In my experience this store has really, really gone down hill. Today I walked through several of the women's departments and was appalled at the piles- literally piles- of clothes on the floor and the messed up stacks of folded clothes. They've reduced the number of check-out counters by 2/3, and it's glaringly obvious that they've cut staffing back and now suffer the consequences of being understaffed. I always feel sorry for the staff as it seems pretty clear how over-taxed they are, though they do their best and don't grumble. Where is that awesome, energetic manager that I used to see jumping in to help out the ladies wherever help was needed??? Haven't seen him in about a year or more. Too bad, so sad. read more

Needed to replace our mattress and decided to start our journey at Macy's since they were close by and they had some 4th of July sales going on. We were very fortunate to have Jeff B. available to answer our many questions. Jeff was very patient and showed us several options that fit our criteria and then left us to sort out all our options and try them out. After a short time we settled on on mattress that seemed right for us. Jeff then was helpful in explaining all the options available for purchase in a clear and non biased way. When we entered Macy's today we weren't convinced we had enough info to make a purchase but after the valuable unbiased support from Jeff we were very satisfied that we made a great choice. I don't really like Macys. I worked for Macys.com for 7 years and got sick of watching their screen savers forced on our computers. One of my co-workers said Macys was trying to brainwash us into buying their stuff. (It didn't work on me.) Macys has good stuff in the stores - and their private label clothes are well made and stylish. I use to buy the sample shirts for $1 and the sample jackets for $5 - but Sofie won't let me wear them because they have a hole cut in the backs the size of a silver dollar so I won't sell them. (When Sofie's not around, I wear them anyway.) This Macys is kind of run down... probably intentionally so it would fit in with the general climate of Coddingtown. I've been into lots of Macys - this one isn't the worst, but the better Macys is in downtown Santa Rosa... but it's not fun because that's where everyone goes. One thing I like about Macys is the people and the way the stores are managed. I always feel good when I go into a Macys store. The clerks are very friendly. I always get friendly smiles. Sometimes they compliment me on my wise taste in clothes. I remember wearing one of my sample blazers (this one without a hole cut in it) and a hip looking clothing salesman said, "I really like your jacket sir! Looks sharp!" It made me feel about 5 years younger and very "in the know" - but since no where else on earth will tender me a compliment on my appearance I am suspicious that each sales associate has been trained to tender a compliment or two each day to unsuspecting customers. Whatever - I'll take it - and you know what? I can remember each compliment and which store the compliment came from... and they were all sincere. Macys has lounge chairs strategically placed around the store. I enjoy going to Macys and sitting in these chairs and observing the customers and the sales associates. I do this when Sofie goes to look at shoes. I enjoy listening to the titter of the women laughing while they do their work and I enjoy the free Macys wifi - though don't plan on downloading movies because it is slow. Last week, I walked out of Macys and over to Dick's Sporting goods and browsed the store. When the apocalypse arrives arrives, I'm going to Dick's! They have lots of guns, ammo, knives, cross-bows, bolts and camping gear. If, when I get there, they are out of guns and ammo, I'll run over to the golf department and get a 9 iron or a driver or possibly the baseball department and get a big baseball bat. It's comforting to know that Dick's will be there when "the big one" hits. read more

I had a makeover here yesterday afternoon because they had the Archie's Girls make-up event (which i got a promo card in the mail for as well!) So of course, I had to make an appointment and check out the goods...thank god I had a Macy's gift card or else my afternoon of spoils would've wrecked my checking account :) I was seriously the only makeover person that day i think...no one really shops at this mall unfortunately, which is sad bc the girl Brianna who did my make-up was fantastic!! She totally made me feel at home and welcome...to start off, she asked the basics: what's your skin type? What kind of finish do you like on your foundation (satin, matte, glowy, etc.) What type of coverage do you like? and then she spent the next hour on me, making me beautiful :D she went through all the products she used on me throughout the makeover...and she was super non-pressurey at the end (which is cool but she preface the appointment and again at the end of the appointment i had to spend a min.$50, which is no problem at MAC, let's be real!) she also said to only get stuff i could see myself using on a daily basis which was super welcoming, sometimes i feel so pressured to get the "whole look". i walked away with some needs/wants/essentials: needed a brow pencil for sure and the lip gloss, excited for the prep/primer, & got a super pretty blush, plus found a new foundation (super excited since she said this is the only liquid foundation she would allow to be applied with your finger tips!) so i definitely spent more then my gift cards were worth, but oh well...very happy! read more

So I would strongly suggest that you Never buy any type of mattress from Macys. We had a mattress that failed after 4 years (10 year warranty) but that was in April 2020. I worked with Macys and due to COVID 19, agreed for them to deliver a new comparable mattress. We would not have been able to try mattresses and I was assured that it was comparable if not better. WELL, after 4 months the mattress has failed again. My cat was dying and I was 2 weeks out of the 120 day return/exchange timeline. Plus the measurements are not correct (California King 72" x 84") but our mattress is only 72" x 82". I had to wait a month for an inspector to come to my home and 5 minutes after he left, I already received an email that it was denied with no report and no copy of the warranty. We will be out $1700.00 and Macys does not care. I have been sleeping on the floor with my grandsons twin mattress finally hoping that today I would have good news to get my money back as promised, with no care or concern - Denied - I will not be shopping at Macys anymore even though all my furniture in my home has come from Macys. They have no integrity or respect for their customers. read more

Worst experience in buying furniture there. My husband and I purchased an outdoor teak patio set with 8 chairs, cushions and umbrella. The delivery was set for last Saturday. We paid $3,200 for the set. The truck arrived to deliver the table and umbrella. The 8 chairs were on the truck unassembled in boxes. We were told they could not assemble them due to a liability issue. They went back to the warehouse. Macy's rescheduled at their convenience a delivery. To get them to deliver today, I called the sales person and was guaranteed that they could be delivered. I could not be there at the time of their inconvenient delivery, between 4-6 pm. I left a signed note on my door to deliver on the deck. They refused, again to deliver stating liability. I needed the set today as we had out of town guest arriving. I originally told them if the chairs didn't arrive today I wanted a refund. They said sure, fine. They then said the pickup would be scheduled on June 7th. I said that wasn't convenient. I told them to get it today, it was a liability for me. I can see we will have to fight for our money. It makes me ill. I will never walk into a Macy's again. This was all their fault. No wonder they are in trouble. read more

DO NOT GET THE FURNITURE PROTECTION PLAN. They'll claim it includes tons of things at the store, but if you try to make a claim, they'll suddenly have a long list of exclusions that were never disclosed at time of purchase. They'll claim you'll get your money back after 7 years ... as a voucher ... if you notify THEM within 90 days of the 7year expiration ... and then the voucher is only good for 90 days. I have received good customer service and bad at this location. A long time ago, I did an experiment where I dressed poorly to see how the sales associates would treat me. I couldn't get the time of day. The next day I went back, "dressed to the nines" as it were, and I was treated much better. I know it shouldn't matter how we look, but in this store it does. Fortunately for me, I don't often shop here, just once in awhile. The last time was okay. I was looking for a scarf, and I was directed to the proper department where I was checked out timely and with great service. I watch for the sales and look for bargains, especially around the holidays. It is a good opportunity to pick up great items at less prices. They are definitely trying to class it up, but with the clientele, I am not sure it is worth it so much at this location. Seriously, next door to Coddingtown Mall is senior living! Costly items will just sit around, so why don't you bring in more affordable products and we'll be happy. read more

Between the store here and at the Plaza, Macy's has almost all clothing you'll ever need, but you'll also pay for it. The selection at Coddingtown is less than that of the Plaza, which is why I always go downtown first. This location does have lots of furniture, though. read more

I do not recommend this store one bit at all they are a mess I called to verify if they had a specific shoe and size in stock after verifying , then I sent my wife from Petaluma to Coddingtown to pick these shoes up for me because I was busy and they told her they were out of stock and pretty much discontinued no one has them..... fast forward one hour later .. I called and I talk to the same guy she talk to and he said oh it looks like we have one pair in that size in stock let me verify and check it out two minutes pass and he's like OK I have them in my hand I will put them on hold for you the fact that we have to drive back in forth is annoying to top it off they made her feel like she was lying to them about calling before arriving ...... but wait it gets better as I'm waiting in line to pay for them a young lady comes and takes half of that line over to her side only help out one person and then disappear and not Come back lol we all just waited there like dummy's. Looking for a good mattress? Don't look at Macy's! No, the sales people are great. That was the only good part of the experience. We waited 2 months for delivery! They sent the wrong mattress. We waited another 3 months for its replacement. Less than a year later, when we could no longer sleep on this lumpy moonscape of craters and mountains, we discovered the real deal: that Macy's doesn't mind selling you a piece of crap -- namely a Simmons Beautyrest -- lying, and not standing behind their 10-year warrantee. I've changed a lot of beds in my time, and I've never seen one that looked like this -- and after a year! We had our last mattress 18 years. Never looked like this. When you call to say your mattress is unsleepable, they set you up with an appointment for an "inspector" to come to your home, take pictures and measure the craters. This is complete theater. (Never mind that I had to take a day off work to wait for the guy.) The measurements on the "limited" warrantee are determined with cynical accuacy to make sure your mattress, no matter how bad it is, will pass the inspection. The inspector said Macy's would be calling in a couple of days. They didn't. I called a week later. The guy on the phone promised me a full refund and a mattress pickup. Great! Except that never happened. When I called two weeks later after getting no confirmation of the refund, I discovered he outright lied to get me off the phone. After yet another hour on what would be my 4th or 5th phone call, they "allowed" me a 20% refund. This mattress is going out the door tomorrow because it really is impossible, no, painful to sleep on. Macy's is taking no responsibility for selling something of this nature being destined for the landfill after a year's use. Shame on you Macy's -- you sell crap on purpose, and you don't give a crap about your customers' crappy experiences. read more

I want to like this store, but I can't. I've come here over a dozen times and every time I leave frustrated by the lack of selections offered here. Whether I'm buying a gift for a wedding, some clothes for my husband, or wanting to purchase something for myself, the size or item I want isn't in stock. I'm tired of hearing an associate say they can order that for me. I want to keep box stores in business, I really do, but have what I need. Also, there usually aren't enough associates to help, especially in the women's department. Getting someone to ask a question is hard enough. I took my mom for Mother's Day well Mexican Mother's Day. It was supposed to be a nice day get her some makeup, shop around but the MAC counter kinda ruined it. We got there waited like 15mins till I ask one of the girls to help us she said she would be with us in a minute. He made sure I got every discount I could and was just great. The only downside was the leaking ceiling which necessitated 5 gallon buckets all over the place. There was literally no one on the sales floor. I could not find what I needed or even where clothes were for my gender or age group. The only employees were at the cash registers. Every time I tried to go talk to them the lines were longer and longer, when I tried to make eye contact with them they purposely looked away or down. After circling the store about ten times my heart was racing and I had to go outside to my dad's car to take my heart medication EARLIER then the usual time of day. That was due to extreme frustration and anger at being in this Macy's store. I had to leave the store as I was covered in sweat and pissed off. This store had no carts or baskets. One would need to carry the clothing on their backs like a villager in an African village or hold a huge pile and put them on the disgusting floors. The changing room had a stall with a completely broken handle with a huge hole where the handle lay swinging hanging on by a thread like a severed finger. The saddest part is that Wal Mart is more high end then this Macy's because they have CARTS AND BASKETS. This place should be shut down. read more

This place is a cluster F*#! of a mess. The sales racks are a mess of every size intermingled instead of being able to go to your size you are supposed to look through racks and racks of cloths trying to find your size. All the sales people were standing around moaning about having to work. One older woman was looking for a particular pant that was advertized on sale and asked a "sales person" who told her "I don't know look on that rack over there, I don't even work in this department". When I worked in sales it didn't matter what department you worked in you helped a customer find what they were looking for. read more

I understand it's hard to find help these days but wow! I stood in line in the men's department for about 15 minutes while a new sales associate tried her best to help the 2 customers in front of me only to have 2 women walk up who decided that they didn't want to wait in line. There was a conversation between Michael and the new girl about his register being closed and that it wasn't fair to the rest of us waiting only for Michael to pull the 2 women over to another register and ring them up. As I'm waiting(right next to the scanner where you can check prices yourself) I can see who is scanning to check prices. Finally it's my turn and the new girl slowly rings me up and I ask for a box as Michael comes back and hands a lady who was not even in the line that I was a box. I am then told that he just gave the last box away. I of course say well I've been in line waiting and I would like a box. Michael says 'first come fist serve'. Well the lady who he gave the 'last' box to was a lady who was scanning right next to me and she was NOT in line. I ask them to go to another register to get me a box only to be told by Michael ' that was the last box, we have no more' as he walks away. I had been to several other stores and all the associates were so nice and friendly. Not at Macy's! This is why stores are closing and people would rather shop online so they don't have to deal with awful inadequate employees that make them feel like they are a bother while making purchases to pay their checks! read more

So... I try not to leave negative yelp reviews. But I had an uncomfortable encounter at this store tonight. I got in the back of the long line, which I was expecting just a few days before Christmas. And at first I was so pleasantly surprised. The line moved quick. When I got the cashier(I think her name was Sarai) I complimented the cashier and said wow you guys are fast! She barely looked at me and said were we? And I said ya I thought it would take much longer. I then told her I used to work in retail and I know working the holidays can be draining and thanked her for being here. She didn't say anything and continued ringing up my items. Awkward but whatever. Another cashier walked up and she turned around and said "girl you took a 45 minute lunch" and the other employee defended herself saying she did not. It went back and forth a few times and it was uncomfortable, I could tell the other employee she loudly called out felt uncomfortable as well. I was trying to be nice and add something pleasant to her day but I found that to be all in all an unpleasant experience. I don't typically shop here and this kind of reminded me why. read more

Came in today to return a pair of shoes that I had purchased on line. The woman working Women's shoes @ 11:31am needs to check her attitude. She was so rude, hurried my transaction even though I was trying to ask her a question. She mumbled something and then turned her back to assist someone else. I know there was another customer waiting to ask for a shoe, so maybe that's what her problem was. Why offer proper assistance to a customer with a Return when you might make money off a Sale. Hadn't been in a Macy's in years. But I needed a new shirt for an upcoming wedding and after striking out at a place next to them I wondered in. Right away I was impressed with how clean and neat all the displays where. When I looked at a sign saying a size that is what was in that bin or rack. You may call that a small thing but I call it a HUGE deal. I don't want to dig through piles looking for my size. I went in looking for ONE shirt. I left with five shirt and three pairs of pants. THIS PLACE is now my go to for all things clothing. There might be a cheaper place a mile down the road but the quality isn't there and I don't have all day to shop for an item. I bought all this stuff on my lunch break with time to spare. :-) read more
