Like every other girl who loves makeup - I love Sephora too. I was at this location this past weekend. Didn't have any intention to make a purchase but eh - that's how all my past purchases from Sephora were made. I picked up 2 fenty lip stains (cause they're gorgeous) and walked to the billing counter. Now, not to sound like a sample hog but Sephora always blesses you with samples depending upon your membership status (and sometimes just cause they are awesome). I am VIB and all other Sephora throw in great samples. She didn't so I asked if they have anything good. That's how I buy more products (also that's a part of Sephora's business model)! The employee at the counter said - "unfortunately we don't have ANY samples" + a deal they stare. So you're telling me that in a store full of all my fav beauty products - you don't have samples for me. I said ok and walked over to see some perfumes. Asked a different store person to give me a sample vial. She did. 1 vial had 1 spray in it. These guys should learn from the Sephora near my home. They hook you up with each purchase and that's why I go there over and over and over again. Never going to this location ever - unprofessional staff who doesn't want to help and gives you death stares if you want to sample something, you're only a good customer as long as you're buying something (a different lady didn't want to help me cause she thought I am not going to buy anything - I had already paid for my stuff), lastly - can an employee in the store actually smile when a customer asks for help? read more

Heck yea!!! I love this place! I went on my birthday to get my free gift and they sat my friend and I down and gave us makeovers for my birthday!! No minimum purchase!! The staff was fantastic all coming over to wish me a happy birthday and see how the makeovers were progressing. Best impromptu birthday present. I'm so glad Sephora came to Santa Rosa. I got my makeup done here for prom on Saturday. I repeatedly told the woman doing my makeup that I liked a natural, glowey look, nothing too crazy. She did not listen. My eyebrows were completely overdone, my face looked extremely cakey and my eyeshadow was way too much. I felt like I looked like a clown, and was self conscious the entire dance. I really wish that the makeup artist would have listened to me and done what I asked, as all of my other friends that I went with were wearing pretty, natural makeup. Love this store! Every time I walk in, someone comes up to help me right away...which is great, because they have so many products it's easy to get overwhelmed! I've even had it where once, I had 3 different sales associates around me helping me try out some makeup at the beauty bar. Gotta love that service!! They also have a cool rewards program, where almost anytime I buy something online I get a small free gift...just for being signed up. Not to mention the birthday gift you get! There are a lot of makeup brands to choose from, although they are missing a couple brands that Ulta has. I like going here more than I like going to Ulta, but at this point I have to go to both stores to get everything that I use. Just spent a few minutes on the phone asking about Dr. Jart's Melting Cream. Trust me, it is the miracle cream of miracle face creams. It actually performs as claimed. Lasts for a long time as it does not take much. Back to the conversation. They do not carry the cream in the store, yet. Linda listened to my testimony and was very helpful in directing me. Hopefully I will soon be able to purchase this awesome cream in Santa Rosa instead of ordering online or running down to The City! This location is filthy. The tester, makeup remover stations and displays were so dirty. I went on a Tuesday when it was slow... and the employees stood around and talked. My friend and I made appointments at this location to get our makeup done for Halloween. We made appointments ahead of time, and were taken at our correct appointment times. Ari did my makeup look and i LOVED it!!!! She was courteous, professional and so much fun to work with. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and I told her if she had suggestions or ideas to enhance the look to go for it. She did everything I wanted and more. We get there and my sister asked a woman for help on picking out her shade, the woman said she couldn't do it and there was no makeup artist until 12 but she could put her on a waiting list but there was no guarantee she would be seen at 12? i'm usually not one to leave bad reviews anywhere, as i worked in retail and understand how damaging it can be, but this place deserves every bad review. the manager snatched a product i had barely opened to see the color out of my hands and told me he needs to throw it away because i've opened it, even though there was no tester for the product. he made me feel so bad that i would have left if he hadn't already rung up my items. if you guys don't want people to open your products, try leaving a (clean) tester out! i'm not going to buy a product i can't see, and i'm not going to put a filthy tester on my body. secondly, i've been followed EVERY SINGLE TIME i've been in there. the workers follow me around right behind me, very obviously, and make me feel so uncomfortable. i brought my out of town friends here one time and promised i'd never embarrass myself like that again because we were being stalked like prey. this the only sephora i have this problem at. read more

Went to Sephora with my daughter yesterday for a "girls make up day" and we were treated like royalty from the moment we walked in. In addition to our make up appointments, the artists did my friends and daughters make up after hearing they lost their house and everything in the fires! Cole was so incredible and made me look like I was 10 years younger and my daughter was so happy, we just had the best day. I'm really happy Sephora is so close now! This is one of my happy places in life, i.e. this is where I do my retail therapy. I was really impressed by the staff here because they are SO helpful. I had the help of a really nice girl named Kristy, I think is how it was spelled? She was so patient with all my questions and helping me decide which products I would benefit most from. I walked into Sephora to get my foundation matched with the colorIQ tool. After walking around the whole store without seeing an available worker, I decided to go wait by the colorIQ station and wait for one of the workers there to be finished. After waiting for about 5 minutes, both of the workers finished on their customers and walked away, leaving me standing there. I waited about 10 more minutes and not one worker of the multiple who walked past me stopped to ask if they could help me or what I needed. I love sephora do I think the staff needs some training on customer service 100%, why do they have someone that stands at the door if they don't even want to greet you when you walk in! I literally was walked passed multiple times and never asked if I needed help!!!! My sister went to Sephora to purchase face wash and was followed by the manager and security guard the entire time she was there. When I returned with her to confront the manager for profiling her, the manager was not apologetic and instead disputed my sister's experience and feelings. If you are under 40 you might as well not even bother shopping here. They stereotype people based on age for sure!! I'll go in there with my mom and they treat us like normal human beings. YET when I go in with friends my own age (23) suddenly we're all criminals ready to steal everything we touch. I completely understand watching out for theft, I've worked in retail but this Sephora is ruthless. They have no shame in following you around asking you if you need help a million times then whispering into their walkies. The other day we had the pleasure of being bombarded with shopping baskets which we didn't ask for by this red headed woman (I think she was a manager too yikes!). It was so forceful we were immediately uncomfortable. I literally came in there for one lipstick so the basket was unnecessary but whatever. Then we looked around a bit and literally every 2 mins this woman asked if we needed help it was very excessive. She followed us around and then I noticed she called in a mall cop and was whispering to him looking in our direction. I was so uncomfortable at this point I just put the lipstick back and headed for the door. THEN this woman had the nerve!!! She called me out in front of everyone saying she knew I had the lipstick and she wanted to make sure I put it back! It was humiliating!! I told her I put it back and left immediately! I was almost in tears, I can't believe I can't go into my favorite store without feeling like I don't belong there. This is the last attempt I will be making at shopping at Sephora. Love love love this store. After being greeted with a hello and a smile, I was promptly helped by a very friendly and outgoing employee. They knew exactly what I needed, where it was, the details about the product including the price. My 01 red cream lip stain (bright red liquid lipstain) is almosttt everything I hoped for. The only thing is that it dries weird and removes all moisture from lips. But over all, it stays on very well, doesn't smudge too much at all, has a brilliant lasting color, is not clumpy, very smooth and even smells good! Best of all, I get complimented every single time I wear it! I've even been stopped on the street and asked where I bought it! Very happy with this product and the customer service. read more

I went to exchange a foundation i ordered online because of the wrong shade and no one even bothered to help. There were actual employees who were just standing around. I had to actually go up and ask an employee for help after 10 minutes of no one helping me. The lady who did help matched my skin really well. She covered my whole face with foundation, like litterally just foundation and didnt even bother to add anything else to even look decent. My face was basically a blank canvas. Luckily I was only going home after. The cashiers were really helpful and friendly, if only they were working on the floor... overall i probably wouldnt go here as often. read more

So my mom and I go to Sephora all the time. They have classes on sunday nights that are really great and helpful. The staff is amazing. We used to go to the one in Novato, in vintage oaks, but the staff there just makes you feel uncomfortable. At least in my opinion. Normally I enjoy going into this location, but I had a pretty negative experience the last time I went there. I went because lately my foundation or concealer has been leaving little deposits of pigment inside my pores. I wanted to try out some foundations that might work differently to see what could help. I've also been moisturizing and exfoliating more- and trying out different primers. Anyway, one of the people working brought me over to a Murad table where two people were giving skin consultations- not exactly what I'd wanted but alright. So I started to explain to the man and the woman that I have hyper pigmentation on my cheeks, that I'd like to find thing to help correct that color, but before I could even finish my explanation- the man took a product out of my hands and said "I don't know what you're doing with that, your skin is WAY too young for this stuff." He then asked me what cleanser I was using, I started to explain that I work at Lush but before I could continue he said, "Well I can see that you're being too rough on your skin, you need to change your cleanser." I tried to correct him that my skin just has a lot of hyper pigmentation, my chest is that way, my upper arms- I pulled my shirt a little down to show him that my chest has the same rosy color. And he replied with, "Well it would still help not add to it." The woman then started to explain to me that it's more about what face care and primers I'm using, rather than my foundation. That was fine with me, but of course she was trying to sell me Murad for the most part. It also wasn't really what I came in for- when I asked her if it really didn't make a different what foundation or concealer I tried to use she said, "Bad skin is just bad skin." Even if none of the other stuff was happening, the interruptions, the artificial promotion of Murad product, that line would have been enough to make me write this. But no- they were also demeaning and impolite. They rolled their eyes as some of my favorite product brands (that are sold at Sephora), they assumed I couldn't afford their product, and took stuff out of my hands that I might have purchased. I know I don't have amazing skin, I don't work hard enough to have it look flawless. I don't use my spare cash for facials every month, I haven't seen a dermatologist- But I don't think I have bad skin, either. I learned from them that primers that have a liquid consistency or have silicones might not be the best for my oily skin- that's about the only thing possibly constructive that happened. Everyone was really nice, I came in with the goal to find a new foundation. I talked to an employee and she gave me two recommendations that would work for my skin. I'm terrible at finding my own shade when it comes to foundation, so I had an artist come and help me out. She picked out the lightest shade for me and said it was perfect. Came in here looking for a new foundation similar to one I've been using forever from MAC only to be rudely talked to and dismissed. The guy who was "helping" me was distracted but lots of other customers who weren't even talking to him and he suggested me a color that was way too orange for me!! He asked me to apply it to my jaw/neck barely even looked at it and told me it was my perfect color! It was so off........ I registered with Yelp just so I could give this review. I had my formal makeup done by Lindsay and she was absolutely amazing! She is so knowledgeable about makeup and the different makeup brands and what each brand offers. I brought in pictures of what I wanted (1920s party theme) and she did an awesome job selecting the perfect colors/products to pull it off. Strangers were complementing my makeup, and she did such a great job applying it that 12 hours later it still looked great! read more

So this is only for the middle aged woman with short dark curly hair with glasses who works in Sephora in the downtown mall, im sure the other employees arent like this lady! I decided I wanted eyebrow makeup so i went in with my 13 year old daughter. Couldnt find what i was looking for so i asked my daughter to find someone who could help me. She walked up to an employee, politely said " excuse me" . She was going to ask if she could send some help to the "benefit" counter and the miserable employee replied back yelling with attitude , that she was with a "client", as if shes some lawyer or something. Then proceeded to ask someone to come over and help us and described what my african american daughter was wearing as if she was going to steal, rather than say were at the benefit counter. For the most part this store is okay. But they never ever have what I need in stock. It's pretty frustrating to pay to park and walk into the mall and leave empty handed when I come ready to splurge, on multiple occasions. At this point I shop on their online store.
