didn't tell me because the receipt came to my email. I showed from my phone my Sephora account and only the lady said "sorry 'bout that, i don't know". Sandy Morales did a fantastic job with makeup application for professional photos. I showed her pictures of makeup that conveyed the neutral look I knew I could not do for myself. She created the same neutral look for me, as seen in the headshot photos needed. My biggest worry was looking like a completely different person when having my makeup done. So I'm from out of town and got my makeup done for a friend's wedding because 1) I don't know how to put on makeup and 2) it's a wedding and I want to look a lil more done up. I booked a full face appointment (60 mins) two weeks in advance. Even so, I was late by 10 mins but called ahead and Katie was understanding! Now let's talk makeup... I loved it! I noted I'm allergic to a lot of fruits when I booked so Katie kindly double checked on the ingredients in the products. She also nicely and thoroughly explained how to apply products so I can try to recreate the look at home again. She also introduced to me some new products that would aid me in the application because tools make the product. I went for an overall soft glam look with lashes (for an additional fee) and she nailed it! She asked for my input throughout and was initially light on the eyes (I did ask for light eyes), which I appreciated because I just wanted a tinge more color and it was easy to build up. I also have monolids which can be sometimes hard for some people to do makeup for but Katie is an expert! Definitely would come back if I was a local or had another wedding in the area! As I was checking out, the MOD suggested I get a sephora credit card and I got $50 of my order!!!! By far the worst curbside delivery experience ever. We ordered pick up on two items curbside from the store. We were notified they were ready to picked up. We proceeded to the store. Upon arriving at the complete opposite end of the mall where the store is and doing the online pick up registration and description of vehicle. We began waiting, and waiting, waiting waiting We finally called the store. We were rudely told they would call us back in five minutes. Even though, She found the order on her computer under our name under a curbside request. However, because she didn't get a notification that we were here , on her computer. Hence we were calling her. They refused to come out of the store with our product. She said, for the safety of our store and our employees they refused to deliver curbside We Received an abundance of attitude and zero customer service Spoke to them two different times on the phone even though she pulled up our order on her computer and told us -what we had ordered she could not bring it out We had to go park in the mall, three-story parking lot and walk into the store to receive the product. Really frustrating for me when I go into the store and get asked "if I'm doing okay" and " if I'm still doing okay" 5 times each by each employee. I swear the second one was done asking and I was done saying "Im fine" the next one was asking. I ended up just leaving because I can't even look around and have a nice time shopping I'm being constantly asked if I'm doing okay. So I get home and I found what I wanted online. I go and make my order and use my points for next day delivery and I end up getting the wrong thing delivered to me. I ordered a Paula's choice face wash full size and got a one ounce liquid exfoliator. Since I ordered next day delivery it was put together FROM THE EMPLOYEES AT THE STORE. If you care so much about the experience how do you mistake a 6oz face wash with a 1oz product. I'm giving Sephora 4 stars, but it's more of a true 3.5. The pros to my years of shopping at this store: mostly friendly assistants, ability to test products/see real sizes and color swatch, and get help and recommendations. Cons: The store can get very busy and crowded, making it hard to flag someone down. Out of stock products. No real sales or benefits unless you shop quite often. TINY samples when you ask. I've come to two conclusions: Ulta has a better rewards system all around. Although they don't carry the high end products, it's almost always smarter to get the same product if it is offered at Ulta because the points add up and can be discounted as cash however you want. Also, shopping online at Sephora.com holds better value. That way you can get certain perks, free samples, and redeem actually available rewards points. This is one of the best ways to find new products, and ALWAYS read the product reviews and research before you buy. In the end, Sephora is one of my favorite retailers, in real life and online. This is makeup candy land as they carry everything you would need from foundations, face washes, creams, blushes, brushes, eyeshadows, lipsticks, shampoos, etc. With many different makeup brands, there is literally something for everyone, including me who have opted not to wear makeup anymore. For over 10 years I have worn Mac Cosmetics and their mineralize line (I like the no makeup, makeup look) and I continue to break out. I made a personal choice to not wear makeup for a year in a half now and my skin has never looked better! I come to Sephora to purchase my Clinique face wash, eye creams, and Dior lip balm. My last shopping trip here, I came here with the intent to purchase bridal makeup for my beach wedding coming up this summer. The girl by the door put my name on a clipboard and told me that a makeup specialist will be right with me. After browsing around the store, the makeup specialist (forgot her name unfortunately but she was so sweet and knowledgable) found me and I told her what I wanted for my beach wedding. I told her that I do not wear makeup anymore but for a 90 degrees beach wedding, I want a little something to catch the eye of the cameras while I do my photoshoot afterwards. She suggested a CC Illumination Cream by IT Cosmetics in light color. It has SPF which is great for the beach and it's light and dewy on the skin. I can use a light layer over my face to give me a bit of color as well as double up as a sunscreen. For my eyes, she suggested Urban Decay's Half Baked gold shimmery eyeshadow. It looks beautiful on and will definitely catch the sun! She definitely listened and get that the look I am going for is less is more. I will be doing my own makeup and I want a beautiful, beach-y, ethereal look. I think she got my vision, she listened, asked questions and made the whole process really easy. I had two in minds that I wanted to get a feel for after being recommended them and reading up on the product online. The girl kept pushing for me to go to a different brand. Also explained that I would need 3 other products to have a "adequate base". I explained why I was there. Again tried to push me into a different product instead of asking why I was wanting to see the two I had came to see. They were well stocked the only reason they got the second star. Their service is full of pushy women who get very rude when you do not comply with what they are trying to sell you. I do not spend an hour and 118 different steps to be ready for the day. I am New to the whole make up thing. I'm 29 years old and the most makeup I've ever worn has been black eyeliner and maybe some cheap stuff from drugstores. it's just been recently in the past year and a half that I have really taken a liking to makeup. And learning how to even do it. (I am still learning !!!!) I now have a very large collection and am getting pretty good. I watch a lot of YouTube tutorials and of course I'm a big fan of a lot of (most of ) the big brands that Sephora carries. So the last year I have shopped at this location a lot. It is really hit or miss. I've had more bad or I should say lackluster experiences here than I have good ones. Most of the time the employees are never really smiling or happy. And they usually are always talking amongst themselves instead of helping customers. There is sometimes someone upfront putting samples together but they never offer them out. You have to ask for them. And any questions that I ever do have, I feel like I am inconveniencing the employees by the attitude that I get back. There is maybe 1-3 employees that work there that are pretty nice and helpful, but the rest just seem pretty miserable and unhelpful. I have a lot of tattoos and I don't really look like your average beautiful girl that does her make up really well. So every time I am in there I feel like they watch me because I feel like they think that I might be trying to steal products or something like that. That is just the vibe that I get it. I always spend money every single time I go in Sephora and I have never stole anything in my life , so it's extremely disappointing when I get those vibes. Not to mention I can never find the product that I am looking for. They are usually all out of stock alot of the time. You may or may not know this about me, but I'm a pretty girly girl. Growing up in Southern California, we had a plethora of options when it came to perfume, makeup, and girly goodness. Until recently, when we gained the petite version of Sephora in the Coddingtown mall, we were vastly unprepared and poorly accommodated in this arena. I am personally not a huge fan of Ulta, but Sephora, is different. This newest Sephora took the place of the Eddie Bower in the SR Downtown mall, next to our new Tevana. Setup of the store is true to Sephora stores that I have been to in other cities, usually high ceilings, and a long and slightly narrow store base. Due to them just having been opened not even a week when I arrived, I noticed with agony that they weren't even on Yelp yet! With wide eyes and bated breath, I re-checked, and confirmed the worst...Not On Yelp. I quickly fixed this momentous blunder and remarked to the assistant manager next to me, with great relief that this had been fixed, and no longer would anyone else have to experience this fresh horror. She blinked blankly at me, and gave me a slow thanks, which I attributed to her absolute sheer panic and momentary state of overwhelming shock. I found the attendants throughout the store to be friendly, outgoing, and helpful, yet many of them were still not knowledgeable about products, which is probably because they are still quite new and learning. They make up for their lack of product knowledge with a kind and positive attitude, which I thought was refreshing. Prices are consistent with other stores, although I was surprised they weren't doing any specials, prizes or giveaways to celebrate the new store opening. All encompassed, solid store, not quite full sized, but more expansive than Coddingtown without having to drive to the Novato location. read more

I had a palette I wanted to exchange that the Sephora in JC Penney gave me grief about because I ordered it online from Sephora and not JCP. Ugh. Plus they were horrendously rude. I live in Mendocino and I only go through Santa Rosa once in a while when I go to see my neurologist in San Francisco. Today I had an appointment and on my way back I checked out the main Sephora in the Santa Rosa Plaza. Amazing! For one thing, I had on not a speck of makeup and I was kind of a mess (side effect of the appointment I attended). Despite the appearance that would have earned me a dirty look at every other Sephora I've been to, I was greeted by three different people right away. I asked for a shade match in a foundation I wanted to try. They're not custom shade matching right now because of the COVID-19 paranoia but the girl gave me a sponge to test a shade she picked just by eyeballing and it was a perfect match! She helped me pick the right concealer to go with it as well, and another employee recommended a great eyeshadow primer which I also needed. I had a thoroughly excellent experience from entering to exiting and I will definitely be back. read more

If you like being treated like dirt then I strongly recommend this place. The staff is outrageously rude. They don't ask if you need help, and when you ask for, they're very quick to have an attitude. I know Sephora workers don't make much, and it truly shows at this location. I won't go here again until the location changes staff or learns how to treat people with RESPECT. Literally the worst workers ever, there's a few workers who are nice, but 90% are rude and I feel disrespected by their attitudes. Use any other location Sephora and thank me later. PS, they need an undercover boss to go in there and act like a shopper. 90% of the people will lose their measly jobs. They're horrible with assistance. The staff here are just so rude. Last time I was there I was looking for my foundation and there wasn't any stock on display. The bottom drawer was halfway open and I saw my shade so I grabbed it. This rude ass salesgirl comes around the corner pretty much berating me for doing so. She said "I was right around the corner you could have asked me instead of helping yourself!" Then proceeds to try and peek in my purse like I was stealing. I am a nurse and I can afford whatever makeup I want. The rest of my visit I could see her out of the corner of my eye watching me. Sephora is the candyland of playtime for girls (guys too I guess). Even if you walk in thinking your fabulous already, they have something to be sure that will only help you be more fabulous. It's the nature of the store. All things beauty reside within these walls: make up, nail polish, hair spray, shampoo, fragrances, brushes, and skincare. Not only is there a variety of products to choose from to beautify yourself but the staff is super friendly and more than willing to help explain the products and offer suggestions. I'm an easy shopper, I stick to what I know so I am not adventurous when it comes to products mostly. However, once in a while I can be swayed to a new eye shadow, perfume roller, or blush. I love this store and the best bonus is for being a frequent shopper and spending money you are already planning to spend you build points and get free stuff. Who doesn't love that?! And, you get birthday presents just for being a member. The presents give the opportunity to try new products and explore the plethora available to chose from. read more

I went in this store on 1/30/2019 around 1200 noon, to purchase something. The attendant Emily would not let me purchase anything without my cell phone number and email. Totally insane. She said, I needed to wait 20 minutes to be helped, let me add that there were at least 3 workers not attending to anyone and there were no more than two customers. Customer service is bad. I am happy Sephora has come to Santa Rosa. The smaller location inside JCPenny was just not enough to give the full experience. I appreciate the help-fullness of the staff who are present. The makeup, skincare, and fragrance lines are enough for my needs. I was explaining to my sister about how I'm invisible when I come here. In San Francisco and Emeryville, I'm offered help and totally take it. I might dress like crap but I like to look pretty, dammit - even if it's just my face. But here I was, invisible and having to chase down someone for help. I was passed off to no one in particular and then helped out by a lovely person who assigned me to someone else, who was moderately helpful. I got directed to a few products with little explanation (it was only previous recommendations from other Sephora people in other locations that I even knew anything about them). The whole experience felt un-fun and practically unpleasant. I only felt compelled to purchase because I was in town makeup-less and already knew the products I got weren't available at the Coddingtown location and I didn't feel like scavenger hunt make-upping in Macy's.
