I'm happy to share that my recent visit to this Macy's was a genuinely positive experience. My last trip had been a bit underwhelming, but this time the store felt refreshed--there were more staff available to assist, some fantastic sales, and a wide variety of merchandise to explore. You don't see many multi-level department stores anymore, so riding the escalator up to the third floor was fun for my granddaughter. We were shopping for her birthday, and I was also browsing for a new sofa. I have to say, the service in the furniture department was positive, friendly, and truly helpful. Macy's Coddingtown Ctr. location is my chosen location for online ordering. I prefer this to the in-person shopping experience. Find it more convenient & time friendly. Stuff ordered usually comes before time, well packed and fresh stock delivered, invariably. Also this store is closer to home, making returns easier too. Even otherwise the "Return" experience is quite simple, as if just at a click of a button, staff processing away the rest efficiently. Good experience overall so far. Well recommended! read more

I love coming to this Coddingtown mall Macy's. It's organized and clean. The employees are very nice. It's smaller than the Macy's downtown, but the selection is still very good when I've had to do returns. It's always been super easy definitely my number one choice for clothes, shopping and shoe shopping. read more

After finding a garment to purchase we finally found the check out counter ...one lone woman there on her phone....this store is on its way out...sad....and so goes another brick and mortar stop because of no customers and even fewer service employees....why not shop on line? read more

About three weeks ago, I bought a sofa and a recliner from Macy's cutting town. The furniture was delivered in a timely fashion. I noticed right away that one of the recliners in the sofa was very jerky. It would stop and go stop and go. It also had a small hole in it. I called and they replaced it rather quickly again I appreciated that but when I checked out the sofa while the delivery people were there, one of the recliners did exactly the same thing as the other recliner stop go stop go stop go was not a smooth motion. The same night the recliner chair stopped working. It is now in the reclining position and I cannot get it down. I called to let them know. I would like to exchange this furniture for a different brand because I feel that after three things going wrong. I don't trust this particular brand. The brand is called Graymel. I called customer service. I was told that they would have to have somebody come out and inspect the furniture before any decision could be made. I have company coming on 9 May. They could not give me appointment until May 30. I was told that they could do it sooner if I wanted to return it, but I would be charged a 15% fee and my delivery fee would not be reimbursed. I am quite angry because I have people coming and fewer places to sit. I doubt that I will ever use Macy's for anything ever again. . read more

Macy's has always been a local go to for fashion finds-however today---not so much. I went in to get shoes and make-up essentials. I literally went in search of associate but it was a ghost town. No a person to be found. I felt like I was in the twilight zone with elevator music playing in the back ground. Make up was a no go-so -I went to shoe department to try my hand at purchasing shoes. Natalie was there with a helpful smile to guide the way. She not only was helpful, she gave me so many tips without expecting me to buy more. She respected my time, but took her time with explaining to me "how I can showcase my beauty". She was absolutely wonderful. Provide such good conversation and made me feel absolutely stunning. This business is no longer a viable clothing store. It's like walking through the clearance section at Ross, not even a Marshall's. They've closed one entrance. There's one cashier for the first floor and so many crappy looking clothes and sizes mixed around there's not many clear departments besides purses, shoes, and sunglasses (not Macy's personnel). The building is no longer kept clean or tidy. Sad - I've had a Macys credit card since 1970 but will no longer bother. read more

Unresolved. BEWARE you can only return Last Act items within 1 day of purchase. The associates do not tell you this at checkout. Why not? Because they don't even know. I tried to return a dress 2 days after I bought it, and 3 different associates could not figure out why a return would not process on the register with the receipt. After 40 mins, finally a manager figured it out. Even an employee who's been at Macys for decades did not know that policy. Spent combined time of 75 mins and 2 phone calls to customer service and they did not get back to me when they said they would. Who is going to stand at the register and read the entire receipt's fine print? Should have been told at checkout! read more

Came in for the Chanel makeup counter to purchase foundation (and sample a concealer for a ginormous blemish since my coverage had completely worn off at that point). Ulta (North location) next door doesn't carry Chanel makeup. The Coddingtown Macy's cosmetic department vibes are a little... depressed. It felt simultaneously cluttered and barren; a forgotten space. No Chanel makeup to be found. Disappointed, but I've been meaning to try 2 specific shades of MAC lip color, so I found my way to that counter. Perhaps working in a ghost town cosmetics department has the employees actually believing the customers are spooky boos. There were 4 employees tucked into the tiny kiosk, chatting in twos, and I was the only customer looking at their products... for a while. When a staff member finally bestowed upon me a reluctant verbal greeting, I could barely respond before she swiftly returned to her conversation with the other staffer. Not one to push my business on those who don't want it, I left. Macy's must be selling something to people to keep the lights on after all these years. Beyond the cosmetic counters, Macy's holds little interest for me. After today, I have no reason to ever return to this location. Hope to have better luck at the next one. read more

The Chanel perfume lady was super nice and knowledgeable about her perfume. I like the fruity floral smell but didn't know there were 3 variations which had true differences that all smelled good but I definitely had a top 2. Or maybe she just knew which 3 to show me! 2 was definitely in the same jar style and color but one had a silver spray head and the other gold. It was pretty cool. I'm not going to lie, I already forgot most of what she told us but I do like when people know their stuff which she clearly did. I didn't catch her name but she had natural white hair and then pretty purple dye (which suited her well!) I liked we also got perfume samples with our purchase. read more

Macy's has really gone down hill. It feels like they have become very concerned with money yet don't want to work for it. They have so many rules for use of coupons that they don't work on what you purchase 99% of the time. You get them mailed to you and then when you get there they already know when you present them that they will probably not work! The associates literally tell you: "None of your coupons will work most likely but I will gladly try." Returns: have become nearly impossible. These signs that I have included in this review were taped at the level of my groin at the Codding Town Mall in Santa Rosa during the holidays. (Absolutely tacky) They wanted to make sure you could not return anything if possible. I bought a blazer last November that fell apart the first wash and they just showed me the sign and said: "Once you remove the tags and wash it, it is yours." Many of the associates I have dealt with have been either cold and non empathetic or new and confused in the last year or so. They sold me a clearance watch over the holidays with no box, it was scratched unbeknownst to me and they said they don't do returns on such things at all. I didn't really dig into and explanation as it was not worth a fight over a $30 watch but I knew things had really changed at that point. Staffing: Staffing is so sparse in every department and when someone is finally available...they are always new and seem to have very minimal training. They look and act stressed and unhappy. Recruiting team members is a vital role for a company. Training is also imperative. Practicing empathy should be a part of that curriculum. It seems like they may be unable to attract hard working individuals who use critical thinking skills and practice empathy. This could be due to a combination of low wage and poor benefits? It could also be a lack of empowerment that is given to their staff that they need in order to do the right thing by their customers. When you put all these items together, it is sadly a recipe for another big store to fail. It is too bad. I loved Macy's back in the day, when being in there was an event. The bustling of employees everywhere and the sparkle of the extra detail they used to have for decor and all that holiday sparkle! They went above and beyond in the old days and now they are cutting every corner imaginable. Service and ambiance is the only thing that stores have to offer us that you can't get online. These items being missing from Macy's makes my heart sad and tells me that it is only a matter of time before they close their doors forever. The Macy's I knew and loved, would never have these tacky rules taped all over every register, the staff was well trained and service mattered above all. They worked hard to make sure that the customer felt pampered when they walked in and had so much visual stimulation and engaged employees everywhere waiting to assist. They had events, and people came from everywhere to see their Christmas trees, Santa Claus, to get their makeovers and smell the perfumes! When did this happen? When did their spirit wither? First off I am truly not a shopper as online makes everything easier (albeit not as fun). My girlfriend is a big Macy's fan and even orders online herself. So, I needed a couple pairs of pants and a shirt for an upcoming vacation. Got it! Macy's online quick, easy and great prices. Done! I received the three items in about a week. Good stuff! Then I realized that all three were the wrong size. Beautiful clothes just wrong sizes. Today I walked into Macy's and greeted by Anthony Santos the jewelry department manager. I was looking for the return/customer service desk? Anthony stated...Let's make this easy for you and I can help you right here. Fantastic! I had my clothing tags and online receipt on my phone. We recently purchased a nice leather recliner chair at Coddingtown Macy's for an old standby. I am a big man, 6 feet tall and well over 350 pounds in weight and very wide around the waist derrière. Its hard to find chairs that support my hefty weight. This recliner does both for fit and support, which I'm grateful for in the first place. It feels comfortable to sit in, as I recline at home. Chair is good looking, with many colors to choose from. Its purported to be easy to clean, just wipe it off. The one we picked was a fine leather finish in blue to match the looks of my wood grain flooring, blue carpets and the whole interior design of my apartment. My sister was on the look-out in shopping, in a rush so the speak as we were going out of town to a vacation in Aptos to visit another sister's family for my 60th Birthday. She came here at Coddingtown Macy's early in her furniture hunt for an old time, long time Santa Rosa family specialty favorite, at least among former teen women. There were a lot of choices on the 2nd Floor. Gregg has even worked Seasonally now and again at this work site! read more

When you look at where Macys was 30 years ago...when it was an upscale Department store, with a class act at every turn...then you walk into the Macys at Coddingtown...well i could cry. What a sad state this store has become! Filthy. The floors are worn out and disgusting. Beat up walls. I went into the men's dept. Jan. 10th to purchase a sport jacket as a gift. It made me sick. I tried to order an e-gift card today. Apparently there is a verification process which they don't tell you about until they take your money and then cancel your gift card. So, I tried this twice because I was confused as to why they would cancel my gift card purchase the first time. The did they same thing the 2nd time too. So I contacted the number at the bottom of the email, gave them all of my information for the 2nd order, mostly because it was the one in front of me at the time, and was verified. Instead of issuing me one of the 2 $200 gift cards I had already purchased, they wanted me to purchase a 3rd gift card for another $200 while my other $400 was being refunded in "7 banking days" Ridiculous! No thank you Macy's Ill go to Nordstrom! Conversation below I have tried to make 2 gift card purchases with 2 different cards, 1 debit and 1 credit and both were cancelled. The money was taken though. I know it says I will receive a refund but I'm already out $400.00 from this and don't want to be out $600.00. I really need to order this gift card 12:47 PM Macy's Hi! As soon as we walked in, she saw we had perfume and yelled "we don't take it here, go to cosmetic ". Well, I also had jeans to return and she couldn't find item in computer even though I gave her order number. She suggested to return it by mail. I said "why should I? ", she raised her voice, yelled at me and my husband, unbelievably rude. We ended up returning jeans in womens section and ladies there were smart and kind. This review is for Natalie in the Furniture Dept upstairs in Coddingtown Mall. My husband and I came after work last Monday to gather ideas for a couch for our living room and was gonna make our purchase online. I knew I wanted a couch that is blue in color with wooden legs. I saw the Jollene and loved it! The price was right. We also saw a gray couch and also liked it. We looked around and sat on many couches. Natalie greeted us, was not pushy at all. She helped us find color swatches for the gray couch. I was hoping for a blue color but it was all grays and beiges. So after much deliberation, I went with the Jollene! Natalie was quick and efficient in checking us out and used my Macy's Card (no interest for a year!). She scheduled our white glove delivery for today. The whole week, I received text and email updates on my couch delivery. I was informed the whole time. Couch arrived brand new, on time, set up in a jiffy. Shortly after, Natalie called me to check in to make sure my couch arrived. Yes Mam! Thank you Natalie and macys. Very happy with our new couch! read more

Lol...this place is a wreck. The mens department is neglected and the employees are clueless. Messy piles everywhere, few selections in a lot of items. Brought a pair of shoes to the checkout counter and told the guy they were the display pair and they were a size 8.5 which is what I wanted. I told him I'd take them without the box unless he wanted to go get it. He said okay and was gone for about 20 minutes then came back and said they only had size 9 left. I told him again that the pair I handed to him, was the one I wanted and was an 8.5. He said okay, left for another 20 minutes and then came back to ring me up. I don't know who was more confused, him or me. Love the effort he put in to find the shoes that he had in his hands but if he took the time to listen to what I was saying in the first place we could have saved a lot of time. read more

Not to happy with Macys in coddingtown Santa Rosa CA I went use the dressing room in macys (1) Unisex!!!! Not very happy about this!!! While I was in the dressing room a lady trying on Bras. she forgot to lock the door!! Apparently she did not realize it was unisex! She was livid!!! I'm not happy either. I talked to the manager and he said the reason for the unisex is due to "special interests"!!! And that they were short staffed! Which is it?? However Jacob did tell me there were 2 changing rooms upstairs...guess they can staff those dressing rooms. Seems Jacob lied to me. They are only short staffed downstairs not upstairs!!! I'm not about unisex for anything!! I know I'm the majority!!! Those 1% percent can go have all the unisex sh-t they want!!! The General Manager, Rebecca Rodolf (Rodolfo?) for the stores in Santa Rosa is one of the smartest, nicest people I've met. When we chanced to meet, and she discovered I'd been evacuated due to our wildfires, she gave me a coupon for a generous discount. When I finally got myself together enough to replace my bath towels and bath rugs, that offer had expired. BUT the manager of that department in the Coddingtown store was wonderful! She said there was another big sale scheduled shortly in her department. I reserved my towels on a presale basis. They were all put aside in bags for me to pick up. I couldn't have gotten better treatment at the classiest boutique in San Francisco. I'll try to get her name and update my review then. She deserves a shout-out! read more

I just got a Macy's credit card! YAY. So my first few purchases were gifts, gifts that everyone loved. For Valentine's Day, I purchased a beautiful gray robe for my boyfriend. Awwww... he loved it. And I loved the quality of service more. At 8 PM I was more than impressed with the sweet woman who helped me upstairs. Bravo. I recently bellyed up to the brow bar at the Benefit cosmetics counter for an eyebrow wax. The girl was so sweet and talented, I decided to get beard and mustache waxed as well. Then I continued to buy eye makeup (dramatic) because I feel like one of those Pasty girls do you see looking washed out. I needed a night look so now I have one. YAY! Absolutely NO customer service! We visited the furniture department both yesterday and today, and no one even approached us - after waiting at lease 20 minutes each time. There were several people working in the area, but they took so much time chit chatting with people and finishing orders that clearly took too long, that we finally left. We noted the item we wanted to purchase, and might go online to buy it, but might just go somewhere else. If the sales people were overloaded, they could have just acknowledged us, and said they would be with us as soon as they could, but no - nothing. Don't bother. Go somewhere else. read more

I purchased a sofa sectional. After only 6 weeks, it was wrinkled and extremely uncomfortable. I spoke with Macys and they agreed to send a worker to see the sofa. They cancelled on me 3 times! With me taking off work each time! Finally, they agreed to have me send in pictures of the defect, and they offered to pick it up and return my money. Once again, they cancelled 3 pickups! Never even bothering to call me to say they weren't coming. I had already ordered another sofa, which I had to return. Macys you have sunk to a new low. Your customer service is horrible. Stop buying from Macys, they do not back anything! I even wrote the President of the company...two days later he quit! There you go...writing is on the wall. downgrading my review to 3 stars. The women's bathroom remodel is beyond stupid. It was FINE the way it was. I like to choose my own water temperature and volume thank you. The soap dispensers are usually empty. There's no place dry to put your purse or packages down. The hooks in the stalls have been broken for decades. You want our money, but you can't fix the things about the bathroom that are actually important. Perhaps you should focus on fixing the toilet seats so they stay on the toilets instead. I miss the hair salon, the gift wrapping area, the STYLE this store had for decades.The watch selection continues to go down hill, the store security is annoying. I really can't stand being watched while I'm shopping and guess what? I no longer buy anything in your store because of that! After a lifetime of being a devoted Macy's shoper, YOU have changed all that! Your all-seeing-eye cameras are super annoying as well. I'm sorry that SOME people steal from your store. I'm not one of them and i really really really really hate being treated like a thief. It won't be long before this store shutters. But it WON'T be because of the reason all the other big box stores claim (people are shopping more online). In my experience this store has really, really gone down hill. Today I walked through several of the women's departments and was appalled at the piles- literally piles- of clothes on the floor and the messed up stacks of folded clothes. They've reduced the number of check-out counters by 2/3, and it's glaringly obvious that they've cut staffing back and now suffer the consequences of being understaffed. I always feel sorry for the staff as it seems pretty clear how over-taxed they are, though they do their best and don't grumble. Where is that awesome, energetic manager that I used to see jumping in to help out the ladies wherever help was needed??? Haven't seen him in about a year or more. Too bad, so sad. read more
